35. My Lady, Kagome

A fragrant scent filled the air, and a contented sigh slipped past her lips. Wherever she was, she was enveloped in a warm blanket of water, and all the tension she had previously melted away. It was as if she had entered eternal bliss, her worries replaced by a numbing peaceful sensation, and she relaxed further in the encompassing darkness.

If only this would go on forever.

But a soothing melody flooded her ears, and as she leaned further to unveil just who or what it was, the darkness soon faded and was replaced by an unfamiliar environment. Kagome's eyes fluttered open in that instant, and she found herself in an enormous room, the walls as black as twilight with silver curtains decorating the glass windows.

A breath escaped her when she realized she wasn't clothed and as she lifted her arms to conceal her breasts, she realized she was submerged half-way in a giant basin of milky water. Pink and white rose petals floated above the surface, and Kagome scooped up a handful.

"Roses?" She muttered.

A feminine hum followed. "Don't they smell wonderful, my lady? I picked them this morning. Fresh from the courtyard."

Kagome blinked. My lady? Picked fresh from the courtyard? Who and what? The young woman whipped her head to glance over her shoulder and saw a young woman dressed in a red and turquoise hanfu. The ruqun skirt high and wrapped around her petite chest, her yichang tucked beneath.

The garment reminded her of the Chinese traditional clothing that the ancients wore, accompanied by the unusual hairstyles. In this person's case, her hair was braided on the sides and bound into flower-inlaid buns. Buns which partially concealed her horns.

Horns?

"What's going on?" She asked, somewhat disoriented.

But the young woman merely smiled and approached the side of the basin, reaching for a towelette. From there, she pushed Kagome's hair over her shoulder and washed her back gently and thoroughly. "Please be at ease. I'm here to take care of you, my lady. As I was instructed."

"Instructed? Then… am I still in the feudal era?" What was going on? What happened after she blacked out?

"Pardon? Feudal… era? Whatever do you mean, my lady?"
