A/N: How is this going to all unfold now?

Note for all chapters: I watched the finale multiple times, pausing it to get some form of a transcript of the article that Nolan was shown in the last few minutes, trust me; it wasn't easy so perhaps a cheeky little review for the effort I put in there?

Chapter 32

"What do you mean? Jordan Campbell kidnapped them?" Beckett gawped at me, trying to gage whether I was being serious or not. "Well we have to find them."

"How? How can we possibly find them now? Unless you happened to put a high tech tracker into your husband the minute you got married, we don't have much of a plan."

"Well no. No I don't!" Beckett snapped. "We were getting married. What made you think that I would have put a tracker on him?"

I turned away from him, trying to work out where my father could have taken my uncle and fiancé. "I give myself up in return for their safety – it's the only way to get around this thing. Or… I get in touch with one last person who can help bring about the end of this charade with Blue Lagoon."

"Amanda?" Beckett queried, rubbing his arm anxiously. "I don't think that's going to be possible – we've not heard from her in a long time. Now that she's got her own family, there's no need for her to get into this."

"Then I'm going to do something about this for Scott and Nolan." I held a finger up to the lawyer's face, trying not to be distracted by the gemstone on the ring Scott gave me. "Do not call the police. That'll jeopardise their mortality. Jordan Campbell will kill them if he catches wind that the police are aware of what's going on. I mean it."

Campbell Compound. Dad was never one for extravagant plans at the best of times. Normally, there would always be someone else pulling the strings. If Nolan and Scott were anywhere, it would be here. The probably for Dad was that he had no loyal servants to assist him anymore. This was all him somehow. Which meant he would have to get his hands dirty, thus incriminating himself if he wasn't paying close enough attention.

I drove up to the front door of the main house and bolted to the door, hammering the grand double oak door with my fist. The door opened, showing that I was expected. I pushed the door wide, preparing for any attack. I tried to remind myself that I had been the one to bring Gorgon to justice. Percy Demetriou was rotting in prison because of me. I was a force to be reckoned with and that was long before I came to the Hamptons. They just didn't know it yet.

"Jordan Campbell?" I called out, walking into the main hallway.

"In here, Michelle…" Dad responded, drawing me away into the dining room.

The wooden tables had been recently polished, with Dad sat at the head. His hands lashed to the armrests of the chair. He appeared defenceless, and this was probably the first time that he had been makes to look weak.

"Welcome, welcome back Michelle," he added on a droll tone. "You're familiar with my little guests, aren't you?" His fingers pointed to either side of him. "My brother in law, and whatever the hell he is…"

Scott jerked in his seat, restrained in a similar way. "Riley! Get out of here! Hydra's here too!

A gun cocked, pressed gently into the small of my back, warning me of another dangerous person in our mist.

"Hello Leonard," I said confidently, holding up my hands in defeat. "I'm here to help end this thing now. The three families here have been tied together for far too long and we have all lost someone dear to us. Enough is enough."

"Ah, yes- Michelle. I always had a soft spot for that little girl that used to sneak into meetings. Not this thing you've become. Weak." Leonard guided me towards the table. "You are right though. Our families have lost far too much this last decade, but I think you have something I want."

"And you also have something I want. How's Susie doing? You two finally divorced yet? I can't think that the newest update of the court proceedings helped make her feel loved and appreciated. You were pursuing an employee who wouldn't have given you a second glance. She was devoted to her family and her job."

"Susie had a bastard child – we both had our problems."

"Yes… Shannon. Your assistant. You needed someone unrelated to be bent to do your bidding." I wasn't afraid to taunt the man as he forced me into the empty chair opposite my father. "Do we really need the rope ties?"

"Do you really need to keep talking?" Leonard Myers bound my wrists tightly to the armrests of the chair.

