Now onto chapter thirty-two, enjoy!
Former Queen Uru needed to get away. She has been having a nasty feeling ever since the night of the elephant graveyard. No doubt her blasted son had something to do with the almost deaths of Simba and Nala.
The goldish lioness found herself near the gorge by the wildebeest grazing grounds. She remembers coming out here with her father, learning all she needs to, to be the Queen of the Pridelands after father's time fell like the sun.
The sight of dust rising from the gorge unraveled Uru. Since shadowing her father on his patrols she never seen the area's resident wildebeest herd stampede.
Then almost instantly she was hit with a memory of when her sons were cubs, things were civil but most importantly, her beloved was alive..
It was a few days after Ahadi had woken up from his nightmare. Ahadi had found her after a afternoon hunt.
"What's troubling you, my King?"
Ahadi sighed before looking at the cloudless sky above. "I know what you said about dreams but.. can I ask you something?"
Uru was extremely concerned so she listened as her light brown mate went on.
"How common are wildebeest stampedes?"
Uru shook her head before rushing towards the gorge. She ran until she reached a edge and gazed down to gasp as she saw Mufasa get hit by a wildebeest, causing him to accidentally throw Simba.
Simba slides along the dusty gorge floor before he had to dodge a few incoming wildebeest.
Mufasa runs by with the herd and grabs Simba. He jumps up to a near rock ledge and sets Simba down, but is immediately struck by a wildebeest and carried off into the stampede.
"Dad!" Simba cried as he helplessly watched his father get pulled back into the stampede.
Uru watches along with her grandson in horror as they couldn't find the gold lion in the swirling mass of wildebeest below them.
At the last second, Mufasa leaps out of the herd and starts to climb with great difficulty up the sheer rock slope.
Simba smiles before he turns and starts to climb up to the top of the gorge.
Out of Simba's sight but clearly in Uru's, Mufasa reaches a point right below a ledge where he can't climb due to the steepness and his tiredness. His claws are scraping and his back paws have no traction. The golden king sighed in relief when he see Scar standing on the ledge over him.
"Scar! Broth-" Mufasa start to slip and barely hangs on. "Brother! Help me!"
Uru felt frozen as she watched Scar latch onto Mufasa's forepaws with claws extended. The golden lion roars, primarily from the sudden pain of his brother's claws, but no doubt also due to the sudden flash of realization. His expression slowly changes to one of horror as he recognizes Scar's intent.
Scar debates what his last words were going to be when he remembered the humiliating torture Mufasa put him though when he and this brute was cubs and he was known as the mere, useless Taika.
Scar lowers his head as he growled slowly and darkly, "Long live the king."
Uru was immediately haunted by those words as all she could do was watch Scar throw his brother backwards.
Mufasa free-falls, back first. All he could do was yell as he fell. Uru watches with wide, teary eyes as she heard her son and grandson's screams mingle.
Uru felt like the ground she was standing on was going to swallow her whole. She couldn't move, she couldn't remove what she witnessed.
The old goldish lioness was helpless when a young yellow lioness roughly pounced on her. Tackling the former Queen hard to the ground.
Out of the tall blades of grass was a all too familiar young pale tan lioness and a young light brown lioness with a light brown tuff of fur on her head, that was recently accepted along with her attacker.
"Zira," Uru spat in disgust as she stared into her granddaughter's amber eyes. "I see the rotten fruit don't fall far from the tree."
Zira shook her head before growling at her grandmother. "I'll watch what you say if I was you. It could be your last."
Zira nodded at the yellow lioness to stand aside, letting Uru slowly rise to snarl at the young lionesses.
"No matter, I'm getting the pride!" Uru growled.
But as the former queen moved to head towards Priderock her path was blocked by a small pack of hyenas.
"I wouldn't do that if I was you."
Uru turned to face Zira with a snarl. "Why the hell not!"
The young pale tan lioness laughed. "I'm sure you don't want nothing to happen to the remainder of my cousins or you for the matter."
Uru looked at the hyenas as well as the young lionesses already ready to attack and knew it was a waste of a attempt.
"Now be a good old hag and follow me." Zira smiled wickedly before she turned to her companions who was looking at her for their next instructions. "Come Nakiri and Fai," Zira said. "Let's see how my father is doing."
With that Zira turned and began to walk down the side of the gorge with the hyenas, her followers and distressed Uru following behind her.
...
Prince Simba coughed as he looks around, searching. "Dad!" Simba's ears perked as he heard a sound. He looked towards the source with a hopeful expression. "Dad?"
A stray wildebeest ran past, turning out to be the source of the sound. The wildebeest curves around a broken tree further down the gully. Under the tree was a shadow, laying on its side. It is not moving or breathing.
Simba slowly approaches to see it's his father.
Simba looked hopeful. "Dad? ...Dad, come on." he rubs up against his father's cheek. The head merely rolls back in place after the rub. "You gotta get up." he places both forepaws on the down lion's cheek and pushes. "Dad. We gotta go home." he tugs at Mufasa's ear. Again the head limply moves back in place. Simba runs off a bit, obviously very scared. "HEEEEELP! Somebody!" his young voice bounces hollowly off the sides of the gorge. "Anybody... help."
Tears began to fall from his orange eyes as he turns back to the body. The gold cub nuzzles up under the limp yellow paw so that his father is embracing him.
Out of the lingering dust Scar apporches. "Simba ...What have you done?"
The cub jumps back, crying. "There were wildebeests and he tried to save me... it was an accident, I... I didn't mean for it to happen."
