Pokémon Crimson Gold
Chapter 32: Viciousness and Cruelty
Not to long after Ethan's scuffle with Chuck outside the pharmacy, Ethan knocked on the door to his Gym, prepared to do battle with him.
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said to Ethan, telling him if Chuck tried anything on him, she'd attack him.
Ethan smiled and nodded; he was ready to win this gym battle, if he did not only would he win the Storm badge, but he'd also receive the Miracle cure, in order to heal the Ampharos of the Olivine lighthouse.
Finally, after a minute or so, someone opened the doors to the Gym. It was a middle-aged woman, she looked at Ethan with a cold glare.
"I'm Ethan, I'm here to defeat the Gym leader Chuck!" Ethan said, trying to sound cool.
"You best give up kid, before you even try, because my husband Chuck will slaughter you," she told Ethan.
Ethan's eyes lit up. "Chuck, is your husband?"
"Yes, my name is Susan, and I'll be the referee for your *match*" she said, clearly trying to mock Ethan.
"Isn't it a rule of the Indigo League that an official referee cannot have relations with the Gym leader in anyway?" Ethan asked, surprised.
"Hmph, the previous referee, Marcus, is unable to be here, not after that husband of mine broke his arm." She said, laughing cruelly. "Not that it matters anyway, since this match ought to be a quick."
She finally let Ethan inside the Gym, the Gym quite large and had gym equipment everywhere, Chuck was getting a quick workout in lifting weights on a bench press.
"Chuck darling, this young boy wants to challenge you," Susan said, alerting Chuck.
Chuck easily lifted the dumbbell with one arm before throwing it aside to the wall, he stood up and faced Ethan.
"I still haven't taken that Miracle cure, you came in time boy," Chuck told him.
"I know, I had to rush just in case." Ethan said.
Bayleef stood by Ethan's side and let out a stern shout, showing she was ready to battle if asked to.
Chuck smiled and handed Ethan a folded paper and pen, Ethan opened the letter to find the so-called contract Johnson had mentioned.
"All challengers of Chuck must consent to the following terms bellow, if the challenger is to lose the battle, then they will be faced with imminent pain and distress. This may include and is not limited to, Arm breaking, relentless leg twisting, ball busting, punching repeatedly, and more, if the challenger agrees to these terms, please sign here." It read.
"You're a real sick bastard you know that!?" Ethan yelled at him, disgusted to his core.
"Hmph, call me whatever you want, but ensuring pain on challengers is the best way to make young Trainers such as yourself to fight with your full potential." Chuck said, "Also it helps me relieve stress, and its entertaining."
"Just sign the paper or leave kid, what will it be?" Susan asked, with a twisted snarl on her face.
Ethan caved and signed the paper, he had to for the sake of the Ampharos. He crumbled the paper and tossed it to Chuck, who caught it.
"Heheh, this ought to be good." Chuck said with a wide grin. "Okay, let's get that Stadium."
Chuck pressed a button on a funny looking device, the floor with gym equipment was lowered, and then came a much more suiting battlefield of nothing but rock, where they would be fighting.
"Step into the gym, if you have the guts." Chuck said, walking over to the stadium ground.
Ethan turned to Bayleef, "Here goes nothing, right?" Bayleef agreed and nodded.
Ethan stepped on the battlefield on the other side of Chuck, ready to battle.
"This should be fast, but your pain after will be slow," Chuck threatened.
"Alright, this will be a three on three between my husband Ch- I mean Gym leader Chuck and Challenger Ethan, and now may you both bring out your first Pokémon!" Susan stated.
"I'll go first!" Chuck shouted as he threw his Pokéball, releasing a Hitmontop.
"Top Top!" Hitmontop yelled, spinning on its head in a spiral.
"A Hitmontop huh," Ethan said, scanning it with his Pokédex.
"Hitmontop, the Handstand Pokémon. If you are enchanted by its smooth, dance-like kicks, you may get a closer experience with one than you'd like."
"Now, reveal yours already." Chuck said restlessly.
"Okay, I choose you, Eevee!" Ethan said, throwing her Pokéball.
"Eevee!" She yelled, giving a miniature roar.
