Note:I'm back with a new chapter! It's been a while, since I took April off to work on Phic Phight. If any of you read my submissions, I hope you enjoyed them. Right now, I'm still on hiatus for Face to Face though because I'm working on my Invisobang story. I'm 18k in and maybe one third of the way through so...you guys can expect a novel from Invisobang but hey, I'm just doing what the story wants. *laughs nervously* Anyway, enjoy this chapter of Face to Face!

Fenton was getting antsy. Sitting at a table in the school library, he tapped his pencil on his paper and glanced at the clock again. There was only ten minutes left in his study period. Where was Phantom?

The human's stomach flopped nervously. Near the beginning of the period, he'd felt a spike of fear from his ghost. But it had quickly disappeared before Fenton should start panicking and try to investigate himself. Forty long minutes later and he's barely felt or heard a peep since. Nothing more than some dim embarrassment and gentle tugs at the tether connecting the two halves of his mind.

Now Fenton was beginning to get nervous again. What had happened to his other self? He really should have been back by now. Sighing, the human Danny tapped his pencil again. Maybe he should try to get up with Phantom and see where he was. Gently, Fenton pulled on the line. His brow furrowed; Phantom was close, very close. But he couldn't quite tell where.

Closing his eyes, the human focused. If he could see where his other self was… The corner of his mouth turned up. He could see a blurry image of where his ghost was- a monochrome version of a school hallway, in front of a locker and….a black-and-white nerd from the fifties? He tilted his head in confusion but the emotion passed in a moment as he caught the pale shade of Phantom's thoughts. He had found a way home, thanks to the other ghost who was apparently named Sidney. It was through a mirror that was actually a portal.

Phantom gently nudged back, having felt Fenton's interest and the human sighed in relief. Yes, he could tell everyone that his other half was okay, although-

"What is it?" Sam's question pulled Fenton out of his thoughts.

The boy opened his eyes and turned to look at the girl who was sitting on his right. "It's Phantom. I know where he is."

"You do?" Tucker asked from his other side.

"Yep." Fenton nodded. He smiled as more information pressed into his mind.

"What did you find out?" Sam asked.

"You know that old rusted locker near Mr. Lancer's room, the one no one uses because it's supposedly cursed? Well, apparently there's a portal to the Ghost Zone inside it."

Tucker's mouth fell open. "What? Really?!"

"Yeah. But it wouldn't open until 3 am."

Sam frowned. "Well that sucks."

"Yeah, it does." Fenton muttered, shaking his head. "But…" Grabbing his backpack, he suddenly stood up and turned towards the door.

His friends' eyes widened. "Where are you going?" Tucker asked.

"A portal can open from either side." He said plainly.

"What does that mean?" Sam asked.

"It means...I have an idea to get Phantom back here sooner." He turned towards the library door and started walking purposefully.

He glanced towards the circulation desk and sighed in relief. The librarian was in the back room, with her back facing away. At least, she wouldn't see him leaving early. But then again, she was pretty lenient and would let kids do what they want during study hall as long as they were relatively quiet and didn't make a mess. Hopefully no one else would get in a tizzy for him being in the hall during class. But this was more important than the chance of getting in trouble.

"Hey Danny, wait." Tucker called from behind him.

"We're coming with you." Sam insisted.

"Come on then." Fenton waved. They didn't have a lot of time.

Keeping eyes out for teachers, the trio speed walked down the halls. Barely two minutes later, Fenton was standing in front of locker 724. Tentatively, he pulled on the handle. Without a lock attached, it easily swung open.

"Is that it?" Sam asked over his shoulder.

"I think so." Fenton answered.

"It's just a mirror though." Tucker frowned.

The human Danny also frowned. But he tugged on the line between him and Phantom. The ghost was close, so close. Close enough to reach out and touch but….

His blue eyes fixed on the mirror, meeting his human-looking reflection's gaze. There was nothing out of the ordinary. He reached out to touch the reflective surface but pulled his hand back in shock, at the glacial cold of the object. He blinked and the image wavered and shifted. Soon, it wasn't showing his own human face with the empty hallway behind him. It was the same hallway, though the image was in black-and-white, but in the center was a teenager wearing glasses and a bowtie. It was the other ghost he'd seen through Phantom's memories. The nerd's eyes fell on the mirror and his expression saddened as he pointed. His mouth opened in a silent question. Fenton tilted his head in confusion for a moment before another figure appeared in the mirror.

