Chapter 32.
(Harry POV)
I was still down in Cardiff with Jack. I told Sarah Jane was away with a few friends that I would call her when I was coming back. And she could call me if she needed me faster. I got the Tardis down here so I could use it indeed of staying at the Hab.
There was where I was. When I got a call and it was from Jack, There has been another killing. So we needed to test the Glove again. So I went and grabbed my Sonic and headed down there where I met up with everyone as we got into the SUV and drove there.
But the damn Police was there. We got out.
"Let's go," Jack said as we headed in.
"Are we ready to go or what?" I said.
"There you go, I can taste it, Oestrogen, Definitely oestrogen, You take the pill, flush it away. it enters the water cycle, feminises the Fish goes all the way up into the sky then falls all the way back down to me, Contraceptives in the rain, Love this planet, Still, at least I won't get pregnant Never doing that again," Jack said.
"When was that?" I said.
"Later. How's it going?" Jack said.
"Nothing yet, It's got to connect, I've just got to feel it," Suzie said.
"Hurry up and feel it. I'm freezing my arse off here," Owen said.
"I can't just flick a switch it's more like access, It grants me access," Suzie said.
"Whatever that means," Owen said.
"It's like, Oh," Suzie said.
"Positions," I said.
"If I get punched again, I'm punching it right back," Owen said.
"Just concentrate," I said.
"Suzie?" Jack said.
Then She puts the gloves underneath and the rain on us stops.
"There was, what was, I was. Oh my god, I was going home," He said.
"Listen to me, we've only got 2 minutes so it's important that you listen ok," Tosh said.
"Who are you?" He said.
"Trust me, You're dead," Tosh said.
"How am I dead?" He said.
"You were stabbed," Owen said.
"I'm not dead, I can see you," He said.
"We've brought you back but we haven't got long, I'm sorry but you've got to concentrate, who did this to you?" I said.
"What did you see?" Tosh said.
"Why am I dead," He said.
"Who attacked you," I said.
"I don't want to be dead," he said.
"60 seconds," Suzie said.
"You've got to think, just focus on me, what was the last thing you saw," Tosh said.
"I didn't see any. I don't know," He said.
"Who killed you, did you see them?" Tosh said.
"I don't know, There was something behind me," He said.
"Police said one stab wound in the back," I said.
"So you didn't see anything?" Tosh said.
"No," He said. "What happens now,"
"30 seconds," Suzie said.
"But he didn't see anyone," Tosh said.
"Don't waste it," Suzie said.
"What else do I say?" Tosh said.
"What's your name," Jack said.
"John, John Tucker," John said.
"Ok John, Not long now," Jack said.
"Who are you?" John said.
"Captain Jack Harkness, Tell me, What was it like when you died? What did you see?" Jack said. "John, Tell me what you saw,"
"10 Seconds," Suzie said.
"Nothing, I saw nothing, oh my god there's nothing," John said as it finished and he was gone again. As the Rain started again.
"Shit," Owen said. "I said it was stupid telling him he was dead,"
"Well, you try it," Tosh said.
"Trust me like that's gonna work," Owen said.
"We told the last corpse he was injured, He wasted the whole 2 minutes screaming for an ambulance, Maybe there's no right way of doing it," I said.
"What do you think," Jack said.
"Pack it up, Let's go," I said.
Once we were done, We headed back to the Hab. That was when I headed back to the Tardis for the night.
That morning I was in my Tardis. Where I was in my control room working on some upgrades for the Tardis. But then I got a call.
"Jack," I said.
"Harry, We got a Weevil at the hospital," Jack said.
"Okay, I'll meet you there," I said Cutting it and then used the Vortex Manipulator and transported there, Where I was in the car park in a nearby alleyway.
Then I headed and found Jack as we headed up the stairs.
"Only one," I said.
"Yeah, Come on," Jack said. "Here you'll need that," Passing this spray. "Weevil spray, work on them,"
Then we got in there where we catched up with Tosk, Owen and Suzie.
"Right, Harry, Tosh you check there," Jack said. "Owen, Suzie over there, I search there,"
Then We went.
"So how did you know Jack," Tosh said.
"Meet him long back, you," I said.
"Long story, Maybe tell you after today, if you would like too," Tosh said.
"Sure," I said.
Then we got there as we found it, but it just ripped into someone necks as Jack got someone out. As we got the weevil and got it out and into the SUV then We drove off back to the Hab. Where we got out at the top of the Pillar where the Tardis was. As We used the lift to go down.
