Descendants 3 Chapter 32
Episode 22B
Following that saddening goodbye of two former members of the coven, Will faced Lyra with a look. His face said what he was thinking. He wanted to do the same thing.
"No," Lyra said, shaking her head. "You can't."
"I'm going to be miserable if I stay here." Will said. "I don't care what our book says. I belong in a world with you and Hope."
Lyra was having the worst case of Deja Vu with Neal Jr. She looked petrified by his suggestion.
Will took Lyra's arms. "I was meant to be a part of your story. Of this whole second act in the hero's lives. Come on. Without me, who would Hope have ended up with?"
Hope made a face at him. "Will."
"I was meant to come to the village with the knife, giving a new way of transporting between worlds to this world where it was nearly extinct again." Will said. "Maybe I really do belong in that world and will be fine. Either way, I can't go back to the way things were before."
Hope nodded, hugging Will. "You'll stay?"
"Hope!" Lyra scolded her. "He'll die."
"I could die if I stay here too." Will said. "I could be hit by a bus or fall in a hole. At least I'll be with the people I love." He opened up his satchel and dug through it. "In fact..." he took out a small box. "I've been waiting for the curse to be broken for this." He got down on one knee and opened up the box, revealing a small ring inside.
Hope quickly said 'yes' before he could ask her.
Will put the ring on her finger and kissed her as he stood up.
Lyra waved her hand. "Will, stop this. I'm not going to lose another friend." She looked over to Hope. Once again, Hope's happiness comes first. Neal Jr. dying to bring Robin back for her. Now Will dying so that Hope can be a happy for a few months or years… "Hope, you can't let him do this."
Hope seemed confused. "You heard him. He could die here in the non-magical world anyway. And maybe we can break this curse on me. Then there will be nothing to worry about."
Lyra shook her head at the two of them. She glared at Hope. "You're really gonna let someone else die for you?"
Will scoffed at Lyra, "Come on."
Lyra glared at Will. "I'm not going to watch you kill yourself. If you're only staying for me and Hope, then I'll take myself out of the equation." Lyra backed away from them.
Will and Hope watched her walk away. Hope turned back to Will who appeared to be considering Lyra's words.
Later that day, Regina proposed an idea to bring all the worlds together into one big world, hiding in Storybrooke. Lena reminded her that in the present, their past selves were still in Storybrooke. Lena added that it was only for six more weeks until everyone there goes back to the Enchanted Forest. Until then, everyone could just reside in the Heights for a bit longer. Hope loved the idea, thinking that it could be a loophole to Will staying.
Hope found Lyra rummaging through Gothel's mansion the next day. She was worried about her and followed her. "What are you doing?" She found Lyra with a few different viles and potions in her hand.
"That's my business." Lyra said.
"Combining the worlds will be a good thing. The witches can stay together. Will can stay with us-"
"It's not that easy Hope," Lyra said, irritated.
"Why not?" Hope asked.
Lyra placed her hand over her heart and pulled her glowing heart out. "You see that? The magic about us. Our hearts are so powerful that they glow." She put her heart back in. "We'll be fine in this world because there will be magic in that new Storybrooke. Our hearts can handle it. Will won't be about to. He was born here. His parents were born here. His heart is ordinary… It wouldn't survive our land for long."
Hope waited a moment before speaking. "You don't know that."
"And you don't know that he'll live if he stays with us." Lyra shot back. "You have no clue towards finding a cure because there isn't one." She looked in a trunk and dug out a piece of paper. It resembled a scroll for a curse.
Hope looked over to her. "What did you find?"
Lyra hid the paper in her hands and shrugged her shoulders.
Hope leaned forwards and reached for her hands. Lyra struggled to keep the paper safe. Hope gripped the paper and uncrumbled it. Lyra reached for it to snatch it back but Hope lifted up the paper. She read it, while still holding it up and gasped. She lowered her hands. "Lyra," She said sternly, "Why are you looking for a curse."
A guilty look grew on Lyra's face. She took a few moments before answering her. "Will said that he can't go back to a world without us. But if he didn't remember us-"
"Lyra Swan-Jones!" Hope scolded her. "Have you lost your mind!?"
