My Hero Academia: Entreri Gaiden

Chapter thirty-three: Beginning a walk down a long road

Fuyuki had just woken up in his bedroom, a place he hadn't been in since the night he had run away from home following his unjust expulsion from UA. To Fuyuki's amazement, his room had been left untouched while he was gone. He scoffed bitterly, figuring that his parents, his mom especially so, were both too disgusted with their 'pervert' son to step foot inside while he still had the reputation that his late classmate Rem had pinned on him in a plot she had apparently carried out against him out of jealousy.

Fuyuki still couldn't believe that Rem of all people would do such a thing.

Either way, he got up, took a shower, and was downstairs where he ran into his dad Izuku. "Hey Fuyuki," Izuku greeted, taking care to not act or sound like anything had happened, "Did you get enough sleep last night?"

"...I slept," Fuyuki replied simply.

The number one hero nodded in understanding, reflecting on how Fuyuki had been through a lot. Izuku let out a troubled sigh. "...Listen, Fuyuki," Izuku began, "I need to take you over to Faerun High so I can take care of re-enrolling you into UA. I already called Principal Sekijiro to let him and the other UA staff know that you had been brought back home."

"...Oh yeah," Fuyuki said, too indifferent to really care, "I had heard about it in the news while I had been a runaway. UA students are now having their lessons over at Faerun."

"The UA staff had offered to re-enroll you, and remove your previous expulsion from your permanent record, ever since the investigation that Commissioner Naomasa and I had done confirmed that you were innocent," Izuku said, "The UA staff, Principal Sekijiro especially so, are all very sorry for their part in what you had been put through."

Fuyuki simply looked at his father, staying silent as he had no idea what to say. "...Whatever." The troubled teen looked around a bit. "I see the rest of the family had taken off by now."

"Your mom left for Faerun High already," Izuku explained, "Ever since your classmate Komaru was kidnapped off of school grounds by men working for Mineta, security had been upped by having pro heroes patrol in and around Faerun's campus while classes are in session. You'll be seeing your mom, plus your Aunt Pony and all of the other women from me and your mom's graduating class, in and around the school."

Fuyuki was not all that happy to hear that he was going to be watched like a hawk by so many adults who he no doubt had reviled him while he still bore the reputation that the late Rem had pinned him with (he still had trouble believing that it was Rem who had set him up). He let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding until that moment. "...They're going to try to bother me with trying to apologize to me at school today, aren't they?"

"Most likely," Izuku replied, "They really do feel bad about what all they had done."

The son of Deku gently shook his head. "...Like how the entire family feels bad about what all you guys had pushed onto me." A look of (mildly pissed) mild curiosity entered the expression on Fuyuki's face. "Speaking of the entire family, why the hell wasn't Granny Inko here when I had been brought back home? Is she stubbornly refusing to believe that I'm innocent, even though I've been cleared?"

Izuku looked a bit resigned when Fuyuki had asked about his grandmother. "...Fuyuki, I'm very sorry to have to tell you this, but your grandmother had died while you were missing." Fuyuki's eyes widened just a bit upon hearing the news of Granny Inko's passing. "...Yeah, she actually died shortly after the news broadcast with the emergency report that said you had been found innocent," Izuku explained, "I guess the shock of everything, the weight of everything hitting her all at once, was just too much for her."

Fuyuki let out a resigned sigh, knowing that this was something that he couldn't help. "...Fine, I'll deal with that later. I just want to get this over with." Izuku nodded in acknowledgement, then after all other business at home was taken care of, he took his son over to Faerun High so he could re-enroll him into the UA curriculum. Fuyuki had a very long road ahead of him, Izuku was able to tell that much for sure. It was a very long road that his son never would've been forced onto had it not been for so many people failing him.

The top hero could only hope that people would start doing right by Fuyuki now.

