Introductions
Lots of beeping.
More like incessant beeping.
Lots of prodding.
More like continuous stabbing.
Uraraka had only been awake for about 4 hours after her fall from the ceiling, and she wished she had been knocked out longer. She watched in silence (and pain) as her body was grossly examined, every square inch of her short, chubby body being scrutinized beyond relief. She was glad she had knocked out most of her insecurities early on in life, because this process was stressful, and the doctor monitoring her fluxuating heart rate every hour didn't help.
But she didn't speak, and she didn't ask any questions, she just let herself be looked upon to the grossest of depths.
It was her job, and she was to be the lab rat for this sick investigation until she had enough to fight with.
The only thing that actually crossed her mind during this time was how long this was going to happen. Keigo hadn't really said too much of what was happening, just the basics and fundamentals of the mission. Uraraka didn't know how long she'd have to be poked and prodded like this, and she wasn't too sure she could endure this longer than a week, if she had to think realistically.
The silence was also killing her, all of this was going on and monitored, but no one was saying anything. They just surrounded her, all of the 'nurses' and the Doctor wearing lab coats and round, black glasses. Uraraka supposed she had been in worse situations that could've been horror movies if caught on camera, but something about this situation was definitely unnerving.
Another 2 hours passed, and the Doctor finally spoke, assessing her overall condition.
"Ochako, glad to see you're still with us." She said, resting a rather full clipboard against her chest. The Doctor was a slim woman, with silvery-purple hair that looked like an extreme session of toning had been used to achieve such a colorless shade. She had deep purple eyes as well, the royal color becoming a dark abyss the more Uraraka looked into them. Something about the Doctor gave off the feeling that she was a very powerful person, but there was also the feeling that she was cool and nonchalant, and Uraraka got the feeling her quirk was intense just by the numbing gaze she held. If she had to put it simply, Uraraka thought this woman gave off the vibe of an evil cheerleading captain, platinum blonde and all. "Your little trick earned you a broken leg and arm, but hey, anything for the mission right?" The Doctor asked.
Uraraka choked on air when she heard that. "M-Mission?" She asked.
"You honestly think you and your little boyfriend can just move to Tokyo under Hawks and the whole criminal world wouldn't plan something in anticipation? You heroes are a little dense, dontcha think?"
Uraraka took the Doctor's snarky tone as part of her intense personality, but noting that she hadn't implied that her relationship was fake was a start. Assuming the Doctor believed Bakugo and Uraraka were actually together meant that they had been kidnapped because of the relationship and not because of their status.
"Something had to be going on, right? In any case, we had to step on it, and fast, the underground is obsessed with you two." The Doctor shrugged.
"Okay..." Uraraka concluded out loud. Something else about this woman made Uraraka want to engage in conversation with her, and for a villain, she was pretty damn casual. "Let's say the criminal world of Tokyo is obsessed with my boyfriend and I," She started again after a few seconds of thought. "There's a million heroes in the world, why us?"
The Doctor paused for a moment, a small smile creeping up her face. Uraraka couldn't tell if it was sinister or true engagement in the conversation, and she looked away from the woman and down to her broken body.
"There's a question I was anticipating," The Doctor said after a while. "Though I wish it hadn't taken a broken bone or two." The Doctor then pushed Uraraka's freshly broken leg aside on the bed, making the hero cry out in pain as she took a seat on the bed. "Simply put Ochako, you two have got something going on, something weird, something interesting, and more importantly, something valuable."
"We took the liberty of watching you for the past 2 months, and I've gotta say, I didn't think you guys were gonna pull through," The Doctor continued.
We've only been officially dating for a month...Uraraka thought to herself. What is she seeing that I'm not?
"After your little vacation however, we knew you guys were perfect for our lovely experiment here. Can I ask you something now, O-chak-o?" The Doctor asked. The sounded out syllables of her name snapped Uraraka from her thoughts and right back into the intense gaze of the Doctor, who was now leaning dangerously close. The pressure of the Doctor's body sitting next to her broken leg made her immensely uncomfortable, and she swallowed thickly.
"Yes..?" Uraraka asked slowly. The Doctor smiled widely, taking Uraraka's chin her cold hand. Uraraka felt her entire body freeze, and not from fear.
"Have you two thought about kids?"
Bakugo woke up again, noticing he was in a different room than before, judging from the placement of the assorted medical equipment in his room. He awoke to the feeling of static faintly present in his body, feeling stiff and weirdly numb, though he could move. The creepy man they had been wary of on their vacation, the SoothSayer, his ugly copper hair reflecting a tarnished coin, stood by his bedside quietly.
"You're awake, how lovely." He said, stepping close to the bed Bakugo laid in.
"Yeah? And what's it to you?" Bakugo snapped, cursing himself for the monitor showing his increasing heart rate.
"You can relax my boy, I'm only here to do the necessary." SoothSayer allowed himself to reach out to Bakugo's forearm, and it was only then the explosive hero realized that he was restrained.
The fuck? Did they seriously think this would hold me down? He asked himself, flexing his wrists to prepare his hands for their signature fire-cracking position. However, nothing popped. Nothing sparked.
Nothing lit.
Bakugo looked down at his hands in horror, the idea of one of his biggest fears coming true setting in. He began to buck against his restraints, panicking intensely at the thought of losing his quirk.
His drive, his passion, his ambitions, his goals, dreams, efforts, all of his hard work and dedication, gone.
"What the FUCK did you do to me?!" He roared, fighting back his tears and restraints. SoothSayer simply ignored him, and grabbed his arm as he first intended to.
