A.N. Hey all! I hope you're all well and safe. I'm back with another chapter of Jagged Edges. I thank you for reading and replying. This chapter is shorter than most chapters I've written, but I'm trying to get back into this story.

Chapter 31: Through the fire
Damon
He had always known that in the end he would be willing to do anything for the person he loved. Proving his love was probably the only way he knew how to love. It was how he loved Elena. Or rather how he thought he loved Elena. All the while he had been after her, he had been trying to prove that he was the much better option than Stefan. He'd do reckless things and than prove to her that beneath all his recklessness he had a heart, or he would at least show her what she wanted to see in his heart.
Bonnie had been much different. He hadn't had to jump through hoops for her to love him. All he had to do was love her the way she loved him. He may have not be able to do it before but now he was more than ready to do that. She was his, they were bonded together, practically married in a magic sense and she meant the world to him. It didn't matter how long he got to love her, just knowing that she trusted him yet again, and that she loved him– it would be worth it.
Turning to Michael and Gloria he said that much. "I don't care if I have to be the one to drag Dean back to hell– as long as Bonnie is safe, that's all that matters to me."
Gloria nods her head proudly. "I always knew you had it in you Damon. Let's just hope that it doesn't come to that."
He shrugs. "For her, I'll do anything."
"Good, because you may have to. Bonnie is the last of her line, and someone has been offing supernaturals all around the world. We also have the Dean issue and," Michael stops and looks over at a map. For the first time he notices something he hadn't seen earlier. Taking a further gander her walks over to examine it closely.
"What is it?" He asks suddenly. He skin was starting to get clammy with each minute more he was away from Bonnie. If she were in his presence then he felt like everything would be ok. What was worst was that he had to trust Katherine to do something other than screw someone over.
Mentally he frowned at his choice of words.
After Michael had gone through what it would take to finally free Bonnie of Dean, of all her worries and nightmares, he expected that to be the end of it. However, the warlock had other plans for him.
"I want you to see this." Michael says suddenly taking him over to a map that was located behind a glass.
"What's all this?" He asks looking from Michael to Gloria.
"It's map of all the latest strange supernatural activities." Michael continues. "For the last couple of months people have gone missing." He admits. "Every time death occurs a red dot appears across the map." He continues. "This is what we have as of yesterday." He says pointing at the map. "You said that you ended Dean, yet the map has no knowledge of his death."
His fangs descend. "What does that even mean?"
Michael looks up. "I don't know."

Bonnie
"More like, he knew he'd be resurrected."
The words ring into my ears as my brain tries to process the reality that could be very much true. Dean was calculated, everything he did was planned, why not secure that he be brought back? At the realization of it all, the air between Katherine and I begins to chill making the room much colder than it had started out. If what she had assumed was true then we had even bigger problems on his hands.
"The one thing we can say- is that he wasn't able to truly connect to the four families. He's still missing the blood of both Winchester and Bennett bloodlines." I say suddenly finding my voice. That means he's got whatever magic was left from our last meet up." I admit.
Katherine moves across the room, gathering things from here and their. "That's true, but if fear is what gives him his power, whose to say that anyone from the Winchester family, has yet to connect with him, or at least encounter him."
I mull over her words. The only way I could see in stopping Dean would be to connect with the last family. "I need to connect with the last living Winchester." I say turning to Katherine. I lick my lips. "The two us, we may be able stop whatever Dean Wells is planning."
Arms crossed the vampire observes the witch. "And how do you plan on doing that?"
I look up a small smile flitting my lips. "A summoning spell. If that doesn't work then I'll do a locator spell." I muse out loud. "I have to find her, she may be the only person who can really end this thing with Dean."