"It's for Will." Lyra said. "We could save his life and he wouldn't be miserable in this new life."
Hope shook her head and held the paper in her hand. "My mom's plan will work. You don't have to do this."
Lyra turned away from her, not wanting to hear anymore.
Regina used the final curse to bring all the realms together the say after their present day selves left. With this curse, she could chose with realms to bring in. Neverland for example, was not a part of this. It still had a few wild child inhabiting it. The Underworld was unaccessable with this curse. The parallel world where Lyra grew up was also not included since Mrs. Coulter would start trouble with Lyra if she saw her again.
"But what about Roger?" Will asked Lyra. "He'll have to go back to that world."
Roger walked over to them. "I actually have a story for you both."
Will and Lyra looked at each other, curiously.
"I'm not from that parallel world either." Roger said.
"Don't lie to me." Lyra said.
"I am an orphan. But my parents weren't from that world. I learned while searching for you, about my past. A woman in the parallel world was practicing magic. She wanted a child to try to win back her love. She used a spell that took me from this world and sent me there."
Lyra tilted her head. "What?"
"You're from this world too?" Will asked.
Roger put his hands behind him. "She knew she couldn't take a child from her world. People would notice. Her plan didn't work. She was caught and arrested for witchcraft and kidnapping. I was sent to an orphanage in that world because sending me back would require magic, which was illegal there."
"What a paradox that is." Will muttered to himself.
"I learned that my biological parents had died. The woman took me from an orphanage." Roger explained.
"And in all that time, you never got sick?" Will asked.
Lyra eyed him, nervously.
"I felt ill a lot, especially after I turned eight." Roger said. "When I was 11, I fainted and was out for days. No one knew why. The doctors couldn't understand it. Mrs. Coulter even came and checked on me."
"Mrs. Coulter?" Lyra asked.
"She wanted to ask about you I guess? She was looking for a way to travel between worlds to see you. She hired the best doctors to help me wake up." Roger said. "One was a witch. They healed me, temporarily. They gave me a wand, and I was gone."
"Where did you go?" Will asked.
"Back to Jorden. It didn't take me to any new world. Just away from Mrs. Coulter. Still, I knew she would be back. And I couldn't let her get to you. Luckily I found a way out of there before it was too late. I took over a year, but I was able to travel to another world."
"How?" Will asked.
"The wand. I just started working one day. I stopped Mrs. Coulter's realm jumping portal and made one of my own with the wand. Then I ended up on the new Enchanted Forrest just before the curse did." Roger said.
"So you're really from this world too?" Will asked.
Roger nodded at them.
Lyra went up to her old friend and hugged him. "I'm going to miss you so much. You went through all this to find me and now we have to separate."
"I know." Roger said. "But I found Will aloof the way."
Will gave an awkward smile. "Except, I'm not staying here. I'm going back with my real family." He looked at Lyra and over at Hope across the street.
Roger nodded, seeming disappointed.
Wonderland, Agrabah, the wish world, Arendelle, Oz, Camelot, Asgard, and the land of untold stories were all included in this new Storybrooke. Several worlds attached on to Storybrooke. Those worlds could now be accessed, not with a bean or a knife, but with a car ride.
With the worlds coming together, there were now two Henry's. Wish world Henry, who was only 19, met the other people of Storybrooke. He was particularly taken with Alex, the 21 year old witch. He approached her all suave and kissed her hand upon introducing himself.
Lyra eventually came around to the idea of Will staying in the new Storybrooke with everyone. Will asked her to be his best girl at the wedding and to be the ring-barer. She accepted the job.
Will and Lyra kept in touch with Roger, sending him letters. They sent him money to buy what he needed. Roger still had to live in those foster homes. For his birthday, they sent him nice gifts, such as jackets, shoes, tickets, and gift cards.
5 years later
Hope and Will had a small home in the enchanted forest part of the total Storybrooke realm. Hope had a shiny ring on her finger. Their home was just enough for two people.
