Professor Umbridge disbanded all student organisations within two days after Draco and I talked to her and we shared a smirk between us as we saw the outrage on Potter's face. Of course, Slytherin was quick to reform our Quidditch team but I heard Gryffindor had a bit of an issue in reforming their team, though.
After I had accidentally heard Draco's conversation with Blaise and Pansy I was a bundle of nerves for days on end waiting but after a week it faded and I just had to accept that maybe Draco had changed his mind about us. I'd be lying if I didn't say it hurt because it did but I was happy to see that Draco was near enough back to normal around me but still.
"Today we are going to be studying Amortentia" Snape drawled and my head snapped up.
"Isn't that a sixth-year potion?" I asked quickly and Snape raised an eyebrow at me.
"Yes, it is but I believe that everyone here is more than capable of understanding the Potion" Snape spoke slowly as he turned around the room before falling on Potter and his friends, "Well, almost everyone"
I snorted into my hand as Draco openly laughed at the remark and I elbowed him in the side, he just grinned at me. "Seeing as you knew what level the Potion is, Morrigan, would you like to give us an example of what you smell?" Snape asked passing me a small vial of the Potion.
"Ah, Hell" I muttered quietly and Draco laughed quietly, "You're next, Giggles" I muttered to him before bringing the vial to my nose and I wasn't surprised, "I can smell cologne, mint and a faint hint of caramel"
"Amortienia smells different to each person" Snape explained and I could feel Draco's eyes on the side of my face but I refused to look at him as I felt my cheeks warm, "Pass the vial to Malfoy, since he's getting amusement out of it"
I smirked as I handed the vial to Draco and turned to face him, "Go on, Draco" I encouraged and he shot me a look before bringing the vial to his nose and his eyes widened slightly.
"Adrenalin Roses, Jasmine and a slight hint of Vanilla," Draco said confidently while looking at me, I looked down quickly and cleared my throat. Snape instructed Draco to pass the vial around the room and also instructed us to write down the properties of the potion.
"That was very specific," I said quietly to Draco as other students revealed what they could smell and he looked at me with a smile.
"My mother grows Adrenalin Roses" Draco admitted and my face flushed, "You spend a lot of time in the garden when we're home"
"I didn't think you noticed that"
Draco smirked and leaned closer to me, the smell of his cologne hitting me and my breath caught, "I notice everything you do and I know you like to put vanilla in your tea, not to mention that I bought you a Jasmine scented perfume our first Christmas"
Yeah, my face felt like it was on fire, but I didn't let that sway me, "You put caramel in your coffee even though Narcissa tells you not to and you like mint so you add it to every cologne you wear. You're not the only one who notices everything, Dray" I bit my lip once I realised what I called him and shook my hair over my shoulders to hide the blush. "Sorry, I don't know why-"
Draco's hand on my leg made me stop talking, "I like it" my face burned even hotter as I picked up my quill and started writing down the properties of Amortentia, Draco kept his hand on my leg while he picked up his quill and the smile didn't leave his face.
The first match between Slytherin and Gryffindor after being reformed was going well but I found myself watching Draco more than the actual match itself, it was something about the way he looked when he was in his Quidditch uniform that made my stomach flip constantly. I blushed slightly when Draco caught me looking at him and sent me a heart-melting smile.
"Is that the Adria Morrigan blushing, I see?" I heard someone say as they sat next to me in the stands, I turned to face them and rolled my eyes.
"Shut it, Graham," I said quickly and he grinned.
"Oh, I've moved up to first name basis already" Graham teased and I nudged his shoulder.
"I can go back to calling you Montague if you prefer" I retorted and looked back at the match just in time to see Draco throwing a glare at Graham, "Seriously?" I muttered under my breath and rolled my eyes.
"Draco getting jealous again?" Graham commented and I nodded, "So he hasn't grown a pair yet"
"He did, actually, a few weeks ago," I said softly and Graham's eyebrows rose, "But I turned him down"
"What? Why?"
I subconsciously wrapped my hand around my left forearm and shrugged, "It was complicated. I had my reasons"
"And he hasn't tried again?" Graham asked, sounding genuinely surprised.
"If you would have asked me five weeks ago I would have said he was. But now" I shrugged again, "I don't think so"
"So why don't you take the lead?"
"I'm a traditionalist," I said with a small smile, "Another cursed trait of who I am"
"A cursed trait that runs within all of us Snakes," Graham said and I laughed, "There's a smile"
I was about to reply when something caught my attention, "Are the Slytherins singing?" I muttered and to answer my question the voices rose and I could hear it.
"Weasley cannot save a thing,
He cannot block a single ring,
That's why Slytherins all sing:
Weasley is our King.
Weasley was born in a bin
He always lets the Quaffle in
Weasley will make sure we win
Weasley is our King.
Weasley is our King,
Weasley is our King,
He always lets the Quaffle in
Weasley is our King."
I automatically looked at Draco and he was laughing his head off at the growing agitation of the Gryffindors, "Oh no" I muttered and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"This isn't going to end well" Graham muttered to me as the game came to an end and the Gryffindors and Slytherins met in the middle of the pitch, "Oh shit, he's making it worse"
I watched for a few minutes until I saw Potter lunge at Draco and I was on my feet running down the stairs, Graham close behind me. When I reached the group there was a full-on fistfight going on and I quickly went to pull Potter off Draco but Graham pulled me back when Potter's fist nearly connected with my face, which Draco saw and he lunged at Potter in retaliation.
