The Way Forward - Chapter 34: On Our Way

.

Sunday, July 17 (Continued):

Various Estates around Tokyo:

Laptop, notebooks and pens, today's newspapers, gum, water bottle, and one of Dad's trashy romance novels.

I think that's it for my carryon. I'll use my phone as a camera, and I have the charger and that fancy new waterproof case the IT department gave me. Not sure why they upgraded the phone, but they gave the same one to Takashi and Satoshi, so it must be an estate-wide upgrade. I'll play with it on the plane.

.

I tossed another couple t-shirts and shorts into Chika's bag. Since he's so tight on time when he gets here, he asked me to pack for him. Whatever I forget, he can buy there.

Taka and I studied the pictures of the estate and figured running around the island on the beach will be a good enough cardio workout. It's about twenty kilometers. They have a gym, so we'll do strength work there. Barbells and dumbbells.

Probably should run Haruhi through her self-defense stuff at least once so she doesn't get rusty.

.

"Are you taking your laptop?"

"Yeah, and my tablet."

I looked over at Hika's suitcases. "How many bags are you bringing? It's only for six days."

"Only three." He saw my brow go up. "What? It's not like we'll be wearing the same thing all day."

"Yeah, I guess."

"You're taking two."

He has a point. I wasn't sure what to bring, so I brought a bit of everything.

"I've got something for Haruhi."

"What?"

"Mom gave me a couple of her bikinis for her. She'll look so hot."

"Hika…you know she doesn't like that stuff."

"Someone needs to tell her she's a girl. Girls are supposed to like girly stuff."

"I want to be there when you tell her."

.

I walked into the lounge and found Yuki-chan reading a manga.

"You're all packed?"

She looked up and shrugged. "Yes. I was mostly packed yesterday. Just a few odds and ends today." She closed the manga, keeping her place with her finger. "Are you and Sota-kun ready?"

"That boy is going to drive us all crazy." I rolled my eyes up to the ceiling. "He's up there now with his nanny repacking for the fiftieth time. Keeps changing his mind about the shirts he wants to take. I told her just to pack them all."

"What about toys?"

"There are games, video games, and all kinds of water toys there. He's bringing some books, some toy cars and trucks, and I've got a couple new Lego sets tucked away for when he gets really bored."

"Which ones?"

"Some ninja castle and city he said he wanted. Maybe some of you will want to play with him."

"I'm sure we will."

.

Phone Call:

Akito: "Are you ready?"

Yuki: "I think so. I've packed enough swimsuits to change every couple of hours. For some reason, Renge thought we all needed a dozen."

Akito: "I'm sure you'll look fantastic in all of them."

Yuki: "Thanks." My face turned hot thinking about him in his swimsuit.

Akito: "Are you bringing some lazy things to do?"

Yuki: "A few manga. I bought two new series the other day. Perfect beach reading. You?"

Akito: "A couple of textbooks."

Yuki: "You better bring something fun to do, or I'll toss all those textbooks into the ocean."

Akito: "I loaded up my Nook with some science fiction."

Yuki: "Good. Maybe if I get through all the manga, I can read one of yours."

Akito: I love that she's trying to get into science fiction. "Only if I can read your manga."

Yuki: "Deal."

.

Should I bring condoms or not? We promised not to have sex until we got married, but every time we start making out, it gets harder…yeah, harder. How much longer is almost everything but going to be enough?

It's not like I don't have any. Tetsuya keeps slipping them into my pockets, bags, and drawers. He'd even made sure to tell me they are in the compartments in the cars. He must think I'm a fucking god with how many he keeps giving me. They fill three shoe boxes in my closet.

Shit.

I tossed the handful I was holding back into the box. I won't need these. We won't need these. We made a promise, and we can keep it. It's a promise to each other. If we can't keep that we shouldn't be getting married in the first place.

.

"I've packed everything you requested, Mistress. Have you thought of anything else?"

"No, Eri. I think that's everything except for my cosmetics. I'm almost done with those," I called out from the bathroom. I'd packed seven different shades of pink eyeshadow, several tubes of cake lip gloss, and lots of pink hair ties and ribbon.

"What about this?" she asked as I walked back into my bedroom. She held up a flat wrapped package.

"That goes in my carryon. I can't wait to show those off to Honey-kun."

"I'm sure he will enjoy them, Mistress."

I smiled thinking about the present. I had to special order them from Korea, but it was worth it. I got some for everyone else, but I'm not as sure about those. We'll see.

.

Group Text [emoji]:

Hikaru: Satoshi, make sure to bring lots of cards. I want to play Hell.

Kasanoda: Me too

Satoshi: thirty decks better be enough

Haruhi: I would think so. Are we playing with the mermaids too?

Satoshi: If they want to [rolling eyes]

Tamaki: Mermaids? I've never seen any. I didn't know they lived in the South Pacific. [Mermaid]

Haruhi: He's kidding, Senpai. No mermaids.

Tamaki: Darn

Kaoru: Are you bringing enough clothes, Haruhi? You're not just bringing one small bag, are you?

Haruhi: No. Honami-san helped me pack…two huge bags. I have enough to wear for a month

.

I can't wait to see Renge-chan. It's been a whole day.

And we'll be spending the next six days together on a beach.

"Tamaki."

"Yes, Father." He's standing in my doorway, leaning on the frame.

"Please remember you are the Suoh heir, and that you and Renge-chan are only engaged, not married."

"I will." I won't make the mistakes you made. I won't cause my child to be ostracized and shunned, and his mother to be left alone without any contact.

"Good. I'm trusting you to go without Shima."

"We'll be fine." I wish Shima was going. We get along much better than we used to. But the heat and sun are too much for her at her age.

"Then, enjoy your trip."

"Yes, Father."

I'd hoped he'd loosen up a little after Grandmother passed, but not yet. Maybe when Mother gets here.

.

"I'm trusting you, Shinobu, not to do anything stupid."

"Mother," I sighed and stared at her sitting on my bed, "I'm a virgin now and will be when we get back, so stop it with that."

"I'm not worried about that." She waived her hands in the air, dismissing the subject. "I want you to follow Kono's rules and behave. No sneaking off and ditching your security."

