Chapter 3: Modern Monastary
23 December 2057
Arendelle
Marketplace Den to
Breakwater District Monastary
Sunrise
"You're sure you want to do this ?" Topaz asked to Mark, the night had been a whirlwind of activity for her and her brother after the last two days. It was getting harder to spy on the High Priest as good as they had been for the time being. So Mark, as per the plan, recalled them both back to the Marketplace Assassin Den.
Mark regarded his cousin, Of all the cousins his age, Topaz was the closest at a day older then him. And then there was Asami, two years younger then him, and finally Sapphire, eight years younger then him., but the cousin his age, Topaz, was the only one really interested in the same stuff he was.
As he regarded her he saw what he had seen with Altan the day before. He was hoping to meet up with Miyagi, whoever he was. But instead had met up with Altan, a member of the Wolf Family and wife of Sharka.
So like Altan, Mark could easily see the mix of silver and white in his cousin, Topaz, he was surrounded by cat people. And there was nothing he could do about it. Infact he was hopeful to find someone who wasnt a cat. In this case he hoped this Miyagi fellow was a human being.
Boy could he ever be more wrong ?
Looking at his cousin Mark saw that Topaz's normal long black hair was a silverwhite, and her eyes were indeed felinelike. So this is what it is like to be a Tigris; able to tell Tigris from a human. Mark thought
"You can thank the High Priest for that fella." Came the reply from Horny Chief.
I still need a name for you Mark thought.
Horny chief ignored him. "Fact is me boyo, With Kalda offlined, so to speak, that allows me and your featherhead to take greater control." The Horny Chief himself formed from a plexus that only Mark could see. "As a result, you are able to decern everyone for what they are the way your aunts and sisters do"
Mark mentally smirked, That explains why Diana looks like a plume of bright white light again.
"Ah yeah, I cant figure that out either" Horny Chief admitted. He went quiet as Topaz looked at him, or rather Mark, waiting for an answer.
"Yes, I am sure" Mark replied at long last. Much to Horny Chief spotting his favorite, Irie, stepping from her bedroom and heading for her lab. He wanted to take Mark on a joyride, but nothing was going to let him do that, not yet. No, not yet., Mark was still a very stoneheaded stupid Snow Leopard.
"Should we follow or wait up ?" Topaz asked him
Mark thought a moment, then smirked, "Tell you what, wait one hour, then follow behind me. By that point you can be my back up, if you're needed. If things go the way I hope they go, you wont be needed, if at all. But it doesnt hurt to be prepared." Mark said
"Its better to have us as backup on site and not need us then it is to need us and not have us anywhere nearby" Topaz said, quoting her mother, Shenishi word for word. A point she had often made with Mark on the exact topic, it never hurt whatsoever to have backup ready in the case they were needed.
"Besides" Mark said "The area I'm going to is heavy on the churches" It wasnt that churchs were bad places, they were quite nice, and in some cases, perfect Templar free zones. And going by what Haversham had said about Miyagi, that made Mark all the more interested in meeting the guy.
If Miyagi could make the High Priest nervous, and was also worried for the woman named Atert, then it only made sense for Mark to try and make contact with the uy, but Miyagi somehow knew of the star shards. And Mark felt it safest with him. Unless he could have kept it with Topaz or even Irie in a safe somewhere.
But no Miyagi said to bring the shard. With its help they could find something the old tom had been looking for. Or in this case someone. "Though I wonder something,. Hopefully this Miyagi guy can help."
"Wonder what ?" Topaz asked
"Who is Emisary ?" Mark asked her. She had no idea how to answer
"Are you sure you dont want to wait until after breakfast ?" Topaz asked him
"I'm sure, I'll get something on the way." Mark said, he gave her a hug and headed off after grabbing a hat. Best to go looking like a common resident of Arendelle instead of an Assassin, though it wasnt as if the High Priest coul pick him out of a crowd, not even his aunts or mother or cousins ever could with al lthe training they gave him.
Topaz lingered at the door a moment longer before closing it. Mark was going to want them, somehow she knew it. But there was also the issue of who attacked Anna, in the snow and enroaching darkness, nobody could see who if anyone had, attacked Anna two nights before.
Topaz went to get breakfast.
Vaeyuko was at the stove, cooking egs and bacon. "I hope you are hungry" she said, she spotted it was only Topaz, Lazul was asleep on the sofa below. "Where is Mark, werent you two talking this morning ?"
"He insisted on leaving to meet up with this, Miyagi guy." Topaz said to her
"I see" Vaeyuko replied, then she smiled "All the more to me then, wake up your brother, and find Miao." A knock came to the door. "On second thought, get the door, I'll worry about your brother."
Topaz went back to the front door and opened it. Standing there was her cousins, Asami and Kaezin. "You're not the news paper guy" Topaz smirked, Asami smiled, Kaezin shivered
"Yeah, we saw him, two blocks down" Kaezin replied.
"Mom said for us to come back here fast as possible, we tried to take the first hovertrain from Oslo, but we were pushed back to the first train past midnight. Sadly it was a local and had five stops along the route." Asami replied, her green eyes reflected the light from inside the den in the morning sunrise, it was just past ten am.
"If thats the case, come in" Topaz opened the door wide. "Aunt Vaeyuko just made breakfast, I hope you're not hungry because it doesnt look like a lot" Topaz told them.
"We ate on the train, but thank you, I just want coffee" Kaezin said in reply as he put his assassin coat and hat on the rack and then he wrapped himself in a dark black hanfu cloak.
His expression told Topaz all she needed to know, she was planning on going out in a full suit of fur if she could help it. "You're just in time though, soon as breakfast is over, I was going to trail after Mark"
"Where is he ? I thought he'd be opening the front door" Asami said, she hadnt seen Mark in nearly three years as it was. The last time she saw the big oaf of a snow leopard was when Snowfeather was teaching him how to transform, when Blackmane of course turned him into a snow leopard kitten, and he got a mouthful of her left breast at the time.
Of course Asami enjoyed babing Mark, Mark did not enjoy any of it. However after the third day of getting into Asamis panty drawer to sleep somewhere dark Mark soon found himself sleeping in a kitty carrier when Asami was not inside the stateroom at the time
"On a mission, apparently a informant type guy wanted to see him, one on one, Lazul and I were going to go out an hour later and follow Marks trail" Topaz told her. Asami put her own coat and hat onto the coatrack after her brother had all but fell off the main floor walkway to the sofa below which now was empty and Lazul was seated at the kitchen table.
Topaz had to blink a few times as the light relfecting off Asamis beautiful green dress made it briefly hard to see anything. "However, unlike Kaezin I did not eat while on the train, I did not trust the food even after dispelling it." Asami said, so that made sense, Asami was famished.
It was at that moment that Blackmane arrived at the top of the steps. "Ah good, you're here" She said upon seeing Asami at the bottom of the stairs.