"I mean, you telling me to shut up is the least of my worries. Since I came to the Hamptons to escape your ex-business partner's clutches, I have gone through quite a lot. I've been shot at, accused of murder, nearly blown up and- well, I'm not afraid to admit it, but I found a hell of a lot of information about Hydra and who was really embezzling money and doing all sorts of naughty things, right Leonard? You're a naughty one sometimes aren't you?"

"Says you… Look at the deception that you have perpetrated. Your fiancé, your father and your uncle. You have been lying to them for a long time. Sitting on a little secret that you didn't want to reveal because you knew it would tie all of us together… Isn't that so?" Leonard looked over at Dad who gawked at Scott in disbelief. "Congratulations Jordan- your daughter got engaged and you were not even invited to the party."

"Let's cut the crap and get to the point…" I spat nastily, irritated by the whole charade. "Why don't we start talking about everything that's gone down in the last decade, right? Because I have a huge amount of information that I refuse to keep quiet about until we come to some sort of agreement. Cards on the table, so to speak."

I nodded across the table at Scott, indicating that I'm being as serious as I possibly can. He agrees, wincing as if he's in pain. Across the table, Nolan's hand rolls around to look at me and I see the blood staining his brow and shirt. Exhaling slowly, I remind myself that this is not the time to fall back on old ways and feeling sorry that this is the way things turned out.

"Oh, and just so that you don't feel back for not doing a search on me," I say, putting my gun on the table and noticing the widened eyes of everyone in the room.

Scott piped up weakly, "Leonard – you need to let Nolan and Riley go. This is not their fight. This is between you and me."

Leonard grabbed the gun off the table, feeling the weight in his hand and frowning at me. Worried about why I had given it up. He scoffed, pointing it straight at Nolan's head. Without a moment's delay, he clicked the trigger, but no bullets are dislodged from the chamber. He threw the gun across the room, causing it to shatter a precious vase.

I curse, one part of the plan gone. Moving onto the second stage. "I guess a whole lot needs to be put out there in the open – me, my uncle and my fiancé combined are all in possession of information and knowledge that could well and truly ruin everyone at this table. So let's get some stuff out here in the open. I mean, wouldn't you like to know who authorised the hit on your son?"

Leonard Myers wondered if I was bluffing and scoffed eventually kicked over the chair that Scott was strapped to. "He did it. I know he did. I just can't prove it!"

"You're wrong, Leonard… The person who killed Leo wasn't Scott." Before I can explain, the Hydra boss' hand is clamped around my throat, pinning me against the back of the seat, breathing heavily on me. "Jordan-he put out the hit- Costello…"

It gave Leonard Myers enough of a reason to let me go. He turned on his old friend, clenching the gun in his hand, close to pulling the trigger. Which I don't blame him for. I have no love for my father, not after everything he has done to me and the damage he's done to my family. Jordan Campbell could be on fire and it would take a whole lot of effort to me to want to intervene.

"Come on Leonard," Jordan said, failing to pin the blame elsewhere. "Michelle is clearly trying to pin the blame on me to avoid suspicion. She did exactly as Scott Patterson asked in order to worm her way into your family. She disposed of Leo at the earliest convenience."

Leonard shook his head. "You're wrong there, Jordan. She may not have been honest, but she was loyal to Leo whilst they were together. He had no bad word to say about her, despite her breaking his heart." He looked back at me and then at my father. "It would have been a privilege to have her be a part of my family, but then you had to do something. Had to force your way in. However, I was one step ahead. I knew you had a hit out on Leo, so I used it to my advantage. I can prove that it was you. Isn't that right, son?"

Son? Oh you can't be serious…

"You got that Dad." Leo stepped out into view, winding a piece of rope around each wrist, giving him a menacing persona. "Don't look so scared Riley- you should know better than to believe everything that is reported to you. That's right, we faked my death and tried to make it believable, of which we succeeded at. Unfortunately, you got in the way and the police went after you rather than Jordan, my real killer. The thing is, Costello was not your man I'm afraid. He was Hydra's to begin with."