Where Ianto got the weevil as Jack and I was working on a few things. That's was where we got told by Tosh that. That Police girls from before was up there.
That was when Jack decided to try that time again. I don't know why. But He was me to say in the Hab for this.
I was in the Jack's room when the door opened and it was her. I could tell, that she was after something as Jack came out of the briefing room. Coming down and into the room. Sitting down as I was on the Laptop. Then Tosh Starts laughing.
"Sorry I can't do this. I'm rubbish, I give up," Owen said.
"That's lasted 0.2 seconds," Suzie said.
"He set me off," Tosh said.
"Oh, She is actually carrying Pizza," Owen said.
"Come on! She was gonna say, Here's your pizza and I was going say how much. and she says oh whatever £20. and I say. Oh. I don't have any money," Jack said.
"That's shit," I said.
"Oh, Shut it. I was working on a punchline, I'd have got there, but it would've been good," Jack said.
"Keep Dreaming," I said.
"There's your pizza, I'd better go," She said.
"We've gone past that stage," I said. "You must've been freezing out there. How long were you walking around?"
"3 Hours," Suzie said.
"You could see me?" She said.
"And Before we go any further who the fuck orders pizza under Torchwood," I said.
"Me. I'm sorry. I'm a twat," Owen said.
"That man, At the hospital, That porter, What happened to him?" She said. "That was real wasn't it? He was attacked,"
"He's dead," I said.
"But there's no one gone missing," She said.
"We took the body, changed the work rota. Planted a false witness who saw him leaving the hospital, Giving him an alibi for the next 48 hours, So when his body is pulled out of the docks next Tuesday night. He's only been missing for 3 Days," Tosh said.
"He was murdered?" She said.
"Yes," Tosh said.
"And you covered it up?" She said.
"That's my Job," Tosh said.
"And the other man. John Tucker? Last night in the alleyway, I saw you," She said.
"And what did you see?" I said.
"You revived him," She said.
"No, What did you see?" Jack said.
"You resuscitated him," She said.
"No, What did you see?" I said.
"You brought him back to life," She said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Who are you?" She said.
"Torchwood," Jack said.
"What's Torchwood," She said.
"This is Torchwood, All around you," I said.
"And what happens to me? I'm police Constable Gwen Cooper," Gwen said. "You can't do anything,"
"Sound like a challenge to me," I said.
"Yeah, Me too, Right then PC Cooper, D'you want to come see?" Jack said.
"See what?" Gwen said.
"You saw the murder, Come and see the murderer," I said. As we headed down to the cells.
"What is Torchwood? Who are you? What is this place," Gwen said.
As our Tera screeched.
"What was that?" Gwen said.
"Pterodactyl," Tosh said.
"Hey Girl, What are you doing?" I said to her. As she screeched back to me. "I know, Girl, Be up in a bit, Okay," As she screeched flying back to her den.
"You can understand it?" Gwen said.
"Her," I said.
"Oi, you 2 coming?" Jack said.
Stopped in front of the weevil's cell. As Jack turned the light on.
"It's all right, It's safe. it's sedated," Jack said.
"It's called a Weevil," I said.
"Or at least we call them Weevils," Jack said. "We don't know their real name,"
"Cos they're not too good at communicating," I said.
"But we've got a couple of hundred of them in the city living in the sewers, feeding off the, Well, it's the sewers," Jack said.
"But every once in a while one of them goes rogue, comes to the surface, attacks," I said.
"Actually, it's been happening more and more and we have no idea why?" Jack said.
"But it's alien," I said. "Look into it's eyes,"
As Jack moved a chair for her to sat on.
"There you go, Take your time," Jack said.
That was went I headed out and up to Myfanwy.
"Hey, girl," I said heading over to her as she just lefted her head at me. As I moved over closer to her. As she just moved her head down near to me. "What is it Girl?" As she liked of rubbed my head the way Hedwig did. She mostly just kept her head there as I went to rub her. She always liked that since the first time I saw her. Then she lifted her head towards me. "Sorry girl, Gotta get back down there," As I rubbed her once more time then headed down as she watched me.
Then I headed back down to to the main Hab.
"So how was she?" Ianto said.
"You know her, She's always loved a rub," I said.
"Myfanwy only lets you do that for some reason," Ianto said.
"Who knows," I said. "What about you, I never got a chance to ask how you got on after,"
"After you shot Lisa to stop the Cyber tech," Ianto said.
