Luffy's POV
Luffy's breakfast was inhaled faster than normal, he hadn't eaten much yesterday and now he was making up for it. Dragon seemed to be just as enthusiastic about shoving as much food into his mouth as possible, he was in the same boat as Luffy, he was probably starving too. Though he did it in a more dignified way, even by just little.
Marco was trying desperately to grab onto whatever food he could fly from the platter in the middle of the table. Jozu was having a lot more luck, he had no problem fighting for his food, fending off the Monkey's, pushing them out of the way.
Vista on the other hand had given up, he sat on the bench in-between Marco and Dragon, a sultry look on his face. Jozu having taken pity on his older brother, offered him a hamburger which Vista took grudgingly, a slight redness on his cheeks, obviously embarrassed over it.
Once Luffy was full he lent forwards over the table, sighing contentedly. He liked that fat dozy feeling that took over him when he was satisfied with a meal.
Dragon the other hand was still defending his food from Jozu and Marco, the younger raven thought it was rather funny.
A gust swept through the galley, it caused several pirates to shiver, yet the boy was overjoyed that his future dad had his devil fruit power back. He hadn't stopped using it since he had woken up this morning. He was clearly very happy about it, even if he didn't show it on his face or say anything. The way the air would change a little or how gusts of wind would suddenly whistle past, it seemed to reflect how Dragon was feeling, which Luffy and Marco had debated if he even knew he was doing.
Possibly not.
But that was fine, it was all great! Sure Dragon was kind of annoyed with him for the whole getting the shackles off thing, as Luffy had damaged his wrists, he thought it was all worth it though. When the young captain had mentioned about how badly the the future revolutionary had messed his own hands up, they were way worse then his own, it shut him up.
Everything was going pretty well. Dragon had accepted the Yonko's help, when he had told him that the boy was pretty pleased with that, not that he didn't trust Dragon, but they were already on a ship, he had made some friends and he would have been a little sad to say goodbye so soon.
He would definitely miss Marco. Maybe he would ask him to join his crew, well future Marco anyway. Young Marco wouldn't want to leave his family yet, Luffy thought he was a little young anyway, the straw-hat captain hadn't left Dawn Island until he was 17, so, yes Marco was a little too young. But future Marco was fair game.
When he saw future him again, he would ask, he wouldn't stop until he said yes. He wouldn't take no for an answer. He could be his- well he hadn't decided what he would be yet. He would be something on his crew anyway.
Newgate wouldn't be overly happy. Oh, wait he was dead...
Luffy was suddenly saddened by that realization. He wondered if he should tell him. The Yonko did know he was from the future after all.
It wasn't just Ace who liked the man now, before that was the only reason he had really cared that he was dead, however now he had gotten to know him. Well, Luffy quite liked the old guy, he was sort of annoying sometimes, however so were his friends and crew too.
He didn't like to think he had died, especially to Blackbeard. And in such a manner as he did too, Blackbeard hadn't fought him one on one, no, from what he had been told was that Whitebeard had be gunned down by all of Blackbeards crew, that was while he was already dying from all the other wounds he had. Out of respect, Blackbeard should have fought him one on one.
He was a coward, one of the many reasons Luffy hated the man.
At least Newgate died standing that was pretty cool. Though if the teen was being honest he rather the old man not die at all.
He was fine as long as he wasn't drunk. Drunk Newgate was not something he ever wanted to experience again, it was way too irritating, he was still kind of mad that the old man got in his way of his fight with Wolfman pirate captain.
Whatever it was done now, no use harping on about.
Luffy gazed up sleepily from his spot, looked as though as the others had finished eating the scraps, he had left them. It was a miracle he had spared them any food at all. What were friends for.
"Hey Luffy, do you want to do some training with us? Uh, Dragon too, if you want, yoi."
Magician and Jozu immediately started nodding excitedly, Dragon give them a wary gaze, he had picked up on the overly enthusiastic antics of the three apprentices.
"Yeah! Luffy and Dragon you should do some training with us!" Magician said with a chipper smile, that was definitely a unusual face to see from the dark haired teenage.
"Mmmm! Yeah, please." Even Jozu who wasn't much of a talker, begged meekly.
Dragon sighed giving them a warning glare, he had a slight distrustful expression. "Why? You three seem awfully suspicious"
"No, yoi. Nothing suspicious, just training." Marco replied, his voice oozed with innocence.
The older Monkey turned his sharp eyes on Marco, making the blonde shrink a little. He could really turn up the intimidation when he wanted to, Luffy was glad that he hadn't aimed that look at him yet.
"Out with it." Dragon asked with a irritated tone.
"Okay, okay! Geez turn it down will you! I feel like you could murder me with that look, yoi" Marco snapped at him nervously, his brothers nodded in agreement.
The future revolutionary frowned, a clear indication that he wanted an answer. Luffy felt sorry for his friend.
"It's nothing ominous! You are way too suspicious of literally everything." Magician cut into the conversation, he probably didn't enjoy his younger brother being interrogated like that.