A sudden window shattering alerted us to more foul play. This time, I had no idea who it was that was organising this. Gorgon were no more. Blue Lagoon had a diminishing workforce. Hydra Corporation also had a limited allyship. I rocked back as a smoke cannister spilled out a thick black gas into the air. My chair hit the floor, turning onto one side. I started to wonder what might happen to us all. Leonard and Leo called out to one another trying to work out what was going on.

The more I breathed in, the more lightheaded I felt.

"Scott, I think- I think this is going wrong. I'm sorry…"

"Wakey wakey Riley Osborne…" Leo's voice echoed in my ear, rousing me form the unconscious state. "This really is going to be a very good explanation."

I opened my eyes, looking straight into a concrete floor. "What's going on?"

"I know about the drive. I know about the research you've done into Hydra and my father's company. It all makes a lot of sense. You targeted me because you wanted to get information about the Patterson murder and the trial. My dad has decided that their son will give up whatever he has in return for your safety. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that you have more than he does. You're more valuable alive. So let's see how long it takes you to give up the information-" Leo's threat was cut short by an almighty scream.

I bolted upright, knowing exactly who the scream belonged to. "No, no, no. Don't you hurt him, don't you dare hurt him!"

"Tell me what you know. Tell me where you hid it." Leo grabbed the back of my head, pulling me to look at his face. "You always did have a pretty face. It will be a shame to do some damage to it."

"Don't hurt Scott- please. Leo, if you ever cared about me, then you'll let us go. Let me and Scott go. Nolan too."

"You're not in a position to negotiate I'm afraid." He laughed at another scream from Scott in the next room. "That'll be him giving up some absolutely vital information. It certainly will be sad to know that you didn't tell me what I needed. He's doing so well by the sound of it. If you're after my advice, it would be an extremely good time to start talking about what you know and where the files are."

"What do you want to know? You want me to tell you exactly what I discovered? Because it's too late for you. If you do anything to me, or Scott, or Nolan, or anyone else under out protection, I have an operative who will release the information to the press, the police and anyone who will listen." I looked at him. "This is your one opportunity to right the wrongs done by your family. Abigail deserves her biological father to be in her life. I lived my life resenting my father and I'm pretty sure you did too. That much I know…" I winced at the scream. "Leo, I swear if you help me out of here, then I promise you that I will keep you out of the evidence and not reveal to you that you are alive. I'll send Bella and Abigail anywhere in the world and you can meet them."

He slammed my face down into the floor, creating a sharp ringing sound in my ear. "Start talking Riley, or I'll get Dad to remove a finger."

Scott's cries are loud, followed by a pained grunt through clenched teeth. Leonard Myers was trying hard to break him. Incredibly hard even.

I screw my eyes shut, hoping that I could break Leo before Scott broke. "Leo, you told me you wanted what every human being wants – to be in a loving relationship with a family in some condo in the sun. You have that chance with Bella, I swear it." I grabbed his arm, making me look him in the eye. "Abigail is supposed to be her father's joy, and she has your eyes. Leo, please, let me help you."

"Tell me what you know!" Leo spat, screaming at me and letting his voice echo. "Tell me everything!" He jammed his fist against my nose, making me gasp loudly, cursing at him. "There's more pain if you don't cooperate."

I bite my lips hard, withholding the desire to submit. "It's over Leo. It really is." I don't even see the leg swinging through the air.

"Riley, come on. This isn't going to work out."

"How did it feel? Knowing that your father was trying to pursue a woman who was not your mother? Your family was disintegrating before your eyes, and you found out you had a half sister. Meaning your mother cheated on your father. Her name… Shannon Fisher, who turned out to be your father's personal assistant. Selfishly, you were worried that she would garner too much of your mother's attention and made sure that she got the message to back off. Shannon was hospitalised thanks to you." Another grunt from another kick which makes me laugh from the pain, knowing I have to continue. "Trinity Patterson. Your father forced her to meet with him the night that Raymond died, because then it would give both of them an alibi. One last opportunity to try and have his way with a woman of colour in power in his company. Unfortunately, it not only gave him one, but also her. I don't know why Trinity didn't come clean with the information."

