The Path A Ninja Walks...

Chapter Thirty-One

~Forever Bound~

A/N: WARNING-The character known as Sage Amesawa uses a lot of profanity and colorful language as part of his "colorful" personality. Be prepared if you are sensitive to that. Please note it is not because I condone such manner of speech, and also the character does not mean to use it as a way to be harmful, it is just his personality.

"H-Hold on..." Hana stammered with her words, "D...Did that woman say...dead!?"

Sage bit his tongue. He shifted a sideways glance towards Saseme, who had a cold sweat coming from her. Her eyes quivered...her body shivered...the murderous inten...the blood lust...all of it...was becoming far too much to handle all at once. To calm her nerves, Sage slid a hand over her pale hand and wrapped it warmly, the squeeze working as a jolt to her heart beat to start pumping right again.

Sharp gasps sounded from all of them as a sudden flash of red an black took over their vision. It was swift. It was bloody.

Kunai landed in each forhead including those that were hiding...

This was their death.

"Ah..." Suddenly...Saseme's heart started beating again...her vision slowly regained. As though upon impulse...her eyes had activated and revealed the reality of the situation.

It's...a Genjutsu...

She thought to herself. She slowly looked around her...everyone had been caught in the same spell...but surely they would snap from it soon enough once they realize the trap. She scanned her surroundings...all bodies were ccounted for...except for her brother's missing team mate Naruto. But he was missing before.

Where ever he is...I hope he comes back quick...

She thought to herself.

Dumb ass or not...we may need all the help we can get to take an enemy like this down...

Her eyes narrowed.

There was no way this was any ordinary Genin...

Sasuke hunched over and wretched...falling back into consciousness. From what his sister could gathered...he was realizing the reality and she sighed in relief.

Good...it looks like Sasuke is realizing it was an illusion too...

She thought to herself.

But it was more than just some mere illusion...

Her thirst for blood is almost palpable...

Sasuke thought to himself.

Looking in her eyes...I saw the moment of my own death!

Who is she!?

WHAT is she!?

He glanced over and tried to get the attention of his pink haired team mate...but it was no use.

She's got it worse than me...

He thought to himself.

We've got to get out of here!

Get away from her...

As he slowly scanned back and took in the presence before him another one caught his attention. His reflection... staring back into his eyes. They widened and for that moment...his thoughts were clear as days to her mind...

"...She's Death..." Saseme whispered, as though repeating just what her brother was thinking.

Sage and Hana were still trapped in their illusion...she had no choice. If she stayed still the chances were that woman would find and kill them all in one place. She had to move. She needed to distract the enemy from finding her team mates just until they woke up and were able to fight again. The girl leapt from the cover of her hiding spot and threw a Kunai toward the enemy. A distraction for her brother to move while she moved quickly as well so as not to leave this woman to target her remaining team mates that remained hidden in their nightmare.

"You BRAT-!" the woman hissed as she followed the direction of the running Saseme who refused to remain still in the same spot for long with each throw of a knife.

"Saseme!" Sasuke called out, as his twin sister stood between them and lifted his arm to pull him to his feet.

"Get up! look sharp!" she snapped.

"Ah...Saseme..." he blinked as he noticed his sister's eyes had crimsoned. The tomoi wither her eyes becoming clearer the longer she kept it active.

"Is that...your Sharingan?" he asked.

"That was a Genjutsu...and a powerful one." she said to him, "You saw it too...didn't you?"

"Ah...yeah...I did." he said to her.

"Listen!" she said to him, "You need to move, get her, find Naruto and get the hell out of here-"

"N-No I c-can't- What about... y-you!?" he said as he grasped her arm tightly with atrembling hand. This was the first time he had touched his twin sister in so many years...

The first time he had ever been close enough to her to do so in a very long time...And this was no illusion.

He could see her...feel her...and look into her eyes once again. WIth her this close, he felt whole, and he didn't want to break in half again...

"I c-can't leave... you..." he said to her, "...N-Not again-I-won't!"

"Now's not the time to be sentimental, Sasuke!" she said to him. Though she too felt the jolt of their connection and took her hand in his.

"We are twins..." she said to him, "Forever bound...there's no where you can go that I won't be connected to you." she blinked, "...but if we all have a hope's chance in Hell in surviving this...then we HAVE to divide." she stated, "She's by herself she can't come at us all at once so easily-"

"B-But-"

"Hahahaha..." the woman gave a sinister laugh, "You're paralyzed with fear~"

"She's right, Sasuke!" Saseme stated, "You need to MOVE!" she snapped, and tried to yank her brother up once again.

But he wasn't budging easily.

Wh...What's wrong with me...?

He thought to himself.

Come on Sasuke...Move...You have got...to...MOVE!

He forcibly lifted a trembling arm to reach into his holster and pull a Kunai from it.

That's it...!

"That's it, Sasuke..." Saseme said to him, "Little by little Sasuke...but you've got to move..!"

"My...isn't that sweet~?" the woman chuckled, "Baby sister to her dear Twin Brother's rescue~"

Saseme shot a crimson glare at her.

Oooh...her eyes are pretty well advanced arenlt they?

The woman thought to herself as she studied over Saseme. Her Sharingan was active...those eyes were the target of her desires all along...the Uchiha eyes. However...She could see even from here that Saseme had weakened quite considerably. Her knees visibly shook if she stood still for too long.

That does me little good...but...

"Ahh..." her eyes shifted to Sasuke who was now on his feet with a Kunai in hand, "Very good..." she said softly, "Now what happens?"

It's no use...

Sasuke thought to himself.

I can't move!

"Don't worry, I'll make it quick..." the woman chuckled as she approached nearer and nearer with Kunai in hand, "But then again, I don't really have to tell you that do I?" she asked, "After all...you saw it with your own eyes..."

"The HELL you will!" Saseme snapped as she stepped in front of her brother between the two.
"S-Saseme...what are you-"

"It's okay!" she said to him, "You... and him...you two were always the ones Father looked at...more so than he ever did at me...Even before that incident occured...he was always far more proud of you..." she said to him. His eyes widened slightly as he listened.

"At least this way...I'll be doing my duty as your sister, right?" she said to him, "...I will finally...be doing something right with my life..."

"Saseme..."

The woman chuckled.

"Oh so sentimental~" she snickered, "I expected this to be more of a challenge..." she smirked, "How disappointing~"

With a flick of a wrist the Kunai was thrown. There was a splattering of blood, and Saseme's echoing scream.