The Twitches had a school in Storybrooke that recruited new witches from all the realms. Regina retired from teaching magic school, letting someone new take the reigns. Lena and Lyra helped them from time to time. Leia was an ongoing teacher at the witch's school. She lived at the school too, next door to the twitches.
Lyra went to her home next door to her parent's in Storybrooke. Lyra moved into the loft that her grandparents once lived in. Her little Melody had a room upstairs. Roland and Lyra stayed downstairs in the little space near the kitchen. Melody came downstairs in her modern day clothes consisting of pants and cute shirt. "Mama, can Penny come over?"
Penny was Melody's friend from kindergarten. She was the same age as her.
"Sure." Lyra agree. "I'll call her mom in a minute." She went over to the kitchen to pull out her phone number. In the drawer, she fingered through the cards. One was an envelope. Lyra paused for a minute.
"Mama?" Melody asked her.
Lyra look out the envelope. It was from Marnie in St. Helens Oregon. She removed the card and re-read it. Marnie informed her that Namine died. She started to get really sick a month before. She was as bad as she was when Lyra got her out of the asylum. She had a fever and couldn't keep any food down. Marnie and her sister, Sophie, found a spell to reduce the pain but it only lasted a week. Marnie mentioned how terrible it was to watch her suffer. The card was dated four years prior.
Will and Hope were taking a walk outside when Will collapsed. Hope rushed down to him but he would not wake. It was a long trip to the Storybrooke hospital. Doctor Whale and Nurse Tinkerbell ran several tests on him. Hope waited outside of his room for answers. Lyra stayed outside of the hospital, afraid to get any closer.
The doctors were able to confirm that Will's heart was giving out because of his time in a magical world. Tinkerbell broke the news to Lyra outside.
"This is the end isn't it?" Lyra asked.
Tink held the clipboard in her arm. "If he stays here, he will not survive the week."
"Then move him." Lyra urged. "I knew this was too good to be true. Send him somewhere else where he'll be safe."
"There's more news." Tinkerbell said. "You and Hope and even us doctors can't be near him. If you're sure about this, he'll have to be moved out of this town immediately. You won't be able to say goodbye."
Lyra nodded. "Okay. Uh, we can still call or write letters. That's okay. That's fine. Move him now."
Tink nodded and went back into the hospital.
Hope was inside arguing with Dr. Whale. "What do you mean I don't have the authority? I'm his wife!" She lectured him.
"You do not have power of attorney." Dr. Whale explained.
"Then who else-" She stopped when she realized who is was. She folded her arms and shook her head. "Of course."
Will Parry woke up in a hospital in New Hampshire. He had a few letters on the nightstand beside him from Lyra, Hope, and Roland.
Roger was in the room with him, standing up by his bed. "Hey." He said. He was 18 years old now.
Will seemed confused. "Charlie? I mean, Roger. Wait-where is everyone?" He sat up and looked around his hospital room. "This isn't Storybrooke."
Roger explained the situation to him. "Lyra said to send you away rather than have you die there."
Will looked down. "I knew she would… I just hoped this day wouldn't come."
"And," Roger added, "I happen to be the only friend of yours who isn't from a magical world." He clapped his friend's shoulder. "So, once you're discharged, where would you like to go?"
Will wanted to put on a smile for Roger, but lied back in his bed. "Can I just be alone for now."
Roger nodded, walking out of the hospital room.
Will found the letters and read them. They each gave heartfelt goodbyes to him and wished him well on his life in this world.
Roger had a lot of money from Lyra for him and Will to start their new lives.
When Will was discharged a couple days later, he and Roger booked flights to Europe. Will returned to his home, and got into Oxford University. Hope may have enchanted their submission letters so that they would get in. Will was a few years older than most of the students at that university.
Will was still able to communicate with Lyra and Hope in the begining, via Skype. Lyra revealed that she was pregnant again. Tink said that is was a boy this time.
"Would it be weird if I named him Will?" Lyra asked.
"I'd think you would want to name him Neal." Will said, through his laptop.
Lyra swayed her head. "Neal was always in Bealfire's shadow...Oh."
Will giggled a bit. "What does Hope think of that idea?"