When he got to school with his dad, Fuyuki was surprised to see that Commissioner Naomasa was there. "Oh yeah," Naomasa said to Izuku when they got to talking, "Even though Fine Wine, or as we now know your former classmate Mineta, is off the streets now, society still can't rest easy. An estimated thirty percent of all of the men that Mineta had working for him managed to slip away, so there's still danger in that. It's why the pro heroes patrolling in and around Faerun are still working here."

Fuyuki folded his arms over his chest, let out an annoyed hmph. "So I'm going to be dealing with a bunch of women who automatically assume the worst in people the moment they hear one word telling them that they should."

Both Izuku and Naomasa looked a bit troubled by the clear bitterness that Fuyuki was showing. "...Yeah, I can see why Eraserhead agreed with Hound Dog that you'd need counseling when you were brought back home," Naomasa remarked. To Fuyuki more directly, Naomasa said, "If it helps, I can confirm that Shemage had never thought of you as guilty. She had always believed in your innocence, young man."

"...So Komaru's mom trusts me more than my own mom does," Fuyuki said, "Great, that's just great. At least someone is willing to be an actual mother towards me." Both men had no idea on what to say, given that Fuyuki was clearly emotionally disturbed to see just how little faith that Ochaco had in him despite how he's her son. Regardless, Izuku had to take care of a few issues of business before leaving Fuyuki for his first day back at school.

A place where he does belong, despite what Fuyuki had been made to believe.

Izuku and Fuyuki were in Principal Mithral's office, which Sekijiro was using to handle business involving UA students. "Seriously, young man," Sekijiro said in an apologetic tone, with a likewise expression on his face, "I cannot begin to express how sorry I am that my hand had been forced the way that it was."

The son of Deku said nothing, just continued to look down. Sekijiro let out a resigned, troubled sigh. "...At the very least, I hope that you'll at least let me, as well as others who have wronged you over this, try to make up for it," Sekijiro went on, "Or if anything show that we mean well, that we want to do right by you."

Once again, Fuyuki said nothing. "...Well, I took care of all of the paperwork already," Sekijiro said, "You'll be heading to room number 101, where the homeroom for UA's class 1-A is located. Oh, before I forget." Sekijiro reached down to a box located on the floor next to him (the box was sitting behind the desk so Fuyuki couldn't see it), grabbed something and pulled it back up. To Fuyuki's interest it was a golden-bronze shield shaped badge that was around the same size as the sheriff star badge that Sekijiro wore.

"This is a UA hero student badge, which is standard issue to every hero course student of UA while we're hosted by Faerun," Sekijiro explained, "You'll be seeing all of your classmates wear these when you get to class."

"...Yeah, I did see Marly, Ragna and Komaru earlier wear these," Fuyuki said, "Although the one Komaru had looked like it was made special."

"Yeah, a lot of the ladies in your parents' graduating class like doting on him for some odd reason," Sekijiro said, "Shouta at first thought that the unique badge was made for you, but Creati who had commissioned the badges figured that you'd view it as some form of bribery aimed to try to make you let go of things quicker. She also figured that you'd prefer the same standard as was is normally given out."

"She figured correctly," Fuyuki remarked right away, his dry tone showing that he was serious, "I also probably would have felt insulted in the case the special badge was for me."

Both adults had to tread carefully here. They understood that Fuyuki being the way that he was, having the attitude that he was showing, was all due to how they had failed him. They just hoped that the sessions that Fuyuki would be having with Hound Dog would help him work past all of his problems. Regardless, the paperwork had all been taken care of, so with the last bits of issue out of the way, Fuyuki was seen off to class.

The son of Deku took a bit of time to find room 101, where his homeroom for UA was located. He was not exactly happy with having to be back period, was only doing this for the slight hope that he could get back some semblance of the life that he had before it had been ruined by Rem. Eventually, he had found room 101 in a first floor hallway. Slowly, Fuyuki reached for the door handle so that he could slide the door open.

"...If they have some sort of 'welcome back' surprise for me inside, I'm leaving," Fuyuki said aloud but to himself right before he slid the door open. Upon opening the door, the formerly runaway teen saw all of his old classmates, as well as Eraserhead who had resumed running UA class 1-A since Kababah was killed during the siege on UA.