"Aunt Blackmane, do you think this Miyagi is a bad guy ?" Topaz asked
"Miyagi ?" Blackmane balked briefly, "There is a name I havent heard in some time." Miyagi for a time was one of her teachers when she was learning her magic. Blackmane learned through Miyagi how not to rely on her magic, which was more helpful then most things.
Miyagi might as well be a family member long since forgotten but also one who worked in the shadows to ensure everything in the public light could run so smoothly.
"So he's a good guy then right, mom ?" Asami said as Topaz was confused, Blackmane smirked as she came down the steps. A nod however was given.
"Topaz, Asami, I would like you two to see what happened to Anna, if anything your noses are the strongest in the family as it is. Irie is finishing the armor last I knew for you and Kaezin." Blackmane told Asami.
"What happened to Anna ?" Asami asked, suddenly concerned as to what occurred while she and her brother was away.
"Apparently she collapsed because she was so tired, but she suffered whiplash upon impact with the road." Blackmane replied.
"So what she did not tell Mark, you want us to find out ?" Asami asked
"Exactly, I'll send Kaezin and Lazul after Mark in an hour, in the meantime, you two get some breakfast, and then go to where Princess Anna is staying. There are two guards within the place, both women I trust. They are after all, members of the Kopekh." Blackmane said
"Even though Anna was outside the Taelieon District when she was struck by something, either sleep or otherwise, she somehow was alone." Topaz mused aloud as the three headed for the kitchen, Kaezin, warming himself by the fire heard his mothers words. And briefly looked up to the main level of the den.
The three sat down to breakfast, the meal passed mostly in silence as Blackmane was more focused on the news paper and was also interested in what kept Asami and Kaezin from arriving in a timely manner. It took them the full ten hours to get to Arendelle from Oslo by overtrain. However once told it was a local route they had to take, Blackmane did not pressure or punish for answers.
Breakfast done, the two women of Topaz and Asami headed for the coatrack, Asami wanted toi know more about this Kopekh group, Topaz knowing just enough to get by had to smile at her cousins words in the question. "They have a lot of... isometric designs in their outfits. Mongolian, you'll like them." Asami had been stationed in Silk Road area of China on the border of the Gobi Desert for a few weeks and only had been able to meet a few Mongolians as it was.
The two women headed onto their mission. Topaz had to briefly wonder how Mark was faring as she parted ways with her brother for the day, and much to a complaining Kaezin, headed off with Asami somewhere else.
-8-8-8-
In the Breakwater District, Mark found himself at a public park he hadnt visited in a long time, he spotted the old tower not far away where he remembered lighting a signal fire to clear it of Templar influence entirely.
Stepping to a bench he sat down, his back to a statue of apparently one of the founders of the District, a guy named Thomas Brekker. An Assassin by the look of him.
"I wondered when you would arrive" came a cultured older voice. Mark turned his gaze slightly, an older man, a dark torishell patterned calico Siamese like fellow if Mark had to be exact on the breed stood a pace or two away.
"Miyagi, I presume ?" Mark asked the catman
"Indeed master Wolfe." Miyagi replied, the two men sat then in silence for a moment, finally "Did you bring it ?"
"I did, but I do not know why or how you know of it " Mark told him, he gave Miyagi a hard look, "You start telling me what you know, and maybe I will let you see it."
"A woman named Emisary had a vision recently, and contacted me with the information concerning six stars. You have one of them ?" Miyagi replied, he looked at Mark calmly as he sat upon the bench.
"I have one, yes, my cousin has another, and one of my Assasins has a third, and my aunt has a fourth, Someone else has the fifth" Mark replied. "How did this woman, this, Emisary, know we had them or were even looking for them ?" Mark asked him
"Emisary is what one might call a prophet or a seeress of some kind. Her abilities to see the future, to desern its meaning, to defy fate handed down with alternate means for one thing is quite remarkable." Miyagi said. He removed from his belt a letter. "Emisary sent me this letter, and told me to find you. She also sent the information you have now that I had given to Haversham to give to you." He told him
"Haversham mentioned Atert, and how the bodyguard of the High Priest is visiting with her, more then likely courting her." Mark said.
"Yes, I fear the High Priest may try to make a move to keep the bodyguard under his command in some way bvy targeting Atert." Miyagi replied
"I see, what do you want me to do about it ?" Mark asked, he stood fro mthe bench with a sigh. "I have never met this, Atert, nor the bodyguard of the High Priest." He told the old cat.
"Emisary does not seem to care, she only knows you help them both in some manner." Miyagi replied. "If she did care on the how and the means, then she would have sent further instructions other then "Go to Arendelle, find Mark Wolfe, Find Haversham, give the information to either one, eventually it will find its way to the intended target." how this information Emisary thinks about is beyond me." Miyagi mused
"She actually said to find Haversham or me ?" Mark asked him
"Yes. She also said to help Atert and... I believe the bodyguards name is Mannfredd or Manfredd, I cant remember." Miyagi admitted to Mark. "You'll know him when you see him though, big brute of a mancat."
"Ahuh, and Atert ?" Mark said, motioning Aterts size, which made Miyagi chuckle and shake his head.
"She is not that big, I managed to meet the lovely lady yesterday evening. She is quite pretty I agree, but stacked just right as well, all natural for a Tigris mind you, nothing fake there." Miyagi said with a chuckle,
"So shes not built like a brick outhouse, more like a moving truck ?" Mark asked confused
"More like the Himalayas I'd guess" Miyagi mused with an amused smile on his face
"That was an image I did not need in my brain" Mark groused, much to Miyagis amusement as the old cat chuckled again. "Alright laugh it up hairball." Mark growled out. "Whats the other bit of news you arent telling me ?"
"Namely, what is the one item you are not showing me ?" Miyagi said in reply. Mark sighed, he knew it would come to this, but he did not want to reveal the item in public. Nevertheless, he trusted Miyagi and removed the star shard from his coat pocket.
"This" Mark said while holding the shard, "Is one of the six star shards, there's one more out there, and according to this one, its moving through a desert somewhere." He said, he held it out to Miyagi, who gently took hold of the thing.; it gliterted a pale blue in his hand and he could feel the power from it.
Miyagi treated the shard with the respect it deserved, gentle with every moment. He closed his eyes for a moment. And then opened them. "One of the stars is moving along the Silk Road." he said, "This one is safest with you, or your mother, but I do not think she is here any time soon." he said, he gently handed the star back to Mark. "This is a powerful item, incredibly strong and resilent, but also quite fragile to be shattered.
"A star is a dense sort of power, I agree." Mark said
"It is not that" Miyagi said, "Each shard contains a sort of power unlike any other. Within the memory is brings you into, it grants you a form of raw power but that power can only be used within the shards enviroment. After you exit, or come to its predetermined conclusion, the power it gave you within the enviroment it created for you, it is no longer usable." Miyagi corrected Mark
"What do you mean ?" Mark asked him as he took back the shard.
