Hello, everyone. Your girl's back to create another chapter for you all. Number 16 will be in this one since you all love him. This will be the chapter where Izuku names Number 16. So thank you all for the names you've been suggesting. It's been wonderful! I don't own the canon characters as they rightfully belong to their actual owners while I only own my OCs.
Izuku watches as the copy machine layout the copies of exam papers. Power Loader had asked him to go to the office to make study notes for the whole class for a small test that Izuku, Mei, and the other students of Class 1-H will be taking a week from now. Izuku felt a little nervous about this test despite that Power Loader telling them that the test is just to see what they've been learning and they aren't being graded on it, much the relive to the other students.
Still, Izuku hopes that he'll do well next week for the test. He should just be glad that they're not being graded on this since U.A. is said to have hard tests. Regardless, Izuku will definitely study hard for this.
"Power Loader-sensei did say just do our best for the test, but I'm still wondering if he wants to see how observant we are in the fields. Support Agents are said to quite focus on their inventions. Maybe he needs to see who's taking this seriously?" Izuku mumbles to himself while watching the copies coming out, accidentally scaring off a few students who're also in the office with him.
While the green-haired boy was busy mumbling to himself, a certain robot with the number 16 was watching him. Number 16 silently stood there in the doorway while observing the human child. The green-haired boy looks nervous yet focuses on the papers coming from the copy machine. Number 16 has been watching Izuku as much as he could. He only had a few encounters with Izuku, but the boy always remains kind towards him despite Number 16 being an ordinary machine like the rest of the robots here.
But Izuku has always treated him and the robots more than machines. He makes them feel like they're alive with their own thoughts and emotions, unlike how everyone treats them as nothing more than machines.
Flashback
Izuku bends down to meet Number 16 eye-to-eye. The tiny robot could feel the strange but warm feeling coming. The green-haired boy smiles sweetly at it as he patted the tiny robot on the head.
"Thank you for helping me find my classroom the other day, little buddy. It really meant a lot to me," Izuku said kindly.
The two of them were alone in the classroom. School had ended for the day, but Izuku stayed back for some reason after the rest of his classmates left. Number 16 saw that the green-haired boy stayed behind while the other humans went home. Seeing the kind human alone in the room, Number 16 noticed that Izuku looks scared
Like someone might try to hurt him. To Number 16, it doesn't make sense to want to hurt someone that gives strange but warm feelings to machines. But that again, humans are known to be extremely cruel to their own members.
"You kind of remind me of another robot from a movie I loved watching as a kid. He was quite helpful, too. Just like you," The green-haired boy carefully lifts the robot in his arms.
Number 16's blue eyes widen from lifted from the ground. The only one that has ever lifted Number 16 and the other smaller robots the most is Power Loader. The students aren't exactly forbidden from lifting the smaller robots from the ground, especially the female ones, since the robots are known to be hard to break if they're accidentally dropped by the students.
"From what I heard, there're much bigger robots in the training field than in the studio. Makes sense since the heroes-in-training need to practice with bigger robots to help reach their goals. Still, I think you guys are just important as the ones in the fields," The green-haired boy remark.
Number 16 never thought that a student will think that he and the other smaller robots are just important as their bigger siblings. The other students would comment that the training robots are much cooler and awesome while Number 16 and the other tinier robots are considered to be cute to hug.
The strange but nice feeling is getting stronger. Izuku's smile felt so warm, almost more than the sun itself. Logically, a smile can't be both brighter and warmer than the sun since it could burn and destroy anything that comes close to it.
But maybe there is something that isn't always logical.
"You two seem to be fond of each other," Power Loader said, standing through the doorway with a smile.
Izuku looks up to see that his teacher has been watching them the entire time. The green-haired boy blushes a little since his teacher just caught him talking and holding one of the robots. But the man wasn't angry about that. It's kind of cute to see his student and robot interacting casually.
"Sensei... I... uh..."
Izuku was a little embarrassed to have his teacher finding him in the classroom alone while talking to one of the assistant bots and a bit worried that Power Loader is a little mad at him for staying after school without permission. Kacchan would have teased him endlessly for talking to some machine if he finds out about this.
Seeing his young student is lost on words, Power Loader decided to approach Izuku as gently as possible. The boy always looks nervous when he's interacting with people. Being so new to U.A., Izuku is having a hard time opening up a bit with his classmates. However, the other day Power Loader heard that Izuku went with Mei, Aikto, Chiyo, Junko, and Fujio for pizza after school.
"It's alright, Midoriya. I'm not angry if that's what you're thinking. I'm just surprised to see you here with Number 16," Power Loader ensures.
Seeing his homeroom teacher not being angry at him for staying at class after the day was over, Izuku sighs as he got from the ground with Number 16 still in his arm. Carrying the tiny robot almost like a baby.
