"Mittens." Emira said, "Please, look at me."
Amity looked at Emira and Emira wiped the tears away.
"Everything will be okay."
"B-b-but, I just killed-"
"You killed in order to save us." Erica said.
Erica hugged Amity and Emira went to call Lilith. She would want to know about this.
"Hello?" Lilith asked.
"Miss Clawthorne, this is Emira. Something bad is happening, the Manor was just attacked."
"I'll be right there!" Lilith said.
After a few minutes, Lilith arrived, with Boscha close behind her.
"What's going on?!" Lilith said.
"These terrorists tried to break in and hurt us." Emira said, "One of them was about to... to..."
Lilith put a hand on Emira's shoulder.
"You don't need to finish that thought, I get it. Are you okay?"
"I... I'm fine. Erica was shot in the leg. Amity... she's... she's not good."
"What happened?"
"She... she had to kill someone."
"Boscha, stay here." Lilith said.
Lilith found Amity pretty fast. She was crying into Erica's chest.
"Hello, Erica, was it?" Lilith asked, "Can you walk?"
"A little." Erica said.
"Okay, do you think you can get to the closest chair? I need to speak to Amity."
Erica knew what she was talking about. Erica let go of Amity and carefully walked out of the room, getting her arm grabbed by Lilith.
"Just so you know, I think you make an amazing girl and are an amazing sister. I'm proud that you finally became who you are meant to be." Lilith whispered to her.
Erica smiled and whispered a 'thank you' to Lilith. After being forced to hid who she is for her entire life, it was nice to know that she had people who were supportive of her. Even if she's only known them less than two months. Lilith walked over to Amity.
"Amity? Are you okay?"
"N-n-no, I'm a monster!"
Lilith felt Amity hug her and start crying again. Lilith rubbed Amity's head.
"Amity, you aren't a monster. You-"
"Yes, I am! I murdered someone with my bare hand! I-"
"Enough!" Lilith yelled, "You are not a monster! You are a person that wanted to keep her sisters safe! Never call yourself a monster! If anything... I'm a monster."
Amity wiped some of her tears and sniffled a little.
"What do you mean?"
"When I was only a few years older than you, Edalyn and I were put into a duel against each other. She was always better than me at magic, so I... acquired something that would make her magic go away. I thought it would only be for a day, instead, it gave her a curse that accelerated her aging, continuously weakened her magic, and turns her into an owlbeast. The worst part... it passed on to Luz when she was born."
"Thats why her-"
"Hair is gray in her baby and childhood pictures? I hurt my sister and my niece. I was there when she first became an owlbeast... she was only two months old... hearing her cry as her bones break and reform... I ruined her childhood. When they found out, well, you've probably seen how Eda and Camila treat me. Honestly, I wonder how Luz can still treat me like family."
"Because... because she is the nicest person on the Boiling Isles." Amity said, "She's willing to do anything to keep her family safe."
"Sounds familiar." Amity looked at Lilith confused, "She's willing to do anything to keep her family safe. Just like you."
Amity looked at her arm, still covered in, now dried, blood. Lilith lightly grabbed Amity's shoulder.
"I know the first kill is always the hardest, and it's easy to feel the guilt of it, but try and remember... killing in order to save someone, does not make you a monster, that makes you a hero. You're willing to get hurt or worse in order to save someone." Lilith said, "You know who told me that?"
"Who?"
"Luz, did. She told me that after my first kill. I went through the same thing you did." Lilith said, "Remember, just because this was your first kill, it doesn't mean you have to kill again."
"You promise?"
"I promise." Lilith said, "And a Clawthorne-
"Never breaks a promise." Amity said, "Thank you, Miss Lilith."
"Sometimes, a few words can be more effective than some realize."
Amity stood up and looked at her blood covered arm. She clenched her fist and looked out the window.
"We need to go after the person responsible." Amity said.
"And we shall. We need to plan this out." Lilith said.
