Chapter 32: The Birthday Party

Maddie's POV

I woke up like Cinderella, with the birds chirping outside my window and the sun shining brightly. And as someone who is not a morning person, you might ask: why.

Because it was your Queen's goddamn birthday.

I stepped down the bed and slipped my feet into the slippers and opened my door, and upon opening it, I found a pleasant surprise.

Yui with all the Sakamaki brothers standing before my door with a banner saying 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADDIE!', and a party popper in Subaru's hand.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Yui exclaimed in excitement, and the brothers lazily followed, "Happy birthday… human…"

And Subaru couldn't figure out how to burst the party popper, so he struggled with, muttering curses.

"Oh, is it your eighteenth birthday, Madison?" we heard the ketchup lord's smug voice behind the Sakamakis, and my mood turned sour.

He was a pain in the ass, and he had only just wished me birthday.

"Thanks… Heinz tomato ketchup," I made a sarcastic face at him, and that's when Subaru accidentally burst the party popper.

Timing, bruh.

"Didn't you already say that you were eighteen, Madison?" Reiji questioned, unimpressed.

"I did?"

"Yes."

"I probably have dementia, since, you know, I['m growing old," I sheepishly rubbed the nape of my neck.

Then everyone quieted down. It was the most awkward situation I had ever been in.

Sensing the tension in the air, Yui tried, "Uh, uh… what do you wanna do on your birthday today?"

"I wanna have a party!"

O~O~O

"You're inviting the Mukamis too?" Yui was shook, sitting on my bed while I applied some eye-liner on her.

"Yeah?"

"I can't wait for the drama!" her mood changed drastically, and sometimes, I feel extremely proud that I changed Yui into what she is now. Dayum dayum, boy, she now knows how to have fun.

Currently, we were both dressing up for the evening party that I had gotten approved by Karlheinz, and having Yui dressed in a short-lengthed pink dress with dramatic eye makeup was working out so well.

"When will you dress up, though?" she questioned, and I dreamily spoke, "When the man of my dreams comes on a flying unicorn to grab my hand and take me to Neverland!"

"I don't think Subaru would ride a flying unicorn," Yui laughed.

"Then I'll ride him," I winked at her, and her eyes widened.

"Dayum, honey, say that to his face in front of Karlheinz! It would be so iconic!"

"Oh, god, yes! I love you for this!" I exclaimed, and a minute later, we were both just jumping up and down on the floor.

Minutes later, I was dressed up in my black mid-length dress with black hoops on my ears, and fucking lipstick on my lips. I never really wore lipstick, unless it was time for me to spy on other mafias by going into their parties and seducing them… and then decapitating them.

Dark, ooh la la.

"Ma'am, I'm gay for you," Yui praised me, and I uncharacteristically twirled around in my dress.

"Let's go!"

Walking down the stairs of the mansion, I looked at the main hall decorated with pomp and splendor. There were white balloons and ribbons around the walls, and dude, they really did go out of their way to make this special for me.

"Guys! I'm in love with each and every one of you for decorating the hall like this! Please marry me and let's enter a poly-" I couldn't finish when the ketchup lord started laughing like a maniac.

Bro, my joke wasn't even that funny-

"Good one! Good one! As expected from a girl who's turning eighteen today!" he clapped his hands.

"Anyways," i loudly said, and then spotted the Mukamis standing awkwardly on the side.

"You guys! You came!" I zealously said, running towards them and almost hugging them, but Yuma smashed my face in his hand and spoke, "Yeah, yeah, happy birthday and whatever."

"Aww, look at the simp!" I cooed.

"I'M NOT A SIMP!"

Yui then whispered to me, "Remember what we talked about up in the room?"

I whispered back, "That you were gay for me?"

"Nah, not that! the Subaru thingy!"

"Oh."

I sensually danced my way through to Subaru, and with the shampoo model in the background, I made heart-eyes at him and dreamily spoke, "It's okay if you can't ride a flying unicorn, Subaru! I'll ride you instead!"

"Wha-" his face turned the reddest I'd ever seen it go, and I honestly felt bad for him. Everyone started laughing (even Shuu chuckled), and that lightened the atmosphere.

"Uh…" Ruki walked up to me with his three brothers, "Here's a gift for you."

"You guys got me a gift?" my eyes almost watered.

Azusa smiled, handing me the wrapped box, "Happy birthday…"

I unwrapped it and found a snow globe, with a plastic couple moving inside it.

"That's so cute! Ugh, I could just hug you right now!" I made puppy eyes, and right as I said that, Subaru pulled me back and growled at me.

"Calm down, doggo."

"I'm nOT-"

"It's time for ze cake!" Yui announced, walking in with a chocolate cake on a tray. She placed it on the large table, and before blowing the candles, I looked outside the window. It was a chilly night, and the moon was full. It was a beautiful sight out there.

And just as I blew the candles, an uneasy feeling arose inside me. I halted my actions upon sensing that, and not even a second later, I started running away from the gathering.

"Maddie!" I heard someone shout, but in my state of constant rush, I couldn't make out whom.

I sprinted to the nearest washroom and puked into the commode… and it was blood.

This chapter exceeded 1000+ words, damn. I hope you liked it! I personally feel it was a little rushed, though. I'm writing more of tragedy these days so I can't tell if this was funny or not.