"An Eevee, and you haven't even evolved it, you're just asking to get your ass kicked." Chuck laughed.
"Oh, really is that so?" Ethan said. "Eevee, you can do this I believe in you!"
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said encouraging Eevee.
Eevee turned her head to Ethan and Bayleef, smiling.
"Now, may the battle begin!" Susan shouted, signifying the start of battle.
"Hitmontop, start with Gyro Ball!" Chuck commanded. Hitmontop began spinning at rapid speed and headed for Eevee.
"Eevee, jump with Quick Attack." Ethan yelled.
Eevee leaped in the air with Quick Attack, managing to dodge the Gyro Spin.
"Good, now swift!" Ethan yelled.
While sky high, Eevee shot out stars at Hitmontop with the swing of her tail. The move hit the spinning Hitmontop, but didn't even stop it from spinning.
"What!?" Ethan said surprised.
Eevee fell to the ground, she was huffing and puffing.
"Did you forget, normal type moves are nothing to fighting types, not to mention normal types like your Eevee are weak to fighting type moves," Chuck said with a smirk.
Crap, I didn't realize! Ethan thought.
"Now if your Eevee were to evolve midbattle to an Espeon, you'd be in luck, but that of course isn't likely." Chuck said, confident in victory.
"I hadn't forgotten you jerk!" Ethan lied. "Who needs type advantage? Eevee is incredibly strong in her own right, no matter the circumstances or conditions!"
"You'd better pray your right." Chuck said. "Hitmontop, Quick Attack now!"
Hitmontop rushed to Eevee at incredible speed, it was faster than Eevee by a little bit, it crashed into Eevee and sent her flying back to the wall.
"Eevee!" Ethan screamed.
"Bayleef Bayleef Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said, cheering her on even faster now.
Eevee slowly stood up on all fours, ready to continue.
"Eevee!" She roared.
"Hmph, show her a fighting type move, Low Sweep!" Chuck commanded.
Hitmontop came at swift speed and swept Eevee's feet, knocking her down. He then hit her with a Brick Break, which Chuck hadn't even commanded for her to do.
"Hmph, pathetic." Chuck scoffed. "Now, end it once more with Brick Break!"
"Eevee dodge!" Ethan yelled.
Hitmontop once again prepared another chop, but before it hit Eevee managed to dodge, moving out the way.
"Now Eevee, Dig!" Ethan yelled. Eevee listened and dug in the ground, getting away from the powerful Hitmontop.
"Gyro Ball quick!" Chuck yelled. Hitmontop listened and once again spun on its head at an incredible fast paced, fast enough it kicked up debris from the ground.
Hitmontop spun in a circle, waiting for Eevee to eventually appear, scaring Ethan.
"It doesn't matter if your Eevee uses dig, it'll have to get out of there for some air eventually, and when it does it will immediately be smashed by the Gyro Ball, and if it tries crashing into Hitmontop then it'll just be overpowered, it's a lose-lose situation for Eevee no matter what." Chuck said.
Ethan smiled. "Oh really, well then we'll just have to see about that."
It was then when Hitmontop suddenly stopped spinning, shocking Chuck.
"W-what!" He yelled. "Why has he stopped!?"
"This isn't good!" Susan uttered.
Hitmontop's head was stuck in the ground, it had drilled into the ground too much for its own good, it struggled to get out.
"Hitmontop, get out of there and fast!" Chuck yelled.
"Good Eevee, now dig out of there then smash into Hitmontop with Quick Attack!" Ethan said.
Eevee quickly dug out of the ground, while boosted by the power of Quick Attack, like a blur she crashed into the immobile Hitmontop sending it flying in the air.
"Hitmontop no!" Chuck yelled.
"Eevee, continue the onslaught with Swift!" Ethan roared.
Eevee shook her tail launching the ever-fast stars at the midair Hitmontop, causing an explosion engulfing Hitmontop.
Hitmontop fell to the ground, struggling to get up from the fall.
"Eevee, now go for Bite!" Ethan yelled.
Eevee came down and used Bite on Hitmontop, biting it directly in the chest.
"Hitmontopp!" Chuck yelled, but it was over.
