Nate, age 17

Scott grinned down at the face of his girlfriend. Though he supposed the term 'girlfriend' didn't quite fit her anymore, as they had been together for over fifteen years. Emma had a look of complete enjoyment on her face. It boosted Scott's ego to know that even after this long, he could pleasure-.

"Cyke?" He suddenly heard over the com unit in their room- a necessity since Emma became the headmistress of the school and Scott the full leader of the X-Men.

"You've got to be kidding me," he groaned. He slid out of Emma and reached over to return the call. "What, Angel?"

"Sorry, man. I know it's yours and Emma's breaks-"

"Spit it out."

"You're needed in the entertainment room."

"Tell Bobby to handle it. That's his domain, isn't it?"

"Scott. You've got to get in there now."

"What's so important-?"

"Your kids." Scott felt his heart rate increase as he hurried to get dressed.

"You'll let me know immediately?" Emma asked as she began dressing to return to her office.

"Yeah." Scott didn't bother tucking in his shirt as he rushed out of the suite. He ran down the stairs to the first level, bursting into the entertainment room. Nate and Carrie were-

"Daddy! It's not what it looks like, I swear!" Carrie said as soon as she sensed him. But the evidence was too overwhelming. Gambit had several bottles of alcohol out and both of his children had cups in their hands.

"You gave my seventeen year olds alcohol?!" He boomed at his teammate.

"Cyke-" But Scott had no interest in hearing excuses from any of them. He yanked the cups from the hands of his children and sat them down before sitting on the closest couch. He reached out and grabbed Carrie's arm and jerked her over his lap. Her pants came down, though he left her underwear up. The spanking was hard and fast. Enough to let his displeasure known, but not enough to stop him from doing it again in private.

"Up. Nathan!" Nate paled as he switched with his sister. Scott yanked his pants down, to keep it fair for the moment, and began swatting his son's behind as well. After a few moments, he stopped and yanked Nate's pants back up and forced him to a standing position before glaring at Gambit.

"Cyke-"

"How dare you?" Scott seethed.

"We made him!" Carrie said, trying to protect her pseudo-uncle. At Nate's wide eyes, Scott had a hard time believing his daughter.

"You want to lie to me again, Carolyn Ann?"

"Daddy…"

"Upstairs. Both of you. Now." The twins hurried away and Scott glared at Remy. "The fact that you had the audacity to give my underage children alcohol-"

"Scotty, I don'... You drank-"

"And you all damn well know what my reasoning for that was," he said with a glower. "I'm sure as hell letting Logan know about this- and Rogue. And if I ever see you alone with my children again, I will rip your throat out with my bare hands." Scott turned and stalked out of the entertainment room and walked up to the third floor to his family's suite. He opened the door and closed it behind him, a bit harder than necessary.

"Scott?" Scott tried to clear his face of the scowl, but failed.

"They were drinking with Gambit," he told Emma. "I… I spanked them, and I'm not done." Emma frowned.

"Are you sure they were drinking?"

"Positive."

"I thought we've taught them the dangers of alcohol?"

"I thought so, too." Scott sat at the small table in the suite and rested his head in his hands. "I don't know what to do here, Em. If I punish them too harshly, am I being hypocritical? You know…" Scott sighed.

"I don't think it's hypocritical if you're using your past as why they shouldn't do something… You of all people understand the dangers, Scott." Scott ran a hand through his hair and nodded before standing.

"Would you please… I know you're busy, Em, but I can't…"

"I'll stay with you while you get the full story, but I'd rather not witness…"

"No. No, I understand." He kissed her cheek and took a deep breath. "Nathan Christopher Charles and Carolyn Ann. Get out here, right now!" The two opened their doors and entered the main room. Nate sat on the couch and looked at the floor, while Carrie stood and glared at Scott defiantly.

"Every person our age experiments-"

"Don't give me that shit, Carolyn. You know how our family has a history of addiction- you want to get addicted to this crap and destroy your life?!"

