IS 34

It seemed almost like a bad dream when Wyatt heard the news. The same guy who he's seen countless times rise from the brink of death ,killed so suddenly after their latest victory.

As Wyatt watched Ichika's lifeless body, the American thought "Why did you have to die on me man. We still haven't had our rematch.There was still football camp to look forward to.So why did you die when I could've helped."

While the American was crying Dr Maxwell enters the room and ask "How are you holding up Danforth?"

As Wyatt looked at his teacher with tear filled eyes he responds "Ichika was a person who brought out the best in me.If it wasn't for him , I don't think I would've stayed here for as long as I've had."

Dr Maxwell says "Well then what do you plan to do? Will you take revenge against the organization that killed your friend?"

Wyatt says "Doc, I'm not even sure. As much as I hate Phantom Task , it's like my will to fight has vanished."

Dr Maxwell pats Wyatt on the shoulder and says "Get some rest kid. You've been here long enough."

As Wyatt made his way out of the infirmary, he made towards his room and grabbed his wallet.

Wyatt rushes to the monorail and thought "I just need some time to figure shit out. I just need a night away from this place."

After he made it to the mainland he went to the closest manga cafe to spend the night and drown his emotions in snacks.

Hours passed almost like they were minutes and realized it was almost 5am.

Wyatt thought "Well it's probably best to get back to the academy. If I'm lucky I could convince Miss Orimura that I was with the doc."

Right as he left the cafe and turned the corner he bumped into a gang of thugs.

Thug 1 scowls and says "Watch it you damn foreigner."

Wyatt attempts to move away from the thugs until another of them says "Hey wait a minute I recognize this kid. He's the one that can use an IS."

Thug 1 puts his arm around Wyatt's shoulder and says "Really now. I must say you're a lucky man , my friend."

Somewhat pissed at how casual he was acting to , Wyatt ask "Care to elaborate on how I'm lucky?"

Thug 2 snorts "Looks like Mr. IS got a mouth on him."

Thug 1 responds "The reason you're lucky is because of all that fine ass your probably getting. I mean you probably have a different girl for each meal for a whole month."

Thug 3 laughs and says "Yeah you're probably drowning in breast. How's about the young master spare us peasants some of his scraps."

As the gang laughed , Wyatt felt more and more annoyed at them. He takes the thugs arm of his shoulder and attempts to walk away.

Thug 1 keeps pace with Wyatt and says "What the matter did what we say hit a nerve."

Thug 4 grabs Wyatt's shoulder and says "Probably since girls could only use the IS , than him and the other guy are probably a bunch of sissies".

Thug 2 laughs and says "Makes sense, if he's not plowing his way through the girls than he's probably butt buddies with that other guy. What was his name again , Orimura?"

Hearing that man caused Wyatt to snap as he turned around to punch the thug. But suddenly by a mixture of his emotional instability and pure instinct he summoned his unit's left arm.

The strength of the punch had launched the punch into the air and his body slammed onto the concrete as blood spilled from his head.

Seeing this sight caused the rest of the thugs to run off as Wyatt vomited on the floor. He thought "Fuck I killed him , I just wanted to knock him away."

As his breathing became rapid and he sweat buckets , Wyatt knew there was only one thing he could do in this situation was go to the police.

Several days passed after he turned in and on the fourth afternoon one of the guards says "Danforth, your bail has been posted. You're free to go."

Wyatt sighed as he thought "And I'll be yelled at by Chifuyu in three, two and-."

Right on cue Chifuyu ask "Okay may I ask why you've been arrested for almost killing someone?"

Wyatt says "I got harassed by some punks. I wasn't emotionally stable and accidentally used my IS."

Chifuyu sighs and says "Yeah figures as much, luckily since the victim didn't die and was involved in illegal activities, we managed to wipe this incident off the books. Now come on we have to talk about you breaking curfew."

Wyatt says "I'm sorry but I have to stay here. I don't think I'm brave enough to go back to that place."

Confused Chifuyu says "What do you mean not brave enough? After everything you've been though this should be nothing."

Wyatt shouts "Then you don't understand! Ever since you dragged me across the world I've been scared. But it was thanks to Ichika I managed to bury those feelings and move forward. But now I don't know what to do without him."