"While I held it with my eyes closed for but a moment, I had a power from it, I could stop time, back track time, see when a conversaion began. And then follow it backwards from that point. But I did not explore further." Miyagi explained.
"This is something Emisary can do, she can see forwards in time, does she have a shard ?" Mark asked, "Where is this Emisary anyhow ?"
"That I do not know" Miyagi said, "I was hoping you would know, she after all sent me the information to find you, and that you would help Atert and her betrothed."
Mark sighed, "Great, helping a married couple." He mused aloud. Much to miyagis chuckle. "Alright, first I need to talk a walk, you didnt drag me to this district just to have this chat did you ?" Mark gave Miyagi a hard look.
"For the most part, this chat, and for the latter part. Well, that remains to be seen." Miyagi said, he stretched and stood up. "From what I understand, you're going to need help, and further information. You'll find it somewhere in this district. According to Emisary, the High Priest used to frequent this area, quite a bit." Miyagi told him
"Good luck" He patted Mark on the shoulder and headed off. Mark stood there staring briefly at the place where Miyagi had sat just a second ago.
"The high priest was in this area before he came to power ?" Mark mused, he had read the information he was given from both Miyagi and Haversham twice already. He looked around, shifting his vision slightly. He smirked, he could see a brief outline of the High Priest as the man seemed to visit a nearby monastary.
"Well, guess I havent been to church in a while" Mark mused, he scanned the structure. A climb it would be. H eheaded for the nearby row of structures and houses, businesses were opening up for the day and that allowed him to move deeper into the structure as it was.
Climbing to the rooftop Mark easily walked ont othe rooftop of the monastary and went towards the neasrby open window. Quietly entering the attic space the Assassin stood and let his eyes adjust to the darkness.
Shifting his vision again he stepped towards a doorway and eased it open without a sound. Old churches normally had loud hinges, but then he remembered, most of the churches he had visited in Sacremento had newer doors. So this monastary was no different.
Everything was well kept.
He found himself in a low ceilinged hallway and he ducked through the section carefully without a sound. Finding a low railing he crouched down and crept forwards and peeked over. He saw two men talking down below, and focused his hearing.
"You are sure the High Priest allows us to continue the transportation of the desired goods ?" Asked one
"Oh yes, he was rather insistant when he was here this morning" the other man said, apparently the two men were appearing to be priests of some sort of order. But Mark could easily see the blood red outline of both men. "Have you informed the workmen ?"
"Not yet, I wanted to get confirmation from you" Said the first man.
"Tyhe brothers will not be happy, nor will the ladies, but we have to do as we are told. Otherwise the coin will not flow." Said the second man
Mark snarled softly, sex traficking ? In Arendelle ? And the High Priest was not doing anything to stop it ? Not on his watch! He listened further as the two men continued to speak
"It is possible that the High Priest will want to inspect the ladies personally," The second man to speak said. "If it indeed does come to this, one of the women we picked up off the streets is the same woman who has been driving him crazy with the destruction of many of his soldiers."
"You mean the girl with the scales upon an arm ?" The first man asked
"Yes, we find her, the High Priest is happy. But something tells me, that this wont be the case." the second man said. He sighed, "Have Brother Joseph begin the preparations for transport, and inform Brother Matthew to get the girls ready. Also do a headcount, I want to ensure we send the right number this time." The man said
"yes Abbott as you request" Said the first man. The man then turned, but did not yet leave, "What about the rumors ?"
"What rumors ?" The Abbott asked
"The rumors concerning the lady ? What if they are true ? What if the lady attacks the transport convoy ?" The first man said
The Abbott thought a moment "If the woman attacks the convoy, we will capture her in the act, she cannot resist rescuing people" he said, he had a smile on his face. "We capture her, we then abandon the girls in the convoy and take her to the High Priest directly."
"And the women in the convoy, what of them ?" the other man asked
"Let the kingdom take them if they so wish, once we have the desired woman in our grasp, the other women are notyhing more then to be left alone." The Abbott made it sound as if the women he was overseeing as sex toys were infact to be used and then tossed aside like trash.
Mark had to smirk. He was almost ready, he waited as he climbed gently and quietly onto the beamway directly above the two men. This was too easy. He had a plan this, this church was not a church. No, it was all fake.
Infact if he could, he could change things, but he would have to eliminate the rest, kill one, and it would pop up again elsewhere, but eliminate them all in one place, maybe he could lock it down to one single location.
Maybe.
Mark waited a heartbeat, extending his hidden blades from his armor as it formed upon his body. Irie was great when it came to making stuff he could rely on when he could not rely on himself.
He crouched on the beam over the naive of the church below, His mind then remembering briefly learning from Haversham. But it was more then just that, learning was one thing, getting the job done was something entirely different. Mark had to learn to rely not on himself, but on the aid of others.
But he was too stubborn to admit he needed help. Which was why he told Topaz to wait an hour before following him. He did not want help on this venture, but he realised, as he perched above the Abbott below with a supposed monk.
Maybe he did need help.
Was that the lesson he was to learn ?
Mark let out a breath and waited another heartbeat. Finally he dropped off the beam, slamming down on the abbott and the monk cleanly. A second later he snapped out a knife and threw it, a nearby thug dropped like a sack of weat, stone dead. Mark stood up, drew his bow, and started onto his next step of his task.
First thing he had to do was destroy the monastary's sex traffickers. And try to stop the convoy.
Mark began his hunt. Gunshots rang out as soldiers began to pour from various doors. Mark however kept moving, his bow a blur of motion. What he learned from Haversham helped him keep the movement going. Arrows became projectiles which quickly became something more dangerous.
Reusable.
As Mark ran out of arrows he'd snag up one from a dead man, wrench it free of the body and let it fly just as quickly as he'd picked it up the arrow was soundlessly slamming into a new target.
This went on for almost an hour before two others joined in from the other direction. Mark headed into the main church part of the structure, where the fake services were held thugs swarming around the lone man as he traded blows with a few before he started punching and blocking with his fists.
The bow had a kuckles design to it and it gave him some leeway and good defense. Pews were destyroyed as well as the pagan altar. But Mark was more focused on a few other things as he fought e thugs. He spotted his cousins, Lazul and Kaezin fist fighting with several more thugs in the hallway beyond the doors.
The thugs now split between Mark and his cousins the battle because a full on free for all. The abbott laid and was making a pretty good means of acting as if dead. But Mark had only grazed him.
Mark did not seem to notice. As the fight went on the abbott snuck away amid the chaos and informed the convoy to get underway.
By that point the fight within the church had finished and Mark was combing through the dead men. Not finding his target he spied the Abbott on his HUD and snarled. "You two clean house, take everything not nailed down, if you have to, burn it. I want information of this place and how the Templars used it to help the High Priest get what he needed from here."