"Welcome back," Shouta said dryly, "I'm not sure if you know me young man, but I'm-"

"You're Eraserhead," Fuyuki interrupted, "My dad told me about you."

The underground hero stopped short, allowed Fuyuki to have his bit. "...Yes. Anyway, since your old homeroom teacher was killed during the siege on UA, I've taken over running class 1-A in her place, after she took over running it for me when I had to retire."

"I just hope you'll be better than that sexist idiot," Fuyuki replied as he took the seat that Shouta pointed out to him.

Shouta nodded in understanding. "I find myself questioning why Sekijiro even hired her onto the UA staff in the first place." With that out of the way and Eraserhead silencing all other things, he got the homeroom class kicked off for the day.

Later during lunch, Fuyuki skipped eating so he could go to the school library to be alone. He wanted to avoid a never-ending stream of people parading towards him to welcome him back, to apologize for what happened or how they acted towards him, and all of that other stuff that he was in no mood for. One thing, however, that he was glad for was how he was met up by his old friends Tengoh, Toya, Samidare and Aizawa (Shinso) over at the library.

"Yeah, what you got was a raw deal," Toya said, "And I for one am surprised that it had been Rem of all people who had pulled that stunt to screw you over."

"But why did she decide to target Fuyuki over his grades?" Tengoh asked, "Why not myself or Hikari who are comparable to Fuyuki, or Komaru who surpasses the lot of us?"

Fuyuki gently shook his head. "...I couldn't begin to tell you that, Tengoh. Although if anything, I'd of loved to have the chance to talk to her and figure out exactly why she targeted me when there were others of comparable skill, and one who-"

Fuyuki was cut off when he head a familiar female voice call out to him, "Oi, cous." Fuyuki and his friends looked over and saw his cousin Inko, followed by her friends Marley, Ragna and Komaru, come walking over to where he and his friends sat. Fuyuki gave his cousin a dry look, not wanting to deal with her right now. But it would seem that Inko had other plans, as she had a look that made it clear she was set on what she was about to do.

Jerking her head towards Marley and Ragna, Inko said, "The lads Marley and Ragna here said that they were planning to throw a party after school today, and they wanted you to come by for the festivities. What do you-"

"No thanks," Fuyuki replied bluntly, cutting his older cousin off, "I'm just planning to head straight home after classes are done for the day."

Marley and Ragna both looked a little surprised by Fuyuki's blunt declining of the invitation. The two of them looked to one another before they turned back around to look at Fuyuki. "Are...are you sure that you don't want to come to the party?" Marley asked.

"It's going to be pretty sweet," Ragna pointed out.

Fuyuki gave an indifferent shrug. "...I have a lot of assignments that I need to catch up on, and I'd rather get it all done as soon as possible."

"I can't fault you for that," Komaru said, "I'd do the same if I had a lot of assignments that I needed to take care of." Fuyuki was thankful that at least one of the boys who was with Inko agreed with him.

However, the way that Marley and Ragna stepped forward made it clear they weren't exactly going to respect his wishes on this matter. "You can always do all of your homework when you get home later tonight," Marley said, "Come on, man. It'll be off the chain."

"I said no," Fuyuki replied.

The boys didn't seem to get the hint. "Everyone will be there, Fuyuki," Marley said, trying to get Fuyuki to agree, "It'll be great!"

"I...said...no," Fuyuki replied again, only this time with more force and anger in his tone.

"Come on, you'll have a great time there, dude," Ragna said, "You won't-"

"Boys," Inko spoke up, cutting Ragna off and getting everyone to look at her. Slowly breathing, Inko went on, "...My cousin clearly isn't feeling very well. I think it would be best if we respect that he wants to go straight home after school today."