"It's not that big a deal!"

"Your mother gave her life-"

"For Nathan. Not me. She left me." Scott blinked for a moment.

"She would have done it for you, Carrie. And I have done everything in my power to keep my promise to her and keep the two of you safe and-"

"Just forget it. Nothing I ever say or do-"

"You want to cut this teenage angst, Carolyn? Because I don't have a single problem spanking you without hearing the whole story because big deal or not, experimentation or not, you broke the law. It's hard enough being a mutant without that hanging over our heads, too."

"Maybe I don't want to talk about it."

"Carrie," Emma said patiently.

"Oh, shut up-" Scott walked to his daughter and swatted her several times.

"I've heard enough," he growled. "Get back to your room." Carrie glared at him as she went back into her room.

"Dad," Nate started.

"Don't, Nathan. You can go to your room, too."

"I didn't… I wasn't drinking, Dad. I swear."

"I can't believe you, son. I saw the cup in your hand."

"And I won't deny that I was holding it, but I promise…" Nate blinked and wiped his face. "Nathan's warned me several times about drinking and the tech. I'm not… I don't…"

"But you had a cup."

"Carrie shoved it into my hand. You can smell my breath, Dad. I wasn't drinking. I promise." The realization set in for Scott.

"Oh God. Nate, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have-"

"No, it's…" Nate sniffed. "It didn't really hurt. Was more embarrassing than painful."

"You told Warren to get your father, didn't you?" Emma asked. Nate nodded.

"I didn't want to drink. Carrie… There was a lot of pressure, but I didn't…" Nate sighed and looked down. "I remember." Scott frowned.

"You remember what?"

"You drinking after Mom…" Scott paled and sat beside Nate.

"You've never mentioned it."

"You didn't seem like you wanted me to." Emma walked up and kissed Scott's cheek.

"I need to get back to my office," she said quietly. Scott nodded and watched her leave.

"I'm sorry, Nate. I shouldn't have just started spanking you downstairs without the whole story." Nate shrugged.

"Like I said. It didn't hurt. But Remy, Dad?"

"Why was he giving you two alcohol in the first place?"

"Carrie begged to try it. Said you'd never know since you and Mama would be…" Nate swallowed. "Um. Busy."

"Did he give in immediately?"

"No. She wore him down. But I swear, Dad. I had nothing… I just was trying to watch out for her, you know? And once I saw her actually take a sip, I begged Uncle Warren to get you."

"Ok. You should…" Scott sighed and rubbed his face. "You should step out for a few minutes. You know how your sister gets."

"Please don't tell her I told on her."

"I won't, Nate. You're a good brother. You always have been." Scott squeezed the back of Nate's neck and stood. "Maddie would have been proud of you, you know." Nate shrugged.

"Not like she's around to tell me herself."

"She'd be here if she could. But you were worth the sacrifice, son. She'd be proud to know it wasn't wasted."

"Even with all the trouble I get into?"

"Can't blame anything but your genetics for that," Scott grinned. "Call your grandpa some time and ask if you don't believe me. And if you still don't believe him, Grandpa Phil would be happy to confirm it, too. Summers men are just…" Scott shook his head.

"Would it be ok if I called him from your office?"

"Yeah, that's fine. Tell him I said hi, would you?"

"Sure Dad. Good luck." Scott snorted and went into Carrie's room as Nate hurried out of the suite and down the hall to Scott's office. He went inside and sat at his father's desk before directing the computer to dial Corsair's ship.

"Hello, Cable," Ch'od grinned on the wide screen in front of Nate.

"Hi, Ch'od. Is Grandpa around?"

"Of course. Corsair!"

"What's going- Nate! How are you, son?" Nate grinned as Chris sat down, ready to talk with him.

"I'm alright, I guess. Dad says hi."

"Where is he?"