"I haven't told her." Lyra said.
"I would be honored but I think you should name him something original." Will said.
Lyra nodded at him. "Okay."
After the Skype call, Will got a terrible headache. He took medication for it but it didn't work. The headaches got worse after each Skype session.
"How are you liking university?" Hope asked him.
Will looked around his dorm room. "It's uh, it's fancy. My roommate is pretty chill. Loads of homework and reading."
"It will be worth it when you get that degree." Hope said.
"Yeah, yeah". He said, seeming sad. "I didn't have to worry about uni when I lived with you guys. I could just be a writer with no experience. Hav e a home magically built for me. Unlimited food supply." He snapped his fingers.
Hope looked down. "We send you and Roger money so it's not so challenging."
"It's still challenging." He said. By his tone, she could tell he was upset.
"If you didn't want to stay away, why let Lyra be the power of attorney?" Hope asked.
"Because I- I don't know. Maybe deep down, I wanted to live. I felt like there was still more I could do..." Will said. "I mean, it's torture not being there with you. It kills me. Literally caused physical pain not to hold you. But here, I can do more."
Hope nodded a little. "And I hope you accomplish so much over there."
He passed out after his call with Hope. His roommate called an ambulance. Roger met him at the hospital where he started to realized that there are no loopholes to this.
"Will," Roger said, "You can't have contact with them. No physically. Not by Skype or phone call."
Will still tried, sending letters to them and receiving them in turn. However, any letter from them burt his fingers. Roger had to read the letters to him.
Lena visited her family's graves. The Gold's had their own section in the cemetery. She put flowers down her for mom, dad, and both her brothers. She took a small bottle out of her pocket. It was the same vile that Lyra gave her years ago. She still couldn't bring herself to use it. Dunbroch was a lot easier to visit these days, but the enchanted waters are all gone. She put the vile away and went back home with Alice.
Lyra was at home with her family, preparing for Melody's 6th birthday. She baked the cake while Roland set up decorations with Henry. A baby cried nearby. Roland went over to check on the little guy. His baby blanket said Allen. It was the anagramed named that Neal Nolan had.
Hope's little bother John, who was once Zakaria, was a little older than Melody. He played outside with Melody. They played hide and seek. John was really good at finding her.
When Regina reunited all the worlds, she reunited everyone. Robin and Emma and Killian were back. Hope spent much of her time with her parents and her little brother. They all worked together to ensure that John grew up happy and good.
Lyra wrote a letter to Will about Melody's birthday later that day. She sent him Polaroid pictures of them that Snow took.
Lyra checked up on Will every few days with her Golden Compass. She saw that he was working hard at his studies. He was always writing, it seemed like. He majored in English, taking a lot of writing courses. For one of his classes, he read His Dark Materials.
Any spare time that Will had, he spent writing. There were several papers on his desk and on his bed with story outlines and notes.
When Will graduated Oxford, he had finished his books and got them published. The first book came out within a year. His books became a huge hit.
Will even got an interview on a popular TV show that aired worldwide. Hope and Lyra watched him on TV from Lyra's Storybrooke home.
"Tell us about these characters." The host asked.
Will sat in a chair across from the host of the show. He looked at the camera, hoping they were listening. "Well there's this main guy Billy, who is just an ordinary kid until he meets Lizzie. She tells him that she came from anther world and pulls him along for the journey. He ends up finding this magical tool that can create portals to other worlds. And this girl Lizzie just wants to find her family."
"How did you come up with this story?" The host asked.
"I guess I have always wanted adventure myself." He shrugged.
"Now I heard that you have plans for this book to become a series."
Will nodded. "The rumors are true."
"They say you've written three books so far."
"Yes. In the second story you will meet a lot more important characters." He explained.
"He wrote about us." Lyra said to Roland who was standing in the room with her.
Will sent a copy of his books to Lyra, Hope and 10 other copies to the library. They were called The Orphan Chronicles. The first book focused on when he met Lyra and their journey to find her family. In the book, his character did lose two fingers too, which begged the question of how he lost his. He made up a story to the press about how a hammer fell on his fingers when he was a 12. The book ended with Lyra (or Lizzie as her character is called) finding her family and Will, or Billy, considering leaving to continue his own adventures.