As he starts to sob uncontrollably he adds "I'm just some dumb kid from New York, so why in the hell did god let me be an IS pilot."

Chifuyu says "That's why you need to come back. Because before Ichika was attacked he found out his true past. Along with that information we found out more about you as well."

Wyatt stops sobbing and ask "What exactly do you mean true past?"

Chifuyu says "The only way you'll find out if you come back to the academy."

As the two returned to the academy , Wyatt found himself was face to face with the Academy's principal, Juuzou Kutsuwagi in his office.

Juuzou says "Mr. Danforth, it's a pleasure to finally have a chat with you.Though I wished it was during a more joyful occasion."

Wyatt looked on in confusion as he says "And I didn't know you were a man. I thought the principal was female?"

Juuzou says "Well you see to the outside world , my wife has the title of principal. But in reality I'm the one doing the actual work."

Wyatt says "Anyways I was told that for some reason me and Ichika's past are some how linked. Care to elaborate."

Chifuyu says "Me, Ichika and Madoka were apart of a government experiment to artificial create the perfect human being. After 999 attempts, I was the first successful subject. But once Tabane was discovered as naturally perfect, the project was cancelled. So I took Ichika, ran away and raised him myself."

Attempting to process that load of information Wyatt says "So when Ichika said your parents abandoned you guys, that was a lie?"

Chifuyu says "It was the best way to explain to him why I was his only family member. But I had no idea that Madoka existed until recently."

Wyatt says "Okay I can wrap my head about that but the one thing that's bugging me is how can someone like myself use an IS? My birth was literally videotaped and my mom is still in touch with my Obstetrician."

Chifuyu says "We we're getting to that. Turns out the story is even more complex than we ever realized."

Juuzou steps in and says "Once Chifuyu became known as an IS pilot, remnants of Project Mosaica decided to take actions into their own hands.Instead of creating pilots by scratch, they would use existing material."

Chifuyu passed Wyatt a folder and as he looked through it, he realized it had his medical records and notes about genetic alterations.

Juuzou says "It seems they managed to travel across the corners of the earth and experimented with kids. While most kids ended up with zero changes, a select few managed to be successful altered."

Wyatt ask "So you're saying is I'm basically some sort of genetically altered experiment?"

Chifuyu says "I'm afraid so, from the records it seems they managed to altered you around the age of 8."

As Wyatt processed this news he thought "No wonder I was in that hospital for so long , they were making sure the genetic changes were complete."

Chifuyu adds "Don't worry like many of other hospitals these experiments we're done in complete secret.So Kaitlynn and her father had no clue what was happening to you."

Wyatt stood up as he says "If that's all you wanted to say, I'll be taking my leave now."

Before Wyatt could leave the room , Juuzou says "Wait , we're not done with this discussion.We're getting to the main reason you're here today."

Wyatt ask "What else do I need to know , everything I've been doing since the doctor found me has been for nothing."

Chifuyu says "Even so this is a mission only you can accomplish, you're the only man."

These words made Wyatt curious as he asked "Can I ask what this mission is about?"

Juuzou clears his throat and says "Like we said, they went all over to attempt to create male pilots, you're just the first to be discovered and to attend the academy."

Chifuyu adds "With that data that Tabane collected we discovered three others just like you from across the world and wish for them to join our school."

Juuzou says "We had each of their countries test their abilities and they passed . Bad news is that for their own reasons they've rejected our offer to join. So you're mission is to travel and convince them to attend our academy. Of course all funds will be provided by us."

Wyatt says "That seems like a pretty big task to do on my own. Plus can't you guys just I don't know knock them out and stuff them on a plane."

Chifuyu looks away as the principal says "True but unlike last year we have a male student and someone who can help them understand the wonders of the academy."

Wyatt looks into the eyes of his principal and noticed the passion that was burning within. The American sighs and ask "When do I ship out?"

Juuzou says "Later tonight so best be prepared for this whirlwind trip. Also we would like for you to keep the mission's objective a secret for now."

Wyatt gives off a weak smirk and says "Sure thing, let's talk again sometime."

Soon night had fallen as Wyatt was making his way through the airport , he thought "So the first stop is Australia, maybe I'll get to see a kangaroo."