The white-haired boy's mouth opened, replying to the other ghost's question before his mouth fell open and his green eyes widened.

Fenton's own eyes widened. "Phantom." He muttered, at the same time exclaiming the word in his head.

Phantom instantly responded with his own excitement. That's not my reflection. He grinned, while mouthing the words. I'm here! I'm right here! I can see you. He placed both hands on his side of the mirror.

Fenton beamed. "You're okay!"

Yeah! I'm fine. I'm- Phantom's words cut off as the human placed his own hands on the mirror. The image wavered, briefly flashing green. It's open.

Fenton instantly knew it was true. He marveled as the ghost's finger poked out of the glass and curled around the back of his own hands. The human grinned and he pulled with his arms, taking a step back. Effortlessly, Phantom passed through the mirror in one smooth motion, leaving him floating in front of his human self. The pair let go of their clasped hands at the same time and in sync, wrapped their arms around their counterpart.

Fenton squeezed, muttering in excitement and relief. "You made it. You're okay. Oh my gosh, I am so happy to see you in person."

"Yeah. Yeah. Fenton, I'm fine. I'm good." The ghost rambled. "I made it." After a long moment, he pulled back, grinning. "I never thought I'd be so happy to see my own face."

That earned a playful punch from the human. "Back at ya, Phantom."

The ghost smirked. Then his eyes widened as he looked over Fenton's shoulder. "Sam! Tucker!" He darted past Fenton, wrapping an arm around each of his friends. "You guys are the best. Thanks for talking me down earlier."

"No sweat dude." Tucker replied.

"I'm just happy you're safe." Sam said.

This earned a blush from Phantom. "Yeah. I'm fine Sam. Not doing that again anytime soon." He pulled away, beaming as Fenton joined the group. "But… I learned so much! I've got to tell you guys about it. You're not gonna believe-"

"Jeepers!" An echoing voice exclaimed behind the group.

In sync, the group turned. Sam tensed, balling her fists. There in front of the locker was the nerdy ghost Fenton had seen through the mirror. Tucker's eyes widened and he muttered fearfully. "Ghost." This earned an elbow jab and a bewildered look from Phantom.

Across the hall, the other ghost put up his hands innocently. "I come in peace, fellow nerd."

"Nerd?" Tucker's brow wrinkled.

Phantom ignored his friend, addressing the other ghost. "Sidney." His eyes flicker to the mirror. "I thought you were worried about getting trapped."

The other ghost, Sidney, looked back at the locker. "The portal will open soon enough and I can get back to my lair. And if not…" He bit his lip. "There is your parents' portal. That is if you'd let me use it."

Sam and Tucker both blinked for a long second before both exploded with questions. "Who is this?" "He knows about your parents' portal?" "What's a lair?" "How did you come out of that locker?"

The noise was loud enough to make Fenton flinch. "Guys, maybe we should-"

A loud, adult man's voice cut off the teens' rambles. "That is it!" There was the quick sound of footsteps and a door being pushed open. "Go back to...class?"

For a long moment, Mr. Lancer stood in the doorway of his empty classroom. His brow wrinkled in confusion. "I could have sworn…." He muttered, shaking his head as he closed the door.

Fenton frowned. How exactly had the teacher not seen them? It was then he finally noticed the cold and tingly sensation covering his body, the source of the feeling coming from..his leg? The boy looked down, his eyes widening as he finally realized. He was invisible. He glanced to the side, eyes falling on his ghost's face. Phantom's brow was furrowed in concentration. He'd placed one hand on Tucker's shoulder and the other on Sam's. His legs were again in the winding form of a tail which he'd used to grab onto Fenton's leg.

"We need to get out of here." Phantom whispered, his teeth gritted with the effort.

"The basement's right below us." Fenton said quietly.

Beside the group another echoing voice agreed. "That's right. We're on the first floor."