"I hadn't planned on that. It's a private island. They aren't going to be hanging on our every movement. Mainly keeping us on it and others off."

She frowned. "Just be careful. You are the heir."

"Yes, Mother." I turned around and rolled my eyes, turning back when I heard the door close.

Now, back to packing.

Black teddy, string bikini, leather corset and miniskirt…

.

The diamond sparkled as I moved in under the sunlight. It's beautiful, just like Yuki-chan.

And, surprisingly, almost exactly what I would have picked out on my own. A single solitaire, round cut, five carats on a platinum band. Simple and classic. I expected something more outrageous from someone so much younger than I am, but our tastes are compatible.

One more reason this is a good match.

.

I found Haruhi at the koi pond with Koko on her lap. Her eyes followed the biggest fish as he circled. She tossed another handful of food in and started a frenzy.

"Are you all packed?" I asked quietly, but still caused her to start so violently Koko jumped off her lap and ran.

"Takashi," she had her hand on her chest. "You scared me."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." I sat down next to her on the sofa. "Are you alright?"

She was still taking deep breaths. "I'm fine. Just startled, that's all." Another couple breaths, and she said, "I'm ready to go. Are you?"

"Hn."

"I'm looking forward to the trip. I want some peace and quiet even with this group."

And I'll make sure you get it.

Haninozuka Estate:

"What?" Yorishia barked into the phone. Then he stood up, and I knew something was very wrong.

"When?"

"Where?"

"Do we know if he's…"

"Call me the second you know anything."

He slammed the phone down and turned to me.

"Engine trouble. Yasuchika's plane is making an emergency landing."

Security Conference Call (Security referred to by the family they work for):

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san, Head of Security): "The advance team has everything ready. They've swept the island and started patrolling with the boats."

Ootori: "The plane's ready. It's been swept and has been guarded since last night."

Hitachiin: "We're sending two extra to assist with any PR issues."

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san): "Good. We're expecting those."

Kasanoda (Tetsuya): "What about neighboring islands?"

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san): "We've got undercovers staying at the closest resorts. So far, nothing to report. No chatter."

Haninozuka (Ishikawa-san, Head of Security) just joining the call: "We have an emergency. Yasuchika-sama's plane is being forced to make an emergency landing in Seoul due to engine trouble. So far, no word on injuries."

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san): "Ootori, inform the necessary authorities we'll be delaying our takeoff until we know more."

Ootori: "Right away."

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san): "Ishikawa-san, keep me informed."

Haninozuka (Ishikawa-san): "Yes."

Morinozuka (Oshiro-san): "We'll have another call as soon as we can make a decision. I'll send updates through the chat."

Phone call between Chika and his parents:

Chika: "Mother, Father, we landed in Seoul. We're fine."

Kumi: "Is anyone hurt? Are you alright?"

Chika: "Everyone's fine. No injuries." Just a couple of us getting sick. I heard my mother crying softly in relief. I hate worrying her.

Yorishia: "Thank the gods."

Chika: "Yes, Sir."

Yorishia: "If no one was injured, security should already be working on getting everyone back to Tokyo."

Chika: "They are. The next shuttle is in an hour. I'll be on it along with some of the team. There isn't enough room for everyone. The rest will be on the next flight."

Yorishia: "Is security contacting their families?"

Chika: "Yes, and they are calling their families directly. Everyone's been notified."

Yorishia: "Alright. Your mother and I will see you soon."

Chika: "Yes, Sir."

Honey: Chika-chan's plane just emergency landed in Seoul!

Honey: They lost an engine!

Yuki: Is he alright? Was anyone hurt?

Honey: No injuries

Haruhi: How scary. Glad everyone is alright

Kasanoda: what was wrong with engine?

Honey: Don't know yet.

Kasanoda: are your security people looking into it?

Haruhi: Wouldn't mechanics be the right people to call?

Kasanoda: Not if it was sabotage

Haruhi: You must be joking. Why would anyone do that?

Kasanoda: who knows? it's what we would look at first

Honey: Mechanics are looking at it. They'll call in security if they need to

Haruhi: I forget you all live in a different world

Hikaru: You live in it to now Haruhi

Yuki: You sure everyone is alright?

Honey: Yes. Chika-chan said they were nervous, but not hurt

Shinobu: Is he going to make our flight?

Honey: It's delayed now. He's on the next flight from Seoul to Tokyo. He'll meet us at the airport. Your security will give you more info

Satoshi: Since we're all ready to go, you should all come over here for dinner and leave for airport from here.

Renge: That's short notice. You sure your kitchen staff is fine with that?

Renge: Satoshi?

Satoshi: Sorry about that. Just checked. It's fine. Come over when you're ready.

Private Hanger, Airport, Tokyo:

"Chika!"

I held back while the rest of them charged and cringed when he was squeezed in a massive group hug. Apparently, those idiots don't know him very well. He's not a hugs kind of guy.

"Are you alright?"

"Were you scared?"

And many other stupid questions were asked.

I finally made it into the group and said, "Congratulations on your gold medal, Chika. I looked it up. You're the only person to have ever won every world cup in a season."

"Thanks, Haruhi-senpai." I could barely hear him with everyone else shouting.

I squeezed his hand and pointed to his parents. "They don't look worried, but they definitely were."

"I'll be back," he called over his shoulder as he jogged over to the Haninozuka's.

.

"Yasuchika!" Mother shocked me by scooping me up off my feet in a huge hug. I'm only a few inches shorter than her. "You scared me. I'm so glad you're all right."

"Yes, Son." He put his arms around Mother and me and hugged us both. I'd never seen this level of affection from them in public.

"I'm fine. I was scared, but I'm fine now."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course, Mother. No one was hurt."

We talked about the flight, competition, and upcoming vacation for a few minutes, neither of them letting me go. I didn't realize how much this affected them.

"Are you sure you're alright to get onto another plane so soon?"

"I'm fine, Mother. Oshiro-san told you about the cause of the problems, right?"

"A bird strike, yes. We weren't going to let any of you leave until we knew there wasn't a security risk."

"I realize that, but I'm not sure how many of the others did."