Lazul smirked. Mark continued. "If you find any women, ensdure they get to any of the local Brothels that have a healer. Once there we should be able to find out more once we know the full health of the girls and women that were held here."
"Agreed, good luck" Kaezin said, his voice calm and even while Lazul seemed nervous. Finding women kept against their will and set them free, got it, that was their first objective, their second objective was to destroy evidence after collecting it so Mark could give it a once over.
Of course Lazul had to ask where to stack the collected evidence not for burning but Mark said simply to collect info and destroy the rest of the stuff, he'd worry of setting the fire himself.
So that had Lazul and Kaezin going through the bowls below the church itself to ensure that any woman or gir lthey found were safely released and allowed to leave, while properly dressed and not thel east bit in any form of truama over their ordeal.
All the women of course were mostly dressed, some of them in rags as they were kept as prisoners, but it meant that the High Priest didnt care or worry too much.
Many of the girls looked as if they were runaways, or even kidnapped from their homes. Some of them quite young and some of them quite beautiful. One or two the two young men recognised as fellow tigris, which did not make sense but made them both upset.
Trading words, Lazul mused aloud in Egyptian. "Seems the High Priest used the money these women brought in to found his schemes"
"I agree, and he aimed to make kittens so it appears, or even halfbreeds. Fortunately none of them seem able to bear young." Kaezin mused aloud in agreement with his cousin.
"Come on, Marks gonna want a report." Lazul took a crystal from his pocket and stuck it into a nearby computer terminal. Watching on the screen, and on his own HUD, the timing updated. "There's four more terminals, we each take two." he said handing Kaeszin a crystal.
"Right, we meet at the steps up" Kaezin said, the two men split up and began their collection of information, and setting girls and women free to return to their homes once they had seen a Healer.
Lazul knew that Mark was not going to like what they had found so far. Energy and technology, where the women went and where the money they collected went and what it founded.
And what was more, Kaezin had found a list of addresses across the world, two of which on the same block as his own home with his parents and brothers and sister. And also his own address. With his sisters name apparently crossed out ? Kaezin growled softly. If he could, he'd tear the High Priest a new one for sure.
But it was Marks warning of what the man was able to do to people who pissed him off. In this case what he did to Irie by trapping Aunt Vaeyuko on a model. But Vaeyuko was able to get herself free when she figured out the puzzle.
But Kaezin was not upset because of the fact his own sister was a target of this group. It was the fact that this group aimed to have Asami broken in some manner, there were notes on her, it was as if she was being stalked for a long time. Kaezin went to the next computer, finding more notes, more plots, this time concerning his own mother as well as his cousin Topaz.
He had to smile. Seeing the information made him wonder if he should just let them know of the plans the High Priest had made for them through this bunch of downtrodden fucks ?
Kaezin started laughing as he went to the last machine, downloaded the info, seeing stuff on there about a person named Elizabeth, along with a woman known only as "The Lady in Green and Black"
Kaezin had no idea what the terms meant, or who the Elizabeth referred to. But he did know that the list was in much safer hands as he trashed the machines when he was done with them all.
Lazul had it much better, only finding the notes on his sister and mother, in this case the warning of "stay away from the big thing, it does not hesitate to squish its enemies" Lazul had to smile, his mother, Shenishi was a big Tigris, easily nine feet tall when standing upright, normally she stood around seven and a half feet, mostly because she slumped over a bit with a nice slouch.
It was either that or get a headache from doorframes daily. That and his mother was also blind as a bat, which meant she could hear perfectly even when sound asleep.
But that was fine for the Tigris as he easily shimmied through a doorway after cutting down a monk or two who were simply counting the money.
"Well, Mark will want to see this" Lazul mused in Arabic. Upon sight of the money vault, the two monks counting the money stopped counting and stared at him, the gate was locked and they did not know the combination. But that wouldnt stop Kaezin from easily ripping off the gateway.
Seeing Lazul both money counters froze, both of them men, they went for their weapons as Lazul spoke, "Hiya fellas, cant we talk this thing out ?... no ? Alright fine" Two quick shots later and both men were dead. Lazul made a mental map of the location of that room and headed back the way he had came.
He had to tell Mark what he found. Mark no doubt did not want the money because of where it came from, let it rot would be his reply, somehow Lazul knew that would be his answer.
Mark of course instead was hunting the missing Abbott, he knew he wasnt dead yet. He found the old man in the back fo the church, in a large garage like space that was empty. Apparently the Abbott was waiting for him. "I should have known it would be you to destroy this place" The Abbott said seeing and finally recognising Mark Wolfe for who he was.
"You know me ?" Mark asked him
"Yes, the Outsider, the Outlander who married the former Queen. Now, you finally come to the Monostary of Saint Drussus, and for what ? To destroy us ? Whatever for ?"
"That is for me to know, once you tell me" Mark replied as he easily ran at the Abbott who drew a pistol and opened fire. Ducking aside Mark snarled something and drew his own pistol from its place at his hip and returned fire.
He heard a yelp as he struck gold and moved from his hiding place. His gun ready. The Abbott had taken the shot in the arm and leg and was on the ground. His gun on the floor, Mark kicked it aside, his own pistol pointed at the Abbott. "Start talking, padre, and maybe I will give you a merciful fast death." he growled.
"Kiyori needed money, so he got it, I worked with him before he bvecame a Bishop, we've always worked together on things like this. And for a while it was the only money we had to work with. And now thanks to you, that angle of finance is gone" The Abbott groaned as Mark put his gun away. Stabbing the man once more with his hidden blade Mark learned only a bit more before letting the man die in peace.
Stepping from the garage he went back into the ruins of the church and found both of his cousins laughing of their presuming of what their siblings and parents would do to the people if they'd found out about what they had found.
"Alright alright, that's enough, whats so funny that has you both laughing like a pair of hyenas ?" Mark asked as he stepped into their view, the two mens laughter died down a bit, just enough to get their attention on mark, with Lazul snickering like a fool, Kaezin explaineed what they had found. "So the High Priest even had plans on us even before becoming a high priest ?" Mark asked Kaezin
"Judging by the time stamps of the infrormation, yeah, this stuff is at least ten maybe even twenty years old" Kaezin replied.
"Great" Mark replied, he looked between the two. "So why were you two laughing like two drunken fools just now ?"
"We were wondering and trying to think up the most grusome ways Mom, or Asami or even Topaz would do to the High Priest." Kaezin replied, once he showed Mark the info, even Mark started giggling like crazy. Just trying to envision what his aunt would do to Kiyori were she to find out she was on his kidnap list to sell into sex slavery.
"Sadly Asami might be in trouble were that to happen" Mark replied, Kaezin nodded, Lazul had said the same thing, Topaz and Blackmane though could damage the High Priest enough so Asami could toy with him.
"So, what brings you back into Arendelle ?" Mark asked to Kazein as he turned and looked around the shambles of the remains of the church.
