Taiki searched for a way to make a plan. He didn't want to charge blindly. Still, he had nothing and the patrol was too close now. They had to act.

"We strike and Darkknightmon bring down the Pillar," the boy told them his plan. A short one with what he had.

"I'll do it," the dark knight replied inside Nene's Xros loader.

The group nodded. They waited for the perfect moment to begin their ambush. Once they did so, their presence would be revealed.

"Go," Nene whispered.

The Digimons jumped out of their cover. They charged at the soldiers of the Death General and chaos ensued.

Nene waited for her chance. Once she got one, she approached the pillar, so she would let Darkknightmon out as close as possible. She gave a nod to the other two humans and approached it.

Chapter 32: Down With The Pillar

Akari noticed a Digimon flying away from their location. She knew that the alert was about to be sent, "Taiki. One of them left to alert that NeoVam…demon," she warned him.

Her friend nodded and said in his Xros Loader, "Nene. They are sending the alert now. Careful."

"The Monitamons are searching for the best escape route," Nene replied.

He nodded and they watched the diversion going on.

Shoutmon smashed a few of the enemies away from him. The enemy Troopmons in his way flew in the air and crashed away from him.

Dracomon burned an Evil Digimon coming at him and dodged the blast of another one.

Troopmon who helped the heroes pointed his gun at them and fired at them. He aimed at their chest and a few explosions followed. He dodged the counter-attack and he was hit by an explosion. He rolled on the ground, "Damn. This is intense," he admitted.

Ballistamon jumped in the air and landed in a few of the enemies with everything he had. He dodged a few soldiers of the Death General and countered with his fist. He blocked a few shots with his arms and painfully grumbled as he was hit a few times.

His brother appeared on the side and threw a fireball at one evil Troopmon who attacked the robot beetle.

The explosions followed and the red dragon prepared to fight the next one. He noticed that many of them showed up in his way and gulped, "That's… much more than I thought," he saw fifty of them at least. He frowned and prepared to charge, "We faced worse against Dorbickmon," he spun his mic and smashed the next Digimon coming to him.

While the group was creating the distractions, Nene approached the pillar. She saw that the stronger Digimons like the Devimon's remained on the post and watched them from afar. She quietly approached the Digimons. She made sure they didn't notice her. She went as close as possible and raised her Xros Loader, "You know what to do."

"Of course, Nene. Load Out!" Darkknightmon jumped out of the Xros Loader and impaled the first demon Digimon. He gazed at the other one coming at him. He jumped on the side to avoid his claws and countered with his twin spear. He impaled one and followed with the other one.

He wasted no time and charged at the pillar. He smashed it once, but the pillar only cracked and leaked a little energy. It wasn't enough to break the barrier protecting the caste. He painfully grunted when a Devimon pierced his shoulder with its claws and pushed him on the side. The dark knight dodged another one. He made the one who hurt him regret his actions and quickly eliminated him. He went to the other one and suffered the same fate. Two others jumped at him and he had to retreat a little and prepared to strike the pillar when he found another opening.

Taiki searched for a plan to help the Digimons and weakened the enemy's position. He could see they weren't leaving a lot of opening and were a little more professional than the patrols they faced so far.

Troopmon jumped back and supported the others with his long-ranged weapon. He fired at any of them who came towards him. He saw one coming on the side and avoided his blade. He countered with his claws and a kick on the gut. He then fired at him and turned the Digimon into data. He panted. He didn't really miss the action that much.

The Digimons continued their battle and were slowly overwhelmed by the numbers. Sparrowmon suddenly appeared from above and shot them down. She caused a panic among the soldiers of the Death General and broke their line.

It wasn't only that, suddenly, Dorulumon jumped in the scene and attacked one of them. He tackled a few of them and cause more panic among the enemy line.

Taiki saw his chance to take action. raised his Xros Loader and fused Shoutmon and Ballistamon.

"Shoutmon X2!" the fused Digimon declared. They spun their arms and beat a few Troopmons distracted by the wolf Digimon who suddenly jumped in the field, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to help you. Cutemon didn't want to leave you on your own against the Bagramon Army," he replied.

"Where is she?" Shoutmon X2 asked before he was shot by a few enemies. He crossed his arms and countered with his own long rang attack.

"With the humans," the wolf Digimon answered before charging at others.

"That's good," he replied.

Meanwhile, Akari held Cutemon in her hands, "It's good that he came to help, but…" she gazed at the cute bunny Digimon, "Why did he leave you with us?"

"I'm not a fighter. I am a Digimon who can heal wounds," Cutemon replied with a smile.

"…That's good," Taiki commented. A healer was an important Digimon in battles. He returned to the battle and focused on it. He had to prepare a plan to evacuate if something would go wrong.

Nene came back to them, "I went away. Darkknightmon is really going all out against them. I didn't want to get hurt," she pointed towards the scene.