"Doesn't matter. No one was at fault." I studied my father's face, and it was paler than normal. Maybe I should move back home from my Aunt and Uncle's. I haven't seen hardly any of my parents since Haruhi-senpai moved in.

"I will be alright. All of us will."

They both hugged me tight again then escorted me to the plane.

"We're going on that? It's huge."

"It's a 747. None of us own one that big, so the Ootori's rented it for us." Yuki smiled and looked up at Akito-san. "They have an open contract to rent one this size."

"So do the Hitachiin's, but Yuki's security beat us to it."

"Yes, but since I'm the only Ootori on the flight, it's less likely anyone will link this rental to this group." His smile faded, "It's a security thing."

Before I could even think the words, Takashi stopped me. "Flying commercial would take twice as long and be a huge security risk. Besides, with all the people coming, the cost isn't that much more."

"Really?" I tilted my head. "I want to see that financial analysis."

I heard Shinobu burst out laughing, "Haruhi, you sound like an accountant. Chill out and enjoy the ride."

"Whatever."

Flight over the Pacific:

"This is your captain speaking. The flight tonight will be approximately twelve hours. We're scheduled to land in Tahiti at 2:17 pm Sunday local time.

"Current weather reports show no issues.

"We're waiting on tower clearance."

.

"We're landing before we leave?"

"Yes. Tahiti is nineteen hours behind us, and it takes twelve to get there, so we're landing seven hours before we take off."

"Weird."

We were all gathered in the dining room before scattering to different parts of the plane. With a table that seats twelve and two sofas, it's the only room big enough for us all.

As the 'chaperone' for the trip and the only mother, I took charge. "I recommend taking a short nap at the beginning of the flight and then trying to stay awake until we land. You'll want to be able to sleep tonight local time."

"Yes, Mother," Akito said. I wish I could smack that smirk off his face.

"She's not your mom, Uncle Akito. She's mine!" My son defends me. How cute.

"You're right, Sota. I apologize." Akito nodded at him and winked at me. I'm already not sure about this trip.

"The ends of most sofas recline and there are eight partitioned off single beds above staff seating. Would it be alright if Sota and I take the stateroom king bed? It would be easiest for us since it's right next to the main bathroom."

They all agreed. "There's also a sofa in there if one of you girls wants to take a nap there. Sota's nanny is riding in staff seating."

"I might, if you don't mind."

"No problem, Yuki-chan."

Then the Captain came back on the intercom: "Ladies and Gentlemen, please find a seat and fasten your seatbelt. We've just received clearance from the tower and will be taking off momentarily."

Everyone scattered.

.

xXx

.

After Takeoff:

"I'm not tired." Sota stamped his foot and pouted.

I will not smile. I will not smile.

"Well, your little brother or sister is making me very sleepy, so I need to take a nap." I pulled back the covers. "Please get in and try."

"NO!" he stamped his foot again. "I wanna go find Yuki-chan. I don't wanna sleep."

Maybe I should get his nanny. She can knock him over the head with something.

"Did I hear someone call my name?" Yuki-chan poked her head in. "I'm ready for my nap. How about you, Sota-kun?"

"I'm not tired." It was completely ruined by the huge yawn.

She put her bag down by the sofa and tapped her chin with a finger. "I guess I'm not really either. How about you join me here on the sofa and I'll read you a manga."

"Yea!"

She held it up to me, "Don't worry, it's appropriate for his age. It's about a bunch of middle school boys playing tennis."

I bet they don't make it through the second chapter.

.

As soon as the fasten seatbelt light went out, Chika practically ran upstairs to the beds.

"He must be exhausted."

"And overly jetlagged with both flights. I bet he sleeps for hours."

"Haruhi, do you want to study after we all wake up?"

I didn't even look up from my phone. "Sure. I only want to look at Greek art on the plane. No studying on the island."

"Great. There's an office behind the dining room we can use. It will be quiet." Renge stood up and grabbed her bag. "I think I'll take a nap on the couch in there."

"Alright. I'll join you when I wake up."

"Where are you sleeping?"

"Up in one of the beds."

I tossed my phone back in my bag, went upstairs, and grabbed an open bed. Pulling the curtain closed, I decided to change into a t-shirt and leggings. I'll probably wear them until we're about to land.

An airplane with beds. I shouldn't be shocked anymore.

The humming of the airplane was just lulling me to sleep when I heard loud moaning and then, "NO!"

I leapt out of bed and threw the curtain open, running into Satoshi in the narrow corridor. He pointed to a curtain, "It's Chika."

"I've got it," I told him and pulled the curtain back. He was thrashing around, still asleep.

"Chika?" I touched his shoulder gently, but he didn't wake up. "Chika?" This time he jumped and woke up.

"No," he gasped and sprang up, our heads nearly colliding. "Haruhi?" He must be completely out of it to forget the 'senpai'. He's always so formal.

"You were having a nightmare. Are you alright now?" I ran my fingers through his hair, trying to relax him. He's breathing so fast. "Deep breaths. That's it." His hair's wet with sweat.

It took several minutes for him to calm down.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up."

"No problem." I sat down at the end of the bed. "Do you want to talk about it."

"No." I watched him gulp down an entire bottle of water with shaking hands. That's the adrenaline wearing off. "I thought the plane was crashing."

I figured as much. He just accomplished what no other karate practitioner ever had. He should be happy.

"Well, it's not. We're still up in the air and there aren't any problems."

"Yeah." His hands scrubbed through his hair and he reached for another bottle of water. "I don't think I can go back to sleep."

"Want some company?"

"Don't you need to sleep?"

"We're both tired. I bet we end up conking out within twenty minutes."

"You're on."

I got my bag from the other berth in case someone else wanted to use it, then came back and curled up next to Chika.

"Tell me about the competition."

He was back asleep within ten minutes, and I quickly followed.

.

After I heard Haruhi start snoring, I closed my eyes and tried to get back to sleep.

Taka's down on the sofa in the corridor outside the office. It's the only place to sleep longer than he is. Maybe he won't see Chika and Haruhi curled up together. Or maybe he should. That might kick him in the ass.