"It's not what I did, my boy," He said calmly. Upon SoothSayer's touch, Bakugo began to feel open, as if an invisible wind was flowing through his body. He stopped struggling, the cold feeling of the other man's quirk taking over his body. He felt exposed, like every fiber of being was being observed.
Possibly because it was.
Although Bakugo couldn't see it, SoothSayer was reviewing his entire genetic makeup, his horribly bright orange eyes glassy with intense focus. He seemed lost in the act, his head lolling back ever so slightly as he gathered information. It was a true sense of violation to Bakugo, and because of the shock he hadn't quite processed, the force of being quite literally cross-examined through a quirk caused him to skip processing and head straight into a state of full shock, his body relaxing back into the bed far too quickly than normal. After SoothSayer was done, coming to the conclusion that there was a strong possibility that anyone Bakugo would have kids with was bound to have an extremely mutated explosion-based quirk, he released the blonde, who was steadily losing consciousness again.
"It's only temporary," SoothSayer assured him, though his vague sense of conversation wasn't much help to Bakugo. "I can assure you that was not my doing, honest. It was hers." He said quietly, as if he were scared.
"W-what did she do? Who is she?" Bakugo asked, his voice barely above a grim whisper.
The sound of the door opening as if on command forced Bakugo to perk up long enough to watch the visitor come in slowly, a small laugh emitting from her lips.
"I am the Doctor," She said, shutting the door behind her softly. Her silvery hair moved almost impossibly slow, like it was caught in its own wind. "I only paused your quirk." She said, stepping to Bakugo. He didn't have the strength to shrug away from her reach, but when she touched him, that congested feeling that had been running throughout his body cleared up.
"It seems as if he is extremely compatible with anyone, we may not even need the girl," SoothSayer said suddenly, appearing at the side of the Doctor.
"No, no, she holds promise. That's actually what I came in here for." She said calmly.
"What did you do to Ochako earlier?! Where is she?! Is she fucking okay?!" Bakugo spewed out questions desperately. The Doctor chuckled a bit and snapped, two white-clad assistants coming in. They undid Bakugo's restraints but before he could retaliate, the Doctor grabbed one of his arms with such incredibly silent speed he hadn't noticed his quirk was gone again. "What is this?!" He yelled.
"Calm down, lover-boy. You'll see her soon, we have yet to introduce ourselves."
So, they introduced themselves.
Moments after the Doctor walked in and Bakugo was unrestrained, Uraraka was brought in, wheeled in quietly. The moment Bakugo laid his eyes on her, he pushed past everyone surrounding his bed, hopping out to meet Uraraka. He couldn't explain it, but his heart was pounding, his breath was uneven, and his face grew hot at the sight of her. She felt it too, because when he jumped out of bed, her eyes began to well up and she started crying intensely. Before he could touch her however, he was yanked back by the two assistants, immediately kicked to his knees in front of her. Uraraka gasped, the sight of Bakugo fighting rather weakly against the people holding him back worsening her sadness.
In his mind, Bakugo had been fighting like he was 17 again, knowing he could take these guys with no hesitation.
In actuality, he was very weak, and had he stood normally, no adrenaline pumping through his veins when Uraraka showed, he would have realized he didn't even have the strength to stand on his own.
"A-are you okay?! What did they do?!" Bakugo asked Uraraka.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," She whispered, though his reaction was confirmation of the opposite.
"Are you fucking kidding me?! Look at you, you're-"
The hit across the back of his head was meant to shut him up, but it only made him react violently.
"Can you shut up for 2 seconds?" The Doctor groaned, taking a seat on Bakugo's bed. "God, you two are sickening."
Her tone was very different from Uraraka had first seen, it was almost as if the woman before them was communicating like she knew them.
"Just tell us who the hell you are," Uraraka said, growing angry after seeing how they treated Bakugo. This was a weird environment, and quite frankly, she didn't think letting her guard down in the slightest was an option to be had, no matter how informal her captors seemed to be.
"I think you two know that, Hawks can't be that incapable of doing his job, although, he would've been better suited for what we have in mind."
The mention of Keigo sent Uraraka's gut lurching, and she looked away from the Doctor, who took note.
"No matter. I am the Doctor, and this is SoothSayer. He can map your genes, I can control your quirk. Simple enough?" She said with annoyance.
"Control our quirks...?" Uraraka asked. She didn't really understand what that meant, but she had an idea that was partially the reason for her injuries.
"Yes. Simply put, I can halt or activate your quirk whenever I please. I used to have to have physical contact, but with the help of this genetic freak, I can do it almost at will, as long as I memorize exactly what you are." The Doctor clarified.
"..What the hell are we then...?" Bakugo asked, somewhat regaining his composure. Uraraka looked at him, a deep swelling feeling growing in her heart.
"You two...are my magnum opus. And lucky for you two lovebirds, you're about to spending a lot more time together." The Doctor said, that same weird smile creeping back up her face. The two heroes both got a sinking feeling, and shared a look before returning their gaze to their captors. The Doctor stood up brightly, walking joyfully to the door. Her assistants followed her, as well as the SoothSayer, and they walked out before her, her long, wispy hair lingering in the room.
"I hope there hasn't been trouble in paradise lately.." The Doctor said, leaving the room. A jingling of keys alerted Bakugo and Uraraka, and the brunette turned her head around from her wheelchair.
"..Why do you say that?" Uraraka asked hesitantly.
"I think you two deserve a little...reunion."
