Sanji opened his eye slowly, trying to get accustomed to the light in the room. He became confused on where he is. What was the last thing that happened? Where was he again?
Oh, right he's at the hospital, waiting for Zoro to wake up. Which he did last night. Sanj's eyes snap open, full of energy and wide awake the chef sits up to see Zoro laying down on the bed in front of him, eyes close. He started to freak out quietly, was that all a dream, even though it seemed so real.
Sanji felt like he was going to cry but he stopped when he saw Zoro open his eye and look at the clock then look down at his hands. He opened and closed them before looking at Sanji. He seemed as shocked as the chef. "You're awake." He says. The chef just nods, he couldn't find his voice. He thought he was going to cry, thought that Zoro wasn't awake yet.
"How long was I asleep?" he finally found his voice. Zoro looks at the clock.
"About nine or ten hours." That was the whole night!
"Are you ok?" Sanji sits back down, he puts his hand into the bag of lollipops, or at least where the bag should be at. He look down to see the bag not there. He looked around his chair and around the room to see his bag had gone missing.
"If you're looking for your bag of candy, Chopper took it away. He said you were guarding it like a dragon would treasure... or Nami with money." Zoro says watching Sanji search the room frantically.
Sanji stops and sits back. "You seem better." He says.
"I feel better than the last time you visited me." Zoro says with a small grin on his face. Sanji didn't say anything but let out a hum instead. "Sabo, Ace and Smoker helped me again." He answers Sanji's un-asked question. "I do feel better than last time though. Oh, right what happened with Tim. The last thing I remember is seeing him in my room. I asked Chopper but he said I should ask you."
"He was beat and Sabo arrested him, so there's nothing to fear."
"Thanks. So is it ok to not be with Luane?"
"I got permission from Nami to stay here with you until you wake up."
"I'm fine." Zoro says. Sanji did not believe that, Mr. "I'm fine" almost got kidnapped again, was comatose again for a week.
"I know, I came here to tell you some things."
"Some things?" Zoro whispers looking at Sanji very intensely.
"I should say sorry first. The way I rejected you, I should have done it more gently, no, I shouldn't have done it in the first place." A blush finds its way to the chef's cheeks, and the officer's eyes widen. "I like you. Always have actually. I was just denying it the whole time. After your confession I couldn't get it out of my head so I moved far away to study. But during the three month I didn't see you, I was staying away to think about my feelings for you and after thinking about it I learned that the reason I did all that was because I liked you but just couldn't face my feelings. I was the ladies man, I couldn't accept that I liked you so I hid. And I'm sorry for that. Things wouldn't have ended like this if I didn't care about what other people said." Sanji explains, frustrated with himself. With his head in his hands he continues, "I can't believe it took almost six years for me to figure it out. I should have known when I couldn't be in a relationship. How picky I was being with the ladies, trying to choose the perfect one to date but never finding what I was looking for." Zoro looks at him confused. Couldn't be in relationship?
"What are you talking about? What about Luane?" He asks, she must have been born during a relationship right? Or was she a one night stand?
"Luane's not my daughter."
"But... she look just like you, you have the same last name?"
"Yeah, because she's my niece."
"Wha-niece?"
"You know about my family."
"Yeah, and how they're all crazy." Zoro says. Sanji laugh a little only because it's true.
"Well, not all of them are crazy. My older sister is relatively normal for how she was raised with them but she got pregnant with Luane. It was supposed to be love but once he met our family he ditched my sister, the asshole, but she still loved him so she gave birth to Luane. But Judge wasn't very happy with that. She didn't know what do to until I showed up in the same country to start studying, running away from my own problem. Luane was barely five month old when she showed up at my doorstep. She told me what happened and I accepted. I took care of Luane while I studied, she would come and visit me until a little after Luane turned two, she stopped visiting. I haven't seen her since but I know she must be busy. Plus I was using Luane as an excuse for not dating, I only just realized that she was my excuse, I knew deep down that I wanted you but my mind just couldn't coupe with it." Sanji looks away, not making eye contact with Zoro. He has been very quiet through the whole thing and he didn't want to see his reaction just yet. He didn't want to be rejected, after all this time.
"Who knows?" Zoro asks looking at Sanji hunched over in the chair. No way Sanji kept this to himself.
"Nami and Robin. Along with Franky. No one else besides those three." He could hear Zoro laying down. That was a lot of information to process. And it was all a little unbelievable.
"Why now?" Zoro asks. It's been six years, he couldn't think about his feelings then? He had to wait till after they met again?
"It just never popped into my mind, with Luane, I was so focused on her and my training or job." Sanji still hasn't looked his way.