I snuck out of bed and opened their curtain a crack. Just enough to take a picture with my phone.

I don't want to wake him up, so I'll show him later.

.

Honey-kun and I ended up on the upper deck lounge on the curved sofa. I'm sitting on the end with the chaise lounge and he's lying on the sofa with his head on my thigh. He fell asleep as soon as I started gently running my fingers through his hair.

His classes are going well. The bakeries are thriving. I think it's time for another discussion with my parents. That marriage contract won't negotiate itself.

I snuggled up with Usa-chan and fell asleep with my hand still in Honey-kun's hair.

.

Opening the door to the office, I saw a lump under the blanket on the sofa, golden hair peeking out of the top. "There you are, my darling fiancée."

Renge-chan pulled the blanket down and blinked with sleepy eyes. "Tamaki-kun, care to join me."

"That would not be proper." I'm sure my face is deep red. I cannot believe she suggested such a thing. And with that smirk.

"Why don't you sit down, and I'll use your lap as a pillow."

That's highly inappropriate and very close to some of my 'naughty' dreams. "Only if…if you also use the pillow on my lap too."

"Alright." She sat up so I could sit down.

After getting comfortable on her side facing the front of the sofa, she smiled up at me. "Good night."

"Good…" I had to clear my throat to get rid of the lump. "Good night."

I leaned back and tried to fall asleep myself.

.

When the captain told us to find our seats, Bu and I wasted no time. She grabbed my hand and pulled me straight up to the beds.

"We both can't fit in that berth."

"Wanna bet?"

She pulled back the covers and climbed in, laying down on her back. "Come here, Ritsu." I knew I was in trouble when I heard her use that husky voice.

Fucking ended up with my waist between her legs, and my head using her tits as a pillow.

This crazy chick is going to kill me.

.

"Hey, Hika. Does the mile high club count if you do it yourself?"

"What?"

"You heard me."

"Shit. I have no idea. I guess it does if you want it to."

"I miss Naoko."

"You mean the sex."

"Yes, but the other stuff too. Having someone that's yours and being theirs."

"And the sex."

"And the sex."

"Go to sleep, Kaoru."

"You too."

We're in the upper lounge with Honey-senpai and Cho senpai. They're already asleep, but we've been talking.

As soon as I pretended to fall asleep, Kaoru got up and left. I assume to find a bathroom.

Security Meeting, Main Lounge:

We'd asked that the main lounge be kept empty so we could use it while everyone was asleep. Once the're up, we'll move to staff seating or the beds for some rest.

"I'll run through my checklist quickly then we can nap in shifts. There will be a full security conference call ninety minutes before we land."

All families agreed to put me in charge of all security for the trip. As the head of the Morinozuka security division, I have the experience and the knowledge to handle this. Looking around the room, there were the heads of all the bodyguard teams along with a few extra. The bulk of the security forces were sent ahead to secure the island and map out patrols.

"Advance security has swept the island and found nothing of concern. Patrols have been set and will be confirmed when we arrive. I want everyone's approval so there is no apprehension.

"Three yachts have been rented. They will circle the island in a triangle formation, each keeping the other two in sight. That will prevent an approaching boat from slipping through.

"Speedboats will be used as well. One associated with each yacht, and two close to the shore. These are independent of any being used for water activities by the primaries."

I looked up from my notes. "Questions so far?"

When the room stayed silent, I continued. "Two of the yachts along with their speed boats will meet us at the airport. The transfer between islands is when we are most vulnerable. We'll also be using drones.

"Do your best to keep the primaries from realizing the security issues, though some of them will know from their own experience."

"The yakuza and the Zuka's."

"Yes, though Ootori should as well."

"The airport is comparatively small, and we will all have to go through customs. Because of the numerous celebrities that come through, they are used to making accommodations. We've paid extra for customs to occur on the plane. From there, we'll go directly to the docs via chartered bus.

"Though we'll be separated from the public, it's possible for any one of them to be recognized, so stay sharp. Primaries should keep out of sight until we are away from Tahiti.

"Once we're on the island, security on the boats is responsible for keeping people away. Security on the island is responsible for keeping the primaries from doing something reckless or stupid."

Several of them chuckled under their breaths. I have to agree. When we put them all together, there's no telling what can happen.

"There's a doctor and nurse on this flight, and a doctor and nurse that went with the advance team. They'll set up an emergency area. We all know how things can go wrong with this group."

I looked around the room one last time. "Questions?"

There were none.

"Alright. You know the rotation for the flight. Those of you not on duty, go rest."

.

xXx

.

After the naps:

"What are you doing?" I'd woken up with blurry eyes and found Kaoru sitting at the table instead of asleep on the sofa with me.

"Sketching. Filling in the holes in the fall collection now that I'm able to see the whole thing. Waki-san also emailed the newest jewelry designs, so I'm adding them to some of the garment mockups to see if they work."

I looked over his shoulder and whistled. "Looking good, little brother."

"Where is all the little brother shit coming from?" he asked as he turned around to glare at me.

"No idea. It's just fun, I guess."

I stepped back when he growled. "Go away. I need to get this done, and we all agreed no work or studying on the island."

"OK." I put my hands up in surrender and backed up. "I'll just go find someone fun."

.

I was coming down from the bed berths and almost ran into Hikaru-senpai.

Yes, I can tell them apart. Hikaru-senpai is definitely more mischievous and snarky.

"Hey, I was just looking for you. Kaoru's working and I'm bored."

"Wanna see something cute?"

"I guess…"

I showed him the picture of Haruhi-senpai and Chika all curled up together asleep, and he flipped. "Please tell me you're going to show that Mori-senpai."

"Hell, yeah." I leaned back and laughed, "Why do you think I took it?"

"Let's go," and we turned back down the corridor. He didn't get two steps before he stopped.

I ran right into him. "Hey, what'd you stop for?"

"I have a better idea. Let's send Mori-senpai to wake them up."

"How are we going to do that?"

"Follow my lead…"

He took off, and I kept close, but not enough to bang into him. When we got to the long sofa, Taka was already awake and checking his phone.

