Sophie wad horrified by what she saw on the surface. The battle raged on, two sides, head to head, but one thing was clear: one side was vastly outnumbered.
Dex and Stina were, surprisingly, taking on multiple Neverseen members together, back to back while throwing gadgets.
Linh ran to join her brother, who was battling Ruy alongside Wylie, who was clutching his stomach. Linh leaped in front of Wylie, guarding him from another cloaked figure who had joined Ruy.
It seemed that Biana had taken the chance to fight Vespera, but while she had given Vespera a few scars of her own, Biana's shoulder was severely wounded. She was standing her ground, using her ability to disappear as a great advantage, but Sophie could tell that she couldn't go on much longer.
And they weren't the only ones who had been injured. Grady was using his ability to hold off five cloaked figures, while cradling what looked like a broken arm. And there were many other's who had taken hits, whether small or severe.
Apparently, the triplets had snuck into the battle. Bex was taunting a Neverseen Charger, who would attempt to blast her with electricity, but it just went right through her. She was lucky that she was a Phaser. Lex was randomly blasting cloaked figures with ice while yelling lines like, "TAKE THAT YOU STUPID TRAITORS!" Lastly, Rex was throwing elixirs alongside his father, Kesler.
Sophie then spotted Gethen, who was fighting Mr. Forkle. An odd sight.
She walked over to join the battle.
She had been waiting for this.
When Sophie reached Gethen, she attempted to use her inflicting, but when it didn't work, she realized that he was wearing one of their ability protection caps.
"Screw this," she whispered under her breath, grabbing a a goblin throwing star that she had equipped herself with moments earlier. He simply used his telekinesis to deflect the weapon.
She continued to hit him with everything she had, but he didn't make any effort to fight back, only moving to counteract her attacks.
She began to wonder if her earlier words had effected him somehow, if he was questioning his loyalties.
But then she felt a presence in her mind. "Give up, before I am forced to use a weapon far more powerful than a meddler." he ordered, his voice filling her mind.
"No. I know my loyalties, and I fight for my beliefs! I'm not going to stop just because your overconfident!"
His mental image seemed to scowl.
She searched for a possible password. Something that could shield her mind.
He realized what she was doing, and began to reach for whatever weapon he was planning to use.
As soon as she felt a tug, a pain in the back of her mind, something clicked, a somehow familiar name that seemed to be present in Gethen's mind, "Akira"
Keefe noticed Sophie charge towards Gethen, and started to follow, but then he saw his mother. She was standing in the middle of the battle, looking bored.
He was filled with rage. All of this pain was her fault.
He began to walk through the chaos, making his was to the middle of the battle field.
When Lady Gisela spotted him, she rolled her eyes, as if his escaping was a minor inconvenience.
"Why put everyone through this pain, when you could so easily end the battle?" she asked.
Keefe knew that she wanted him only for his power, and he couldn't deny that that hurt coming from his mother, but there was no way that he was going to surrender yet. "Sure, because as soon as you get what you want you'll drop your evil plan and leave us alone." he said sarcastically.
"No," she replied. "But look around you. You could stop this battle, this pain, by just accepting your legacy."
"Oh stop it with this 'legacy' crap!" he yelled. "You can't control me, can't force me into your creepy plans, and no-matter what you think; I am NOT helping you!"
A hardened expression spread across his mothers face, "Now that's where your wrong." She thrust her hand forward.
Keefe immediately fell to his knees in pain.
She then clenched her fist, and turned her hand clockwise, until her wrist was facing up.
The pain was almost unbearable now, but what hurt worse was the burning command on his tongue.
"I gave you a chance to come willingly, but you have given me no choice," she announced. "You have taken pride in defying me over the years, but now, I control you!" Gisela opened her hand.
Suddenly, Keefe flew backwards, a single word breaking though his lips, "Surrender!"