"Um. Carrie's in a bit of trouble," Nate blushed.

"Ah. And you're not?"

"Surprising, isn't it?" he grinned.

"Well, you are your father's son, kiddo. I can't even begin to tell you how often that boy was over my knee."

"He said Mom would be proud of me, but I just… I get in trouble a lot, Grandpa. Would she be proud? Or would she be thinking she wasted her life on me?"

"I can guarantee she'd be proud, Nathan. She knew…" Chris sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I wish I'd recorded how often she was bragging about the two of you and what you could do- even as babies. She knew you'd grow up to be amazing and she told me every chance she had about it. You did, Nate. Both of you are incredible young adults and I'm damn proud to be your grandpa. I know if I feel that, your mother would be feeling it even more." Nate gave him a sad smile.

"Even if I said Dad caught us with alcohol in our hands?"

"A momentary lapse in judgement doesn't change my love for either of you, or my pride."

"Really?"

"Your dad went through a rough patch, too, you know. And despite how disappointed I was that that was how he chose to… Not once did I stop loving him, Nate. And I know he feels the same way about the two of you. But if I can ask…?"

"Why aren't I in tears?"

"Exactly."

"I had the cup in my hand, but I'd called for Uncle Warren to get Dad. I didn't want to drink, but I couldn't… Carrie's very persuasive when she wants to be." Chris smirked.

"Takes after your mom that way."

"Which one?" Nate smirked back.

"Both of them," Chris chuckled.

"Thanks, Grandpa. I feel… It's one thing for Dad to say, you know?"

"Trust me, kiddo, I get it." Chris looked around and smiled back at Nate. "We've got a shipment to deliver, and then I've got some free time. You feel like hosting your grandparents for a week or so?"

"That'd be awesome!"

"Alright. I'll be there in two days, Nate. Tell your dad and Emma to take off and get out of your hair for a bit."

"Not sure how that'll work, but I'll do my best," Nate told him. "I'm happy you're stopping by. We've missed you."

"I've missed you all, too." Nate looked around the screen at the door opening.

"Hey, Dad," Scott said as he walked into his office.

"Hey, son. You doing ok?"

"Nate tell you?"

"Bits. Enough to know you were probably having a hard time."

"I'll be ok. If she wasn't so damn stubborn-"

"That's you, kid. Trust me." Nathan saw the rise and drop of Scott's forehead and knew he'd rolled his eyes.

"Grandpa said he could be here in two days, and that you and Mama should take a vacation." Scott frowned.

"Dad, you know we're a school now. It's not that easy. I've got classes to teach on top of X-Men stuff-"

"Then move to the X-Factor suites for the week. Let me have some time with just my grandkids, Scotty."

"Dad,"

"Uninterrupted time with Emma?" Scott sighed.

"Fine. Two days, you said?" Chris chuckled.

"Two days, son. Think you can manage that long without me?"

"Ass."

"Your father who still has leather on his belt."

"I still have kids," Scott smirked, gesturing to Nate. Chris laughed.

"So you do. Fine, Scott. Should get Nathan to take me back in time to when you didn't have kids to tan you for that."

"That wasn't part of the deal!" Nate just smirked at the two of them and their normal banter.

"I'll see you in a couple days, son. But I've got to go. I had just gotten off duty and was about to eat with Hep."

"Sorry, Grandpa."

"Don't be sorry for wanting to talk with me," Chris said with a small smile. "I'll happily sit with you for as long as you need, kid."

"We'll see you soon," Scott nodded. "Tell Mom I said hi?"

"Will do, Scotty. Behave." Scott rolled his eyes and ended the connection.

"Feel a bit better?" he asked Nate softly.

"Yeah. Thanks, Dad."

"Alright. Now you two have homework. Get working on it."

"Yes sir." Nate stood up and pushed Scott's chair back under his desk. Scott pulled him into a hug and sighed.

"More than worth it," he whispered.