The group's invisibility wavered as Phantom was distracted by Sidney's words. Then he pitched his eyes shut in concentration. "I'll drop us down there."

"Drop?" Sam started.

Before she could ask more, Phantom turned the group intangible. Tucker screamed as they passed through the floor and continued falling. For a brief moment, Fenton felt weightless as his ghost tried to use his flight to slow the fall. But his power gave out and the four ended up on the ground in a pile of limbs.

Sam cursed as she extracted herself from the pile. "What the hell Danny?!"

"Don't do that again, man." Tucker whined as he only somewhat playfully pushed Phantom's shoulder.

"Sorry." Both Dannys muttered, blushing.

Fenton then half-smiled innocently. "At least that kept Mr. Lancer from giving us detention."

Sam rolled her eyes. "Nevermind that. Where's that other ghost?"

"Yeah. Who was that?" Tucker asked, standing up.

"Sidney Pointdexter, at your service." The echoing voice sounded above them. Fenton looked up to find the monochrome ghost floating near the ceiling. Sidney shrugged sheepishly. "I didn't mean to cause ya trouble."

"It's okay dude." Phantom said authentically.

Sam continued to glare at him while Tucker looked vaguely worried. In response, Fenton nudged his other half. "Go ahead and tell them what happened."

"Right." The ghost boy nodded, biting his lip. "So...basically, I barraged into Sidney's lair trying to get back here. We talked some. I told him where I was trying to go and he let me use his portal."

Sam and Tucker's brow furrowed, processing what ghost Danny had said. At the same time, Sidney finally got a good look at Fenton. His eyes widened, as he quickly looked between the two Dannys. The human Danny blushed, averting his eyes at the attention.

"Okay?" Sam was saying. "Why exactly did you barrage into someone's lair?"

"What is a lair?" Tucker asked.

"I was lost." Phantom huffed, crossing his arms. "And a lair is pretty much a ghost's house, I think. That's what this guy told me anyway." He pointed. "Right, Sidney?" The other ghost didn't say anything. "Sidney?"

Fenton could feel Sidney's eyes on him, even as the atmosphere shifted. There was a chill in the air in front of him. The human would have thought it was his ghost half, except he could always recognize Phantom's presence.

"My condolences." Sidney's voice quietly, sadly said.

At that, Fenton looked up. He found the ghostly nerd floating in front of him. "What?"

"My condolences for your loss or…" He bit his lip. "Maybe I should say, for the living status change of your brother."

"My….brother?" The human Danny wrinkled his brow in confusion.

To his left, Phantom blushed.

"What's he talking about?" Sam muttered, side-eyeing ghost Danny.

"Your twin brother, Danny." Sidney explained, motioning to Phantom and looking increasingly confused.

Fenton shrugged bewilderedly. "But we're both…."

Tucker snorted. "Dude. He thinks you're twins."

Sam blinked, looking at Phantom. "You didn't tell him?"

The ghost boy blushed. "It uh...didn't come up?"

Fenton raised a brow at his other self, giving him a look that said 'seriously?'

Sidney's expression closed off. "What didn't you tell me?"

Phantom shifted nervously, looking down. Feeling the anxiety and shame, his human half's face softened in understanding. Fenton gently grabbed the ghost's hand, offering a reassuring squeeze as he answered for both of them. "We're not twins. We're the same person." Sidney blinked, tilting his head in confusion as Fenton continued. "Danny Fenton." He waved up and down his body. "Danny Phantom." He motioned to his ghost. "But we're both just Danny."

Phantom bit his lip. "We kinda have two bodies right now. But we're only one consciousness, one soul."

Sidney stared for a long moment, mouth open. Finally he whispered, sounding awed. "You're a halfa."

Now it was the Dannys' turn to gape. "What?" Both said in unison.

The other ghost's eyes widened. "Half a human. Half a ghost. A halfa. A living human body and the spirit and power of a ghost." He waved his arm empathically. "I thought halfas were just a legend!"

"Halfas?" The human Danny tried out the word.

Phantom turned to face him, squeezing his arm. "There's...there's a word for what we are."