"Sorry for being in class when lessons are over, sir. I was just waiting for everyone else to leave when this little guy rolled up to me," Izuku explains, looking down at Number 16.
Hearing being called a guy by the kindhearted human, Number 16 wonders if it even has a proper gender at all. Most humans have always call Number 16 an "it" since it's exactly a living creature like the staff and students here. That goes to the other machines in U.A. as well. No one has ever given pronouns other than "it" before.
Does Izuku see Number 16 as a fellow living being instead of a mindless machine that always follows orders?
Number 16 tries not to get its hopes up too high.
"I've noticed that Number 16 has been acting strange lately. I thought that it might be some kind of bug that was messing it up," Power Loader says while seeing how Number 16 seems to be comfortable with Izuku.
"Well, he looks fine to me, Sensei. Number 16 has been a great help to me since I got here," Izuku remarks.
Hearing that Izuku indeed saw Number 16 as a male, the tiny robot felt a little happy that a human saw him more than a machine.
Flashback ends
Number 16 slowly rolls up to Izuku while hoping that the other students won't notice him. The last thing Number 16 wants to be surrounded by female students that would no doubt want to cuddle him like a baby. It's different from how Izuku treats him. He doesn't treat Number 16 like he needs to be held all the time and being spoken to like a little baby.
Once the copies are done, Izuku quickly picks the papers up from the copy machine and turns to head back to class before lunch begins. Unaware that he walks past a certain assistant bot who soon follows him out the door.
The tiny robot follows Izuku while trying not to get stepped on by the other humans, even though he'll unlikely be crush by the humans accidentally since he's still unbreakable.
A human girl with brunette hair and rosy cheeks was about to enter the office when she almost steps on the assistant bot before she barely notices who she was about to step on by accident. The brunette girl watches confusedly as the tiny robot bows to her as if saying sorry before going off somewhere.
"U.A. sure loves robots, don't they?" The brunette girl says, almost forgetting that she was supposed to be in the office to deliver some papers for Aizawa-sensei.
Hallway
Izuku keeps looking around his surroundings in case Kacchan might somehow show up out of nowhere. He knows that his childhood bully wouldn't be out of class in this hour, but the green-haired boy still felt that the blonde boy would run up to him any second before screaming at the top of his lungs for ruining his first day of U.A. for showing his freckle face here.
"I'm going to have a good day today. I'm going to have a good day today. I'm going to have a good day today," Izuku kept repeating his words, again and again, to calm himself down.
However, the green-haired boy then heard a beeping noise coming from behind him. Curiously, Izuku turns to see that Number 16 is following him. Happy to see the tiny robot again, Izuku slows down a little to let the assistant bot keep up with him.
Number 16 nearly bump into Izuku's leg before he manages to stop himself from doing so. The kindhearted human smiles at the tiny robot before picking him up.
The human boy began to walk back to class with his robot friend in his arms while managing to carry the copies in his hands.
Number 16 began to beep to Izuku as if trying to tell him something.
"You know, you're the only robot that likes to talk to me. I wonder if the other students have their own robots, too, little guy," Izuku says to his robot friend.
"Not really. You're the only one," Number 16 replies, but it only sounded like beeps to Izuku.
Izuku smiles while Number 16 began to speak to him in his own way, despite that they both know that it only sounds like tiny beeps from the robot. But they both want to make it work regardless of the speaking problems.
"I wonder... Should I give you a name since we're friends now? I know that you actually belong to U.A. and Power Loader, but I figure that maybe having a name would be a lot nicer than to call you by a number," Izuku said while the two are near Class 1-H.
"A name of my own? I always wanted to have one. I'll like that, Izu-chan!" Number 16 beeps happily at the suggestion.
Seeing Number 16 beeping happily at the name suggesting, Izuku thought of what to call his tiny friend. It has been something meaningful since a name can mean something.
It wasn't long until a name came to Izuku's mind.
"How about Tomu? It's after the first friend I've made before I came here. Would you like being called Tomu, little buddy?" Izuku asks the tiny bot.
Hearing the name that Izuku suggested for him, Number 16 happily beep, accepting the name full heartily. He couldn't wait to tell the other robots about this. He already told all of them about Izuku and the nice warmth the boy gives.
"Okay then. Tomu it is. Tomu-chan, would you like to help me in the studio later?" Izuku asks with a warm smile on his freckle face.
Tomu, formerly known as Number 16, beeps in acceptations.
Thank you for reading this, everyone. Izuku has now given Number 16 a name to him. Our little robot baby is named after Tomura. The look on Tomura's face when he finds that Izuku named a robot after him. Thank you all for the name suggestions for Tomu. It has been a blast. Also, the U.S.J Incident will happen on the same day Class 1-H's test.
