Hi all, I'm a day late. Yesterday was my wedding anniversary. Unfortunately this is the last chapter I have written out. I hope to start posting again in a few weeks, until then happy reading.
Megan39 Bella is very dense, and sees the world how she wants it to be, however sometimes the reality around her seeps through, like that time Jessica was getting upset with Lauren and Mike. With Charlie and Jacob she seems to read them better than most and asks herself: how do I make this better, or not make it worse. In this situation, she could see reacting or approaching the subject would do more harm than good, so she changed the subject to give herself more time to process. I hope there aren't too many twists and turns. I wanted to show how comfortable she still was around Jake after knowing his past. Edward had a knife and stabbed Jasper, the gun was in deputy Marks hands. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear, I think I will write an outtake in Edwards' diluted mind.
Guest, I hope you continue to enjoy this story.
4Gracie04 my daughter was right there with you, she was rooting for deputy Mark to shoot him too.
Thank you for your reviews.
Chapter 33
Bella couldn't comprehend anything right now. She had been in denial for so long. Being so desperate to have her fairytale romance, she pushed all Edward's negative behavior out of her mind.
When she saw him last night with another girl, in a more compromising position than she had ever been in with him, she lost it. Her fairytale was no more. She had gone through the stages of grief so quickly it made her head spin.
Denial: She stared at them thinking she couldn't be seeing this. She thought maybe it was someone else, or it was all in her head. She watched them long enough to be sure it wasn't.
Anger: She thought she should be devastated, but when she almost dropped the necklace in her hand it brought back all the memories of how Edward acted just from her talking to Jacob. There he was making out with another girl, did he think she was still tucked away in his room unable to see him? What about all the people at the party, did he think no one would talk about it in school on Monday, or maybe he thought she would not believe the talk, after all she was quick to dismiss rumors in the past. She wanted to hurl that shiny new gem at the back of his head. She wanted him to know she saw him, but she didn't want to confront him right then. So she gave the unwanted necklace to Alice, giving Bella enough time to get away.
Bargaining: She distracted herself with Jacob, focusing on what he was going through and ignoring all her own issues. Her subconscious had other ideas. She was unable to control her dreams so of course he was there. She begged him to stay, even after he said his cruel words and turned his back on her, she pleaded for him to come back to save her.
It wasn't lost on her how he sparkled. He had an inhuman shine, like some kind of fairytale creature in a fairytale land. Maybe she had taken her desires too far.
Depression: waking up and falling apart, she never suspected emotional pain could feel so physical.
Acceptance: She had admitted out loud that he cheated on her, It still didn't feel quite there yet. She was planning on keeping her thoughts busy with other things, to somehow put all the unwanted thoughts in a locked drawer in the back of her mind.
And then he was in her house. Even though she told herself time and time again she wasn't afraid of him, there was no denying the terror that was running through her as she attempted to call her father.
Why was he even there? Why did he hurt Jasper, what were Alice and Jasper even doing there? Why did he go after Jacob instead of her? She was the one he was there for.
"Bell's," Charlie spoke softly. "We need to go to the station. You and Jake need to give your statements."
He gently pushed his daughter away from him and took a good look at her. His brows furrowed and he pursed his lips as he looked over her head at something. Bella followed his eyes to see Jacob just getting off the phone. When Jake looked at the older man he first seemed confused, then his eyes widened and he gave his head a small shake.
When Bella looked back to her father, he was looking down at the floor deep in thought. He worked his jaw like he was chewing a tough piece of steak, and then cleared his throat.
"Jacob, get those cuts looked at, and both of you get dressed. We will be addressing this later."
Bella frowned. Address what later? She knew her brain was having trouble grasping things right now but she felt like she missed a conversation she should have been a part of.
When they entered the station she could hear Edward yelling, she couldn't hear his words but his voice was unmistakable. She must have reacted because her father placed an arm around her ushering her to his office.
"You stay in here, I can't stay with you because I have to go with Jake while they question him. You will be perfectly safe here." Charlie assured her.
She stayed, for about five minutes. Bella quietly opened the door and peeked out. Everyone was busy with paperwork or on the phone. She crept out of the office and made her way to the cells. She didn't stop to think or ask herself why but she had to see him. The only noise heard now was the milling about of the few officers, and secretaries in the station.
