Naofumi now stood before a rather normal looking building
"So this is it huh?" he asked the air then looked at the tiny Filolial in his arms
"I gotta warn you though last time I entered a shop that someone told me about the shop owner was crazy so on the lookout for any crazy shop owners okay?" He told it
"Kya!"
"Good now let's go," he said walking towards the door then opening it
"Wel… Welcome to my shop how may I help you young one?" an older lady's voice came forth from the counter at the front of the shop
Naofumi started walking to the counter but while he walked he answered the old lady
"I heard you run a magic shop I was wondering if I can get more spells or at least how much they cost"
As he grew closer he could more clearly see that the old lady was staring at the shield on his arm before doing a small nod in now understanding
"I see so the king giving you an interest in magic, well you came to the right place" the old lady out a small smile
"So how do I get more spells?"
"It's rather simple I see what your affinity is and then you can buy a grimoire or crystal ball of that affinity"
"So I can only learn magic of my affinity?"
"Yes exactly"
"The ball gave me First Gaurd what affinity is that?" Naofumi asked fearing what the magic lady would say
"Support though you might have more affinity it is unlikely but you are a hero so you never know"
'Hero yeah right this body makes me more the damsel in distress than a hero' Naofumi thought darkly to himself
"So how much do I have to pay so I can if I have any other affinities and how much is a grimoire ?" he asked looking up at the old lady
"Well since you are a hero I'll see what your affinity is for free though I can't sell you a crystal ball as I have none in stock but I do have grimoires that you can buy which run you around 35 silver per grimoire"
Naofumi looked at his coin bag he definitely didn't have enough to splurge on buying a grimoire though….
"Hey, I find someplace to sell monster parts right?"
"Yes though may I ask why you want to know?"
"It's nothing I was just wondering something"
'If one of my affinities is offensive I can possibly recoup the cost'
"Well there is no harm in not checking so go ahead" Naofumi stated having a plan now in mind if had offensive magic
"Okay come close to the crystal ball and I'll see" and with that Naofumi got even closer to the counter and when he did the old lady put her hand around it and started to concentrate on it
"Oh! That is surprising well I guess because you're a hero? Or maybe it is your body? Well no matter what you are incredible you have 4 affinities Healing, Support, Light, and finally Dark"
Naofumi's ears perked up when he heard "Dark" but they soon flattened
'Great the 'Shield Beast' has Dark magic affinity is my life just a cosmic joke?'
"It's surprising that you don't have a single outright offensive magic affinity," The old lady thought out loud
"So dark isn't offensive?" Naofumi asked confused
"Nope none of those are outright offensive"
Naofumi didn't know if he should be saddened or happy about that no wait he knew what he felt
'Once again is the universe is making my life a joke huh? At least I thought that I might get offensive magic yeah might get more insults thrown at me but what does it matter? But now it once again removed a brief glimmer of hope. Is this my life? Always get screwed over I bet- no I know that the other heroes haven't been screwed over this hard so why m-' his thought were interrupted
"Pia!" the bird that was perched on his this body's arms flew to his this body's thin shoulder and started to rub its tiny head against his this body's cheek and when she did that Naofumi realized he was lightly shaking
"It's alright" He said before reaching up and started to pat the bird before turning towards the magic lady
"Thank you for the information" and turned and left the shop
"You can stop that Y'know," he said while walking towards the field
"Kya!"
"Yeah, Yeah it's alright I am fine you don't need to worry about me actually I should be worried about you as we are going to try to level up"
"Kya?"
"I need you to listen carefully I am going to hold a balloon and I need to try to pop it any way you can okay?" he said hoping that the bird knew what he was saying
"Pia!"
"Good, Good," he said taking its squawk as it understanding
And soon they found themself in the giant felid outside of the town Naofumi was greatly increasing his love of this area it was one of the few places where he didn't hear people talk about him behind his back it was greatly calming it felt really nice he kind of wanted to stay out here but he knew couldn't this pitful, worthless, weak body would not be able to survive out here and then then you have the bird it definitely wouldn't it was a sad thing but Naofumi would push past it
"Okay time to grind!" he yelled trying to psych himself