Fuyuki was a bit surprised that his older cousin of all people was defending him. Even so, he did like how at least one more person respected that he didn't want to go to the party (Komaru also defended his choice due to agreeing on wanting to get to work on assignments he needed to get caught up on). Marley and Ragna seemed to have gotten the hint and relented, deciding not to try to push their returned classmate any further.

Inko and her friends turned around and left, just wanting to see how Fuyuki was doing since he returned from having run away from home. After Inko's group had left, Fuyuki settled back down. "...Are you okay, man?" Samidare asked curiously.

"I just wasn't in the mood to go to the party that Marley and Ragna were both talking about is all," Fuyuki replied, "I swear, I felt like I might have exploded at the boys if they kept trying to push me into going to their little party."

Samidare's sentient quirk Great Shadow popped out, hung next to Samidare. "Yeah, you sounded like you were about to blow up if those two idiot boys had kept on pushing you for a bit more time. At least the girl was able to take a hint."

Fuyuki nodded in agreement with Great Shadow. "Yeah, and that would not have ended well, let me tell you." Fuyuki and his friends spent the rest of lunch period hanging out in the library, with Tengoh eagerly helping Fuyuki figure out a plan to plan to catch up on what work he had missed. They no longer had to worry about any assignments from UA itself, just academic work from Faerun. Even so, there was still a slight bit to do, amd that's where Tengoh's 'super study plan' came into play.

Later that day when classes were letting out for the day, Fuyuki and his friends were chatting amongst themselves as they made their way to the front of the school. "Even though you now only have academic assignments from Faerun High to worry about," Toya began as he spoke to Fuyuki, "There's still a fair number. Luckily for you you're a smart guy, so there's no need to worry about you taking long."

Fuyuki nodded in agreement. "Tengoh's plan that he came up with sounds like it'll be handy. And I bet that Komaru may like helping out as well."

The son of Ingenium nodded in agreement. "Yes, Fuyuki. I would have to agree with the idea of having you, me and Komaru if he's willing get together for a study session or to in order to-"

"Oh come on! How is any of what my dad did my fault?!" a female voice called out, cutting Tengoh off and making him and the other boys turn to see what was going on. Looking over, the five boys saw Ichigo Mineta confronted by Inko and her group.

The last time that he saw his former boss's daughter, Fuyuki was still part of Mineta's gang and had to kill Big Beef lest the large, strong man unknowingly kill Mineta's precious little princess. Regardless, seeing the daughter of the now exposed criminal gang lord being harassed by some students at Faerun was something that Fuyuki was expecting at some point. Still, as it was Inko and her friends (well, Marley and Ragna; Komaru looked like he was hanging back out of nervousness) who were confronting Ichigo, things could get really ugly really quick.

Pointing at Ichigo, Inko scolded, "Don't try to play innocent with me, Strawberry Short-bitch! You got villain blood running through you! It's only a matter of time before you trying picking right up where daddy dearest left off!"

Folding his arms over his chest, Marley said in an accusatory tone, "If you ask me I say that her fall had already started, or are we simply going to ignore how she scopes out guys like a kid in a candy store? The incident where she threw herself onto Komaru and grabbed his butt comes to mind for me right now."

"Once an ultra-thot, always an ultra-thot I say," Ragna remarked, suspicion clear in his tone as he regarded the girl before him and his friends.

"I'm not a bad guy," Ichigo defended, "Just because my dad is who he turned out to be doesn't mean I'll end up exactly like him! Sure, he did some less than nice things, but-"

"Less than nice things?" Everyone stopped short when Komaru spoke up surprisingly, catching all of them off guard not only by speaking up at all, but also how...how angry he sounded. None of Komaru's friends had ever heard such a tone out of him. The son of Red Riot and Shemage gave the girl who grabbed his butt a stern, angry look. "...Your dad killed Mr. Nezu. That's going above and beyond simply being 'less than nice'. It's full-blown evil, pure and simple."

Ragna and Marley, hell even Inko as well, were all taken aback by how angry Komaru sounded. Marley and Ragna even looked a little fearful of their autistic friend. Komaru continued to glare right at Ichigo, not letting up. "...Your dad is evil. I hate him."