She froze when she saw him. He was sitting on the floor leaning his back against the bars of the cell door. He must have seen her because he started talking.
"You were supposed to be my salvation. You were my ticket through the golden gates, so very good, wholesome and pure." He spoke reverently, then his voice turned dark. There was a growl in his words that got deeper the longer he spoke. "That's all over now. That dog, that animal ruined you."
He turned to look at her, a crazed smile on his lips and a gleam in his eye. He burst out into manic laughter as he stood leering at her.
"We're all going to hell now." He announced as the laughter continued.
He turned and ran toward the concrete wall bashing his head against it, he pulled his head back and rammed it into the wall once again. Bella could hear screaming. She didn't realize it was her until people rushed past her and a warm set of arms were lifting her up and taking her away from the bloody scene in front of her.
Blinded, unable to see anything but color through the blurriness of her tears, the only thing she could do was grip on to the arms around her.
There was a loud bang, then her fathers voice. "What the hell do you think you were doing?" He was angry.
"Charlie," Came the deep husky voice of the man that held her.
He placed his large hand on the side of her head cradling it to his chest. She concentrated on the strong study beat of his heart.
After an ambulance came and took Edward away Bella was placed back in Charlie's office so they could finish with Jake. When it was her turn Bella answered the questions on autopilot, forgetting each word spoken almost immediately.
When they got home they found the kitchen in shambles, stepping over the blood that seeped into the floor in the kitchen doorway, Bella walked over to where they kept the cleaning supplies. She brought out the broom, dustpan, and mop. Placing them on the side she started to put the furniture right, each move she made was mechanical in nature.
"Bells," Charlie said. "Why don't you leave that, I can hire someone to come clean it up."
She ignored him, continuing to pick the chairs off the ground. It wasn't until she felt a bite of pain in her hand that she came back to herself. Gasping she brought the offending hand up to examine it, a chunk of porcelain embedded in her skin dripped with blood.
Jacob grabbed her wrist with one hand and pulled the fragment out with the other. He pulled her over to the sink and put her hand under the running water, she watched as the cold liquid mixed with her blood and washed down the drain.
"Pack a bag, we are staying at Billy's tonight." She heard Charlie call from the hall.
When they arrived at the house, Billy looked the teens over thoroughly. Shaken at the bandages on Jake it took a lot of convincing and a visit from Sue before he finally conceded that they were otherwise okay. Bella was assigned the twins' old room and Charlie was going to take the couch. He spent at least a half hour yelling at his friends, something about never listening to them again.
Once all his bluster was over, he and his friends had a few drinks, Jacob had gone into his room and Bella to her temporary one.
She tossed and turned for hours, eventually, she gave up. Getting out of bed and stepping into the hall she could hear Charlie and Billy's unsynchronised snores echoed loudly through the house.
Bella knocked softly on Jake's door. He cracked the door open, and seeing her he squeezed out closing it behind him.
"What's up?" He asked in a whisper.
"I couldn't sleep, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to hang out."
"You don't want to be alone?" He surmised.
"No, I don't." She confirmed.
He looked back at the door and uttered. "Shit."
"Alright, but not a word." He told her.
Before she could say anything he pulled her in his room.
Bella was shocked to find Lauren sitting on his bed looking very cozy. She was about to apologize then turn and run, but as soon as she opened her mouth Jake cupped her chin and placed his thumb over her lips, catching her eyes with his he shook his head. He sat in the middle of his bed pulling Bella down next to him, Lauren on his other side.
"Oh come on," the blonde complained. "There's barely enough room for two of us in this tiny ass bed."
Jake gestured to the window and then the door.
Lauren huffed an annoyed sigh but didn't move.
A movie was just beginning in a portable dvd player that sat on the dresser across from the bed. At some point they all ended up laying down, Bella closest to the wall Jake in the middle and Lauren barely fitting on the edge.
Bella was the first to fall asleep, and the first to wake up. Much like the day before Jake's arm laid around her waist, his hot breath on the back of her neck. The biggest difference other than their location was the small fist uncomfortably pushing into her lower back.
Trying to dislodge the fist Bella turned, setting of a chain of events.
Bella had rolled onto her arm, pulling it out from underneath her she elbowed Jake in the ribs. He jumped in surprise, bumping into Lauren knocking her back a few inches, BAM! she hit the floor.
"Ouch!"
Thank you for reading.
