Episode 33: Elaine Gets The Perfect Hatch

"Chase is about to explode with joy as he has earned three Gym Badges. Everyone is happy and have started their march away from the Vermilion City. But, do they even know where they are going?"

Elaine looks at the map, trying to figure out their next stop. Chase is excited to visit the next Gym and win another Badge, but Riley insists that he should not hurry and spend some more time training with his Pokemon.

As they argue, Pikachu and Eevee play around. They suddenly notice the Egg glowing faintly and pull the groups attention to it. As everyone is amused, Riley recalls having read somewhere that Pokemon Eggs glow before hatching. Elaine becomes excited to meet her new friend. Team Rocket also watch it from nearby bushes.

Team Rocket discuss about the potential hatching. Jessie guesses it to be a legendary Pokemon, James however argues that it would have something normal like a Charmander or a Squirtle. Meowth suggests stealing the Egg before it hatches to later claim it, stating that the new born will assume the first person it sees as its mother. James remarks that if they present the Pokemon Egg to Giovanni then he may forgive them for failing in the S. S. Anne mission.

Meanwhile, the group sits around the EggCase and carefully watch the Egg glowing faintly. Elaine can't wait to see her new Pokemon. She picks up the EggCase, but it is snatched away by a mechanical arm. Team Rocket reveals themselves and recite their motto. James has Koffing use Smokescreen and they flee in their balloon. Chase calls out Pidgeotto to clear the smoke with Whirlwind. It then gives Team Rocket a chase, being able to burst their balloon with Wing Attack. The balloon crash lands but James manages to keep the Egg safe. Tge group follows Pidgeotto to get to the spot of crash.

Jessie and James send all their Pokemon out – Poliwag, Ekans, Koffing – to protect the Egg. Eevee uses Swift on Pokiwag and it dodges. Ekans uses Poison Sting on Pikachu, but Pikachu blocks it using Iron Tail. Koffing uses Sludge Bomb on Eevee, but Riley has Growlithe use Flamethrower to counter it. Poliwag uses Bubble, hitting Growlithe, but Pikachu hits Poliwag using Quick Attack. Eevee hits Ekans with Quick Attack and the two Pokemon fall back on their trainers. Koffing tries attacking Eevee from behind with Sludge Bomb, but Growlith knocks it off on Meowth using Secret Power. Meowth loses the EggCase and Elaine catches it. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to blast Team Rocket off.

The Egg glows very brightly and the group pulls it out of the case. The Egg finally glows too bright and hatches into a Vulpix. Elaine finds it extremely cute and looks into her Pokedex for more information. Vulpix, also liking Elaine, goes to her and she picks her up. Eevee seems to be jealous of it.

Chase, Riley and Elaine call out all of their Pokemon and introduce them to Vulpix. All the Pokemon happily greet their new friend. Later, Elaine serves food to all the Pokemon where Eevee is annoyed when Elaine serves Vulpix first, instead of her. Nidoran and Pikachu notice the sprouting rivalry, reminding Nidoran of his own rivalry with Pikachu.

As they finish lunch, Vulpix goes near Elaine to rest. Chase remarks that she also likes Elaine, however, it infuriates Eevee who tries to move Vulpix away by pulling her tail. The surprised Vulpix scorches Eevee with Ember, before licking her tail. Riley notices that Vulpix dislikes her Tail being touched. Elaine picks her up and combs her tail as Vulpix relaxes in her lap. Eevee is immensely saddened by this. Pikachu tries to console her, while Nidoran tries to ignore it.

As the trainers call all their Pokemon back, Elaine shows Vulpix a Pokeball and asks if she wants to join them. Vulpix seems to be a little uneasy. Riley thinks it to be due to her being just hatched. Elaine offers her a ride on her shoulder. It enraged Eevee as it is her place. She tries to block Vulpix, but she uses Feint Attack to push her aside and climb on Elaine's shoulder. Riley remarks it to be amusing as Vulpix knows Feint Attack by birth.

Suddenly, a mechanical arm grabs and pulls away Vulpix. Team Rocket appears to take Vulpix with them. Jessie is enamored with Vulpix's beauty. She grabs her and rubs her silky tail, infuriating Vulpix. She uses Ember and scorches Jessie's hair. Enraged, she throws Vulpix away. Elaine catches her. Jessie sends Ekans to use Poison sting on Vulpix, but Pikachu blocks it with Iron Tail. James and Meowth try to calm Jessie down, but she shouts on them, telling them to help her.

Meanwhile, Vulpix uses Ember to scorch Ekans and Eevee throws it back on Team Rocket with Quick Attack. Pikachu blasts them off using Thunderbolt. Elaine picks up both Eevee and Vulpix in her arms to congratulate them for the victory. But, they still seem to dislike each other. She keeps them back on ground and places a Pokeball in front of Vulpix. Vulpix happily lets itself get caught as the episode ends.