"A hovertrain" Kaezin replied. Mark threw him a dirty look
Lazul snickered at the expression, "That's the same reply I got" he said, Mark rolled his eyes.
"At least it was more sight seeing then a portal from a water fountain" Kaezin said simply, which made Mark smirk.
Finding a candle stand with some candles still on it as he looked around. "Find some gasoline or something we can douse the place with." Mark said to his cousins, the two men traded looks and Lazul snickered as Kaezin simply flicked his clawed fingers and lit something on fire. Apparently the air in the church was fumes of some kind of gas.
"Will this do ?" Kaezin asked. He made the stuff pour out onto the dead bodies around them and the ruined wooden pews and otherwise.
"Perfectly, it should be flamable enough. Come on, lets go outside." The three went out as Mark took the candle and found a scrap of wood outside in the streets he used the candle to light the wood and then tossed it into the open doors of the ruined church, the fire licked briefly then caught and quickly spread through the church proper.
Since Mark could not use his gravity abbilities he had Kaezin make sure to douse the stuff at the weakest points for the building to properly collapse.
At that same moment
Breakwater District northern boundary
The streets were cleared as the convoy of small trailers with small vans hauling them called for the road to be cleared for them to continue. Nobody knew what was in the trailers as the walls of it were dark, so were the windows of the vans themselves.
A single woman however whose face was covered in silver scales simply stayed in the road, causing the convoy to halt. "Get out of the way bitch!" the driver of the lead van yelled, honking his horn repatedly at the woman.
Xeir smirked impishly at the man. But it was Tiri who said. "I think he wants to communicate"
"Have fun" Xeir said, Tiri chittered and flowed off Xeirs body as Xeir activated a barrier that widened just enough for the road was clear and she could fight it out in peace. Tiri enjjoyed hammering the lead car so much she caused the soldiers around them to focus on Xeir.
Xeir drew her twin swords and settled into a stance, this was going to be fun. A bunch of soldiers set up a firing line, but Xeir was too fast and easily ensared a nearby soldier who was taking aim at Tiri, the soldiers weapons unloaded int othe poor meatshield and Xeir threw him aside, easily taking on more of the advanced soldiers with ease. Moving forwards she ducked and dodged soldiers and opened flung something off her swords as if throwing weapons at the soldiers. She put her swords together into one blade and used it to block.
"Give it up bitch! Its over!" Said a soldier
Xeir smirked. "That's my line" She replied calmly, the remaining soldiers stood no chance as she struck and blocked, sending them flying in pieces, their weapons broken or destroyed. Within moments the convoy was wiped out. Splitting apart her swords she slid them into her sheaths and went to the trailer of the first van. Tiri was leaning against it. "Did you have fun ?" Xeir asked, seeing that Tiri held the lead driver by the neck.
"Mhm, keeping this guy alive was fun, Feel free to ask him anything, I'm sure he can answer" Tiri replied.
Xeir looked at the man, beaten to submission, the man was still stubborn and quite haughty in terms of his manners. "You aint getting anything out of me you bitch." The man told her as he spat at her. Xeir easily side stepped the spit as Tiri snickered
"Aha, she doesnt like that" Tiri told the man simply. He snarled at her like a wild animal.
"What is in the trailers ?" Xeir asked the man
"Like I'd tell you" The man replied.
Xeir smriked, looking at the Icewraith, "You can let him go, its my turn to be the bad guy." Xeir said simply. Tiri snickered.
"Have fun" She said to her former soul as she let go of the convoy leader. The man stumbled briefly before Xeir caught him by the neck and smashed him against the van, making the thing shake.
"What is in the trailers. What are you transporting ?" Xeir repeated. The Man said nothing. Xeir growled, still holding the man, her arm ensuring he couldnt move, she closed her eyes for a brief moment, and right there in the street she briefly transformed. Her silver dragon horns forming from some of her hair on her head and her eyes turning into slits of a Dragon.
"Do not make me repeat myself, human" Xeir growled, her voice deep and at that moment, quite pissed off. The man peed himself "What are you transporting ?!" Xeir thundered in his face.
The man babbled briefly before getting his brain to work with his mouth. "Stuff for the High Priest, his soldiers were protecting us, we had to leave quick to get the stuff where it needs to be on time!" He whimpered as Xeir glowered at him
Finally, Xeir smiled. "There, was that so hard ?" She asked, she knocked the man out and tossed him into an alley. "Tiri, unlock the trailers, let them all free. This man will come to and have to tell his boss what happened here." She said
Tiri nodded and began letting the women and girls out of the trailers. They all looked in decent shape, more then likely enroute to the local brothels to lure in clients. Clients who were not adhereing to the local customs at the more respective brothels that Tiri ran with some friends.
"Do any of them need healers ?" Xeir asked
"Just the ones in the front trailer, seems your playing with the guy might have broken an arm or two of the ladies within." Tiri replied. Xeir sighed, "I know you had to do it but I dont think hammering the guy against the wall of the van was a good idea"
"You say anything about my brute strength and I will hurt you, sis" Xeir replied simply, much to Tiri chirping in laughter. Thankfully most of the women were healthy, a few of them would of course need some form of help. "Tiri" Xeir mused
"Yeah ?" Tiri replied
"Do you have any openings at your brothel ? We can send this whole convoy there" Xeir said,
Tiri looked thoughtful a moment, "We could, its not that far from here either now is it." Far as Tiri remembered she had four healers working around theclock to ensure trhe girls and ladies were healthy as could be.
"We send them to your brothel, they'd have a legit roof over their heads and also help with their medical needs" Xeir said.
"Normally I dont take in runaways or kidnapping victims, but you have a point," Tiri mused, after a moment she nodded. "OK, this convoy is going to get routed to my brothel so the Healer can get a look at them, you going to be alright on your own ?"
"Yeah, I'll catch up" Xeir replied, she then smiled, looking to the out cold soldier nearby. "I have a little information gathering to do."
"Dont be too long, See you then," Tiri replied before getting into the drivers seat and starting the convoy up again. It was not going to be much longer before they'd get to the brothel safely.
Xeir went through the soldiers pockets and found his orders. A smile graced her face. "Wonderful. Some of these women to various illicit brothels, but where did you come from..." Xeir mused as she patted the man down. The street filled back up with people as the convoy left, some began clapping and cheering as Xeir patted the man down.
"Thank you, for saving those women" a man said simply when Xeir looked at him in confusion, why were the people cheering her patting the idiot down ? "We would have rendered aid to you, but we were unable to get past your barrier. But we are glad to see that there are some who still oppose the high priest. Some of those women I recognise, they used to shop on this street. A few even used to live here. Thank you."
"Just trying to cut the threads holding the High Priest in control. This is just one of them." Xeir replied, she stood up once she had what she needed, the orders the man had, where he had come from. "Where is the monastary of Saint Drussus ?" She asked the shopkeeper. The man smirked.