"Damnit, Hitmontop is over, honey! Bring out your second Pokémon" Susan said, ticked off.
"Return Hitmontop." Chuck said as he returned his Pokémon.
"Eevee that was awesome, why don't you take a little rest, I'll have you battle again later." Ethan said, Eevee went and ran up to Bayleef's side, getting ready to watch the upcoming battle.
Chuck pulled out a second Pokéball and snickered. "You got lucky there, but now my second Pokémon is going to triumph, go Primeape!"
"Primeape!" Primape yelled, banging on its chest fiercely.
"Primeape aye," Ethan said, preparing to read its Pokédex entry.
"Primeape, the Pig Monkey Pokémon. If approached while asleep, it may awaken and angrily give chase in a groggy state of semi-sleep."
"Alright, then I'll go for the type advantage this time! Togetic go!" Ethan said, throwing his Pokéball.
Togetic upon being released spun around Ethan, Ethan smiled and held Togetic's hands.
"You've got this Togetic, now go and make me proud!" Ethan told him, Togetic nodded and flew down to the Stadium ground.
"To, Togetic!" Togetic happily exclaimed levitating down to the battlefield.
Primeape angerly glared at Togetic as he entered the battlefield.
"May the second round begin between Challenger Ethan and Gym leader Chuck begin!" yelled Susan.
"Alright Togetic, start with Aerial Ace!" Ethan yelled, Togetic glowed with a white aura and charged for Primeape.
"Primeape, use Counter!" Chuck yelled, Primeape formed a block, and anticipated the flying Togetic. Bam! Togetic crashed into Primeape's block, but despite the type disadvantage, Primeape managed to break Togetic's Aerial Ace and smash Togetic in the face with a heavy punch.
"Togetic!" Ethan yelled concerned.
Togetic crashed into the ground at tremendous speed, making Ethan look away.
"Primeape's counter reflects moves, allowing for him to unleash back damage with the twice the force." Chuck snickered.
Togetic raised from the ground, after sustaining considerable damage.
"Togetic!" Togetic shouted, shaking the damage off.
"Primeape, on the offensive, use Fury Swipes!" Chuck yelled.
Primeape rushed forth at Togetic, unleashing several slashes at Togetic, but Togetic managed to dodge them all.
"How about a move you can't counter, Togetic, Extrasensory!" Ethan yelled.
Togetic's eyes glowed a blood red, he unleashed a spiral which caught the Primeape.
"Not bad, but it won't be enough!" Chuck announced.
Primeape was raised into the air beyond its control, and Primeape smashed him back and forth into the ground, causing Super effective damage since extrasensory was a Psychic move.
Ethan could notice a sweat from Chuck's face, making Ethan smile.
Togetic let go of his hold on Primeape and dropped him to the floor, leaving Primeape struggling to get up.
"Pr-Primeape," Primeape groaned in pain.
"Primeape's on his last legs, now hit him with Aerial Ace,
Togetic once again charged with white energy once again trying to land a Super effective move on Primeape, but Primeape quickly countered the move, this time hitting Primeape with a Karate Chop attack in the neck, crashing Togetic to the ground directly below.
"Primeape was just acting weak!" Ethan said, shocked at Primeape's durability.
"Correct, now Primeape, end Togetic with a Fury Swipes!" Chuck yelled.
Primeape struck Togetic again and again with once again another Fury Swipe onslaught. With the attack being a normal type move, it was digging Togetic into the ground with all the attacks.
"Togetic! Extrasensory!" Ethan yelled.
While being pounded, Togetic launched the spiral, sending Primeape up in the air with Extrasensory.
Togetic got up from the ground, with many bruises and scratches, but he could still battle.
"Togetic, now release Primeape!" Ethan yelled.
Togetic released his hold on Primeape, sending it crashing to the ground.
"Primeape!" Chuck yelled.
"Now Aerial Ace!" Ethan exclaimed. Togetic smashed into the falling Primeape with the Aerial Ace, leaving Primeape no time to dodge or counter, the impact caused an eruption in the air.
Primeape fell from the air to the ground, it fell flat on its face.
