Still That Random Guy's POV
I didn't dare to breathe. Truth be told, I don't think I could. Not with the person in front of me. He looked like a demon. Each of his eyes kept changing colour, flickering between green and gold. It was seriously scary, and pretty irritating. It reminded me of those movies you would always see in the cinema, with the description: "WARNING FLASHING LIGHTS!" Other from that, many, many cuts as well as bruises. Okay, not many bruises, just cuts. He didn't look like he'd been in a fight, but more like he had been homeless for a week. I guess he kinda had been. Then, his clothes were… pretty funny! Perseus was wearing an Adidas shirt with Nike trousers. Is that even legal!? You can't put on Adidas and Nike together. They're like enemies. I was just about to burst out laughing, but looked at the girl next to me and suddenly realised that this would be a very inappropriate time to start making fun of Percy's clothes. The girl was just staring at him in shock, mouth wide open. He could swear that tears were rolling down her cheeks. Like I said, the wrong time for the right joke.
"Is that you Artemis?" Perseus asked, walking towards the girl next to me. My fists clenched. After everything she had done, 'Artemis' was still the first name that came to his mind. The girl didn't even look like Artemis.
"It's not Artemis," she whispered, looking mortified and saddened. Percy frowned.
"Yes it is," he protested. "We must be in Apollo's hospital!" he said, pointing around him. Either we were in a completely different room or Apollo had very cheap temples and hospitals. Honestly, I'm actually debating the last one.
"Lead him down to the kitchen," the girl whispered urgently, walking right past Percy. This made him pretty mad. At once, Perseus started following the girl who was already at the bottom of the stairs. Well, I guess that worked! I quickly slipped past Percy and sprinted down the stairs, taking them 3 at a time, until I was right besides the girl who was already in the main kitchen, whisking herbs away. As he came closer, he was aware that she was muttering under her breath.
"Never before have I seen it. I thought it was impossible. Of course, if it was anyone, it would've been him, but still."
"What's going on?" I asked, skipping the Adidas joke, sensing the urgency of the situation. The girl barely registered me.
"Mingetopouveior Syndrome," she quickly said to me, focusing all her attention on what looked like a mush bowl.
"Since when have you become a PHD doctor," I hissed into her ear. "Cut to the chase and answer me!" The girl rolled her eyes, muttering something about not knowing what a PHD or what a doctor was. Then, we had incoming at 6'oclock.
Percy nearly knocked into us, and was now half screaming.
"Let me explain this to Zeus, and then I can let you rot in Tartarus!" Well I had no problem with any of those comments, assuming he was still talking to Artemis.
"Perseus has a problem-"
"I kinda figured that part out," I interrupted. The girl stared intensely at me, irritated about being interrupted. I sighed.
"Perseus has a problem where his powers are imbalanced. It's an extremely rare disorder, and I've never seen it. In fact, I thought it couldn't happen! What's happening is that his body has gone through a big change, most likely emotional." I nodded, fearing what had happened to him over the last few weeks. I had only heard rumors, and they had given ME nightmares.
"In gods with 2 different, powerful domains, the domains fight within the body to prove who is greater, like the fight between romans and greeks. Now in Percy here, the fight is now on an emotional scale, as well as physical scale. The result is, every now and again, one domain massively overpowering the other. When this happens, something too small for your tiny brain to comprehend happens." I pouted. "Think of it like this. The flow of reality through the body changed so much that the affected can end up seeing 4D visions."
"Cool!" I yelled. I've always wanted to see life from a different angle. Plus, Percy's powers of one domain must be soooo high!
"NO!" the girl yelled slamming her mush onto the counter, and I leapt back. "It is NOT cool! Perseus here is seeing things that are not meant to be seen. LIKE TARTARUS! His mind cannot comprehend it, so he's getting hallucinations instead! That's why I need you to shut up for one minute so that I can remember this "useless" potion that will help relax his domains."
I didn't even know if that was possible, but just let her do what she was doing. To be honest, I didn't understand a word she had just said. I just stood in the corner of the kitchen, listening to Percy ravage madeley about his hallucinations.
17 minutes. 17 minutes is how long it took the girl to make this potion. Then, another 10 minutes to coax it into him, spoon by spoon. Each time he sipped it, his eyes grew clearer, and he seemed to talk less gibberish. I imagined what it was like for him. He was seeing half a 4D world, and half a 3D world. I guess 3.5D is now a thing.
Perseus stood up, looking around. He seemed confused. Sane, but confused. After a while, he set his eyes on us, and all of a sudden, softened up. Perhaps there were tears in his eyes: I couldn't tell.
"Afternoon Calypso," he nodded, acknowledging her. "Where's Leo?" This is proof that Perseus has a heart too big for his chest. The first thing he said after going through that disease Calypso said was where his friend was. Calypso's eyes shimmered, quite literally.
"It's a long story," she whispered, running and giving Perseus the longest hug ever. I'm certain that he had wet her shirt. This was very emotional, and I felt like a third wheel.
After what could've been hours, they broke apart, and Calypso stared at me, giving him a sheepish grin. I knew that there was no relationship between them and that they were good friends, but it DID look pretty awkward. Calypso's hot, but not my type.
I was snapped out of my thoughts once I realized that Percy was still staring intently at me. He was trying to figure out who I was, I thought, smirking underneath the mask I had grown accustomed to wearing. He didn't want Calypso to know who he was, especially after knowing what Leo had told her!
"I don't think I'll ever stop owing you, Nico?" Perseus said smirking, and I realized that was the first time someone had used my name in weeks.
I know it's been a while, but any good?