The second book was about other adventures Will had and falling for Hope. Her name was the same in the books. Lyra's name was changed as well as a few other details to avoid sounding too much like His Dark Materials. Later in the story, the rumor about Lizzie circulates and it worse, leading Lizzie to contemplate leaving her home. The end up time traveling, following the events of descendants 2. Lyra, Lena, and Hope send Will letters to detail that experience since he wasn't there. After book two came out, there were a lot of fans of his books who wanted Lizzie and Billy together. Will had to explain that they were only friends and that love doesn't always make sense to others.
The third book was about his time during the Seattle Curse, when was was living in Hyperion Heights and was the only person who remembered everything for a while. It ended with the curse being broken and the worlds all coming together.
He considered ended the series there but people wanted more. He wrote a fourth book about how he ended up staying with Hope and Lizzie. Mrs. Coulter showed up again, becoming the villain of the story. He got married to Hope and Lizzie was with Roland. He and Hope had a child in this story. It was a happily ever after that his readers wanted, even though that isn't what really happened.
Everyone in the new Storybrooke read his books as soon as they came in. Lena and Lyra raced to finish the books while discussing the story after every few chapters. The last book was more difficult to read, for Lyra and Hope.
Hope adopted a boy in from the Ultimate Storybrooke. A lost boy who had been stuck on the island for a long time. She stayed in the Storybrooke part of the town, moving in near Lena and Alice. The boy was six years old and his name was Billy. Hope was quickly taken with him and adopted him.
Melody's 10th birthday came quickly for the residents of Ultimate Storybrooke. Emma and Killian helped set up the decorations. Leia came over with the twitches, offering to use magic but they wanted to do it themselves.
Roger called Lyra and gave her the awful news. "Lyra?"
"Roger?" Lyra asked. She was on her way to the loft with the cake. "What's going on?"
He was quiet for a little too long.
Lyra sat down at a bench. "Roger..."
"He had-" He voice cracked. "Like an aneurism. I don't know! The doctors said that's what is was but I think he was depressed. Lonely."
Tears streamed down her face rapidly. Her hands were shaking. "I just wanted him to be alive."
"I know." Roger said over the phone. "But he wasn't living his life." He sniffled. "Those books were his only escape but now that's done. And now he's gone." He voice got higher as he spoke.
Lyra listed quietly to him, wiping away her tears. She check to see if anyone else was around.
"There's going to be a service in Oxford in a week." Charlie said.
"Okay." Lyra said. She wiped her eyes as people were walking by. Archie was walking his dog and looking over at her. "I'll call you later." She quickly hung up and carried the cake back to the loft for her daughter's birthday.
Weeks later, Lena found out that Will died, hearing it on the news. She questioned Lyra about it and realized that she already knew.
"Hope will hate me forever." Lyra said. "We sent him away-I sent him away so that he could live a long life. 9 years. That's bullshit. She can't know. Not yet."
Lena handed her the vile, saying "This will help soften the blow."
Lyra told Hope about Will's passing. Once Hope stopped yelling and crying, Lyra told her about the vile. They went to visit his grave in England and poured the vile over it. They got to say their goodbyes in person. Hope cried into his arms when he appeared. Will was so glad to be with them again, if only for a few minutes.
Maryanne still came to visit her friends Lena and Lyra from time to time from her own timeline. It was different to visit Wonderland and Storybook all in one trip. She visited Melody on her 12th birthday. She reminded her so much of her name sake.
Melody blew out her candles without any fears of the villains her family faced. Every birthday she was happy and joyful. No villains or curses interrupted them.
Lena, Lyra, and Hope went back up to their tree in the usual spot. They were relieved that the tree could still hold of of them. It was as though nothing had changed, even though everything was different now. No matter what else happens, they knew that they were safe. Every part of their lives would be safe from now on. They didn't need to worry about fixing the past or changing the future. The past, present, and future, were as it should be. And not matter what else happens, they can get through it with hope.