Madam Hooch quickly brought the fight to a stop and sent some of the Gryffindors to their Head of House and I silently helped Draco to his feet and took him to the hospital wing with Graham's help. I didn't say a word as Pomfrey healed up Draco's cuts and bruises, I continued my silence right up until we got back to the common room.
"You alright, Adria?" Graham asked me as I sat down on the sofa and Draco sulked in an armchair, "You almost ended up with a broken nose"
"I'm fine, thanks though Graham" I replied and he nodded, Draco sent Graham a glare as he walked off towards his friends and I turned to Draco, "You absolute dickhead!"
"You want to talk to me now that your boyfriend's gone," Draco muttered and my mind went blank.
"You what?" I asked and Draco waved a hand over towards Graham and I couldn't hold my laughter in. I was laughing so much I had tears in my eyes. "I'm not dating him!"
"You looked pretty cosy in the stands" Draco muttered and I rolled my eyes.
"He was asking about us, you idiot!"
"What?"
"You heard me" I sighed and sat back, "He was asking if you had grown a pair"
"I did! You turned it down!" Draco's irritation was slowly rising and so was mine but for a very different reason.
"For a very valid reason which is now invalid, by the way!" I fired back and Draco's face flushed, I leaned forward and lowered my voice, "But that hasn't changed anything, has it? I'm just a filthy Death Eater"
Draco's mouth opened and closed quickly and I shook my head quickly. I rose from the sofa and went straight to the form I shared with Pansy, making sure to slam the door behind me.
Just a filthy Death Eater.
It doesn't matter if I had overheard the conversation or not, it didn't change anything. I know I could always take the lead and ask Draco out but it wasn't a lady's role to make that step. That's what I've grown up knowing and who am I to stray from what I know to be right?
I've had The Dark Mark on my arm for two months now and I haven't been summoned for anything yet and for some reason that didn't sit right with me. What was the point of Marking me if he didn't intend to use me?
I felt the bile rise in my stomach as I realised that The Dark Lord didn't need me for anything he just wanted to claim me. He wanted the last Morrigan on his side before I could think about defecting, why would I defect? That would be leaving Draco and his family at the feet of The Dark Lord, as I've said my loyalty was to Draco I couldn't leave him behind.
My hand flew to my mouth as the bile reached my throat and dashed for the bathroom, I made it to the toilet just in time for my body to start ejecting the contents of my stomach. My body was shaking and I could feel my temperature rising. I felt disgusting, I felt like a disgrace. I had played right into The Dark Lord's hands.
I sat back on my heels and flushed the toilet, I quickly got up and cleaned myself up and even splashed water on my face but it did nothing to cool my body. I went back into the girls' dorms and stripped off my robes, my jumper and tie before sitting down heavily on my bed.
My eyes fell on my exposed arm and I glared at The Dark Mark on my arm. I wanted it off. I dragged my nails over the Mark. Hard. Tears stung my eyes as the pain kicked in but I dug my nails even harder into the skin of my arm and dragged them across again. The tears fell but I didn't stop the assault on my arm to wipe them away, blood covered my fingers and my tears mixed with it.
It was no use, no matter how much I scratched over the Mark I knew it wouldn't get rid of it. I dug my nails into my arm again and squeezed my eyes shut, my body shaking with the force of my sobs. I know I did it for Draco, as honourable as my intentions were, it didn't make me feel any less like a disappointment. I was right, we didn't have a choice. We never did.
I forced myself to let go of my arm and I stared at the bloody mess, I pulled my wand out, "Tergeo!" I watched as the blood disappeared from my arm and I could see the numerous long scratch marks I had left but The Mark itself seemed undamaged. Of course.
I jumped when I heard the door open and I spun around, quickly hiding my arm behind me, "Dia, I'm sorry I- What was that?" Draco changed his tone quickly, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"Nothing, Draco," I said quickly and reached for my jumper but Draco crossed the room and pulled my left arm out from behind me. I tried pulling my arm back but his fingers tightened around my wrist to keep me in place. He ran his fingers over the scratches lightly with a frown.
"You promised," He said softly and my shoulders slumped.
"I wasn't trying to hurt myself, Draco. I just wanted it gone" I admitted and sat back down on my bed, Draco silently sat down next to me, his hand still holding my wrist. "He didn't need me for anything. He just wanted control over me. The last Morrigan"
"He thought you would defect" Draco concluded and I nodded, he let go of my wrist and wrapped an arm around me, my head rested on his shoulder as his hand came up and he started running his fingers through my hair. I could feel myself instantly relax against him and I chose to ignore the way my heart was pounding. "Would you?"
"No," I said instantly, "Despite the mess that you and I are in I couldn't leave you"
"Do you think I could leave you?" Draco asked after a moment and I lifted my head to look at him.
"I don't know, could you?"
"Of course, not," Draco said softly and he tucked some hair behind my ear, "I made you a promise, remember and not to mention that you mean a lot to me" I couldn't hide the blush that crept up on my face and I hid my face in his chest. "I saw that"
"No you didn't, shut up"