Togetic came back to the ground, with still more than enough energy to continue.
Primeape then began to get back to its knees, albeit slowly.
"Wow, your Primerape is really durable, to fight so well even under a type disadvantage." Ethan complimented. "Too bad it has to go."
"Shut up!" Chuck muttered.
I can't use Aerial Ace, if this is like before then Primeape might be trying to fake me out, and Togetic used up too much stamina to use Extrasensory, it's got to be Metronome! Ethan realized determined.
"Togetic, let's finish this with Metronome!" Ethan said.
Togetic listened, wagging its finger at the barely standing Primeape, it then lit up with a dark surging energy, and so did Primeape.
"What!" Chuck said shocked.
"T-that move." Ethan said, confused. "Could it be?"
"Fine then, once more use Metronome Togetic!" Ethan yelled.
Togetic listened, getting a lucky roll it used Hydro Cannon, striking the Primeape down with water, instantly wiping it.
"Chuck is losing..." Susan said shocked.
Once the water cleared, Primeape was finally revealed to be unconscious, relieving Ethan.
"Yeah! On to your last Pokémon, Chuck!" Ethan yelled at his adversary.
"You got lucky!" Chuck said, returning his fainted Pokémon.
It was then when Ethan's worst fear came true, Togetic was fell to the ground unconscious, it appeared to have been knocked out by some invisible force.
"So, it was Destiny Bond!?" Ethan said, disappointed in his judgment.
Chuck's wife began to laugh, her husband was back in the game. "Both Togetic and Primeape are unable to battle, both battlers, bring out your next Pokémon!"
"Togetic return," Ethan said returning his Togetic. "You did great Togetic, if it wasn't for that unlucky Destiny Bond we would have won."
"Hmph, you haven't done half bad kid, but this next Pokémon is my strongest, he can singlehandedly wipe out the rest of your team." Chuck said, revealing his next Pokéball.
"Big talk coming from the guy who's losing!" Ethan clapped back.
Chuck smirked and threw his Pokéball, unleashing a bloodthirsty looking Machamp.
"Machamp!" Machamp yelled with all its might.
"A Machamp!?" Ethan said, taking out his Pokédex.
"Machamp, the Superpower Pokémon. It quickly swings its four arms to rock its opponents with ceaseless punches and chops from all angles."
"I'll have to be careful with this last one..." Ethan said, wondering who to use next. He turned to Bayleef and was about to ask her to battle next, but.
It was then when Eevee jumped from Ethan's side and onto the battlefield, surprising Ethan.
"Woah! You want to battle, Eevee?" Ethan asked.
"Eevee!" Eevee said, reassuring Ethan she could battle.
"Alright then, let's give it our all then!" Ethan called out.
"Machamp, we'll start with Vital Throw!" Chuck yelled.
Machamp reached from the ground, pulling out a piece of rock, and quickly tossing it at Eevee.
"Eevee, dodge it and then use Quick Attack!" Ethan yelled.
Eevee dodged the rock, and then launched herself at supersonic speeds at the Machamp, Machamp however didn't even bother to dodge, just by standing there it managed to knock Eevee back.
"Eevee!" Eevee yelled as she was knocked to the ground.
"You okay Eevee!" Ethan asked. Eevee quickly got back up to her feet and shook it off.
"Your Eevee is too weak to even damage my Machamp!" Chuck flexed. "My Machamp is far beyond any normal type moves!"
"Oh yeah? Eevee, Swift!" Ethan yelled.
Eevee swung her tail, sending many stars at the Machamp, an explosion erupted from the direct hit, causing an eruption of smoke which engulfed the Machamp.
"Good job Eevee!" Ethan said.
Before the smoke cleared entirely, Machamp pounced at Eevee, it appeared to have not been even slightly damaged from the Swift.
"W-what!" Ethan reacted.
"Cross Chop!" Chuck commanded. Crossing his arms in an X position, Machamp smashed into Eevee, sending her back first into the wall at rapid speed.
"Eevee, are you alright!?" Ethan said, worried.
"No it's not, Eevee is done for." Chuck said.
Eevee tried to get up, but she fell back down to the ground, unable to continue.