The nerve was hit. Leo pounded my back with a barrage of kicks before straddling me and gripping my jacket hard. "She was a homewrecker."

"You're wrong Leo, and you know you are. You had a chat with Angela one time, never knowing that her daughter was Bella. Angela let slip that Trinity was having a lot of meetings with your dad. You got angry. You wanted to intervene." I laughed. "And I fell in love with the psychopath that you are." The blood dribbles from my nose. "What's strange is that you went to my dad for help. You wanted someone who wouldn't be easily associated with Hydra. You're the son of a psycho, and so am I. That's how we made our relationship work!"

He holds his fist back, poised to strike me square in the face. "How did you know?"

"The wires got crossed though and Jordan Campbell put a hit out on Raymond Patterson and sent another boyfriend of mine. Brody Carmichael. Raymond and Brody met in passing. I don't even know where." I leant forwards, inches from his face. "Before he died, Brody gave me the proof to prove that it was you who arranged the hit on Raymond Patterson."

"You're lying."

"Does that mean I'm right?" I asked, feeling the bright above us in my eyes.

He knocked the side of my brow hard, knocking my head into the concrete before backing off, seething in rage and anger. Leo screamed loudly, grabbing fistfuls of his black hair. "You think you're so smart for working it out, don't you?"

I lift a hand to my face, wiping the blood from my lip. "Leo- we can work something out. I promise, just make this stop. Please."

Leo let out a caterwaul of a shriek and I scrambled away, feeling agony in my back and face. I felt helpless and wanted to do something to stop him, but I had no energy. I was so ready to give up. I had a verbal confession – Beckett could help prove it with the evidence Brody left me and Scott, along with the sincerest of apologies for taking out Raymond Patterson. Brody wrote that had he known who Scott was or how he would play a part in our lives, he would have declined in a heartbeat.

It took three punches to my face to render me unconscious. I counted.

"God, I really need you Riley…"

Scott.

I slowly opened my eyes and smiled through the pain at Scott in the chair beside me. "I'm not going anywhere."

He lit up instantly. "Riley, I thought I'd lost you." Scott stood up, taking my hand. "Leo really did a number on you."

"I feel it…" I murmured, twitching slightly. "Is it over?"

"Not yet. There's something I need to talk to you about."

The door opens and a little boy runs in, calling out Scott's name. Vinnie, with Amanda coming into the room behind him. Her hair is pulled back in a loose ponytail and she has an indifferent expression on her face. I couldn't tell what she was thinking. We nod to one another.

"What is it, Scott? What else do we need to do?"

"In order for us to bring down Hydra, we need to go into hiding. Leave everything behind. We'd be together, but we couldn't do anything about it."

"Nolan?" I immediately thought about what might happen to my uncle. "I can't leave him. And we have nothing to get your mother off the hook."

"We might not be safe staying here either." Scott cupped the face in one hand, wincing apologetically when I squeak in pain. "Actually, we actually did enough." He went to switch on the television, which showed Beckett and Trinity coming out of the courthouse. "Someone might have put a recorder and camera in the gemstone of your ring. It was a precautionary thing until this whole thing was over. I couldn't risk losing you. Pairing Brody's confession to my dad's death, and Leo admitting the truth that he asked Jordan Campbell to execute a kill order, we got them."

I broke down in tears, realising the pain was worth it. "We did it? What about the embezzling?" I followed Scott's gaze to Amanda as Vinnie tried to climb up onto the bed. "Amanda?"

"Michael Hansen- your biological brother, he carried out a financial analysis and found multiple funds and accounts that were being siphoned back into either Leonard, Susie and Leo's names as benefactors of charities and organisations. Wired through many countries. He was key to exonerating Scott's mother."

