Once Nami had arrived home, she was bummed that she and Luffy ended the day like that. Kicking her shoes to the side, she saw an extra set of shoes next to Nojiko's, she heard some giggles coming from the living room and was surprised to see Koala and Nojiko sitting on the couch with some shopping bags on the coffee table.
"Koala?" Nami questions. Hearing Nami's voice the two girls look over at the confused teen.
"Oh, hey Nami, just getting home?" Koala asks.
"Yeah, I was doing some shopping with Luffy."
"Where is he? He normally stays a while before leaving?" Nojiko asks.
"We kind of got into a small argument...it's not biggy, I'll talk to him later. What are you two giggling about?" Nami walks over to join them on the couch.
"Oh, well Koala came over and was super bummed that she had no one to hang with since Sabo left. So…" Nojiko smirks at Koala, Nami furrowed her brow in confusion, "we went shopping...for sex toys!"
"S-s-sex toys?!"
"I mean, if Luffy stayed in Africa wouldn't you want to find a way to please yourself?" Nojiko asks her sister.
Nami's face turns red, she didn't feel horny as a virgin, but now that Luffy took her v card earlier this year, her mind has sometimes gone to inappropriate places. "W-what did you get?"
"We got v-vibrators." Koala says shyly.
"Nojiko, you too?" Nami asks in surprise.
"And you." Nojiko tosses Nami a package which lands in her lap.
"I don't need it, I have a boyfriend." Nami gives Nojiko back the package.
"I already have one, you keep it. Who knows…"
Nami's face turns a deeper red, Koala and Nojiko laugh lightly at the younger teen expression. "Well, the sky still has some light in it. Should we order pizza?" Koala suggests.
Nojiko agrees with Koala and puts away her toy. Nami stared at the package in her lap, still in shock that she was given...such a thing. "Nami, you up for pizza?" Koala asks, snapping Nami out of her daze.
"Huh? Oh, no, actually I ate earlier. I'm gonna take a bath." Nami gets up from the couch, looking down at the two girls. She makes way towards her bedroom door before hearing Nojiko's voice.
"Good thing it's waterproof!"
Nami rolls her eyes and closes the door behind her, hearing the two girls laugh some more. Opening the package and examining the pink toy, Nami scoffs and puts it in a drawer inside of her bathroom before stripping herself naked to take a shower. She thought to herself under the hot water "how much weight can I lose if I don't eat for ten days?" She didn't know the answer to the question, but she wanted to try. Once she was done with her shower, she stares at her reflection in the mirror, "Does he notice if I gained weight or not?" she asked herself.
Pinching the body fat on her stomach she sighs, "If I did, he would've said something right?" she ponders around in her bath towel. Looking back into the mirror she looks at her thighs, "they have more meat to them...is that why he likes laying on my lap?" Nami talks to herself in her bathroom for a while until she got tired of walking around in her towel. She leaves the bathroom practically dried already and decides to get dressed into something comfortable.
Nami told Nojiko and Koala she'd talk with Luffy, but she really needed to hear from her best friend, Vivi. Once she got comfortable in bed, she dialled Vivi's number. After the fourth ring Vivi picks up.
"Nami, hi, what's up?" Vivi asks over the phone.
"Hey, nothing much, I just got home from the donut shop."
"Did Luffy get the job?"
"He did."
"Sweet! No pun intended." Vivi giggles. "Oh, I came up with an idea to help boost your votes for your campaign."
"What is it?" Nami flips her pillow to the cooler side.
"I'll throw a party at my place. My dad will be out of town on a business trip so before the final voting I'll host a party in your honor."
Nami smiled at the heartwarming thought she would do for her. She really felt like she was going to win. She had a team standing with her.
"Thank you...thank you so much Vivi. This means a lot to me."
"What are besties for?" Vivi asks her, which made Nami smile even bigger.
Sunday went by and it was now Monday morning, a brand new school day. Luffy celebrated with his grandfather yesterday with a nice outing, just the two of them. They went to dinner, went window shopping downtown and visited his brother's Ace grave. Sometimes Luffy and Garp visit the cemetery to sit at the tombstone of one of their family members who passed away a few several months ago. It still stung them that he was gone so soon, but they remembered that he will always be with them, watching over them.
