Mother's Day
After a tiresome workday spent at the Hokage office, Naruko was dead tired and slept snoring throughout the rest of the night. Not that her husband, Sasuke, minded, who kindly helped her out of her clothes and bathed her before helping her back to bed. A content smile crept upon his handsome face when the blonde sleepily crawled over to his side and used his chest as her personal pillow.
So imagine Naruko's shock when instead of Sasuke's calm voice, she was awakened by her door slamming open. Followed by the sounds of footsteps and something rolling into her room. She heard Hinako berate her younger brother.
"Easy, Dai-chan! It took me all morning to make this!"
"Sorry, Hina-chan! I'll try to be more careful!"
"So, who's going to wake oka-san?" asked the monotone voice of her eldest son Ryuustuki, who Naruko knew for a fact was not a morning person. Unless it was something urgent like a mission, Ryuustuki could sleep until noon. A person who preferred the night much like his father.
"Someone better hurry before oka-sama's breakfast turns cold," ordered Satsukie, who held authority over all her children as even Ryuustuki had a hard time standing up to his little sister.
"Hn," said that handsome stoic husband of Naruko's as the lady Hokage could no longer play sleep and decided to open her eyes.
"So mind telling me what my lovely kits and handsome husband are doing in my room so early in the morning while kaa-san is peacefully trying to get a couple more hours of sleep before having to go to work?" Rising from the bed to stare lazily at her kids, Naruko asked her children. The children, in return, only answered her with blank looks or sheepishly smiled when Hinako rolled over a tray to sit in her mother's lap.
"Kaa-san, don't you know what special day it is?" Hinako teasingly asked her mother, who tipped her head to the side, thinking over the question.
"Hmm, my birthday is still a few months away..." Naruko mumbled as her response only caused Hinako to puff out her cheeks in disappointment.
"Kaa-chan! It's Mother's Day~!" Hinako happily announced with a giant smile spread across her face as Daisuke climbed onto the other side next to her. Lifting the lids off the dishes Hinako made, Naruko's stomach growled with hunger.
"Hinako made breakfast, and I helped. Ryu-onii and Satsuki-nee helped buy the groceries, and tou-san only stood on the side watching. He was no help at all!" complained Daisuke, who in the eyes of many looked like a mini Sasuke but with Naruko's outgoing personality.
"He did now!" Naruko responded to her son while shooting a sly look over at her husband, who stood there silently glaring at their youngest. She knew he probably didn't have time to plan much, seeing as the man only returned the day before yesterday. Giggling to herself, Naruko sent her husband a wink which caused the stoic Uchiha to blush and shyly turn his head away.
Naruko watched as her children scooted closer to her, opening their mouths to say, "Happy Mother's Day, okaa-san~!" Happy tears almost escaped from the blonde's eyes.
But Naruko kept her tears at bay and gathered her children into a tight hug. The girl born an orphan, hated and scorned by the same village that now worshipped her as their darling hero. A girl who once held no blood ties to this world found herself surrounded by the warmth of her family. Joy poured into Naruko's soul.
"Thank you! Okaa-san is lucky to have given birth to such wonderful and beautiful kits! Aww, my babies are so precious~!" Not able to hold herself back, Naruko began giving kisses to each of her children. She didn't care about how much older they had gotten because they would always be her babies in her eyes.
Standing in the doorway with his arms folded over his chest, Sasuke watched this heartfelt, affectionate scene with a small smile playing on his lips.
'Happy Mother's Day, Naruko.'

Toward the evening, the Uchiha family decided to take Naruko out to a fancy restaurant, and when they walked inside, they were surprised to see the Nara family. "Oh, well, if it isn't the Nara family! So Temari, how's your day been going?" Naruko walked over and nudged the blonde's arm, only to notice the glistening jadeite beaded bracelet she wore proudly around her wrist.
"Wow! A real jadeite bracelet? Isn't this super expensive? I'm surprised Shikmaru got you it!" Holding the blonde's wrist, Naruko began admiring the beautiful piece of jewelry, unaware of the defeated look of gloom that filled Shikamaru's eyes.
"Oh, Shikamaru didn't buy me this. It was a gift from Shikadai!" Temari calmly answered as this piece of news stunned Naruko who wordlessly dropped Temari's arm. A second later, a waiter walked up to Shikadai, the youngest of the Nara family, and bowed politely before him.
"Nara-sama, the private room which you have reserved is ready. If you would please follow me and someone will be with you shortly, Nanadaime-sama." With the swagger of a rich young master, Shikadai allowed himself to be led as Temari followed after, dragging her husband's defeated form.
The Uchiha family could do nothing but allow their eyes to trail after the family, disbelief in their eyes, as Sasuke spoke first. "That boy is going to take over the entire financial world." This statement caused a round of agreement from all members of the Uchiha family.
