I apologize for not having worked on this story for quite some time. I been watching AOT and Kuroko no Basket, so my time has been dedicated elsewhere. However, some have requested me to continue this story and I have finally found inspiration again!
Enjoy. Also, I am now accessible on AO3 Lilnesahcider.
I do not own Naruto.
CHAPTER 31 - So Soon
In one swift move, Temari pushed the closet door open, glaring at Kin who was staying there, completely unfazed. Instead, she had a smirk, and an evil one too. The blonde was about to approach her, until Hidan's body completely stood between her and the girl who was about to ruin her relationship.
"I don't think so, sweetheart," Hidan looked down at Temari, not exactly wanting to get physical.
Temari continued to glare at Kin. "You really are a bitch, aren't you? Tell me how it makes fucking sense?! You want me to break up with Shikamaru, and if I refuse then you're going to hurt him? Even if you like him? You're fucking delusional."
Kin crossed her arms, also continuing to smirk. "That's right," she sang. "So, what's it gonna be, boy bitch?"
"Temari..." Choji popped out of the closet slowly, staring at his best friend's girlfriend.
Temari turned to look at Choji, waving her hands out in hesitation and confusion. "W-Well, what the hell am I suppose to do?"
"Doesn't seem like you have any choices here, babe," Karin stood up from the edge of the bathtub, placing her hands on her hips. "Sure, he'll be up for a heartbreak, but what are you? Compared to Tayuya? You don't got the hots, or smarts for that matter. He will get over you in a jiffy."
Temari stared down at her feet, totally regretting her decision to come here.
"And, say, don't you love him? Surely you won't let anything bad happen to him, would you?"
"No," said Temari. "I wouldn't."
Dosu was then prepared to get out the bathroom, approaching the door. "Then it's settled, no way will she refuse."
Choji then jumped in, hoping to take the last chance to possibly change her mind. "Temari! Come on, you can't do this! We'll figure something out, you make Shikamaru so happy, you can't leave, you two worked so hard-"
"SHUT UP, CHOJI!" Temari shouted, her eyes completely red and watery. She then turned to Kin, whose smirk was still present.
"Fine, I'll dump him."
"Hmph, as I thought." The shaded guy said to himself, before taking his ear off of the bathroom door.
This information, will indeed be useful.
Temari walked downstairs and stepped onto the patio, scanning her eyes for the gang. At this point, it didn't even matter if they were seen together anymore. Before she could approach the group, Choji took a hold of her wrist.
"Temari, that was real low. Are you serious?"
Temari turned around and glared. "Listen the fuck to me, Choji. You will not say a word about this to anyone or Shikamaru, if you really cared about him, you would never want to take a risk that could potentially put him in danger. Do you understand me? Be fucking realistic."
Choji stared into her eyes, before feeling his water up a bit as he recognized her eyes drop tears. "I'm sorry, I promise."
After a couple of moments, the duo finally spotted the gang. They walked towards them awkwardly, and they were just confused to see the two there.
"Hey," Ten Ten greeted them. "Are we not sticking to the plan anymore?"
Temari eyeballed Choji, who immediately tried to distract them. "Hey! I think we should all go to the arcade, they really haven't done anything, so I think we should get out of here."
"Fine by me." Naruto said.
"Ditto." Kiba said.
And so the rest of them agreed.
As they were caught in the midst of conversation, Temari gripped onto Shikamaru's top. "Hey, can we talk?"
Shikamaru nervously nodded, hoping this wasn't about the text he sent her. In which she did not reply to...
Nevertheless, he agreed to talking to her. They went behind a large nearby tree, which to his surprise, she grabbed a fistful of his shirt, and kissed him deeply. He didn't refuse, instead aided the kiss by placing his hands on her waist, and even dared to squeeze her bottom. Temari wished the moment would last forever, but as he kissed her neck, that's when she said the words that would break his heart.
"We can't be together," Temari told him, blinking the tears away.
Shikamaru paused, not even looking at her. "W-What?"
"Shikamaru, we're over, we can't be together."
Shikamaru then looked at her, his eyebrows completely speaking for his expression. They were bent, causing the skin between them to wrinkle. He shook his head. "T-Temari, this doesn't make any sense."
"What is there not to make sense about?!" She practically shouted at him, looking down at his feet. "I don't love you, there is no us, I only wanted you so I can fuck around for the first time, that's why!"
"That's not true!" Shikamaru shouted back.
Temari brushed his hands off, walking away. "It is."
He then followed her, chasing. "Why are you saying this? I'm sorry, whatever I did. Am I awkward? Come on, we can work it out, damn it!"
And by then, she was off into the crowd.
And his heart broke into millions of pieces.
As the gang began to play on the machines, Shikamaru sat on a nearby stool, texting away on his phone.
'Temari?'
'Temari, I know you see my messages.'
'TEMARI! Answer me, damn it! Please, I love you.'
Shikamaru was never one to throw all his dignity out onto one girl, but Temari was different. And the fact that his best friends could see it too, really says something.