"Eevee is unable to continue. Challenger Ethan, please bring out your final Pokémon!" Susan stated.
"Eevee return," Ethan said returning Eevee to her Pokéball. "That was really cool how you battled, thanks."
"It's a one on one now, and you know what happens when I win!" Chuck said, clenching his fists together.
"Do you ever shut up!?" Ethan asked, gritting his teeth.
Before Ethan could send in a next Pokémon, Heracross was released from his Pokéball. "Heracross!" Heracross exclaimed.
"A fighting type!?" Chuck said.
Machamp smiled upon seeing another fighting type, it was extremely eager to continue.
Heracross turned to Ethan and Bayleef and let out a battle screech, asking Ethan to let him take on the Machamp.
"Oh I see, because Machamp took out Eevee, you want to avenge her?" Ethan asked.
Heracross shook his head no, surprising Ethan.
"Heracross is a bug type, as well as a fighting type." Chuck said. "Fighting types are always eager to do battle with other fighting types."
"Of course, you can battle Heracross!" Ethan exclaimed. "Now go and win this!"
"Heracross!" Heracross screeched, jumping to the stadium, facing off with Machamp.
"Machamp!" Machamp roared, trying to intimidate Heracross.
"Heracross!" Heracross yelled back, not giving in.
"This ought to be exciting!" Susan said, laughing menacingly.
"Machamp! Strength!" Chuck yelled.
Machamp listened and charged his hand back, preparing to strike down Heracross.
"Heracross, move out the way!" Ethan warned.
Machamp threw the punch, with Heracross managing to dodge, however upon Machamp's hit landing on the ground it blew up a chunk in the arena.
"Heracross! Megahorn!" Ethan yelled, while Machamp's back was turned Heracross came, unleashing his horn into Machamp's back, inflicting damage on the Machamp.
"Alright!" Ethan yelled. "Now-" Before Ethan could finish, he realized Machamp was holding Heracross by his horn, he swung Heracross and smashed him against the wall, it was the same throw he used for Vital Throw.
"Heracross no!" Ethan yelled. Heracross fell off the wall but managed to bounce back on his feet, he had used his wings to cushion the landing by a bit.
"Hera, Heracross!" Heracross said, ready to continue the battle.
"Alright Heracross!" Ethan said.
"Bayleef Bay!" Bayleef said, cheering on Heracross.
"Cheer on your Pokémon all you want; it won't change a thing." Chuck said.
"Oh really? Heracross, use Close Combat!" Ethan yelled.
Heracross rushed towards Machamp at full speed, unleashing a terrifying Close Combat. Heracross smashed Machamp with what looked like a blur of what could only have been dozens of punches, fast enough it seemed like Heracross's arms would be set on fire.
While being pounded, Machamp managed to raise his arm and forming a fist, his arm began to charge with flames.
"F-Fire Punch!" Ethan said, understanding that if it hit it would inflict Super effective damage. "Heracross get out of there!"
Heracross bounced back, but Machamp did something unexpected, Machamp struck the ground with Fire Punch, completely devastating the ground and destroying it entirely.
Heracross leaped back on the wall, unable to go down to the ground as it was as hot as boiling water and more at this point.
"Bay-Bayleef!" Bayleef said, in shock of Machamp's power.
"Your Heracross will have to come back down sometime, and when it does, it's over, due to its typing, Heracross cannot take the heat." Chuck said all smug. "But my Machamp can!"
Heracross was sweating heavily, the temperature was too much for it.
"Err, Heracross!" Ethan called out, unsure of what to do in this case.
Hearing Ethan's voice was the awakening Heracross needed however, he began to glow with a white light Ethan had seen before.
"No way, that's!" Chuck yelled in disbelief.
"Heracross!" Ethan yelled once more.
Heracross let out a roar and jumped from the wall, shattering it at maximum speed. Heracross was using Aerial Ace, a move it had learned from Togetic after being hit with it many times.
"If that hits it'll be Super effective!" Chuck yelled. "Machamp, dodge!"