At lunch, Luffy, Zoro and Usopp were casually hanging around the fieldhouse like they normally do, but there's one person that's missing from this little group and it was Nami.
"So you two haven't talked since Saturday?" Usopp asks, taking a fry in his mouth.
"No. My grandpa advised me to give her space and let her come to me." Luffy answers him and takes a fry from his bowl.
"Well, relationships are tricky, I can speak from experience." Usopp states. "I remember when Kaya and I first fought. I thought that'd be it for us, but eventually we came back to our senses and realized we're not perfect, nor will we have a perfect relationship."
Zoro leaned against the rough brick wall with his eyes closed, he was listening to every word Usopp said, reflecting it onto his own love life...with Tashigi.
"I haven't seen her anywhere at school today. I don't know if she's avoiding me or just didn't come." Luffy finishes Usopp fries.
"Hey, I paid for those! I should get the last fry!" Usopp berates, Luffy chuckles.
"She probably is avoiding you, I saw her in our homeroom this morning." Zoro informs the two.
As the three boys sat there another figure appeared, it was the familiar face they all knew. Especially Zoro.
"Hey Hiyori, how's your second week going for ya?" Usopp asks her.
She smiles at him, "It's okay. I made a few acquaintances in my classes, I was hoping-"
Someone's phone dings, cutting her off, Luffy looks at the message he got and gets up from the shade. "I'll catch you guys later." Luffy says, picking up his school bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"Oi Luffy, where are you going?" Usopp asks after him. Luffy doesn't answer him, instead he just makes his way past the field and bleachers and back inside the cafeteria.
Once inside, Luffy walks in through the cafeteria exit and out through the entrance. He was looking for the stairwell to head upstairs to the rooftop to meet up with Nami, after he got her text. With success, it didn't take long for him to climb the stairs up to the roof. Opening the door, he spots her with her back turned and orange waves flowing in the soft wind. She turns her head at the noise coming from behind her to see her longtime boyfriend.
"I got your text." Luffy closes the door behind him. "Why up here?" He questions her.
She turns around completely, "I'm sorry." she tells him.
"Huh?" Luffy cocks an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry for how I've been acting up, I don't want to fight with you." She comes closer to him and embraces him in a hug.
Luffy was shocked to know that his Grandpa's advice really worked. He wasn't expecting her to come to him this quick. Without saying anything, he returns her embrace and places his hands at the small of her back, resting his chin atop her head. "Are you ready to tell me what's been bothering you?" he asks, breaking the embrace and holding her hands instead.
"Well, the campaign has been taking a toll on me recently, stressing me out a lot and I guess I've been taking out my anger on the people I care about…"
"...Have you eaten lunch?" Luffy asks her seriously.
"I had some earlier before I came up."
Luffy scoffs, "You know...I've encountered a lot of liars in my life...Nami and you're not a really good one." he lets go of her hands and takes a step back to sit next to the door. "Neither of us is leaving until you tell me the truth, you're supposed to trust me as a boyfriend and as a friend. Honestly, I'm hurt that you can't seem to tell me the truth, that's why I was so upset with you on Saturday."
Nami frowns at him, she turns around unable to look him in the eyes. She walks towards the railing gripping on the metal. Luffy watches her waiting for her to speak. He sat in silence and she stood in silence. Neither of them said anything.
After two minutes of contemplating Nami spoke, "you...y-you would tell me if I'm gaining weight...right? Did I feel heavier once I came back from America?" She asks without looking at him. She knew he wouldn't leave until she told him the truth. It's hard to block out what people say about you, especially when they say it without thinking of how it can impact the person they're addressing.
Luffy gets up and walks over to her, "Nami, I don't care if you're gaining weight, I don't care about the small pimples on your face that you stress over. You're perfect in my eyes, who cares what other people think?" He turns her around and embraces her in a hug. Nami's eyes welled up with tears, she held him tightly sobbing quietly.
"R-rebecca was m-making sly r-remarks about my w-weight on the f-first day of track practice." She cries, huffing like a child that has gotten reprimanded. "T-then people w-were commenting m-mean things under my k-kumagram posts."
Luffy brushes her hair with his hand, furious that Rebecca had been behind Nami's self consciousness. Whatever her problem was with Nami, he was gonna fix it!