"Yeah," I said. "I,"
"Stop blaming yourself, Even if you both were together you both could of been," Ianto said.
"Yeah, Maybe," I said.
Then I headed over towards Tosh when Jack came back with Gwen.
"Owen Harper, Gwen Cooper," Jack said.
"Doctor Owen Harper thank you," Owen said.
"Toshiko Sato, Harry Tyler, He's SIC. Suzie Costello 3rd IC. And this is Ianto Jones, Ianto cleans up after us and gets us everywhere on time," Jack said.
"I try my best," Ianto said.
"And he looks good in a suit," Jack said.
"Jack, Come on. Damn it," I said.
"Careful, That's harassment Sir," Ianto said.
"Why are you telling me their names?" Gwen said. "I'm not supposed to know, am I? This is Classified, Isn't it,"
"Way beyond Classified," I said.
"Then you shouldn't be telling me, What are you gonna do to me?" Jack said.
"What d'you imagine?" Jack said.
"Well, I've seen too much. Your names and everything, and the Weevil, and you can dump a man in the water and lie about his death," Gwen said.
"Comes with this job," I said.
"Ok, Tosh, Finish that calibration tomorrow morning. Owen first thing get a hold of Chandler and Bell, Cos I think they're lying, Ianto if he needs backup then you'd better be on standby. Suzie, I know it's a pain in the ass. But I need the Costing on the Glove research, and you're coming with me," Jack said.
"See you tomorrow," I said.
"See you then," Jack said.
"Good night," We all said headed over. As we went our own ways.
Where I went with Tosh back to hers and had a few beers.
"I best head back," I said.
"Yes, It's getting late, See you Tomorrow," Tosh said.
"I'll see you back at the Hab," I said.
"See you there," Tosh said.
That was went I headed for the Tardis and then Went to bed for a while, But I ended up getting up and then went to the Control room and then Set the Coordinates for someone I haven't seen in a bit. Then I set off when I came through there at 7AM the next morning. Where I headed out and up into the flats where I went to the flat and then I knocked it and when the door opened. Lily was there.
"Harry," Lily said.
"Hi, Lily," I said.
"Come on you," Lily said pulling me in and closed the door behind me. "Where have you been, I haven't see you since. Sorry,"
"It's not your fault, Mum isn't dead, Just stuck in that Parallel universe," I said.
"The same one you found me in," Lily said.
"Yeah," I said. "We were closing the breach between that universe and ours and we had this Void stuff on us which the breach when we opened it sucked it back in. Mum lost her grip. And then Pete. You know, from that, He came through and took her there. Then the breach sealed itself for good,"
"What else have you been up to?" Lily said.
I spent the rest of the day telling her everything apart from Torchwood. Where once I finished It was 4PM.
"I better be going," I said.
"Just call from time to time, won't you," Lily said.
"Yeah," I said.
Then I left heading for the Tardis where my phone rang. It was Jack.
"Jack," I said answering.
"Where are you," Jack said.
"Visiting someone," I said. "What is it?"
"I just seen something bad. It looks like Suzie is behind the killings," Jack said.
"Suzie, you sure," I said.
"Yeah, How long till you can get here," Jack said.
"Be there in 5," I said getting to the Tardis. "Just setting the Coordinates now,"
"I'll meet you up there," Jack said. Cutting the phone call.
Then I headed and got the Tardis moving where Once I got there. I stopped it and headed out as Jack was there.
"You sure that's yours?" Jack said.
"Yeah, Come on, how do we really know it Suzie," I said.
"Only one reason why. The Glove, I bet she is got some reason why but," Jack said.
"We cant let her do that again, we have to stop her," I said.
"I know but she completely erased her data from the database," Jack said.
"Gwen, If she saw the knife, she will remember right," I said.
"Maybe," Jack said.
"So we wait here, She knows if Gwen may remember," I said.
"Then she will come back here," Jack said.
"Yeah, I'll stay in the Tardis keep an eye out, if she comes back I'll call you," I said.
"Okay," Jack said.
Then I went back into the Tardis, Where after a few hours, I saw Gwen back here. So I called Jack.
"Harry," Jack said as he answered.
"Jack, Gwen is back here, Have you seen Suzie yet," I said.
"Not yet," Jack said.
Then I moved the Tardis camera. "Jack get up here, She is here next to the lift," I said.
"On my way," Jack said. Cutting the call. I stayed in the Tardis watching them as I got my Phaser on Stun.