"Hey, Mori-senpai." Taka nodded at us. "I'm worried Haruhi's sleeping too long." He dropped down on the sofa. "But I don't think it's a good idea if I wake her up." Taka looked at him out of the corner of his eyes.

"What about one of the girls?"

"Can't find one. Think they're all still asleep."

"Hn." Taka looked at his watch. "We should wake everyone up."

"Great! You take the loft upstairs and we'll do down here." Then Hikaru-senpai took off to the lounge, and I followed.

Wish I could be there to see it.

.

"Honey-kun, it's time to wake up."

All I got was a growl.

"Honey-kun, how about some cake."

He shot upright, "Where?" And they say he's hard to wake up. Just have to know the magic word, and it isn't 'please'.

I pushed a button and called a flight attendant. "Cake for one and tea for both of us, please."

"Lots of cake."

Soon he was up and alert and on his third piece.

.

How did I get into this? What am I going to do?

She'll think I'm a pervert.

Am I a pervert?

Maybe I am with all these thoughts in my head.

What am I going to do?

I glanced down at my lap and wished I hadn't. Renge-chan is driving me crazy. Sometime in the last hour she rolled over, and her mouth is dangerously close to…

Can't think about that.

I leaned my head back and stared at the ceiling. Even thinking of my grandmother naked isn't helping.

What am I going to do?

.

An alarm was going off softly in the background, and I realized Sota-kun and I are still half sitting, half lying down, and I'm still holding the manga. We didn't finish the first chapter.

Fuyumi-san turned the alarm off. "We should wake him up or he'll never go to sleep tonight."

"How are you feeling?"

"Like I could sleep another ten hours." She placed both her hands on her growing stomach. "I have to remember I'm building another person in here."

"Why don't you get something to eat and go back to sleep. Between me and his nanny, we can keep him occupied."

She considered for a minute but agreed. "Thanks, Yuki-chan. They better have some ramen in the galley." She headed out of the stateroom, with a stop in the restroom first.

"Sota-kun," I said gently and shook him. "Sota-kun, it's time to get up."

"Why?" He didn't open his eyes, just snuggled further under the blanket.

"Well, I thought you'd want to explore the plane and say 'hi' to everyone."

That got his head out from under the blanket, and his eyes open. "Then what?"

I couldn't help laughing at that pouty face. "Then some snacks and maybe a game with some of the guys."

"What game?"

I pulled back the covers to get him going. "We'll think of something. Come on. Let's see what they have in the galley."

"French fries."

"Alright, but some protein too."

"Fish sticks."

"Done."

.

I'm not sure why Hikaru wouldn't wake her up. That incident was over a year ago, and she forgave him.

I knocked on the doorframe of the first berth on the left.

No response.

"Haruhi?" I knocked again.

Still nothing.

I cracked the curtain and peeked in.

Huh?

Haruhi's in there still asleep, but Chika's snuggled up with her, his head on her chest and his arms around her waist.

What's going on?

I rubbed my eyes, but that didn't change anything.

"Haruhi?"

Her eyes slowly opened and focused on me. "Takashi. Is it time to get up?"

"Hn."

"Alright. We'll be down in a minute."

I backed away and let the curtain close. I could hear her waking Chika up.

"Haruhi-senpai, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…"

"It's alright. I'm sure you slept better with me here than alone. One nightmare is too many."

Nightmare?

I backed up and my knees hit the foot of the bed across the corridor. Sitting down, I stared at their curtain. Chika had a nightmare? Was it about his emergency landing?

Haruhi's probably the only one he'd talk to about it, so I'm glad she was there for him.

Did those two know they were in the same bed when they sent me here to wake them up?

.

My grandmother naked.

Shima naked.

Rotting garbage.

Math.

Nothing's working.

I shifted slightly, trying to move her face away from me.

It didn't work, but she woke up.

"Tamaki-kun?"

"Renge-chan." It came out like a squeak. "I think it's time to wake up."

My face is hot, so I'm probably blushing. Great.

She pulled away and sat up. Then she stretched and her t-shirt pulled up over the waistband of the shorts she's wearing.

I've got to get out of here.

"I think I'll get something to eat." She smiled at me. "Haruhi, Yuki, and I are going to study in here for a while. We've got that art history test on Monday. Can you find something to keep you busy?"

"Definitely." And I left as fast as I could.

.

"The FUCK!"

I jerked awake to the sound of automatic gunfire and pulled my weapon from my boot. But couldn't see any flashes or smell any gunpowder.

"Will you calm down, Asshole. That's just my alarm."

"Why the fuck do you have gunfire as your alarm, you crazy chick? That's a good way to get yourself shot."

"Why the fuck do you have your gun on you? That's a good way to put a hole in the plane."

My body gave out, and I collapsed back on top of her. "Fucking crazy chick."

"Everything OK in there?" That's Akito-san's voice. We must have woke him up.

"Yeah. We're fine."

"Alright. I'm going down to find something to eat."

"We'll be there soon."

I lifted my head off her stomach and stared at her. My sneer disappeared with that look in her eyes. "Maybe not too soon. Come here and kiss me, Ritsu."

Shit.

Later On the Plane…

"Is your mother still asleep, Sota-kun?"

"Yuki-chan! Where were you?"

I chuckled as I scooped him up. "Studying. Remember?"

"Yeah. Boring."

"Well, what have you been up to?" I was glad to see his nanny not looking too frazzled.

"Coloring. I made pictures for everyone."

I held out my hand, "Let's deliver them."

"Yea!"

We found Akito-kun in the dinning room studying. Chika was on his tablet.

"Uncle Akito! I made you a drawing!"

He pulled him up onto his lap. "Wow. For me? Sota-kun nodded. "Tell me about it."

"That's you," he pointed, "and that's Yuki-chan."

"What are we doing?" I looked over his shoulder and thought the same thing.

"Playing Lego with me." Oh, that's what all the different colored things are. Some of those blocks are as big as my head.

Akito-kun ruffled his hair and kissed the top of his head. "Thanks. I'll keep it here right in my book so I can look at it in classes."

"Great! When you get bored, you can think of me."

"Definitely."

He laughed as he was set down, then he wandered over to Chika. They haven't interacted much at all. I think Sota-kun's intimidated by him.