Scar pulled his crying nephew close a bit. "Of course, of course you didn't. No one... ever means..." he pulls Simba closer; Simba sniffles before he hid his face on his uncle's foreleg. "..for these things to happen. ...But the king IS dead." Scar looked down with mock regret at Simba. "And if it weren't for you, he'd still be alive." Simba feels crushed, believing his guilt that his uncle tells him. Another thought 'occurs' to the reddish-brown lion. "Oh! What will your mother think?"
Simba sniffles a bit as he looks up with a lost expression. "What am I gonna do?"
Scar bends down and causes the gold cub to back up with his words. "Run away, Simba. Run... Run away and never return."
Simba glanced at his father's dusty, lifeless body before he runs off blindly, obviously broken.
Not a second later after Simba ran off down the gorge Shenzi, Banzai and Ed appeared behind Scar.
The reddish-brown lion sneered, while still facing the direction his nephew ran.
"Kill him."
"Sir,"
At the sound of Zira's voice, Scar turned and smiled at his daughter but it faded when he seen his daughter walk towards him with his mother following.
"Have you lost your mind!" Scar growled.
Zira lowered her head. "I apologize father.." the pale tan lioness scrambled to find her words when Scar gave her a cold glance. "I mean.. Scar. But Uru has no choice but to keep quiet if she wants the rest of her grandchildren to live or herself for the matter."
Scar smiled at the goldish lioness as he immediately went to think how he can turn his mother's misfortune in his favor.
"Has the little furball been disposed of?" Zira asked looking at the smiling reddish-brown lion.
"Yes," Scar grinned. "With some help, he won't be coming back."
Uru's green eyes widen in horror as tears started to fall. "No!"
Scar ignored the the old lioness and turned to his daughter. "You've done well, Zira. I'm very proud of you." Scar gave his daughter a nuzzle which she returned.
Then Scar looked at his mother for the longest moment before he sneered at her. "I won't kill you. It will be enjoyable to watch you suffer. Because in honesty, you're at much to blame. So you'll see me as King of the Pridelands."
Uru glared with hate before growling. "Never!"
Scar smirked. "Have it your way. I'll just tell my hyenas to kill the rest of Mufasa's brats."
Uru's eyes widen before she sighed in defeat.
Scar chuckled before looking at the hyenas. "Gather the pack and bring them to Priderock!"
The trio nodded before heading towards the graveyard with the small pack that was with Zira.
Scar watched the hyenas disappear into the lingering dust before turning his green eyes on his mother. "You have front row to see what you always denied me."
Uru was filled with dread before she was forced to move by Zira and her followers as they began to head up to the gorge and towards priderock.
~PP~
By time the sun began to set, Scar entered his cave after dropping a unconscious Zazu off at priderock, to see Gwen sitting in the middle of the cave with a smile on her muzzle. "I assume that everything went according to plan."
Scar shook his head with a smile of his own. "It did but I am actually surprised. Nothing against you..." he took a deep breath, "Thank you. Now I have to go deliver the bad news. We'll meet here to talk about where we will go after."
Gwen nodded before exiting the cave.
Scar inhaled and exhaled before walking out the cave. He walked over towards priderock where Asra, Sarabi and Sarafina was with a still unconscious Zazu.
Sarafina looked up at her ex-mate with confused light green eyes. "Scar, are you going to tell us what happened?"
Sarabi looked up confusion and worry in her orange eyes. "And where's Simba and Mufasa?"
Scar looked at Callan who just apporched with Ni. "Can you go round up the cubs and everyone else?"
The males shared a look before turning to go separate ways; Ni went to get the cubs as Callan gathered the pride.
When everyone was gathered, Asra stood by Sarabi, by the dark beige lioness was Sarafina, Uru Samiha, Kesi and the rest of the pride.
Off to side was Zira gathered with Nefertiti, Nakiri and Fai along with a few other lionesses that were following Nefertiti and Scar.
Zazu, who had woken up not long after Callan and Ni went to gather the pride stood by a heartbroken Uru's paws.
Scar sat on a ledge with his head low and tears falling from his closed eyes.
"I am sorry to report some terrible news. There was a stampede in the gorge this afternoon and I'm afraid our king and prince were lost."
The pride gasped, before they could register what they heard Scar continued,
"Mufasa's death was a terrible tragedy; but to lose Simba, who had barely begun to live..."
Zazu, comforts Uru, who along with Sarabi bends her head in extreme pain as tears fell from their eyes along with Nefertiti.
The dark gold lioness hasn't been seeing her nephew in awhile and this accident smells worse than a warthog's backside. But she didn't want Mufasa to die, not after he showed he was better than her sister and tried to make things right. Unfortunately, a bit too late. But she definitely didn't want Simba to die because of something in the past.
Tears fell from Starra's orange eyes as the goldish cub cuddled against her mother's leg.
Nala closed her green eyes before rubbing against her mother's paw, crying as her sister sat sobbing in between their grandmother, Imara's paws.
Scar let his voice crack a bit before it gained strength. "..For me it is a deep personal loss. So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne. Yet, out of the ashes of this tragedy, we shall rise to greet the dawning of a new era..." The hyenas start emerging, casting eerie green shadows on priderock and laughing hollowly, "...in which lion and hyena come together, in a great and glorious future!"
King Scar ascends Pride Rock as the hyenas appear in full force.
Rafiki's Tree
Rafiki who is shaking his head in the distance. Later as night claims the grieving kingdom the mandrill is in his tree.
After wiping away a tear, he reaches up and rubs his paw across the cub painting, smearing it.
