Jirou leapt back from the black wall creating man as he swung one arm that had a wall attached to it. As she landed, she shot another full-power sonic wave at the man, who made the wall curl around him to protect himself. Her mind was racing and her eyes watched the windows and light bulbs in the hallway break as her attack covered the whole hallway past the pale psycho.
'His walls seem to completely nullify my sonic waves before they hit him, plus it's not like my set up for a sonic wave is subtle. He's got plenty of time to set up his defenses before I get even close to blasting him. Continuous sonic waves are an option, but I doubt keeping it up for an extended period would get us anywhere. Plus, there's Koda.' She turned to look at Koda, who was standing behind her, and she heard the man's wall break through the surrounding walls as her attack petered out. He wasn't much help here; not only because there weren't any animals here for him to command, but also because she was pretty sure he wouldn't order any animals to attack someone this formidable.
"Is that really all you've got? Kind of weak, don't you think? I mean, it could be strong, but I just can't hear it I guess! Nice damage to the ship though, do you have any idea how much money it's gonna cost to fix our disguise?" He laughed as he held up his arms and black walls flew towards Jirou and Koda. Jirou ducked underneath his right wall and rolled towards him. If a sonic boom wouldn't work, then a direct jack-in would probably put him on the ground. The question was…
"Oooo, a frontal assault? That takes guts, kid! Not gonna work though!" He shouted as he deactivated his quirk quickly and leapt backwards, her ear jacks' range just barely not reaching him as he activated his quirk and swung his arm at the same time. The wall slammed into Jirou, knocking her into the wall. Her head struck first, stunning her and reducing the pain from the rest of her body slamming into the wall. Feeling her stomach turn as her world began to spin, she groaned from the combined pain and nausea. Forcing one of her jacks into one of her boots, she shot another sonic wave at him that missed entirely and completely shattered a wooden door along with all the glass beyond it. Letting out a groan, she tried to force herself up as her ears rang.
'Gotta protect Koda. Gotta take this guy down. Gotta catch up to Midoriya and Uraraka.' Her vision cleared just in time to see Koda hit the guy with a thrown chair before sprinting at him. Fear was apparent on his, well his entire body really, but he didn't falter, not even as Jirou held a hand up at him to signal him to stop. The man swiped a black wall at Koda as he leapt over Jirou, hugging the outer wall of the ship.
"A chair? A FUCKING CHAIR? You're insane! Is your quirk really that weak you freaking weirdo?!" The pale man swung his arm at Koda, hitting the gentle giant as the man's black wall ripped apart the outer wall of the hallway revealing the natural light from the outside.
"Aw man, Scott's gonna kill me. Soundproofing all these rooms again is going to cost a fortune, not to mention fixing this hole! Hey weird looking boy, you gonna pay for breaking this? Huh?" Jirou's head finally stopped spinning and she pushed herself up off the ground. Glaring at the man, she got ready to rush him while he was distracted when Koda started shouting.
"Friends! Help us! Distract the pale black-haired man!" Jirou stepped backwards as she heard the telltale noise of a flock of birds that suddenly flew into the hallway. The birds had a gray-brown complexion to their feathers and a large proud beak which helped her identify them as sea eagles, though she'd never seen them look so ferocious before. They had plenty of room to encircle the man, tearing and picking at him with their talons and beaks, since he'd seen fit to completely destroy entire rooms with his arms. He let out a scream as he swung wildly from side to side, hitting a few of the birds, but most were agile enough to avoid his highly telegraphed swings. Eventually, he held his arms around his head as the black walls he was generating disappeared.
"Friends! Stop! Run away!" Koda nodded at Jirou as the man gasped and looked around wildly once the birds stopped squalling. She rushed him, grabbing his arms and holding them apart briefly. He looked pretty built, so she knew once he recovered from the brutal bird attack—which had left his skin torn, and it looked like his ear was a goner—he'd be back to wrecking walls, and would probably kill both her and Koda. But Koda had given her the brief window she needed to take this guy out.
"Wait, what, but the birds—" His wild look turned back into a glare and she saw the black wall start to emanate from the top of his forearms. It was far too late, though. She launched a jack into his neck and leapt up on top of him. Wrapping an arm across his throat and her other arm securing the chokehold, she held on as he struggled. Her legs wrapped around his upper torso as she saw him reach for a knife on the back of his pants. She felt her heart sink as he pulled it out of its sheath even with her heart vibrations rattling his very bones.
"Go down!" She felt her heart soar as Koda ran up and grabbed him, holding his arm and pulling backwards. Koda kicked out one of the man's knees while grabbing his other arm and putting his foot on the pale man's back, pulling both of his arms back while Jirou choked him out. Eventually, she felt the man go limp, falling as far forward as he could while Koda held onto his arms. Pulling her legs off the black-haired man, she stood up and poked Koda while unlatching her jack from the man's neck.
"Hey, he's down big guy, and uh, after the birds, me rattling his bones, you almost pulling his arms out of their sockets, and me choking him out, I doubt he's getting up anytime soon. You good?" Koda let go of the guy and he hit the ground unceremoniously before Koda stood up and nodded, staring at the man slumped down with his face on the ground. The gentle giant knelt down and pulled restraining rope out of his utility belt and started to tie the man up.