"Hello again, You were right," Suzie said. "You told Jack we should Liaise with the police. I was the only one who bothered, So I was the only one who saw the report," As she brought out the knife. I headed for the door and got it open enough to see and hear them. "They got a good likeness,"
"I'm arresting you for, How do I know you," Gwen said as she was fighting the Amnesia.
"I thought you saw it. And that can trip the amnesia, one image, if you're clever. He said you were good, Anyway it's not much good now, I can't really," Suzie said. "But you're gonna put up a fight, So I've got, um, hold on sorry, There, that's better," As she brought out a pistol.
"Put it down," Gwen said.
"You had to come back," Suzie said.
"Put down the gun," Gwen said.
"You're the only one who can make the link, Well, the only one in public, Torchwood's gonna find out by morning, But I'll be gone," Suzie said. "I don't know where, Far away, What am I gonna do? I loved this job. I really loved it, And now I've got to run, Oh, Christ, How can you do any other job after this one?"
As Jack was coming up on the lift.
"Please, put down the gin," Gwen said.
"Cos it gets inside you, You do this job for long enough, and you end up thinking, How come we get all the Weevils' and Bollocks and shit? Is that what alien life is? Filth? But maybe there's better stuff out there, brilliant stuff, Beautiful stuff, Just, they don't come here, This Planet's so dirty that's all we get, The shit," Suzie said.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Gwen said.
"I wish I could forget," Suzie said.
"Why did you kill those people?" Gwen said.
"For the glove," Suzie said.
"Stay where you are," Gwen said.
"I needed the bodies, That's how it works, Violent death, And it was so easy. To bring them back, I'd position myself behind the head. so they'd never see me twice," Suzie said.
"You killed 3 people," Gwen said.
"It was the only way, The more I use the glove, the more I control it," Suzie said.
"I don't understand, what glove?" Gwen said.
"If I can get enough practice, then think what that glove could do, If I could get it work all the time, on anything, beyond the 2 minutes, if it could work permanently, It could resurrect," Suzie said. "Resurrection on demand for the whole world, isn't that good? Isn't it though? Well, that's what I've been working for, all day and night, The rest of them go swanning about, but I'm working, You've got to get inside this stuff, Surrender yourself to it, I did, with the knife, and the glove, and that's why the perception filter isn't gonna work on me," Then she turned and shot Jack. As he fell off the lift.
"What, who is he? Where did he come from?" Gwen said. As I changed the setting from stun to kill on my phaser. "What have you done? Please don't,"
"I can't let you go," Suzie said.
"Drop the gun, Suzie now," I said.
As Jack got back up, the hell, as the bullet wound in his head just healed like it never happened. "Put down the gun," Jack said. "Suzie it's over, now come with me,"
But Suzie shots herself.
"Jack, what, want to tell me what the hell just happened?" I said.
"I remember, I remember," Gwen said.
Then we got down to the Hab as Ianto was dealing with the glove and the knife. Then He went to deal with Suzie's body. As Jack, Gwen and I headed up.
"Owen and Toshiko, you didn't tell them that you were shot in the head and survived," Gwen said.
"Nor did you, Followed our lead," I said.
"keep doing that and you might just get through this," Jack said.
"But she killed you," Gwen said.
"I can't die," Jack said.
"Ok," Gwen said.
"But I can't," Jack said.
"Satellite 5, Mum managed to get there with the Tardis," I said.
"Yeah, but by time she got there, The Daleks already killed me. Next thing I knew I was back right there and then. Then I heard the Tardis go," Jack said.
"They said you were dead," I said.
"Won't doubt it. But after that no matter where I was. I used my vortex to get here again but I ended up a bit farther back then I wanted to be. Dead a couple of times here and there. Then I knew it. I can't die. No matter what way it happens, I can't die," Jack said.
"But how?" Gwen said.
"I don't know," Jack said.
"No clue," I said. "Maybe when dad comes back refuel, we can find out then,"
"Yeah," Jack said. "Until then,"
"Nothing kills you?" Gwen said.
"Kind of freaks people out, so," Jack said. "Best if you don't say anything,"
"It doesn't matter anyway," Gwen said. "You'll only wipe my memory again,"
"Why would I do that?" Jack said.
"Torchwood's got a vacancy, Job going spare. Do you want it?" I said.
"But what d'you need me for?" Gwen said.
"Cos maybe you were right, We could do more to help," Jack said.
"What d'you think, D'you want to join up," I said.
"Yeah, I do, yes," Gwen said.
