Chapter 34: Getting Over an Old Grudge

Kagome goes straight into her bedroom, not really ready to talk. No one in the family. None of her friends. Just wants to be alone. Or so she thought. As soon as she lay on her bed, facing away from her window, a tap gets her to turn to it. She walks over to the window. She opens it to look around to see Inuyasha about to throw a pebble. "I don't want to talk." She only said to him. She is about to close the window until Inuyasha jumped into the room. Making Kagome lose her balance and land on her bed. "Come on, Kagome this is like you." Inuyasha tells her as he grabs her around the waste and leaps out of the open window.

Kagome tries to get out of his grasp with her own strength but it didn't work. She comes up with the next idea. Scream. Inuyasha quickly covers her mouth. "What are you trying to do? Get the whole neighborhood to hear us?" He glares down to her. Kagome nods back since she can't speak when her mouth has been shut closed. "Not happening. We're heading back to the hospital to see your aunt. Kaede is going to get your mother to join us there as well." He explains to her.

Just hearing that made Kagome recover from her shock. Inuyasha removes his hand from her mouth. "Why are we doing this? You have no business with this." She claims to him as they land a block away from the hospital. "Have you forgotten Kikyo's family has business with me since we met. They never liked me one bit. So, this should be taken care of. Little did you know that Miyuki is Kikyo's mother after all." He reminds her from the beginning.

They come into the lobby to see Kaede and Ai waiting for them. "Thank you for bringing Kagome here, Inuyasha." Ai comes to them. "And you apologize to your aunt for leaving the room." Ai suggests to Kagome. "I didn't do anything wrong." Kagome tries to explains to Ai but Ai raised her hand to stop her. "It's not because of that. It's because her feelings were hurt when she saw the look on your face when she revealed the information." Kagome didn't see that coming. "She told me when I visited her when you and Kaede left." Ai said to her. "And I think it's time that my sister and Inuyasha make amends." She gives her idea.

Inuyasha feels uncomfortable about that. "It's not my place." He doesn't want to do it. "I already told Miyuki about it and she's ready to see you. And she wants to see you first." Ai takes hold of his shoulder. Inuyasha sighs roughly. "Alright." He admits defeats and follows the girls to Miyuki's room. Miyuki is reading the book that Kaede brought from their boxes they were packing. A knock on her door alerts her. "Come in." She calls out to the visitor. The doors opens and in comes Inuyasha. "Inuyasha…" Miyuki was only able to say since her daughter's death. "Uh, I'm not really comfortable about this." Inuyasha tells her first. Miyuki agrees with it. "My sister, my niece, and Kaede told me about Kikyo's death. Each individually though. And I blamed you for her death." Miyuki explains it to him. "And you never wanted me at the service or the funeral. You had every right to hold a grudge against. I shouldn't even be here at all." Inuyasha said in sheer anger to her. However, Miyuki remained calm throughout the outburst.

"You're right, Inuyasha. I've had every right to hold a grudge against you. But it was my husband who forced me to be like that. I was so upset that I let those negative emotions take control of me and let my husband to convince me to be like that." Miyuki nods to show that she understands the outcome. But then something crossed his mind. "Your husband?" Where is he?" He asks quickly. Miyuki frowns. "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to ask." Inuyasha waves his hands in defense. "My husband died of a heart attack a year ago. The address that you gave to my sister was the backup house since the one we used to live in was vandalized to unpaid loans." Inuyasha didn't see this coming.

"I see. I was curious how I was able to remember the address to the trailer park instead of the neighborhood that you used to live in?" Inuyasha asks her curiously. "Oh, well the thing is that the address to the trailer park was the real one while the one in the neighborhood is a fake." Miyuki chuckles. Inuyasha is confused. "What do you mean by that?" He asks her. "The address between the two were identical. But the neighborhood's address changed. So instead of the nice area I used to live there is no longer there." Inuyasha seems to get it. For now that is. "So I want to say that I'm truly sorry how I felt about you, Inuyasha. I wish things ended up differently and my daughter would've been alive. Inuyasha nods back. "And I'm sorry too. I should've been there to save her from being killed." He digs into his jacket's one pocket to pull out something.

Kagome, Ai and Kaede enter the room to see Inuyasha give something to Miyuki. It's a picture of himself and Kikyo. The same one that Tsubaki had at one point at school until Inuyasha takes it from her. "I thought that could help you in a way." Inuyasha said softly to Miyuki as well being nervous. Miyuki could tell that Kikyo was really happy in the picture. "May I keep this?" She asks him before noticing the other visitors in the room. Kagome knows exactly what that picture is. "Kagome, dear. Please stay." Miyuki stops Kagome when is about to take a step back to leave the room. Inuyasha sees that Kagome does not want to be in a scene where she is not needed. "That picture was only in his and Kikyo's possession." She was only able to tell him.

Miyuki stare at between Inuyasha and Kagome before realizing where this is going. "Kagome, do you remember that day that I saw Tsubaki holding that picture of me and Kikyo and I told her that only me and Kikyo have that?" He asks her first. Kagome nods back to give him her answer. "That picture was taken before the accident. I bet Tsubaki ransack her possessions to find it." Inuyasha hands over the picture to Miyuki as a memento. "Come with me." Inuyasha takes her hand and leave the room where Ai, Kaede and Miyuki. Kaede is about to go after them, but Ai takes a hold of her shoulder. "Leave them alone. They need to do this on their own." She advices her niece. Kaede agrees and stays put in the room.
