Yeah so instead of going to bed last night I wrote this thing.
I have no plans of expanding on it, I don't have all the answers behind this crossover AU, and I like the way it ends so...*shrugs* Consider this as a concept fic I guess.
I don't think this counts as a full on crossover with The World That Ends With You. Its...more like a fusion, tbh.
Anyway, enjoy.

Aranella woke up to the sound of the living going about their morning in the square. A mouse child ran through her, ignorant of her presence and of Oakenhart's unspoken other duty as Kingmaker to Ding Dong Dell.
"You're awake," observes Matthias mechanically. Aranella internally rolls her eyes. Gods forbid her partner ever be more lively and organic.
(Maybe that was his entry fee for all she knew. Matthias rarely talked about his previous life but surely this Obedient Soldiers Never Remove Their Armor thing was something the Game Master imposed on him as a handicap.)
"I am," she agrees before checking her hand. Her palm was blank. The day's task hasn't been given out yet.
Three more days. Just three more days of this Oakenhart-damned Game to go and she can go back to serving...
...Who did she serve? She wanted to know so badly.
Aranella searched through her memories again, finding instances of cut off conversations and blurred vision. She concentrated and -
She winced as pain lanced through her head. A faint outline of a small figure faded away. She made a frustrated noise. She got closer to remembering this time...!
"Don't force yourself," advised her partner. If Aranella didn't know any better, she could've sworn she heard worry in his tone.
Any reply she could've made died when their Leafbook viewers beeped, alerting them that the Game's day truly started.
Destroy the demon in the waters below. You have four hours.
A familiar pain pinched her hand as the magic of this game embedded the timer that counted down the seconds.
"Right," nodded Aranella, "Let's go."
Just three more days...
I have no idea what the Black Knight's actual entry fee was. It's not coming to me.