Fenton nodded enthusiastically, intimately understanding the depth of that statement. Halfa. There was a word for his state, for his place somewhere between human and ghost, living and dead. There was a word for it, meaning…. He turned to Sidney, eyes widening hopefully. "You said...you said halfas, plural."

The other ghost opened his mouth, his expression falling. "I did but-"

Then a high pitched sound rang out, cutting off Sidney's words.

"That was the bell." Tucker explained.

Fenton turned to face his friends who had been quietly watching the exchange. Sam opened her mouth to speak and the human Danny's expression fell, anticipating what she would say. "We need to head to our next class, Danny."

"But-" Fenton argued.

Phantom nudged him. "I'll stay here and we'll continue this conversation. I can fill you in later."

The human Danny sighed, glancing between his other half and the other ghost. He bit his lip. "Alright. Sam, Tucker, and I will head to class then."

Meanwhile, Tucker was looking around the room. "How do we get out of here? Oh Wait… there's the door." He walked over and pulled on the handle. "It's locked."

Phantom turned, frowning. "How about I just fly you guys out of here?"

Sam raised a brow at that. "After how you just dropped us through the ceiling?"

"Sorry. I was kinda focusing on keeping all of us invisible." The ghost boy rolled his eyes. "It won't be a problem if I take you guys one at a time."

"Alright." Sam conceded. "I'll go first."

With that, Phantom loosely put an arm around Sam. Turning invisible, he floated both of them off the ground and through the ceiling. For a long moment, Tucker and Danny were left alone with Sidney. The ghost shifted nervously in the air, while the humans glanced at each other. Seconds later, Phantom returned and gently grabbed Tucker. The pair disappeared and Sidney and Fenton were alone.

The human Danny nervously shifted foot to foot. He looked at Sidney. "Thank you for helping Phantom. Hopefully we...uh...you and this me…." He motioned to himself. "will get to talk again at some point."

The other ghost nodded, looking slightly confused. "No problem..uhh...Danny?"

Fenton offered a half-smile. "That is my name." He bit his lip. "I know. This is so weird. Other me will explain more. And...again, thanks in advance for answering our questions. You are a cool dude, Sidney."

The other ghost blinked in surprise. "Well...that sounds familiar."

"I bet." Fenton replied cheekily, as the memory of Phantom saying nearly the same thing softly entered his mind.

The response made a small smile edge onto the ghost's face. Phantom then phased through the ceiling, his brow raised at the friendly interaction. He quickly flew to beside Fenton and wrapped an arm around him. "Let's go."

Again, the increasingly familiar feeling of weightlessness and invisibility flowed through him. The pair rose through the ceiling and seconds later, appeared in a supply closest. "Sorry." Phantom muttered. "You don't have a lot of time. But Mr. Faluca's class should be two doors down."

"Alright." Fenton hitched up his bookbag higher. His stomach suddenly flopped with nerves. "We'll...we'll talk about everything once school is over." He sighed. "Just two more hours."

Phantom swallowed. "Yeah." Then he gently patted his human on the shoulder. "Now get going."

The boy didn't have to be told twice. With a wave, he slowly opened the door. After checking that no one was looking, he darted out of the closet and ran into the classroom, slipping into his seat just in time.

Phantom sighed, shoulders relaxing as his other self ran out of the supply closet. He should be able to make it to class on time. As the bell rang, he turned his attention away from Fenton. Instead, his mind started swirling with thoughts. He looked down at the floor, turning invisible. He needed to get back to Sidney and...oh boy, he had so many questions.

The ghost boy phased through the floor, finding Sidney where he'd left him. The other ghost looked up at his entrance.

"So…" Sideny bit his lip. "You're a halfa."

"Yeah." Phantom answered, raising a brow. He lowered himself to stand on the floor.

"What you told me, about your parents' portal….You said it killed you but….you walked out, as you are now….And that's why you're a halfa now." The ghostly nerd suggested tentatively.

"Yes." Ghost Danny nodded. He looked down sadly. "It...it hurt a lot. I managed to stumble out and I was glowing and kept trying to phase through the floor. I..uhh..passed out at some point and woke up in the hospital."

"As a human?" Sidney asked.

"That's right." Phantom agreed.