"Chika-san?"

He turned and smiled at him. "Yes, Sota-kun?"

"I have a drawing for you." Sota-kun held it up. I could tell he was nervous. He kept shifting from foot to foot.

Chika set it down on the table. "Is this me?"

"Yes. You're doing karate." I'd told him about his competitions. "My nanny helped me make the rings."

"Thank you. I'm honored to be going to the Olympics and your rings are perfect." Sota-kun's smile went from ear to ear. "I'll put this in my locker for motivation."

"Yea!" He spun around several times, not really knowing what to do with his energy. "Good luck!"

Then he ran out of the room, and I followed.

.

Cute kid. Can't tell he's got Ootori blood.

I really will put this in my locker. If nothing else, it will help me relax a bit before a match.

Picking up my tablet, I went through the questions I'd listed. I have so much to research about how charitable finances work.

Will the others agree to this?

.

Fucking crazy chick.

She's right though. I'd forgotten to turn my gun over to security. Shit.

I turned away from the window and back to my laptop. Taking a building and retrofitting it into an urban forest is one thing but integrating it into the plans before it's even built makes more sense.

Problem is, there's already too many companies doing that. And architectural firms.

Some of the best university programs for this stuff are in Germany. They've got a couple of the greenest cities on the planet. Maybe I should recruit a couple of new graduates. The kind that would be thrilled to start from scratch and make a name for themselves with a shit-ton of hard work.

"Kasanoda-san?"

There's that kid. What was his name again?

"Sota-kun has something for you." It's like Yuki read my mind.

"Really?" I tried to smile and not be too scary. "What is it?"

"I drew you a picture." He held out some paper in a shaking hand. Am I really that horrifying? Still?

"Cool." I took it and set it on the table. What the fuck is this? A bunch of scribbles? Is this supposed to be something?

"See, it's you," he pointed at a red-topped blob, "and you're riding a bike."

Bike?

"I think you mean motorcycle, Sota-kun," Yuki said.

"That's real…" Nice? Sweet? Cute? Nah… "Awesome, kiddo." Must have been the right choice if that grin is anything to go by.

"Thank you! I'm glad you like it."

"I do like it." Now what am I going to do with it?

"I'm sure Kasanoda would be happy to take the picture home and put it in his rooms." Yuki winked at me. "Then he could remember you anytime he saw it."

"Would you?" Damn huge eyes. Almost as bad as Haruhi's.

"Of course. Thanks."

"Welcome!" And he was off to the other side of the room.

.

"Honey-san? Cho-san" I know Honey-san likes bunnies, so I hopped over to them. "What are you doing?"

He's just a little taller than me. Is he really an adult?

"Sota-chan!" He held his arms out to me. "Come up here and I'll show you."

I climbed up and he told me a lot of stuff about cake and cake stores.

"You really like cake, Honey-san."

"It's the best food in the world."

"What about ice cream?"

"That's good too."

"And ramen?"

"I like cake better."

"Yeah, but Mom says I have to eat my ramen before I can have dessert."

"That's exactly right, Sota-kun," Cho-san said. "That's what I tell Honey-kun all the time."

"Do you eat your ramen first?"

"Yes. I want to grow up big and strong."

"Me too!"

I climbed down and headed for Yuki-chan, but, "I forgot. I have a picture for you." I handed it to them. "Yuki-chan told me you are boyfriend and girlfriend, so I drew you together with lots of bunnies."

Honey-san was so excited to get a picture. "This is beautiful, Sota-chan. You're a great artist."

"Really?"

"Yes. I think I'll frame this and put it in one of my bakeries."

"In the cake store?" I looked at Cho-san and back. "For real?"

"For real."

"Did you hear that, Yuki-chan? He's going to hang my picture on a wall in a cake store."

"Well, it's a special picture isn't it, Sota-kun."

"Yes!" I ran over and hugged Yuki-chan's legs. My picture on a wall!

.

"That was sweet of you, Honey-kun."

"It gave me a great idea. How about a drawing contest? Kids could draw pictures of Usa-chan or the cakes or whatever and the best would be hung up in the bakeries."

"What about the rest? Every kid thinks they're a great artist."

"How about we do a website gallery? All pictures could be posted there, and people could vote for the best?"

"I think Bun Bun should select the best but putting them all on a website gallery is a terrific idea."

"I'll send my CEO an email."

I leaned back and ate another cupcake. Not as good as the ones I make Honey-kun, but I think I'm biased.

.

We went through to the second half of the upstairs lounge and found Kaoru at the desk. There were colored pencils and sketches all over it, but he was leaning against the window with his eyes closed.

"I think he's asleep, Sota-kun. We should come back later."

"But I want to give him my picture, and you made me get up."

"I'm not asleep. Just resting my eyes."

He startled me, but Sota-kun ran right over. "I have a picture for you, Kaoru-san."

"You can drop the 'san', kid. I'm not old enough for that."

"OK." Sota-kun saw all the sketches. "You draw too? Wow."

"Yep, I draw designs then they are made into clothes. See?" Before I knew it, Kaoru was showing Sota-kun different sketches and then the CGI rendering with the chosen fabrics, then the real things on models. I hadn't thought much about the process. It's fascinating.

"You mean you draw clothes and then people wear them?"

"That's right." He also ruffled Sota-kun's hair. Everyone seems to do that. "Have you ever seen Haruhi wear a suit?"

"Haruhi-chan? Yeah."

"I design all her suits just like this."

"Wow."

"How about your picture? Tell me about it."

"It's not very good." Sota-kun held it close to his chest, trying to hide it. Kaoru's sketches are amazing. I can see why he's shy about it.

"I'm sure it's great. I'd like to see it."

He stared at Kaoru's face for a while, then made up his mind and handed him the drawing. "It's you on the beach."

"I see. Is that a sandcastle?"

"Yes."

"Then this must be me splashing in the water. Is that a shark? Am I being eaten?"

"No, you scared the shark away."

"Well, that's good. They aren't much fun."

"No. They're mean."

"Then," Kaoru put him back on his feet, "no sharks for us. I'll make them all go away."

.

