Hello friends! I am really sorry for being out of touch for so long. But, my exams are on and probably I will not be writing anything this month, except answers of course. This was half written before my exams started, so I have completed it and now posting it. If you have any suggestions for the series, please drop down a review to let me know. For now, let's begin.
POKEMON: LET'S GO
Episode 34: Exhibition Experiences
"Today, our heroes are at an exhibition showcasing the history of the Pokemon League. They can't wait to see the exhibits. It already smells like a new adventure is about to unfold"
The group looks at the poster advertising the exhibition dedicated to the history of the Pokemon League. As it is near Vermilion City, the group decides to pay a visit.
Soon, they reach the exhibition point and check in to find a gallery of all the Champions the League has seen since it began about a century ago. They find various kind of Pokeballs that have been made in the past and suddenly they spot the Chairman of the Pokemon Fan Club. The Chairman also recognises them as the kids who saved the day during S. S. Anne hijack. He tells the kids that the gallery is called Hall Of Fame that keeps a record of all the Champions.
He tells the group that Kanto League is the oldest Pokemon League in the world that began 300 years ago as a method of entertainment for the royal people. Strongest trainers from all over the region were called to showcase their skills in a stadium before the ruler and his family. Then, about 100 years ago, a generous ruler named King Herbert reintroduced it as a tournament where every trainer was allowed to compete against each other for the title of the Champion. Over the 100 years, it saw many changes in format. The concept of Gym Leaders and Badges being a criteria for qualification popped up some 40 years ago when the competition became too popular.
He shows them a portrait of King Herbert's son, who was the first ever champion of Pokemon League. Curiously, Elaine asks him about King Herbert's son and his lineage. The Chaiman says that King Herbert's son went on to travel around the world after his victory to learn more about Pokemon. King Herbert was the last monarch of Kanto and nobody knows what happened to his lineage.
An enthusiastic young man approaches the Chairman and bombard questions upon him after overhearing the story. He notes down some important points from the answers. As the group asks him, he introduces himself as Mason, a freelance journalist, covering the news about the exhibition. He clicks multiple pictures with his camera and asks the Chairman about the highlights of the exhibition.
Upon learning that Mason is a reporter, the Chairman offers him and the group a visit to a special exhibit. They follow the Chairman through a hallway guarded by many guards to the door of a room. Officer Jenny, the chief of security, escort them. The Chairman shows them the most valuable exhibit – the first ever Kanto League Champion's Trophy that was won by King Herbert's son. Everyone is fascinated. Mason clicks some pictures and asks the permission to touch it, but Officer Jenny stops him. He notes down the that the security is tight.
Later, in the main hall, Mason asks Officer Jenny if there is any risk of the trophy being stolen. She replies that there may be an attempt but they are all aware and ready and nobody can dare to even think about stealing it. She tells them that the trophy's stand is guarded by a laser grid. If the grid is crossed, an alarm rings. If the trophy is lifted up from the stand, an alarm rings. And the best of the guards are guarding the room, making it impossible for any thief to steal it.
Team Rocket, disguised as visitors, overhear the conversation and learn about the trophy. They plan to steal it. Meowth suggests gifting it to their BOSS upon stealing it. But, Jessie insists on selling the trophy and keep the money for themselves. James suggests putting aside all clashes and stealing the trophy first.
The group and Mason decide to have a look at the other exhibits. Later, they have a lunch in cafeteria of the museum and discuss about the various exhibits they saw. Elaine asks Mason how he became a reporter, to which he says that he always wanted to be a reporter. He leaves the group their and goes to washroom.
Elsewhere, Team Rocket plan to steal the trophy. They decide to go to the power room, turn off the power – that will render the alarms useless – then go to the trophy room, make the guards fall asleep using Poliwag's Hypnosis, steal the trophy and escape before anyone comes to know.
Back at the cafeteria, Mason takes a little long to return, so the group decides to find him. They find him near the corridor leading to the trophy room. He tells the group that he got confused while searching the way back.
Elsewhere, Team Rocket sneaks into the power room and proceed to turn off the power. Much to their surprise, the power is already off. Officer Jenny enters, finds Team Rocket and assumes them to be the culprit.
Back at the corridor, many policemen run towards the power room. The group chases them and Elaine asks Mason to come with them. They reach the power room to find Team Rocket, tied and defending themselves, claiming not to have done anything. The group and Officer Jenny refuse to believe this. She tells the group that she came as quickly as possible when the power got cut and found Team Rocket inside. She congratulates her crew for having stopped a crime from happening.
Suddenly, the Chairman comes and leads the group and Officer Jenny to the trophy room where they find the guards sleeping and the trophy gone. Mason theorises that probably Team Rocket has stolen the trophy and managed to hide it somewhere, but got caught when they returned to turn the power on. But, Riley decides to use his excellent detective instincts to solve the mystery. He points out that a thief tends to escape once he gets what it wants instead of hiding it. He then asks the Chairman if all the gates have been closed, to which he gets affirmation.
Riley has a close look at the crime scene and points that all the guards fell asleep before the theft, hence a Pokemon knowing sleep inducing move must be involved in the crime. Chase remembers that James has Poliwag who knows Hypnosis, hence strengthening suspicion against Team Rocket. Riley further notes that the case of the trophy is as it is, so the thief must have opened the case, took the trophy and kept the case back. He finds it to be done by multiple thieves, again strengthening suspicion on Team Rocket.
Elaine points out that Mason was near the corridor, hence, he could have heard or seen something. The Chairman also asks him to remember anything suspicious. Mason thinks and tells that when he was in the washroom, he heard the voice of Meowth outside, and then the power went off. Officer Jenny says that all of this point out that Team Rocket are the culprit.
Suddenly, Pikachu remembers something and indicates Chase to follow him. The group, Officer Jenny, Mason and the Chairman follow him to the cafeteria where he points towards Mason's camera. Chase interprets it and tells everyone that CCTV can help, but Pikachu shocks him with Thunderbolt to prove his guess wrong.
Riley then realises that Pikachu wants to say that Mason's camera is not with him, still his carry bag seems to be full. He correlates the facts that Mason went washroom but took too long to return. The washroom is close to the power room and he was later found near the corridor leading to the trophy room. He asked Officer Jenny before and knew about all the security checks and his bag is full in spite of his camera not being in it. He finally claims that Mason is the culprit.
Upon being exposed, he calls out his Drowzee to use Hypnosis. But, Officer Jenny has her Growlithe use Roar to send it back in its Pokeball. Mason is quickly caught by the guards and the trophy is found in his bag. Riley asks him to explain his motive behind the crime 'like every criminal does after being caught'. Mason tells them that the trophy signified his ancestry. He reveals that his full name is Mason Herbert, and he is a descendant of King Herbert. He then tells everyone how he used Drowzee to successfully steal the trophy and that if the group didn't had come to search him, he would have gone away with it.
At the end of the day, Officer Jenny tells the group that Mason has been put behind the bars and praises Riley's detective skills, stating that he could become a good professional detective. The Chairman also thanks the group for saving the day for the second time. He gifts Chase, Elaine and Riley with a Great Ball each and tells them that it has a higher catching rate than the usual Pokeball. They happily accept it.
The group bids farewell to them and continue their journey. Elaine feels that they are forgetting something, but ignores it. At the end of the episode, Team Rocket are still kept tied and locked in the power room as everyone has forgot about them.