"And you and Fenton...how are you…" He trailed off, clearly struggling with how to word the question.

"In two places at once."

The nerd nodded. "I thought it was duplication at first. But human you doesn't have any of your powers, does he? And…" He ran a hand through his hair. "That is such a difficult and highly energy consuming power, it's impossible you could display it as such a young ghost."

Phantom blinked. "Ghosts can duplicate?"

Sidney shook his head. "Well...I cannot. It's a rare power. You have to be incredibly powerful to do it but yes, some ghosts can duplicate their forms."

"But...how?" Ghost Danny held out his arms. "Like...do you mean a really powerful ghost could make a temporary copy of themself to….just like running errands or...if they got in a fight? And they do this on purpose?" He rubbed his head. "What does that even feel like?"

Phantom then blinked, realizing how strange that question sounded. He sadly knew what it felt like to be stuck in two bodies at once. How different was the state he was stuck in now compared to this duplication?

"I don't know." Sidney shrugged. "As I said, I can't duplicate and I don't know anyone who can."

"Oh." Ghost Danny frowned. That would have been useful information to have. He then sighed. "I guess I should tell you how come there's two of me?"

The nerd raised a brow, motioning for him to continue.

"Well basically….this happened because of one of Mom and Dad's inventions." Phantom bit his lip while Sidney's eyes widened in concern. "So after the accident...I didn't really know what had happened to me. I thought I was sick or something and my powers were weird symptoms. So I told my parents and wanted them to…" He almost choked on the word. "Cure me."

There was a long pause as Phantom let the words sink in. Sidney's expression morphed from clear worry into slowly dawning horror as the ghost boy continued. "They made something called the ghost catcher that was supposed to get rid of my symptoms. But instead, it...it pulled me apart." He backtracked, holding his hands up as he noticed Sidney's expression. "It was an accident. No one knew this would happen and I...I asked them to do it. I went through the ghost catcher willingly."

"So...you did this to yourself." Sidney whispered.

"Yes." Phantom looked down in shame.

"You tried to destroy yourself." The other ghost's voice rang out with distress, almost horror. But somehow, there was no judgement or condemnation.

Ghost Danny bit his lip, his core pulsing nervously. "I'm not...I didn't….I don't know...know if that's accurate." He looked down in shame, more denials on his tongue. On some level, he wanted to argue, to hide like he always did. He didn't want to look vulnerable again but the truth came out anyway.

"But I did hurt myself. Badly…" He closed his eyes, the gap in his soul again stinging. "Being like this hurts so much sometimes but...I'm getting better. Things are so much better between Fenton and me then they were when this started."

And that was true. He'd had this revelation, this conversation with Fenton before. About how his human half had hurt his ghost half, how he'd hurt himself. About the guilt he'd, they'd been feeling over that. And maybe saying he'd tried to destroy the person he'd been was actually accurate. Ironically, he had. The Danny who was terrified of his powers didn't exist anymore; in the Ghost Zone, the person they'd almost fused to become, that person who was almost the whole Danny, wasn't the Danny who went through the ghost catcher. Fenton and Phantom had become and was still becoming a different person from who they were after the ghost catcher.

"We're not quite there yet." Phantom said looking down at his hands. "But we're getting there. We still have stuff to figure out." Like the stuff with Mom, he thought, frowning at the reminder. "Like with what being a halfa actually means." He finally looked up, a smile slowly growing. "I'm so happy that there's a word for this. For what I am. And...there might be more people like me?" Again, his eyes shone with hope.

Sidney's lip turned down at the last part. "I don't know, Danny."

Ghost Danny's expression fell. "Oh."

"I've only heard about halfas in legends, old stories in books I got from the Ghost Writer's library."

"What do those legends say?"

"The stories say, halfas are made when a human is caught in the opening of a portal to the Infinite Realms. That matches with what you said. This obviously does not happen often so halfas are rare. But they're powerful, incredibly powerful. One of the ghosts who imprisoned the old Ghost King, Pariah Dark was supposedly a halfa. What else….?" The nerd tapped his chin in thought.