"So that is where this man came from ?" He mused. He smirked. "My lady, we will make sure he continues on his way, it seems his orders were to deliver that first van to the high Priest directly, he will now go empty handed." He turned to her then as he pointed the way to the church. "Good luck, I hope you find what you seek there."
Xeir thanked him and was about to head off, when a shout went up, smoke was seen, thick and black not far away. Staring at it briefly she had to wonder where it came from. "It appears that smoke is from the church, or in that direction. Good luck I will organise a water bregaide."
"Be careful, I will meet up with you there. I have someone I need to pick up first." Xeir replied. The man nodded and the two parted, Xeir following the convoy's tracks to Tiris brothel, and the shopkeeper to gather a water bregade to help try and put out the fire.
Xeir of course had other plans, so within minutes of the crowd dispersing the soldier came to. Staring briefly, where was he ? The man grumbled and got to his feet in the alley. Cursed woman took his convoy! His goods gone! The High Priest was expecting a good delivery too!
Oh no, what would he tell the man ? The soldier dreaded his final minutes. He turned and trudged the rest of the way to the castle of Arendelle.
Moments later
Kiyori's Office
The soldier stood in the middle of the office. Kiyori paced around him. "So what happened, armed soldiers, rebels ?" He asked
"No, just the woman. The same woman we sought for a while the one with scales on her arm" The soldeir replied
Kiyori looked at him. "I see. Just her ?"
"She had help, someone identical to her, only, much bluer, icier hair," The soldier replied.
"Ah, there it is, the woman had help. The icewraith." Kiyori sighed, "And you lost the goods."
"They were taken from me the woman held me and demanded answers before knocking me out." The soldier replied
"I bet you spilled the beans entirely too." Kiyori growled at him, the sodleir shut up. "No matter, get something to eat and get a change of uniform, you soiled yours already." Kiyori told him, the soldier nodded and left.
Arendelle
Breakwater District
Moments later
The fire was out by time Xeir arrived. Moving through the remains of the structure, Xeir found the still intact altar, under it was the stairs down. Perfect. The fire did not get down there, but smoke smell and some water did as the stars were soaked like a waterfall
"Holy fuck" Tiri mused aloud seeing the damage in the structure as she arrived. "Mark sure did a number on the place didnt he ?" She counted fifty one dead bodies, some of them burnt to well, beyond recognition, others just drenched in water and something else.
"Master Wolfe tends to conclude business in the sense of ensuring that it cannot continue when he leaves." Xeir said thoughtfully upon seeing the sheer number of the dead, most of them soldiers, a few of them monks, but upon carefully scanning them with some magical vision that all Dragons possessed, Xeir could see that each person in that church was not a pious fellow.
"It seems they were trying to protect the altar ?" Xeir mused aloud upon seeing the number of deceased getting thicker in terms of where the bodies laid.
"More like what is under it" Tiri replied, the two women drew their weapons, or in this case Xeir formed a magical crossbow in one hand while using her other weapon as a shield of a sort. Tiri looked at Xeir, "ready ?"
Xeir smirked, "ready" She replied, the two women went down the water flowing steps to the lower level of the monastary and found a hallway, untouched. "I find it amazing sometimes that things like this can happen" Xeir mumbled
"Really ?" Tiri asked her. "In what way ?" She had seen it a lot when she and Xeir had split. All sorts of undamaged caverns mostly in the mountains she lurked around.
"The upstairs, completely trashed, burnt to cinders. But down here, untouched in any manner." Xeir replied, the two went room by room. Finding a turn in the hallway they took it and headed down a short flight of stairs. Coming to a cagelike wall. What looked like a stacked safes behind it, two dead men were by their side of the gated door, while on the other side there were two more dead bodies.
"How do we get through ?" Tiri asked after trying, and failing a few times, to shatter and go through the cell bars. It was as if they got magic guarding it. "Ow" Tiri grunted.
Xeir smirked, "Like this" She replied, using her own magic she pretty much grabbed the doorknob of the cell bars and wrenched the door entirely from its hinges after using her magic to pull it a bit. Her natural draconic strength helped on many levels.
The two then searched the vault, finding all sorts of money inside the various safes kept within the vault. "What should we do ?" Tiri mused aloud, the money was too much to carry in one shot, and if they left it someone else might steal it.
"Well, we could transport it by portal to my place." Xeir said, opening a portal while speaking, it lead tyo the courtyard houses courtyard. "Tie" The sparrow came alert as the portal formed. Seeing her sparrow and having the birds complete attention Xeir said. "We're sending a large number of packages through. I dont mind if it piles up, but if it can be sorted or at least stored later would be fine too. You ready for it ?" Tie nodded at the words. Xeir and Tiri then spent a good half hour chucking bundles of money, oddly waterproof, through the portal, rolls of coins as well were sent through the portal. Finally after the last box of silver slats were tossed through, Tiri and Xeir took a very careful once over before smirking.
"Do we want to go by portal or by something else ?" Xeir mused.
"I do not mind walking" Tiri replied.
"Sounds like a plan, lets go. Tie, get the others and start storing the money somewhere, dig a vault if you must. Just get it out of the snow for now and I'll worry of who it goes to later." Xeir said.
"Yes my lady, what about you ?" Tie replied
"We'll take the long way" Xeir replied, Tie nodded and the portal faded away. The two then headed back through the hallways. "Were probably going to get grilled by someone when we come out" Xeir snickered
"I say let them" Tiri said as the two women walked along, Tiri seamlessly merged with Xeir and glittered briefly on her skin before conforming perfectly to xeirs current dress, which at the time was now a very glittery dark silvery white. "Besides its not like we have much to worry about, most of the people in this District are quite nice to begin with"
"True," Xeir replied, remembering how the shopkeeper reacted to her decking and treating the thug of the high priest in the streets not far away. "I guess I cannot help but worry."
"You really think it was him ?" Xeir then asked, meaning it was Mark who trashed the church they walked through.
"It had to be. Nobody else would do this to so many men in one shot. Esepcially with only a handful of arrows to do it with." Tiri replied, just trying to visualise Mark taking down this swarm of soldiers, if they could be called that, and so called monks was a mosh pit of insanity for sure.
"Mark always did like to go showy, but also direct." Xeir mused, even in the dream world they had shared, somehow at least. Mark never saw where Xeir was sleeping, only that she was known as Elsa in the dream.
"You are thinking of the dream world again, sis. Stop it." Tiri grunted as the two women found the garage area where the convoy originated, it was a mess and there was a deadman dressed in the robes of an abbott nearby.
Using her magic the two managed to piece together a mental video fo a sort to try and decern exactly what happened there. "It appears us stopping the convoy was a good thing." Tirir said then upon the conclusion of the video replay they had just witnessed.
