I literally JUST finished this one so as you can see, there's no proofreading. I'm too tired and I think I can feel the headache coming. BUT I took a page from Undertale's handbook and I was filled wih the determination to finish this on time.

Maybe someday I will edit them, but not for now ^^;

Emily Jane Pitchiner liked autumn the best.

The trees would change into fiery oranges, bright yellows or muted browns. The wind would carry a certain chill that would get stronger and would make people seek for the coziness of warmer clothes.

It was a last hurrah to nature before winter came and it would lay dormant until next spring. Sort of like the last days of work before a vacation.

Winter didn't require much tending to, while spring and the beginning of summer had her working tirelessly.

Autumn was the season where she prepared everything to leave it ready for next spring.

It was a more relaxing time for her.

"Hey, you planning to sit there forever or are you joining me?" a voice said, making her look up.

Jack Frost stood in front of the bench she was sitting on, a hand extended towards her inviting her to join him and a giddy expression on his face.

"What are you scheming, Frost?"

"Let's jump on the leaf piles." He was already taking her hand and dragging her toward the freshly piled leaves that the park keepers had left on the grass.

"Hey!" She said indignantly but unable to suppress a chuckle. For the fun of it, she dug her heels into the ground and refused to keep moving.

Jack noticed that they had stopped moving and looked back to see her with a triumphant smile and an eyebrow arched in defiance.

Said smirk got wiped from her face when she felt her feet no longer in the ground.

She shrieked due to being caught by surprised, now finding herself being carried bridal style by the winter spirit. When the awareness of it settled in, it left her shocked and unable to protest.

No one had ever done that and neither had she ever seek for physical touch and such displays. But this wasn't bothering her at all.

Her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck for support, but necessarily for fear of being dropped.

She got caught up for a moment, admiring the devilish look in his eyes, that childish grin on his lips. The warm afternoon sun was shining down on them and the wind had slightly picked up, tussling his hair.

She was only broken from her trance when, feeling her face getting hotter, she looked away.

And then she saw it: a massive multicolored pile of leaves stood among the smaller ones.

She shrieked and started to squirm in his arms.

"Frost, don't you dar-"

Her shrill voice didn't even get to finish the threat before she was tipped forward and she was no longer in his arms. Her hand blindly shot out and grabbed the front of his hoodie.

Emily landed unceremoniously with a squeak, and immediately felt another weight fall on top of her. When her eyes opened and refocused, she noticed that she had dragged him along in her fall.

She was positively certain that her face was red.

He chuckled, rolling to the side and starting to make a leaf angel apparently.

Trying to get her bearings and still a little breathless, Emily Jane Pitchiner propped herself up with her elbows.

She looked at him. He looked so carefree, with that big genuine smile on his face. It reminded her a little of how happy children would look when jumping into leaf piles and generally enjoying the season she brought.

She was brought out of her musings when a bunch of leaves was thrown at her.

"Think fast, princess!" he said, already grabbing another bunch of leaves and throwing them her direction.

"Now you're gonna ge it!". She laughed, already gathering and armful of leaves she proceeded to heave at the winter spirit.

As an all out leaf war broke out, she threw any pretense and property to the wind. She was just Emily right now, and she loved the feeling of it.

Several minutes of laughter, leaf throwing and chasing each other around later, they had both ended up lying on their backs, breathlessly laughing and pleasantly exhausted.

Jack was glad that she had decided to join in the fun. When she was sitting at the bench and glancing at the distance, just for a moment, she looked so far away…and almost a little sad.

The boy turned over on his side. Now she was laughing freely, eyes closed in delight, cheeks flushed and rosy and a bright smile adorning her lips. Leaves sticking out like pops of color in her long black hair.

She was gorgeous.

Emily's head turned to look at him, smile now becoming warmer.

"What a mess we've made.", she said while propping herself up with her elbows and looking at the scattered leaves, the sun had gotten lower in the sky that was tinted with rose and purple hues.

He chuckled as slowly reaching out and capturing one of the leaves rapped in her hair.

"Yeah, but you're beautiful." He cursed himself when he realized he had just said that aloud. "Uh, u-um I mean the weather. It's beautiful. N-not that you're not beautiful, because you are. I'm just gonna shut up now."

If he could throw himself into the frozen lake and hide for a few millennia, he might survive the wave of embarrassment that overtook him.

But instead of laughing at him, he felt a warm hand on his cheek and when he turned to her she was looking at him with intent.

She gently move closer – leaves crunching and crackling with her movements –, her breath still a little heavy from their leaf fight.

Her lips meet his with feather-light touch.

When a moaned escaped him, Emily deepened the kiss, still with caution. But when she felt his hand on her back, bringing her closer, all hesitation was gone.

Eventually, the dropping temperature, the lack of breath, and the kiss itself make them break apart.

Emily giggled.

"What is it?"

"I think I'm starting to like autumn a whole lot more with you around."