"Dude, that's the single meanest thing that I've ever heard Komaru say about anyone," Ragna whispered to Marley, "Komaru must really be upset with the ultra-thot's dad if he said something like that." Marley nodded in agreement, still a tad apprehensive of Komaru right now.

Ichigo looked pissed when Komaru called her dad evil. "Hey, just because he killed that rat guy doesn't give you the excuse to go and hurl insults at him like that!" Ichigo snapped at Komaru, making him step back a step out of fright when Ichigo turned aggressive.

"Oi, back off, you fruit salad harlot!" Inko snapped as she took a step towards Ichigo, "No one tries to screw with my crew and gets away with it!"

Fuyuki saw that his older cousin was about to get into her second fight with Ichigo (Fuyuki had been briefed on Inko's first hostile encounter with Ichigo), so he quickly ran in. "Alright, let's call for a time out here," Fuyuki said, getting everyone to turn to face him when he showed up. "You all have got to understand that fighting like this isn't going to help. Additionally, harassing this strawberry girl here isn't going to help fix anything, just because she happens to be the daughter of a really jerk guy."

"Aha! I told you!" Ichigo declared.

"However," Fuyuki went on, turning to face Ichigo, "There's no denying that people are hurt, and you have the bad luck of being seen as a proxy target due to your relation. Instead of trying to fight back, it would be wise to simply walk away and not get involved period."

Gesturing to Inko's group, Ichigo said, "That horny bitch and her finely cut guy friends weren't exactly looking like they'd let me walk away."

Fuyuki turned to regard Inko as her friends, mainly Marley and Ragna. "...Guys, don't bother her. And don't taunt her in any way into getting into anything with you. It's best if you all just kept your space from her."

"Dude, why are you defending the ultra-thot?" Ragna asked, "Don't tell me you actually like her!"

"Ha! That's laughable!" Fuyuki replied, giving a sarcastic laugh. Gently shaking his head, Fuyuki then turned to look at Inko's group and said, "I'm more into girls with intelligence like Hikari, although I have no idea where she went. But I'm not exactly in the market for a girlfriend right now, with all due respect. But I digress."

With everyone focused on him, Fuyuki said, "Stuff like this will only cause more damage and pain in the long run. If we want to try to regain at least some semblance of the lives that we had prior to everything going to hell, then we need to try to refrain from screwing with each other and keep our distance if need be."

Everyone was silent for a minute or two until Tengoh spoke up. "Wise words as always, Fuyuki," the son of Ingenium spoke up, "Given the current climate with what all is going on with how that Mineta man was outed as Fine Wine, backing off and cooling down is a better alternative than getting up into people's faces while being emotionally overcharged."

Inko said that she agreed with Fuyuki, and told the boys that they ought to just leave Strawberry short-bitch alone. Fuyuki (dryly) thanked his cousin for agreeing with him, then told her that he was going to be busy for the next few nights catching up on the work he had missing due to the change from UA to Faerun. Fuyuki said that Tengoh would be helping him, and then extended the offer to Komaru if he wanted to join in as well.

The son of Red Riot and Shemage enthusiastically agreed and, since classes were done for the day, everyone went off for home, with Tengoh and Komaru going with Fuyuki to his place for a study slash catch-up session. It wasn't much, but Fuyuki felt that, little by little, he was starting to regain his old life back. But there was a nagging worry, small and buried deep in the back of his mind, that he may not be able to maintain his old life recovery for long.

Probably because of a lingering sense that he had some unfinished business.

END, CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Author's notes;

Well here's the chapter that begins Fuyuki's recovery after he returns home. Things are tense, and could have been worse had it not been for things happening the way that they did. And there is also the fact that, just because Mineta was exposed as Fine Wine and captured, doesn't mean that all of his efforts have fizzled out. It's like the cockroach metaphor I mentioned earlier. There will be a bit more to do, and there's still some other stuff that needs to happen.

Take care.