Stefan
It wasn't too often when he was left at a loss of words or choices. Normally, Bonnie was able to find a way if anything had stood in between of he or anyone else she loved and what they wanted or needed. This time he wanted to be the one to do that for her. He wanted to be able to protect her the way, Bonnie would try and protect them. Now though, the knowledge of what could happen, if he protected her the way she needed, was nearly terrifying.
He wanted his brother as far away from his best friend as possible. With Damon his track record spoke volumes and those volumes only told him what Bonnie was afraid to think about in this state, and that was that eventually Damon would head back in the direction of Elena and once again Bonnie would be crushed.
Morgans words come back loud and clear warning him the consequences of what his actions could cost, not only to the person he was trying to protect but his brother as well.
"Breaking the bond, it'll drive them both insane until they are nothing left but a shell of a person." She says turning around to walk back into the apartment. "As for her magic, if her connection with her familiar is lost or disconnected– her magic will dwindle down till it's humming beneath the surface." Pause. "It's obvious you care for your friend- and you want to protect her, but breaking that bond could cost you both your brother and your best-friend."
Silently he continues to brood as Morgan has long disappeared in the house. From what Morgan had shared with him, breaking the bond between Bonnie and Damon was something that would only cost him both of them in the end. He may have still not forgiven his brother for everything that had happen– but Damon was his brother and despite his current feelings he couldn't let him lose his mind. The same could be said for Bonnie, though he hated the predicament the witch and vampire had found themselves in- he'd never knowingly hurt Bonnie.
With one last sigh he enters the living room again, only to see Morgan munching on her chips.
"You seem less broody now, I guess staring out into the night will do that for ya." She muses.
Despite her words he cracks a grin. "Maybe I just realized I'm alone with a pretty girl who finds me insanely attractive."
She snorts and he only grins wider. "I never said you were insanely attractive."
"But you were thinking it?" He says coming sit down in front of her.
She sticks her tongue out. "I think I like you better when you brood." He chuckles but says nothing.
Morgan than reaches across and touches his arm. "Your friend, will be okay, you just have to have faith."
He bites his lip. "Did you have a premonition or something?" He questions.
She pulls away. "No. I'm a smart girl."
He nods again. "Well I think I owe it to you- to tell you what else is going on, in case you have a run in."
This causes her to furrow her eyebrows.
"Bonnie had a run in with a ghost and not to long ago, Damon had a run in a well." He says even as the words sound unreal to his ears. In the life they lived not many talked about ghost and now that was all they had been talking about. The ghost of Dean attacking Bonnie was a top priority. His father resurfacing was a close second. Giuseppe confronting Damon was bad, and he couldn't imagine what he would do if the circumstances had been different.
"Ghost?" Morgan echos.
"Yeah ghost." He repeats watching as her face changes at his words.
Immediately the witch gets up in search of her book. "You've got to be shitting me? Ghost are not permitted to go back and forth unless the balance is shifting."
She says sifting through pages quickly and then stopping on a page the illustrates what could happen if ghost come through.
He takes the book and examines it. The outcome looks bloodier than even he is comfortable with. "Could that be because a vampire is a witches familiar?"
She shakes her head her eyes looking haunted. "It's bigger than that Stefan!" She nearly spat.
Swallowing hard she spoke her voice beginning to shake. "My father use to say as long as the balance was in place we would all be okay- but if it shifted too much then everything around us would change." She says suddenly standing and placing the book back. "He also use to say not all magic was good magic, especially if it was in the wrong hands." She mutters more to herself.
From his perceptive she looks scared, terrified almost. "Why does talking about this frighten you so much?"
She turns around quickly. "I'm not afraid of magic." She says with narrowed eyes his way. "I just sat here and told you all you need to know, so no magic doesn't scare me."
He looks around again and notices the spell books that are on a shelf, the look nearly pristine. "You don't practice magic though."
She licks her teeth. "No. not really."
He can't help but go to her and soon is standing in her face. "Hey," He says lifting her chin. "We're kindred remember."
She swallows hard. "I'm afraid he'll find me, like he found my parents and rip my magic from me." The words tumbled on each word getting softer and softer.
Now it's his turn to look puzzled. "Do you think this person, was a ghost?"
She shakes her head. "I don't know Stefan." She says honestly. "All I know is that one day an old friend of my parents came to town, he was someone they grew up with." She bites her lip as tears threaten to spill from her eyes. "He came to town and it scared them so much within an hour they were making plans for me to leave town." She pauses and looks out toward the window. "He came back quicker than they expected so they hid me. I could only see the back of him and hear him but he couldn't find me."
Morgans flashback
"We thought you'd come back later, much later." Dad says his voice strong and demanding.
"Why prolong the inevitable." the voice says. "Is this your daughter if I am remembering correctly her name is Morgan, Morgan Winchester and she just so happen to be the same age as my daughter." He says almost fondly.
"You leave her alone."
He chuckles. "I didn't come here for anyone but the two of you." Smile. "You know I like my magic strong and much older."
"Now, you can either fight me or at least try or you can do the noble thing."
End flashback
"I watched him rip out their magic by splitting them in half." She was crying now. "I ran because If he took my parents magic, the magic of a witch and the power of a wolf, that meant I was next." She walks away now, her arms circling herself. "That man had enough power to end the Winchester line and take all of its magic with him, but he didn't get me." She says suddenly. "I'm the last of the Winchester line and if he wants to eradicate it, or anything, he has enough power to do so."
He wraps her in his arms letting her cry. Judging by what Morgan had said, it seemed like they had more than just one problem on their hands. It almost seemed like the brink of something far scarier than they had ever dealt with.

Grayson
After a rather interesting conversation with his father, Grayson soon wanders downstairs in need of a different kind of drink. Talking to his father had always put in a mood. The old man had managed to make him feel sentimental even though he was doing what was best for his family. Weston didn't see it that way- he was old school. That way of life had never worked for him so why would it work for his situation with Alexandria and Bonnie? His love and his daughter were under the spells of vampires, he had to be the one to break it all.
Soon he'd have enough power to break any spell his heart desired. He didn't care if the balance was shifted, he didn't care about anyone else but his wife and daughter, everyone else was expendable. He tipped the scales in his direction to do what was right for he and his family.
Once he rounded the last step he stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing the one person he hated the most in his chair. "How dare you bring you ancient ass into my home?" He roars at seeing the polished original.
Elijah smiles as he stands up. "I think it's far time we talk about you handing over Alexandria."
Grayson can only glare at the vampire. "I will die before I let you have her." He snarls.
Elijah only places his hands into his pockets. "That can be arranged."
Suddenly Grayson is knocked to the ground as fangs sink into him.
"Now," Elijah says kneeling down. "Tell me where she is- or my brother who has a venomous bite will show you real pain."
Grayson spits in his face. "Screw you Elijah you'll never have her or my daughter."
Niklaus soon comes into view his eyes yellow as he sinks a painful bite into Grayson.