Machamp tried to jump and dodge, but Heracross was too fast, it smashed into Machamp at full speed, crashing Machamp back first into the hot, beat up ground. Heracross smashed into Machamp so hard he was boosted back into the air, capable of landing one more hit.
"Heracross, Close Combat!" Ethan yelled, Heracross listened and as he began to fall directly toward the barely conscious Machamp, prepared his fist for another onslaught.
Machamp tried to block its face with its four arms, but it was too late.
Heracross landed on Machamp hard, causing the hot ground below them to erupt. Machamp screamed in pain at this.
"Machamp!" Chuck screamed.
Heracross smashed his fist into Machamp once again at max speed, even faster and stronger than last time, with each punch thrown, the deeper and deeper, eventually causing a wide crater.
Machamp was unable to battle, it was down for the count. Heracross sat on top of him, unable to throw another punch he was so exhausted.
"M-Machamp!" Chuck yelled, sounding pissed.
Susan was shocked, she finally collected herself and announced the winner. "M-Machamp is unable to battle. Challenger Ethan is the victor!"
Chuck returned his Machamp and simply had do words.
"We did it Heracross!" Ethan said happily, unable to hide his joy in that he won.
Bayleef jumped up and down in joy of her teammate winning.
Heracross got up slowly, it walked across the steamy ground, Ethan could notice his feet were burned with each step.
"Oh, return Heracross." Ethan said, returning him to his Pokéball. "You were something else, Heracross, thanks a bunch."
Chuck angerly held his Pokéball in his palm, he still had no words, probably not the best time for Ethan to try to provoke him even further.
"Chuck, it's alright, honey, you p-put up a good battle." Said Chuck's wife, trying to cheer him up.
"Hey princess," Ethan said mockingly. "Don't you owe me some things now?"
"You shut up, boy!" Susan yelled, but Chuck put his hand on her shoulder, telling her to give it a rest.
"You won, and as I promised here is your Storm badge." Chuck said, throwing Ethan the badge.
Ethan caught the badge and pinned it on his jacket, his fifth badge, he couldn't be more excited.
"And now, anything else you should be giving me?" Ethan said, holding out his hand, expecting the Miracle cure.
Chuck held the Miracle cure in his hands, but then glared at Ethan.
"Give it! You Promised!" Ethan said, raising his voice.
"You may have won this battle, but you're far too naïve, you will not be getting this potion, it is mine." Chuck said, flicking off the cork, about to drink it.
"You dirty liar!" Ethan yelled, not believing what he was seeing.
"Bayleef!" Bayleef was livid at this, she swung her leaf, sending a single Razor Leaf, directly at the bottle, right before Chuck could even take one gulp, the leaf smashed the bottle, breaking it.
"I-it's broken!" Ethan yelled, realizing the Ampharos would be in big trouble now.
"Look what you did!" Susan yelled, angered at seeing her husband not get what he wants.
"The last Miracle cure on this island... broken, and now I may be unable to get another for months..." Chuck said, sounding pissed.
Chuck's eyes met Ethan's; he had a look of anger and hatred Ethan had never seen before to this degree.
"I'm going to kill you!" Chuck yelled as he charged threw the stadium to reach Ethan, he stepped through the hot floor, feet sizzling.
"Chuck!" Susan said, calling out to her husband.
"Bayleef you know what to do!" Ethan declared.
Chuck reached Ethan's side, but right before he could grab Ethan by the neck, Bayleef used her Vine Whip to wrap his body and lift him.
"Chuckkkk!" Susan yelled scared.
Bayleef tossed Chuck aside, he smashed back first into the wall, he slid down and fell on his knees, clearly unconscious. Susan ran to his side and began to cry.
"Look what you did!" She screamed. "You horrible, horrible boy!"
Ethan showed no remorse however, Chuck was an asshole and even tried to attack him, Bayleef let him off easy in fact to Ethan. The only thing on Ethan's mind was the broken Miracle cure, and there was nothing he could do about it.
"A-Amphy..." Ethan quietly muttered. Ethan ran out the Gym along with Bayleef, was there now no hope...
Finally, Ethan gets his fifth badge, meaning just three more before he challenges the Pokémon league. As for the Ampharos, how will Ethan be able to help it?