His eyes lit up, remembering. "There's a story about a pair of twins who were both transformed into halfas by a temporary portal. After their change, one brother fell through the portal, into the Infinite Realms, while the other stayed in the material world." Phantom's brow furrowed, taking in the story. "The opening closed, just as the young man was reaching to save his brother. Both were devastated to be separated and distressed by the supernatural change that had overtaken them. But they were determined. Both brothers journeyed, searching over the entire realms to find away back to their sibling. And after-"

Phantom interrupted, blinking disbelievingly. "Did you just make that up on the spot?"

Sidney's eyebrows scrunched in confusion before he let out a short chuckle as he realized.

Ghost Danny half-smiled. "I'm not a pair of twins, you know?" He held up his hands, his voice teasing. "Even if people keep thinking I'm my own brother!"

The other ghost shook his head, finishing the story. "After many trials and tribulations, both found a portal, the same portal as if the hand of fate had led them there and they were joyfully reunited." He smiled. "You know, there is a parallel."

Phantom pointed. "I'm still not my own brother."

"Of course not." Sidney sighed. "But that's one of my favorite stories. Now, after meeting you, I'm wondering if it isn't just a story."

"Maybe." The other ghost shrugged. "What is it they say? That there might be a bit of truth in every myth. So...any other notable stories?"

Sidney shook his head. "Most of what I've read was vague or any halfas were only mentioned in passing. I don't know if that's because I wasn't reading the right books or there's just not a lot known."

The ghost boy hummed in consideration. "Alright. And this library? How does that work? What or...err...who's the Ghost Writer?"

"The Ghost Writer is the one who runs the library. It's his lair but he's opened it to anyone peaceably looking for knowledge. He had every book that's ever been written in the Infinite and the Material Realms."

"Oh wow." Phantom's eyes widened. "My sister, Jazz, would love that."

"It is incredible. Some much knowledge. So many stories." Sidney's eyes sparkled before he looked down. "I don't leave my lair often but the Library is one of the few places I do go when I leave. So I've read a lot, literally thousands of books in the last seventy years. But I've barely made a dent in the collection."

Ghost Danny smiled. "And you think this library, it might have more information about halfas?" The other ghost nodded. "Could you take me there?"

Sidney blinked, his expression looking slightly shocked.

Phantom clarified, furrowing his brow in thought. "After I re-fuse though. And.." He bit his lip. "I should probably talk to Mom and Dad about this. But if they say yes…"

"I could take you. " Sidney finally said. "Actually… I would be happy to. I can introduce you to Ghost Writer. He can be a bit prickly so be sure to respect his books. But he'd have a much better chance of pointing you in the right direction than me."

The other ghost paused, suddenly feeling overwhelmed. This was so much information. And the fact that he was actually considering asking his parents to let him go to this mystical library in the Ghost Zone with the ghost in front of him, was unbelievable. Yesterday, this would have been impossible, unthinkable. But this was his halflife and...it was actually kinda exciting. The idea of learning about halfas, meeting other ghosts, and seeing more of the Ghost Zone. And with other books...he could learn other things about the Infinite Realms (that is what Sidney called it, right?), or space, or anything else he wanted.

"That sounds awesome. Thank you." Phantom said gratefully.

Sidney nodded. "You're welcome. And one other thing-"

Ghost Danny held up his hand, interrupting the other ghost. "Hold on."

He felt a tug on the back of his mind. Phantom?

The ghost gently nudged back in acknowledgement.

Dad's here to pick me up. You need to come too. He's probably worried out of his mind.

Phantom swallowed, guilt sinking like stone in his gut. Alright. I'll meet you in the car.

Fenton gave a hum of acknowledgement before retreating. The ghost boy looked up. "That was Fenton. I need to go." He started floating off the floor.

"Wait. There's one other thing." Sidney held up a hand and Phantom paused.

"Yeah?"

The other ghost wrung his hands. "There is...a rumor about another halfa."

Ghost Danny's brow rose at the words. "There is?"

"He showed up about ten years ago, looking for artifacts of power and lackeys." Sidney's eyes boarded into Phantom's excited ones. "He's called Plasmius. They say he has a vampiric appearance. Fangs, corpse blue skin, a cape. And that he's terrifyingly powerful, someone you do not want to cross."