"I agree" Xeir said, she looked around the garage area and smirked, the side door was wide open. Their way out. "Come on, I think we might have overstayed our welcome." Xeir said as she heard, and then saw, the massive convoy of troops, thugs in the High Priests colors, heading their way.
As Xeir and Tiri fled the scene, the soldiers and thugs swarmed the property. Xeir held up a hand, and flicked her finger as if she were lighting up a lighter. Behind her the old monastary imploded crushing the thugs and soldiers sworn to the High Priest in the rubble.
"Now you're just acting like Mark" Tiri snickered watching the old structure come down and put up a cloud of dust.
"Couldnt help it" Xeir replied, "Lets go home" the two women headed for where Xeir lived. But it was not easy for a woman with a scaled face and arm and most of her upper body now that she thought about it, to sneak around in one piece or at least without notice.
So the journey to home was of course sidetracked many times as the two went along. Easily and quickly overcome with many groups of soldiers. But somehow they easily fought them all off.
Arendelle
Yaeko District
After the last fight only a block from their place of residence in the district, Xeir smirked. "This is somehow getting too easy" She said
"I agree. Its like the High Priest is sending his weakest soldiers out to try and take us down by using sheer numbers alone" Tiri mused "And the funny part of all of it that it isnt working."
"And no doubt, when he finds out, he will be upset." Xeir replied, the two women ducked into an alley as a squad of Assassins turned the corner. The squad never saw Xeir or Tiri as their focus became locked on the deceased in the roadway.
Stepping through the back way into the courtyard house, Xeir was glad to see Tie and her sisters Zen and Die, working to sort the money the two had found in the old monastary. Getting it out of the yard and then sorting it into neat stacks and piles inside one of the side rooms.
For the moment in the did the job. "Zen, where is Tea ?"
"Making dinner as expected. Unless you wish to eat out in the kingdom tonight ?" Zen replied as she picked up a box full of money stacks.
Tiri spoke up before Xeir could, splitting off the woman as she did so. "We'll eat here, its about time I just have a good home cooked meal with my sister after all" She said giving Xeir a smile.
It made Xeir even smile. She sighed. "Inform Tea to set the table, for three. I wont be long. I promise." Xeir said, she turned and ducked into the house. Leaving in her wake two very confused Sparrows, and a equally confused Icewrath.
Now who could Xeir be inviting for dinner ?
That was answered a few moments later when an elderly looking man appeared,. Looking at him, Tiri saw the dark calico pattern on his face and neck, his long dark multicolored hair was held back in a single hairclip. "Miyagi" Tiri said upon recognising the man
"Ah Tiri, I see time has treated you well." Miyagi replied when he saw her. How he was able to recognise her as not Xeir made the Icewraith wonder how he knew, then she remembered him from London.
Tiri smiled and held out a hand the Tigris took it "It has, wont you come in" The gate to the ourtyard house was shut. Miyagi made no mention or notice of the money the Sparrows were sorting away into various parts of the house.
"Xeir is having the table set for three and said she will join us in time, I think she was going to try to make herself presentable or something" Tiri said to Miyagi as she lead him into the house. Stepping over the lip of the doorframe and the two sat at the table.
Xeir joined them shortly after. "Ah good, you made it" She said seeing Miyagi, who smiled at her. She tossed him the star shard she had. "I was starting to wonder if you could find the house."
Miyagi caught the shard and gently set it on the table before him. "It seems I had little trouble, it was easy for a Tigris to catch a scent trail of one so pretty." He said to her in greeting.
As he spoke the star shard formed a model upon the table. "It never did that before" Xeir said seeing the model take shape of a human of a sort.
As the model formed into a young woman, Tiri spoke. "Normally it would shock me if I touched it. Or was too heasvy or too hot." The Icewraith then pointed at the model. "Why does this look familiar ?"
"Because I think it is you" Miyagi said to her.
"Me ?" Tiri asked him
"It is quite possible that this shard knows who will find the next one. And it thinks it might be you. And according to this, the shard in question is currently enroute to here as we speak, upon the Silk Road of all things. That hovertrain will take a while to get here" Miyagi explained.
Xeir took a seat. "I knew you'd be of help. Did you know that Mark Wolfe ruined a church ?"
"I do, and I know that you ensured its destruction as well." Miyagi replied
"Have you heard from Stubinz ?" Xeir asked, she remembered the old tom fondly. Miyagi nodded.
"He is in Arendelle along with Haversham, but where they reside right now I know only Haversham resides in the Dojo District. I think Stubinz stays with him occasionally." Miyagi told her.
Xeir smiled, if Stubinz was in Arendelle, that meant she had a edge on the High Priest. "Have you met the High Priest ?" She then asked
"I have, the man strikes me as a child who should not be where he is. He wants only more power. These shards." Miyagi said to her in reply.
"I see" Xeir mused thoughtfully.
"There is a possible way to destroy him, but I am not sure if it will work." Miyagi said thoughtfully, both Xeir and Tiri looked at him. "Perhaps if he seeks the shards. Why not send them to him, give him what he seeks, get him drunk upon power such as this. And even with it, he will not be able to stand against a Dragon such as yourself." Miyagi had a good thought pattern there.
"I think it could work." Tiri agreed.
"I think you're both crazy" Xeir replied
"Emisary saw his downfall" Miyagi then said, it drew Xeirs sharp gaze to him.
"You found her ?" Xeir asked.
"Not exactly" Miyagi replied, the two looked at him and he explained. "I went to where Emisary had her home in the sewer network of the kingdom. It was trashed but she left some cryptic clues behind. I was able to piece together that she might have seen the High Priest fall to his own power, or worse. Which might explain why she is also missing."
Xeir and Tiri traded looks, Tiri sighed. "Alright, what about the jail ?"
"You want me to get caught again ?" Tir iasked
"The jail will not do any good." Miyagi replied, "there is a much more pressing matter I tried to tell Master Wolfe."
"What kind of pressing matter are we talking about here ?" Xeir then asked
"A woman owns a dojo in the Dojo District, across from where Haversham resides. I fear for her safety. She is a Tigris, and it is possible she might be in danger." Miyagi explained his reasoning then.
Tiri smirked. "I'll stake the place out, if any of the thugs show up, I'll be there to help defend the place." She said simply.
"It cannot be that simple." Xeir said she gave Tiri a smirk before looking to Miyagi. "You came here to speak to us about this, but also wanted to see the shard. I think I know what Emisary means about Kiyori falling."
"One enemy falls, another steps up to take their place." Miyagi said, as if giving a warning.
"I know what you mean, whispers among the kingdoms residents are of a new group on the rise, TheDragonWatch" Tiri grumbled. Xeir smirked, she knew of them, originally allies of various dragons and sometimes evne lead by dragons, the group had fallen on hard times in world war one, and then in world war two was when things really got out of hand and the group split. A smaller group within it, called Shadow Mist Sect had begun. And their reason for forming was because of an ancient order as old as Arendelle itself.
