Quinn groaned, light was streaming through her bedroom window, she hadn't fully closed the blinds the night before. Her mouth was dry and the pounding in her head was a reminder of why she hadn't never been much of a partier.
Forcing herself to sit up she wiped her eyes. She didn't even want to know what she looked like as she ran a hand through her messy curls. She could remember the second tequila, being in Molly's and after a while the night got a little hazy. She was almost certain she hadn't taken her make up off the night before. She threw back the covers and made her way to the bathroom across the hall. The thought of a steaming hot shower bringing life back into her tired body was keeping her going.
"Please stop whistling" she pleaded as the irritating sound came from her kitchen.
She paused wide eyed realising what she said. She grabbed a table lamp and braced herself. She couldn't die hungover in her underwear.
"What the hell are you doing?" Kelly asked a smirk forming on his face as he took in the state of her.
"God Kelly what are you doing here?" She asked trying to cover herself as best she could "You scared the hell out of me."
"We both drank a lot, you got upset about Erin again, so I brought you home" He replied, "You were pretty upset, and it was late, I stayed on the couch, I wanted to make sure you were ok".
Quinn nodded slowly pieces of the night before coming together. Kelly had brought her up to her apartment, she had been crying over Justin, Noah, Greg and Erin. Then she had tried to kiss him in all of her hurt and confusion. But he had pushed her away. She wanted the ground to swallow her up there and then. She wished her Mom had been home and not away visiting her sister, or that she'd had Cami that night and had never gone to Molly's.
She didn't know what to say so instead she walked into the bathroom and locked the door behind her.
The shower didn't do much for her embarrassment but at least she felt better in herself. She prayed that Kelly would be gone by the time she got out, she had purposely taken her time.
All he had done was move from her kitchen back to her couch. Cami's frozen pillow at the end.
"About last night…" She started deciding to bite the bullet and get it over with.
"Don't worry about it" He told her.
"I shouldn't have, I was just" She tried to explain but couldn't find the words.
"Hurting" He finished for her as she sat down beside him "I get it".
She just nodded and rested her head on his shoulder. She felt drained and it wasn't just the hangover. She knew she could go and visit Erin, but it wouldn't be the same. Her new job was going to keep her busy and involved a lot of travel. She had Hank but her relationship with Erin was different. They could talk about anything with no judgement. They could call and text like they had done when she was in Connecticut but living in the same city again made it hard to go back to that.
"Well thank you for being a gentleman" She told him managing a smile.
Kelly just put an arm around her. It wasn't that he hadn't wanted to kiss her, but if it ever happened again between them, he wanted it to be under the right circumstances, not just because they were both hurting. Quinn could never just be a rebound girl to him.