Dragon huffed facing away from them, Luffy had noticed that the apprentices had a change of attitude with Dragon, he had a feeling Marco had told them something. Even if it wasn't the future thing.
And Dragon was making a little bit more effort to actually talk to people other than Luffy.
It was really for the best, at least they were actually talking to each other now, before the long haired raven had always followed them around silently, never talking unless he believed it 'necessary', which admittedly Luffy thought was dumb. Now at least there was communication between them, even if it wasn't the friendliest, but it was a start.
The straw-hat captain was unsure why Dragon was so nice to him, then a bit of an ass to other people, even really nice people. It bugged Luffy, he just wanted all his friends to get along.
Ah well, things were maybe turning around for the better, soon they may be good friends, it's not like Luffy got on well, straight off the bat with some people.
Franky was a great example of that, he had really hated him at first, especially after he beat up Usopp. However things changed when he helped to save Robin.
The point was stranger things had happened.
"I like training. So, where are we training?" Luffy decided to intervene before Dragon made the teenagers more nervous.
Marco smiled, happy that he seemed interested. "Oh! Right, yoi. As Vista said it's nothing bad. In fact it's pretty fun actually. So, normally every morning we train with Pops, but at some point it kinda became like a game. Anyway we haven't been able to do it recently because I had my eye thing, then Pops hungover and he destroyed the masts when he was drunk-"
"Hang on what! When was the old man drunk? He destroyed the masts!" Dragon interjected, he looked more than a little concerned.
"Yeah, he got drunk after the conversation with you, he's a pain in the ass when he's like that." Magician answered, giving the man a aspirated glance.
"Why?" The older Monkey said, a slight frown on his brow.
"Don't know. You must of upset him." The long dark haired teen shrugged.
"Damn old man..." Dragon huffed, a irritated grimace forming at the corners of his mouth.
Marco coughed slightly, he turning his eyes away from them, he had a awkward expression.
Luffy snorted at him, Marco had been told what had happened, he had then divulged the information to the young captain.
He laughed not because he thought the stuff about Dragon was funny, rather at Marco's bad attempt at acting normal.
The raven wasn't the only who was bad keeping a straight face, that alone was great all in itself.
"Training! I want to know about training, come on!" Luffy grinned, doing some training before fighting Kaido sounded like a good idea.
There wasn't much that the straw-hat captain understood about, in fact most things went over his head. However fighting wasn't one of them, he knew training equalled stronger and stronger was good. He wanted to be strong.
"Right, right. So anyway we do training with Pops every morning, anyway it was pretty boring so we came with a game, kind of. So the rules are simple, anything goes, its us against Pops, all we got to is knock him on his back." Magician explained to the two Monkey's.
Luffy cocked his head to the side, he looked a bit perplexed. "That's it?"
"Yup, yoi"
"That sounds really easy."
"Sounds easy and is easy are two completely different things. It's actually really hard, we've only managed to do it twice and they were both flukes, yoi"
"Honestly it's like trying to knock over a mountain, he doesn't budge even if all three of us hit with everything we've got." Magician sighed heavily, pushing himself up from the table, the others followed suit.
"Not to mention we have a 10 minute time limit and he'll attacks us too. He'll even chuck us over board. Well except Jozu, Pops refuses to throw him over because he's only 12... which I suppose is fine, but does have to throw me over too, yoi"
"Water is scary..." Jozu added softly, looking down at his hands.
They made their way out of the canteen, passing by several yelling pirates as they went. They were shouting about something or other, Luffy didn't really care. Though for some reason it put him on edge, not because of the loud racket they were making, no, it was a bad gut feeling.
It made him stop for a moment, his bad gut feelings were always right.
"Lu? What's up?" Dragon whispered, he had stopped next to him.
"I don't know, I got a bad feeling for some reason."
"Bad feeling? What kind of bad feeling, yoi?" Marco asked from in front of him, he was leaning backwards with his hands bracing the back of his head. The other two apprentices had disappeared.
"I don't know, something doesn't feel right."
"Do you feel ill?" Dragon questioned a little bit of worry in his voice, while his face remained neutral.
"No. I feel fine. It's a bad gut feeling, it feels like something bad is going happen."
Both Dragon and Marco looked at him with confusion. Clearly they didn't believe in gut feelings.
"Maybe you have wind, you did stuff your face way too fast." Dragon said deadpan
That got a loud obnoxious laugh out of Marco. "Hey Dragon I thought wind was your thing, yoi"
All he got was a aspirated eye roll from the older raven, he let out a long suffering breath and carried on towards the Galley's exit.
Marco followed after him, sprouting bad wind jokes, which seemed to be pissing Dragon off. Told him to shut up and the blonde carried on.
Leaving Luffy to trail after them, the gut feeling was still there and he didn't like it. Normally the raven would have laughed along with Marco, yet he didn't feel like it. Something wasn't right and Luffy knew it.