The humans checked and saw the dark knight who fought with his twin spears and beat a few of them without any problems. He was hit a few times and countered with his weapon.

They could see a few dents and scratches. The knight Digimon didn't back down and went towards the pillar. He smashed it one time before he moved away as the Digimons tried to stop him.

The cracks on the pillars were larger and it would break away very soon. It just needed another hit and it might be over for the pillar.

NeoVamdemon was on his throne as he read the reports of his patrols. He grunted as a few of his patrols still didn't come back, "Some fools think they can make a stand against me," he grunted before putting it on the side. Except for that, there was nothing. They didn't find the Digimon he was looking for. Time was starting to get short.

The Death General noticed that a Digimon quickly entered in his throne room. He spread his wings and stood up, "What is it?" he knew it was an emergency of Devimon entered quickly and without announcing himself.

"The south pillar is under attack!" he quickly added before his general asked something in annoyance, "It's the humans with their Digimons who defeated general Dorbickmon. They entered in there to destroy the pillar. We don't know if they showed their full capacity, so I came to alert you of their presence."

"It must be why I lost a few patrols. They silenced them before they could alert me," he turned towards his soldiers, "Call my soldiers. We will make sure to greet them well and personally," he chuckled at the thought of destroying them. He didn't know how those weaklings managed to defeat them, "This is going to be interesting," he flew outside of the castles and wait for his soldiers. Once his troops assembled, he took the lead and his army charged towards the pillar underground.

Darkknightmon got annoyed as he had trouble to find a chance to finish the pillar. He fought three demon Digimons with his twin spears. He put everything as he swung a group of Digimons and pushed them away. Another one jumped at him from the back.

He painfully grunted when the claws pierced his shoulder plates. He tried to force the demon away from him.

Dorulumon charged and jumped on the Digimon. He bit the face with everything he had. He then followed with his best attack and jumped back.

Darkknightmon took his chance. He swung his weapon and smashed it against the pillar with everything he had. That hit was enough to break the pillar. It broke in pieces and began to fall on the ground.

The group watched the pillar falling down and breaking into small pieces where it had been weakened by the impacts.

The dark knight felt that the energy was gone form the pillar. That was gone and they needed to get out of there.

Taiki nodded and called his Digimons, "We got the pillar. We have to get out of here!"

The Monitamons came back and waved at the humans when they approached them.

"They found a way out," Nene told what her partners told the girl.

They stood up and followed the Monitamons. They retreated and checked on the Digimons who slowly backed away as they fired back at the soldiers of the Death General.

Darkknightmon came and attacked the enemies with his weapon. He turned back, "Retreat! I'll follow you soon," he blocked the energy bullets from the Troopmons shotting at him. He countered with one swing and sent them away. He was about to retreat when he heard.

"Well… Well… I was wondering who attacked and destroyed my pillar. What do I see? Darkknightmon," NeoVamdemon appeared as he landed on the ground and closed his wings. He smirked at the knight, "I heard a little bit about you from Bagramon."

The Death General had gray skin, red eyes, long purple wings and yellow hair. He was a thin Digimon with his small gut and small arms. He wore a purple armor with large gauntlet ending with silver claws. He wore a purple mask with bat wings pointing backward.

The eyes of the dark knight turned into two yellow lines, "NeoVamdemon I presume. Whatever you heard from him isn't of importance."

"Not important?" he raised his claw and raised his head, "I know why you are fighting against Bagramon. Still not over that?"

The dark knight fury raised inside of his chest. He wanted to strike at the Digimon, but suddenly disappeared when he was load in.

NeoVamdemon sighed, "Looks like I wouldn't get the change to finish him. I'm certain Bagramon would be annoyed that he survived," he gazed at the broken pillar and chuckled, "And the enemies will come soon," he turned toward his soldiers, "Leave the area. We have to increase our defense before the enemies attack."

"Yes sir!" his soldiers replied before they turned around and left the cavern.

The vampire Digimon was excited and hoped his enemies would come soon.

The humans were on Sparrowmon back as she flew in the air, escaping the Digimons after them,

Troopmon, Dorulumon and Ballistamon were on the ground as they ran as quickly as they could.

"What did you do?" Darkknightmon grunted at Nene.

"I made sure we escape alive. We are not ready to handle NeoVamdemon," she replied seriously.

Taiki did wonder why the dark knight was angry. It was all according to their plan.

"What's going on?" Shoutmon asked as he held on the best he could.

"N-nothing," Darkknightmon replied as he held back his anger. He did not want to explain about it.

"I guess NeoVamdemon tried to get to you and almost succeeded," Akari suggested. She got no answer from the Digimon.

"Once we are safe, we will turn back we will hide and prepare the next plan. The Monitamons left and observed the castle. They can see it clearly without the barrier now."

They continued their escape and the evil Digimons couldn't catch up to them. Ballistamon and Troopmon managed to hide and escaped the enemies.