"Who do you still have pictures for?"

He shuffled through his diminished stack. "Tamaki-chan, Renge-san, Haruhi-chan, Shinobu-san, Satoshi-san, and Mori-san."

"Well, we haven't been to the downstairs lounge. Let's try that."

.

This artist is absolutely amazing. Why haven't they been booked into every gallery in Tokyo?

And this one. Their paintings practically glow.

Sukuno-san, my assistant, definitely has an eye for talent.

"Tamaki-chan?"

I looked up from my email and saw Sota-kun in the doorway. I spent time with him when Kyoya and I were still close, but not for months.

"Sota-kun! How are you doing?" I moved the laptop to the seat next to me and waved him over. "Sit down and tell me a story."

"I drew you a picture. Can I tell you about it?"

"I'd love that, my little prince." He giggled at his nickname. Kyoya always thought it was silly.

He'd drawn me a castle with Renge-chan in a tower and a dragon down below. "Who's this?" I asked, pointing to the figure riding the dragon.

"That's me, silly. I'm the only one the dragons are nice to."

"Ah, makes sense. Where am I?"

He pointed to a gray blob that I thought was a robot. "You're the knight, but you don't fight the dragon."

"Why not?"

"Because you become friends. Then you invite me and the dragon to your wedding."

"Excellent. He can cook the food."

That caused another eruption of giggles.

Maybe Renge-chan and I should have kids as soon as we're married.

.

That's the last email.

My back popped when I stretched. I'll need at least a light workout tonight after all this time sitting.

All three of my managers at 'Ranka's' have reported no major problems and exceptional reviews. I set my Twitter account to alert for the hashtag and some of the pictures are perfect advertisements. Last night was so full, the line went around the block.

Now I can focus exclusively on training.

I wonder what Haruhi's doing.

.

"I don't know anything about planning a wedding, Renge. What kind of advice can I possibly give you?"

Haruhi, my maid of honor. I shook my head. "I wanted you because you're a great friend, not because you're an event planner. Let the wedding consultants handle all that mess."

"Isn't the maid of honor supposed to help you plan?"

"Haruhi," I dropped my pen and tossed my hair out of my face, "I'm not even planning this wedding. They're doing it all. I tell them what I want, and they set it up."

"Then what am I supposed to do?"

"The bachelorette party." I hid my smirk as her face went pale. "But you don't even have to plan that. Hire a planner and tell them what you want. They'll take care of everything."

"Hire a planner?"

"Sure. It's easy. Maybe we could rent out Mori-senpai's disco."

"But this doesn't happen until April next year, right?"

"Yep, but it's never too early to start planning. I've known what I want my wedding dress to look like since I was twelve."

I'm sure I wasn't supposed to hear her mumble, "When I was twelve, I was worried about enough rice for dinner."

Maybe asking her to hire a planner and throw my party is a bit over the top.

"If you're really that unsure, why don't you and the rest of the girls plan it? Just don't hold it at one of Shinobu's strip clubs."

There. Now she's laughing.

"I'll talk to them."

There was a knock at the door. "Come in."

"Haruhi-chan! Renge-san!"

"Sota-kun!" Haruhi stood up, and he ran into her arms.

"I missed you. You never come over anymore."

"I was there a couple months ago."

"That's forever…"

Those pouty lips are so sweet.

"You're right, but we can spend time together on this trip. We can swim and play in the sand."

"And waterski?"

She looked over his head at Yuki who shrugged.

"I'm not sure about that. We'll ask your mother."

"Boring." He put a piece of paper on the table. "I drew you a picture, Haruhi-chan, and we're waterskiing."

"That's so sweet." She squeezed him tight and planted a big kiss on his cheek. "Have you ever waterskied before?"

"No, but you're going to teach me, right?"

"I've never either, but I bet we can get Hikaru to teach us both."

"Good. I'll tell him." Tell him?

Then he turned to me. "Renge-san, I drew you and Tamaki-chan a picture, but I gave it to him already. Sorry."

"I'm sure it's beautiful. I'll find him and take a look."

"I drew you as a princess, and he's a prince, but I'm the one riding the dragon."

"As you should be," I smiled and kissed his nose.

Maybe Tamaki-kun and I should have kids right after the wedding.

.

Mori-senpai was reading a book when we delivered his picture. Sota-kun drew him in his kendo uniform with a big set of the Olympic rings, and Mori-senpai promised to hang it in his locker like Chika did.

"Who's left?"

"Hikaru-san, Satoshi-san, and Shinobu-san."

"Let's wait until a meal. I have no idea where they are."

"But they have to be on the plane somewhere."

"True."

Since Shinobu wasn't there with Kasanoda, we won't find them half-naked somewhere, so I guess we could look.

Satoshi and Hikaru? They could be anywhere causing trouble.

"I still think we should wait. Let's go sit in the lounge and draw more pictures."

.

"It wouldn't bother me if we shut all of them down."

"…"

"Yeah. You're right."

"…"

"OK. So, the three in the crappy areas we'll close and sell off. The other five we'll turn into gentlemen's clubs. They'll need a full remodel and new names. Exclusive membership. Let's see if any of the women from the three we're closing want a job at the five we're keeping."

"…"

"Just because it's a gentlemen's club doesn't mean the women there need to be upper-class. I'm sure with some training and a makeover, any of them will fit in."

"…"

"Alright. Let's meet with all the women from all the clubs when I get back. We'll go over the plan and see who wants to stay. I'm not throwing anyone out on their ass for no reason."

"…"

"I am a cut-throat bitch. Just don't tell anyone about this."

"…"

"Fine. See you next week."

Fucking strip clubs. Can't wait to get them going and turn them over to the syndicate business managers. Why does Dad want me to see them through the remodel anyway?

If it's some kind of test, there's no way I'm going to fail. Doesn't mean I like it.

.

"Did you pack everything?"

"Yeah. We've got enough for the week."

"And the guns?"

"Oh, yeah. The biggest ones I could find. I sent them with the advance security team."

"They let you?"

"Who are they to tell me no?"

"Did you tell them what was in the boxes?"

"Are you kidding? I just told them it was a bunch of water toys."

