EPILOGUE
It has been three days since we put the necklace back in the shrine, killing all the zombies and making things normal again. We have been making sure that they are dead, making sure that there are not any surprises. A while ago, we saw a report from Weazel News on the TV we put in Crabblesnitch's office that the military are removing one of the roadblocks and are now driving into Bullworth. They are going to be rescuing survivors; us.
"I can't believe it. We're going to be saved", Pete says cheerfully. "I know, right? Finally, we can go back to civilization", Zoe says. "I'm not so sure if that's a good thing", I told them. "After all that happened, after what we did, can we really go back to civilization and be normal again? Can we really be ourselves again?" I then ask them. "I know I won't", Clayton says. "After killing Ted and those two Savages on the rooftop, I don't see how I'll ever be the same again". I put my hand on his shoulder and then told him, "I know for sure I'll never get over the stuff I've done either". After I took my hand off his shoulder, Andrew came running into the office.
"Hey, you guys might want to come onto the rooftop", Andrew tells us. "Why? What's happening?" I asked him. "There's helicopters flying around in the air. Annihilators, I think", he tells us. The five of us then ran out the office and raced to the stairs leading to the roof. We quickly climbed up the stairs and made it to the roof where Russell, Johnny and Edgar were holding up cardboard signs. "I thought you two were busy grieving over your dead friends", I said to Russell and Edgar. "It's been days. We have a job to do", Edgar tells me. "Russell will never forget Ethan", Russell says to me. "Can we get back to getting the helicopter's attention before they leave the area?" Johnny says. Russell, Edgar, and Johnny then held their signs back in the air, trying to attract the attention of the helicopters nearby.
The three of them then shook their signs high in the air. They kept shaking them until the helicopter flew straight over the building. "You think they saw us?" Pete asks. "They better have", Clayton says to him. After a few minutes, we could the sound of trucks pulling up towards the school. I ran up to the edge and looked straight towards the road and saw a convoy of military vehicles by the school gates. "We're saved", I told them. "We're finally saved". I took a deep breath, knowing that things will be good from then on. We are saved.