"Do we really have to leave, Amanda? I want to hear it from you."

Melanie Noland and Scott Paulson are proud to announce the birth of their firstborn son – named Ross Paulson. Hailing from the Hamptons, they're desperate to show their bouncing boy the Hampton Beach Club they met in and are so glad they didn't lose a bet to call him 'Uno'.

"Do you think Nolan will work out the announcement?" I asked Scott, wondering if the advert we had taken out in the Hamptons paper. "It's the paper that comes to the Hamptons Beach Club. Nolan will read this. He always takes a copy to his office in the morning. To anyone else, it's an eclectic announcement. Hopefully he sees the message." I catch a glimpse of my new coloured hair in the wing mirror of the car. Honey blonde, like Mum used to have. "It's been nearly eighteen months since we left without a word. I'm surprised Nolan didn't try and find us. Thank god, we were able to find a home in New York- just like Mum as she lived out her last years of life." I sighed, exhaling slowly. "It's been hard being so close to Nolan and not being able to do anything."

"Well we still need someone to walk you down the aisle right. You promised…"

A gurgle and squeal made me look behind me at the car seats. My two boys. My adopted son Vinnie, and my biological son, Ross. I couldn't believe I agreed to name my baby after my uncle, but ultimately, it was perfect because it was thanks to my uncle that Scott and I were brought together. Now was the time for them to meet properly.

"This is Nolan Ross we're stalking about remember…" Scott murmured, sporting a little more hair on his head, tiny little fluffy curls. "I love you Mel."

"I love you too." I kissed his lips, taking a pair of big round sunglasses from my bag and climbing out the car. "You go in first. I want a moment."

He agreed, taking Ross and Vinnie into the Beach Club, settling at the table on the terrace. Instead of going there first, I walked towards the beach. I hadn't felt Hampton sand between my toes. It was about time. Taking a moment, I relived the last four years in my mind. Good and bad.

Come on Melanie, it's time to show Nolan what he has missed.

I walked back to the Beach Club, finding Nolan talking to a table just before Scott and Vinnie. "Hey baby," I said to Scott, taking Ross from him and cradling him close. "Oh, look at you Ross, aren't you being so well-behaved? And Vinnie- that is a beautiful drawing. Is that our house?" I walked around to a comfy looking wicker chair, perching Ross on my hip, letting him support his own weight.

Nolan was on his way past the table, which Scott took as his opportunity to knock the table, making a glass roll off the table, smashing on the decking. My uncle immediately leapt into action. "Let me get someone to clear that up – don't worry about it. It's fine, happens quite a lot."

Instantly, I handed Ross over to Nolan and apologise. I dropped to the glass on the wood slates, about to pick up the bigger glass shards. I lifted up the sunglasses, making them sit on the top of my head. "Isn't this funny, Baby?" I said to Scott, cupping my hand under the glass shards. "The first time we properly met, I tried to catch a glass to stop it from breaking. Do you remember?" I held Vinnie at bay, away from the broken glass.

Ross started to gurgle, laughing. I could imagine his little legs kicking.

"Oh I am so sorry sir – I really ought to be more careful, handing my baby over to strangers."

Nolan's face melted away when he saw that it was me and I think for a moment, he was about to drop Ross out of shock. "The announcement…" He chuckled to himself. "I knew it. Beckett said it couldn't be." He sensed that this might have been a fleeting meeting and smiled. "You two… had a baby…"

"Ross Paulson." I tickled my son's arms, watching him squirm with a big smile. "You know, he's normally incredibly fuzzy around anyone that isn't me, Scott or Trinity. You must be incredibly special." I held out my hand to Nolan. "Melanie Noland, pleased to meet you Nolan Ross."

Tears rolled off both our cheeks – neither one of us expecting to see one another in such a capacity.

Thoughts from AspiringWriterGirl = I finally got around to writing some kind of ending for this story – so there you have it. The semi-concluding chapter. I hope you have enjoyed reading this story