"I guess that's technically correct."

"I also sent about a thousand balloons."

"I can't wait to get the Boss with them."

"Maybe we can find Mitsukuni and Cho-senpai making out and get them."

"Those two? Making out? Really?"

"Yeah, just smear Cho-senpai's face with frosting."

"Or smash a cake on her face."

"Perfect."

"What about Kasanoda?"

"Are you kidding? He carries a real gun. So does Shinobu-senpai."

"Not in their swimsuits. Where are they going to put them?"

"Maybe we should fill the balloons up with something other than water."

"Like…"

"Paint?"

"No. Too messy and permanent."

"How about food. Like pudding or something?"

"I like it."

"Ooo. Cake frosting."

"Fucking A, Satoshi. You're almost as evil as me."

Getting Closer to Tahiti:

"Where are Sato and Yuki?" I asked the head of the Ootori guard team.

"Yuki-sama and Fujioka-sama are playing hide-and-seek with Sota-sama." He stood up and bowed. "Would you like for me to find them for you Fuyumi-sama?"

"No. I'll eat something in the dining room. They'll come through there sooner or later." I looked around the lounge and realized all the guards were there. "Is something wrong?"

"Not at all. We're having our final briefing before landing. There are no concerns."

"Alright."

I walked through the lounge to the dining room, stopping at the galley to order some sushi and ice cream. This kid wants weirder food than Sota did.

.

"Ready or not, here I come…"

Yuki and I smiled at each other and stayed sitting in the staff area. We knew Sota-kun heard us, but we had a few more minutes before we had to start searching. He'd worn us out while we'd been trying to keep him awake.

So far, he'd hidden up in one of the beds, under the desk where Kaoru is still sketching, behind a cart in the galley, in a staff restroom, and in the stateroom shower. Renge found him there when she went to take a quick shower. We all decided we'd be able to stay awake longer if we felt clean, so now there was a line.

Yuki told me to wait, and we'd take ours on the yachts that were transporting us from the airport to the island.

I'm too excited to be relaxing and not thinking about anything important to crack jokes at this crazy lifestyle. Guess I'm learning to just go with it.

We started up in the aeroloft with the beds, but no one was up there except for a flight attendant stripping the beds. He wasn't in the dining room or the galley. Fuyumi-san smiled at us as we went through. I had a hard time even looking at her plate of fancy tuna on top of chocolate ice cream. Guess it's not a cliche about pregnant women and cravings.

After checking upstairs and going back through the dining room, we stopped in the corridor to talk to Takashi. He stayed on that long sofa for most of the flight.

"Looking for Sota-kun?"

"Yes, he's found a very hard spot this time," Yuki said, raising her voice so Sota-kun could hear her.

Takashi pointed at the office, and we headed that way. Tamaki-senpai and Renge were in there talking about his gallery.

"I think we'll schedule that orchestra for the end of August, so the stage is available for the play at the end of July."

Then he put his finger to his lips and pointed at a lump under a blanket on the sofa.

"What about the metal artist?" Renge asked, winking at me.

"Probably the weekend after the orchestra."

They kept talking as I snuck up on the lump. "I wonder where Sota-kun is?"

"I don't know," Yuki played along. "He can't have left the plane."

"Maybe he parachuted out?"

"I think security would have stopped him."

"Well, I'm tired of looking. I'm just going to sit for a bit." And I sat gently on the lump.

"HEY!"

"Oh!" I jumped. "There's something alive in the couch!"

"It's me! I won!"

The intercom interrupted the laughter filling the office.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We're beginning our final approach. Please find a seat and put on your seatbelt. We'll be landing in thirty minutes."

"Come on, Sota-kun," Yuki held out her hand for him to take. "Let's get you to the dining room. You can eat a snack with your mother.

I also do not own, nor am I making any money from, the following: Olympics, Lego, Duplo, Scrabble, any real restaurant, business, artist, food product, movie, or really anything else that exists. I do, however, own any original characters and the plot of this story.

Author's Note:

Word about security: I haven't read that many stories that talk about the security that must surround these guys. Dad and I were talking about it and decided that this trip would be like the Kardashians, Rockefellers, Kennedys, Gates, bigtime Mafia, Pitt/Jolie kids, and some B level movie stars all getting together and flying to a private island. There's no way there wouldn't be an enormous amount of security. We also decided now was the perfect time to explore some of their activities and issues in dealing with these kids and see what security does to have fun and unwind. Except for the Olympics (which will be its own security nightmare), this vacation will be the most I discuss security like this. Hope I don't run it into the ground.

So, Akito's bringing a diamond ring with him. How should he propose? Over dinner? On the beach? Should he lose the ring in the ocean? How about in front of everyone? I've got it planned, but if your ideas are better…

I didn't make you wait too long before I gave you the answers about Chika's emergency landing. I'd thought about having him get hurt and have to stay out of the water the whole time, but where's the fun in that? It was never my plan to cause such a problem that he couldn't go on the trip. Just a little excitement. I don't think any of these guys will ever have a quiet life. I also wanted it to be exceptionally clear that it was not sabotage. Unless there's someone up there throwing birds at planes, which there isn't. I figured the nightmare was a good compromise. And it brings him closer to Haruhi.

I thought the scene with Chika and his parents at the airport was sweet. Even stoic parents can show their love for their kids.

As usual, the plane is a real modified 747 that I found online. Pictures of the plane and the layout can be found here: thuglifevideos billionaire-pimps-boeing-747/ (take out the spaces).

I'm not going to go through all the scenes on the plane in these notes, except to tell you I had so much fun writing them. I made dad laugh so hard he cried with that line from Kaoru about the mile high club. Dad said Kaoru could count it if he was willing to explain it to whoever was asking. I thought it would be fun to write Sota delivering the pictures to everyone as a tour to see what they were all up to. I hope he rang true.

Poor Tamaki. If thinking about his grandmother naked doesn't help, what would? Do you think Renge knew what was 'up'?

.

Next Chapter:

I mentioned last week that it would take more than one chapter to write up the vacation. That's definitely true.

A tour of the island, water sports, and fun in the sun. And tons of fluff!

.