Somewhere else in the New World:
In the shadows of a shack sat a shape, it was hunched over in a corner. They were wrapped up tightly with cold metal chains, however they were slowly making progress in loosening their bounds. Silently as possible the sea stone began to slack, but they froze when they heard loud heavy foot steps, he was back.
The door was suddenly brutally kicked open, a large dark figure marched in he had a boy under his arm, the poor kid wasn't looking good, his face was sweating andhe covered in black bruises.
The boy was hung limply, the man carrying him tossed him aside, he hit the stone floor with a heavy thump. He rolled towards the chained individual, bright red hair fell away from his beat up face, a familiar straw-hat hat landed next to him.
"Hello there Sabo, enjoyin' ya stay? Look I even brought ya a lil' friend"
Sabo sneered spitting in the dark figures direction, he wasn't going to let this bastard get under his skin.
The blonde was concerned about the kid though, he couldn't have been older then 10 or 11, maybe 12 at a push, even though Sabo himself had survived much worse when he was that age, not everyone was like him. He was tough, just like his brothers. Growing up where he did, had that kind of effect on people.
"Now, now. Don't be like that. Mind you, that Straw-hat has caused me more than enough trouble already, he took somethin' that belongs ta me an' I wanna it back."
The gentlemanly man stiffened at his little brother's mention, he didn't like what this bastard was saying, but he kept it to himself. He was not going to give him that satisfaction.
Sabo didn't know what Luffy had done, but if it had pissed off this man then it couldn't have been good. He might sound friendly at first, he was hiding something underneath his gaped toothy grin, something sinister.
"In fact I'm going to hunt 'im down and tear that stupid grin off his face. I'm goin' ta find what's mine, without it I can't complete ma' master plan, don't worry I won't tell ya about."
"You leave my little brother alone, Teach! I won't let you hurt him!" Sabo couldn't take Blackbeard's taunting any longer, he had wanted to keep his mind calm, but there was no way in hell this bastard going anywhere near his baby brother!
That was until the wind was kicked out of him, as a quake powered kick was forced into his stomach. The sea stone preventing his body from turning to flames, so his body took the brunt of it. He fell forwards curling into himself, blood splattered onto the floor from his mouth.
Sabo gasped trying to catch his breath, he wheezed a little, a hand grabbed hold of his cheeks forcing him to look up into the ugly mug of the dark bearded man.
"Funny that's what his last brother said and look where he ended up. ZEHAHAHA! ZEHAHAA!" He dropped the blonde to the cold stone floor, only to kick him again, this time in the side of the head, Sabo was sent crashing into the brick wall.
When he had recovered, Blackbeard had disappeared, he must have blacked out for a bit. His head was swimming, it felt a little dizzy, the world seemed to be in several different images, though soon enough those pieces floated back together.
Sabo dragged himself up to the best of his ability, it was pretty hard considering how tight the chains were around him.
He turned his gaze on the kid on the floor, the revolutionary rolled to his knees and shuffled over to the boy.
"Oi! Oi! Kid, you okay?" He nudged the kid in the shoulder with his head, causing his top hat to fall off.
Slowly the red-head began to rouse, he flinched slightly as he gained consciousness. Sabo had to admit his eyes and cheeks were a bruised up mess, all puffy and swollen.
"Where am I?" He asked as his blood shot eyes or well eye focused on him, as one of them was swollen shut.
Sabo helped the boy up the best he could, when he finally got a straight up view of the kids face, for some odd reason he looked familiar, though he couldn't think why.
"Not sure exactly, how are you feeling, cause no offense kid but you look like shit."
The boy smiled a little wincing, he was clearly in a lot of pain, Sabo was suprised that he was so calm and not crying over his injuries, he knew Luffy would have probably done so when he was little.
"Who are you?"
"The name's Sabo. Don't worry I'm going to get us out of here." Sabo said grinning at him reassuringly, he wasn't entirely if he could see it though.
"Great! Uh, question?" The boy said as he tried to pull the ropes off from around his wrists with his teeth. Sabo had to admit the boy had some real spunk, he was taking this all really well.
"Sure what is it? Here let me see if I can loosen those for you"
Sabo lent over the kids binds when he offered them, the blonde imbued armament haki into his teeth and tore off the rope with ease.
The boy grinned, flexing his hands before he began trying to pull off Sabo's chains, they were much looser then before from all the struggling the revolutionary had done and the red-head was making quick work of untangling them.
"Kid your question?" Sabo prompted, it was a good idea to keep the boy preoccupied for as long as possible, he didn't want him to suddenly start over thinking stuff and start panicking.
To be honest though, the kid was doing really well, all things considered. Most kids, no, most adults too would have just broken down in such a situation. Sabo was impressed.
"Oh, yeah. Uh, who am I? I can't remember"
The blonde paused, that didn't sound like a good question... Okay maybe the kid wasn't doing so well after all. Amnesia was a real bitch!
Sabo would know, he had lost his memory for 10 years.