Sasuke jabbed Shikamaru in the shoulder, finally catching his attention. "Oi!"
"Ow, man! The hell was that for?" Shikamaru scolded at him, rubbing on the point.
"You're acting like your phone is all the way on dark mode," Sasuke then leaned onto the window of the claw machine, looking down at his friend with his hands in his pockets. "Trouble in paradise?"
As Sasuke asked this, Shikamaru went on to explain. However, Sasuke had also noticed Choji listening into their conversation. By Choji's gestures, he would text away on his phone while glancing over to look at Shikamaru once in awhile. The dark-haired guy was about to shrug it off, until they both made eye contact, in which made Choji scurry towards the bathrooms.
"And that's how it-"
Shikamaru then got cut off by a rushing Sasuke. "I'll be right back," and so he speed walked to the bathrooms.
Temari kicked a nearby rock from the side of the road, peacefully walking on the sidewalk towards her apartment. She admired the peaceful atmosphere that she hadn't gotten ever since she was practically born on this earth, but she also was greatly disturbed due to the fact that she had lost the one guy she loved most.
She sighed, and just as she began to appreciate her starry-night surroundings, a familiar car then pulled over next to her.
"Hey babe," Nagato called out. "What you walkin' home for? You ain't drunk are ya'?"
Temari stared, seeing as he rolled down his window that it was not only him, but Sasori, Deidara, and her brother.
"N-No, I'm not."
"Well, either way, get in," he told her. "You'll get sick, and I'm in no mood to get in trouble by your brothers if you do."
She obliged silently, opening the door to the backseats and sat next to Kankuro. Right when Nagato was about to drive off, Kankuro dared to ask a question that nearly got them in a shocking situation.
"Where's Shikamaru?"
Temari shrugged. "I don't know, we broke up."
Nagato slammed on the breaks immediately, causing them all to move forward.
"WHAT?!"
Sasuke kicked the bathroom door open, slowly walking into the room of disgusting odors. Nevertheless, he softened his footsteps as he first looked upon the sinks for no reason but to add suspicion to his mood, and then looked at the stalls, kicking each one that was empty. As he figured, Choji was hiding in the handicap stall, which was the only one locked. But of course, that didn't stop Sasuke one bit.
He took a step back before turning sideways to precisely kick the stall door open in one forceful kick, seeing Choji huddled up in the corner, desperately texting someone on his phone. At first, Sasuke thought the worse.. was Choji and Temari..?
"Give me the phone," Sasuke demanded in a monotone, which was all he needed to make Choji hand the device over.
Sasuke looked at the phone, seeing a group of messages that correlated with the whole story. He looked at the big guy with widened eyes. Was this all true? That Temari didn't want to actually dump him? That this was all a set up to keep Shikamaru safe? Sasuke didn't like the situation, but he knew for a fact this couldn't be kept silent.
"Choji, why didn't you fucking tell us?" Sasuke practically shouted.
Choji took a deep breath, before calming down. He knew he needed to be careful with his words. "I.. what was I supposed to do?! It was either Shikamaru gets heartbroken again or he gets beaten to a pulp!"
Sasuke was about to shout at him again, until he saw Choji begin to cry.
"I don't know what I was suppose to do! I'm a bad friend!" Choji then fell to his knees. "Such a bad friend!"
Sasuke bit his lip, not exactly knowing what to do in terms of comfort. But no way in hell was he going to break that trait.
"Hey, get up," Sasuke demanded him again. He sighed. "Listen, if we're going to do something, we've got to be honest with them."
Choji sniffled. "You promise they won't say a word?"
"At this point, I don't even fuckin' know," he told the large guy honestly. He leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "But for sure, I know Shikamaru would be in desperation and try to bring it back to Temari again. The guy is smart, but when it comes to girls and relationships? Not so much."
Choji nodded, "I agree."
"Tsk," Sasuke noised. "Come on, we're bound to tell them."
After about an hour of harassments, Temari finally gave in and told the boys in the car. They sat there, dumbfounded as they retained this new information and couldn't help but take it all in, piece by piece.
"Damn, that Kin has to be beat," Kankuro said as he extended his head back off the seat.
Sasori looked at the girl worriedly. "So, what do you plan to do? Do you need us to do anything?"
Temari chuckled, giving the nice boy a soft smile. "I wish, but I really don't want to get involved in any more drama. Besides, my grades have been lacking and-"
"Now, now, wait," Kankuro straightened up. "You're really going to let those assholes do that to you and Shikamaru? Also, they must be really fucked up if they're willing to hurt Shikamaru just to get with him. This shit doesn't make sense, they're fucking crazy."
Temari sighed. "I know, but I can't tell him. Knowing them, shit could get fatal."
Everyone in the car received goosebumps. They were all aware of Kin's evil actions and the girl doesn't let go without a fight. Whether it came to spiking drinks, or poking holes into condoms, the girl was practically a criminal that never got caught.
The female's phone then lit up, making her eyes widen.
Kankuro noticed the stare on his sister's face, making his own eyes as wide as hers also.
"Sis, what?"
"He found out..."
