The festivities lasted for an entire week.
Gamers by the hundreds, if not the thousands, all came to greet the happy couple with their well-wishes, some simply wanted to socialize and network with other Gamers..
And of course there were those who simply came for the banquet. And it was there that the sheer range of Gamers was most apparent. United only by their shared desire for good food.
In a fit of utter boredom, Shiro watched them curiously.
A Gamer and his plus one. A boy and a girl. Mere children, not even in their teens, and just tall enough to reach the food laid out on the buffet tables.
Rain, A shark faunus boy in a little black coat and monochrome scarf, happily piling food onto his plate.
And Nora, a human girl with bright orange hair and in her pink and white shirt, just as happily gulping down all the sugary cola she could.
The boy's white shoulder-length hair that fading into a mint-green at the tips while his forest green eyes twinkled with an innocent joy as his bubbly red-headed friend beside him stacked her own plate just as high.
Rain's forest green eyes held a sort of glimmer in them. The sort of light that drove a person to share their last bits of food with someone he barely knew. The sort of goodness that drove him to risk his life for the girl beside him three times over.
The girl reached for the same piece of roast lamb as the boy- their small hands brushing against each other as they did. The contact of their bare skin seemed to make the girl freeze- her cheeks flushing at the contact. Her turquoise eyes looked up at him shyly.
And Rain only gave her a wide toothy grin with his shark-like mouth.
Which Nora returned, almost as toothily as she passed it off with a laugh.
But as the boy continued to pile food on his plate, Nora looked up at Rain- her turquoise eyes looking at him like he was her whole world, and the million-watt smile that blossomed on her face left no doubt that she was all the more happy for that fact.
A young girl's puppy love for her saviour and her friend.
The picture of innocence.
All while standing beside them was a mass murderer that did not shy away from preying on the weak, standing next to the kids it surely did demonstrate the variety of Gamers that appeared.
The dark figure attracted many curious gazes and much more fear as many Gamers took a step back from the man.
His red eyes moved their gaze from underneath a graceful mess of blonde hair- his hungry gaze moving from dish to dish… and to other Gamers.
And though few will ever know. The truth about this mass-murderer was far more nuanced, for Kaito Kutsuki was just a product of his circumstances. His world was more brutal and unforgiving than the base-line.
A world where the soft-hearted did not last long.
There was a lot that Gamers could justify to themselves for the sake of their own survival. But if people knew what deeds this Gamer had done- some would say that he had gone too far: Murdering beggars to sate his need for power, enslaving devils to his will, innocent people paying for his sins- trapped in his cunning webs of lies and misdirections.
Some would say that he had gone too far. That he should be kept away from the children. But Kaito would counter that they shouldn't have been taking so long with the roast lamb.
Because despite his deeds, Kaito felt that he wasn't the most evil Gamer in attendance.
Shiro only smirked at how right he was.