"Yeah, Shadow Mist is also a problem" Xeir mused
"Then you know of your missions now. Find this other shard, hopefully that will be the last of them to worry about, and then ensure the high priest gets drunk on power. Quite honestly, I would love to return home from whence we came." Miyagi said calmly. Xeir and Tiri both knew exactly what he meant.
They all wanted to return to the Mythic Realm
But at that moment they were stuck in the mortal realm. Which sucked greatly truth be told. The rest of the meal passed in thoughtful silence.
Arendelle
Marketplace District Den
At that same moment.
Mark was hoping his aunt didnt notice the happenings, but he was wrong, thanks to her possessing a Shard of the same group, she knew exactly what was going on. "Why did you destroy a church ?" She asked as Mark, Lazul and Kaezin entered the den.
"Here we go" Mark mumbled before answering. "The church was a sham, the abbott worked for trhe high priest and also oversaw what might be the largest sex trafficking ring I've seen so far." Mark said. He motioned to his cousins. "Guys, the info"
Lazul snickdred. "Turns out they had info on us from Egypt. You, Topaz, even Asami is listed in there, they'd been tracking you three almost daily for six months about two years ago." He explained as he struggled hard not to laugh.
But as he spoke Mark could easily sense his aunts mood growing darker with each word. "Is that all ?" Blackmane asked in something of a polite yet oddly kind tone. Which sent warning bells in Marks head to go off like a dozen nukes at once.
Mark looked at her and pointing at her with a joke in his tone he asked "Who are you and what did you do with my aunt ?"
Which then prompted Kaezin to bust his appendix in laughter alone as he handed his mother the data crystal containing everything they had found. "Whatever is left of the high priest you might want to let Asami and Topaz 'play' with" He told her
"If there is anything left after I'm through with him" She replied, it was clear she was keeping herself well mannered, but in truth Mark's levity at the moment was just what she needed to calm down. She smiled, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. She looked at Mark, and strangly, gave him a hug. "Thank you, Mark. I needed that humor of yours after so long."
The tension in the room settled to a odd joking tone then as Blackmane looked at the three. "Dinner is almost ready, do you want to spill the beans to the girls now or wait until after they get back from their contract ?"
"Where'd they go anyhow ?" Mark asked, he'd not known that even Asami had been home but Kaezin had explained it, he hadnt seen Asami in almost two years!
"Pine District, a guy there had some contracts to fill. Mostly local Templars working in the area. The girls were asked to clean house and ensure a safe delivery of goods. That's all I know. Have you boys eaten ?" Blackmane replied, once more asking if they had dinner yet
"Not yet no, whats cooking auntie ?" Lazul asked as Vaeyuko came upstairs from Iries workshop
"I thought I heard silliness up here. What did you say that made Blackie laugh ? I've been trying to get her to crack a smile all day" Vaeyuko said upon seeing how giddy her baby sister was.
"Oh just some stuff we found out." Mark replied
"Would that explain the destroyed cathederal in the Breakwater District ?" Vaeyuko asked him, all three men stopped dead in their tracks.
"Maybe ?" Mark replied, all eyes went on him as he once more explained what the three of them had found.
"So all you did was set the thing on fire, stone doesnt burn so it wouldnt collapse like it had." Blackmane said after Vaeyuko explained the word of mouth of what happened.
"So what happens now ?" Kaezin asked. His stomach growled
Blackmane smirked. "Now ? We eat. Mark, get the plates, Vaeyuko, I believe Irie ordered pizza right ? That should be him" Blackmane said as therre came a knock at the door, it was for once, the pizza guy. Mark went to get the plates as Vaeyuko paid for the pizza.
Irie came upstairs looking a burnt wreck, what she was working on had blown up in her face. "That's the last time I try to fix the furnace with out a helper to hold the freakin' light." She saw dinner had arrived. "I'll wash up and be right with you" She said
Mark however couldnt help but watch her movements. For once he could see her true being thanks to Horny Chief within him. Iries markings of a very cute Cheetah type cat were clearly visible and it made him nervous.
"I dont get it, how can you not see she is into you ?" Asked the Horny Chief.
Because I am not into her Mark replied. Mark could hear the chief grunt as if upset. But oddly somehow influenced Mark enough to ensure Irie had a place to sit next to him. Mark of course thought it felt natural. Nobody questioned it. Not even himself.
Soon as Irie came back the pizza boxes were opened and the slicves partialed out. Everyone got two slices each, and the pizza was expoertly made, the stuff from Egypt couldnt be beat, but the guy in Arendelle was just as good.
To the point where sometimes Irie lived on pizza when working in her workshop under the den. For that Mark was thankful, Irie knew her limits.
There came a knock at the door. "I'll get it" Kaezin said, he stood from the table. "Dont eat my slices" He scolded his own mother. Who simply nodded, she wasnt going to touch her sons food.
Kaezin went to the door of the den and opened it. Outside was a odd sight. "If I wasnt so hungry I would be sick from the smell alone. What can I do for you two ?"
There came a loud belch and hiccup. Followed by a "Hello. My name is Tinker Bill, this is my associate, Mick, the Beerholder. Might we come in ? We have information for a Mrs Blackmane Elisar." Kaezin took in the man who spoke, a rather geeky looking guy, and yet somehow dangerous and oddly someone who you didnt want to get into a computer fight with.
Kaezin blinked for a moment, his brain fizzing out from the stink from the beerholder "Uh... sure, I am not sure if we have any beer though." He said, allowing the Beerholder, Mick, and Tinker Bill {yes that really is his name!} to enter the den.
Some more plates were passed out, But neither Bill nor Mick were hungry, thankfully so, Mick however was simply really thirsty but thankfully Blackmane had some of his favorite beer.
"What brings you two here ?" Mark asked on seeing Tinker Bill, he still couldnt believe that was his name
"A friend of ours, a Mr Arm Hawkthorne asked me to get in touch with a ms Irie Elisar, I assume that is you ?" Tinker Bill replied but looking ast Irie, who nodded. The hacker smiled, it was clear he was a Tigris, his fur pattern was a gray and white mix that also had a bit of blue to it.
"Whats up ?" Irie asked to Tinker Bill "Where you able to find out what I asked for ?"
"I was, but you're not gonna like it" Tinker bill replied. He then explained exactly what he had found out. "The High Priest is getting bolder then normal. Many of his soldiers are raiding places they shouldnt be. Everything else is on this" He set a data crystal on the table. Irie looked at it then slid it into a pocket. She'd look at it later.
"Let me guess, you need a room for the night ?" Blackmane asked. Thankfully that was not the case for Mick, but it was the case for Tinker Bill. Who gladly accepted and also offered his services to help Irie further on a certain angle of research and development. Mick merely wanted to share Tinker Bills company for the evening before taking his leave.