The younger ghost's expression fell on this, looking down. "What that's…." He trailed off.

"Not what you want to hear, I know. But listen to me." Sidney pleaded. "I don't think this is someone you want to seek out."

Phantom shivered. "Maybe not."

The other ghost's expression softened. "Don't worry about it too much. You don't need him for answers. You've still got your friends and family. And I'll help you. There's plenty of other friendly ghosts in the Infinite Realms too."

That made Ghost Danny half-smile. "Thanks Sidney."

He smiled, waving the other ghost off. "No sweat, pal. You do need to get going though."

"Right." Phantom started floating towards the ceiling. "What about you? Don't you need to get back to your lair?"

"I do." Sidney blinked, as if suddenly remembering. "I'll have to wait until the portal opens again."

"Or we could see if it's still open?" Ghost Danny suggested.

The nerd raised a brow, skeptically but he started flying towards the ceiling anyway. "Let's go then."

Both ghosts flickered invisible right before they passed through the ceiling. Seconds later, they were both floating in front of the still open locker. Phantom glanced to the side, eyes widening as Sidney put his hand on the mirror. "I can see you?" He whispered.

The other ghost looked at him, raising a brow as he spoke quietly. "Of course. I'm only using enough power to keep humans from seeing me, not enough to make myself invisible to you."

"You are? But how does that work? I mean…" Phantom shook his head, eyes flickering back to the mirror. "Nevermind. Can you get through?"

Sidney frowned. "No. It's closed."

Ghost Danny also frowned, reaching his own hand to the mirror. His head then jerked back as a wave of green passed over the image. His eyes widened in surprise. "What was that?"

"It's open." The ghostly nerd whispered in awed surprise. "You opened it, again."

"Again?" Phantom's brow furrowed. "Again...I thought that was because Fenton was on the other side." It made a type of sense, that the portal would open to reunite one split soul, stretched across two dimensions. "But it's just me now."

"You're still a halfa, a being of both worlds." Sidney mused. "Maybe...in a way, you're a bridge between the two….just like this portal."

The younger ghost tilted his head, for what felt like the hundredth time that day shocked by something the other ghost said. "What? Really? You think so?"

The nerd shrugged. "Well...very strong ghosts can open portals at will but I doubt you're strong enough to do that yet."

Yet? Phantom shook his head, not wanting to think about the implications of all this. Instead, he motioned with his free hand. "You should go on. I'll come see you once I'm back to normal. We can talk more and maybe go to the library….." He rubbed the back of his neck. "If that's all okay with you, of course."

"Yes. It is. Of course." Sidney smiled subtly. "Hopefully, I will see you soon then."

"Yeah." Ghost Danny confirmed.

The other ghost nodded. Tentatively, he pressed his hand into the portal. His arm passed through all the way to his elbow. Then he paused.

Phantom rose a brow. "What is it?"

"Are we...are we friends now?" The ghostly nerd asked shyly, his voice rising with hope.

The younger ghost blinked. "Yes? I think so?" His brow furrowed, wondering. He had just met the other ghost. But Sidney had helped him. He had learned so much from the ghostly nerd. There had been that unfortunate introduction with his shadows but he'd apologized. Phantom might even say they hit it off after that. Now, the idea of hanging out with him again actually was appealing. And well...if this was a human, he'd say yes with little hesitation. So why hesitate? Ghost Danny set his shoulders, feeling more certain. "Yeah. We are friends."

Sidney's eyes shone. "It's been a long time since I've had a friend." He smiled. "Then, I look forward to seeing you again, Danny."

"Right back at ya." Ghost Danny replied, smiling as well. "Bye Sidney."

"Goodbye." With that, the other ghost passed through the mirror. His image linger for a second as he waved at Phantom. Then the image disappeared.

The ghost boy sighed, turning away. Now, he needed to get back to Fenton. Mentally, he reached out. He'd taken longer to get Sidney back to his lair than he meant to. But it was necessary. Hopefully, Dad was still out front. With that thought, he received a reply. An image, the view from the back seat of the GAV flashed through his perception. They were still sitting in the parking lot.

Wait for me. I'm coming. Phantom said as he started flying towards the front parking lot.