"Hey… Thanks for the assist Koda. I'm sure putting animals in danger doesn't feel great, but I really appreciate the save. I don't think I could have taken him on my own." Koda tensed up as she talked, but held up a shaky thumbs-up to her. Jirou smiled and leaned against the wall, keeping a lookout as Koda restrained him and tied him to one of the banisters on the wall.
"Okay let's move. I'm worried about Deku and Astra." Koda nodded and stood up, staring at her for a moment before looking through the destroyed hallway towards the side door Midoriya and Uraraka had run through.
Uraraka looked around for whoever had tackled her off the walkway, her eyes scanning the rather large interior of the ship. She hadn't fallen that far, worst comes to worst she could just use her grappling hooks to get back up onto the walkway and follow Izuku after the detective. Her eyes locked onto the box that had fallen with her teetering on top of the large surface she'd landed on after detaching her grappling hook from the walkway. Walking over to it and kneeling down, she examined the box. It was pure black and small enough to fit in one of her belt's pockets if she took her villain restraining rope out of one of them.
Her eyes glanced over to the torn overcoat the detective had been wearing. A glint of silver caught her eyes, and she crawled over to it, hanging onto the box. Sliding her hands into the coat, she felt cold metal inside of it and clasped her fingers around it. As she pulled the object out of the detective's coat, she realized she was holding a revolver.
"The detective's gun… Don't police revolvers normally have five chambers?" She shook her head as she started to put it away when the cylinder fell open. Jumping as she felt the weight in her hand shift, she looked down at the cylinder and let out a sigh of relief. Reaching down to push it back into place, the color of the bullets caught her eyes. They were a dark shade of crimson, and while Ochako knew next to nothing about bullets, she was pretty sure they were supposed to be some kind of dull gold color.
Pulling one of the bullets out of the cylinder, she found a pointed tip on the end. Delicately putting it back into the revolver, she slid it into one of her belt pouches, making sure the hammer was down all the way. Picking up the box, her fingers glided over the lid as she remained on high alert, her eyes scanning the darkness beneath her for any movement. Eventually her fingers found two tiny buttons that clicked into the box. She heard a lock unlatch from the inside and watched the lid spring open. Her eyes scanned the box, and she found six more red bullets with tiny syringe tips, along with six empty pockets that each looked like they would hold one of the bullets in the revolver she had found. She looked at the top of the box and saw a printed label with what looked like a description of the bullets.
'Quirk erasure bullets. Boss, you don't need reminding I'm sure, but please don't prick your fingers on one of these. Your quirk will be out of commission for at least a day, maybe two. All we've got are prototypes like these till you get that brat back.' Ochako narrowed her eyes at the entire written passage, from the word "Boss" to the word "Brat" Ochako was starting to think her distrust of the detective was well-founded. Shaking her head, she heard something land behind her. Holding tightly onto the box she spun around and looked at the cloaked figure who'd tackled her ditching said cloak. The woman had hair that looked like a pattern of bright blond and randomly placed black squares throughout. Her smile was feline with her canines appearing sharper and larger than they should have been. She flexed her hands into claws, her nails extending as she looked Ochako over.
"Hmm, I was hoping to fight the cloaked one, he seemed more my speed." She sprinted impossibly fast at Ochako, who jumped to the side while sliding the box into another pouch on her belt. The lady ran right off the edge of the cage as Ochako grabbed onto a bar of a cage and made it weightless. Lifting the metallic empty cage, she tossed it at the cheetah lady while touching her fingers together.
"Super strength? Is that all you've got?" The cheetah jumped and cleared the steel cages easily, a glint in her eyes as Uraraka swung her hand and let loose a torrent of rapid pink shots from her fingertips. She wasn't really trying to incapacitate the woman, and was instead trying to figure out how her quirk worked, though based on her hairstyle, her teeth, and her claw-like fingernails, not to mention her insane speed, Ochako was pretty sure she had some kind of cheetah quirk.
"Oh, pretty lights, huh? I wonder what… OW!" Ochako shook her head as the woman stopped long enough for several thin pink lights to hit her, the sheer number of shots Ochako had unleashed knocking her to the ground. Shoving her other hand forward, Ochako shot a swirling vortex of pink energy towards the woman, who barely leapt out of the way. The swirling energy bent the bars of another cage that the woman had landed in front of.
"Where are all of the people you've kidnapped?!" Ochako glared at the woman who had clambered up the side of a cage. The lady just tilted her head and dropped down to sit on the edge of the cage while crossing her legs.
"Cargo? All we've got left are the really violent ones. No one wanted 'em, so we're just gonna offload them at… wait, I'm not supposed to tell you that! You're a lot more fun than I thought you were going to be, Pinky." Ochako shook her head and let her arcane energies flow throughout her fingertips on one hand while she ran her fingers over a few cages, letting them float upwards.
"Fine, that means all I have to do is beat you and catch up to Deku. We'll take out your boss, and if necessary, apprehend those 'really violent ones'." Letting the cages float around her, she threw a concentrated blast of energy at the woman, who easily dodged it. The woman kicked one of the floating cages at Ochako, who let out a shockwave of pink energy, blowing it back towards the woman.
"Oooo, I don't know, kid. I think we're having a lot of fun. Been a while since someone hasn't been daunted by how fast I am. You fight someone like me before?" The woman leapt over the spiraling cage that slammed into the walkway. Ochako followed, launching her grappling hook at the cage before yanking it back towards the woman. Letting her grappling hook detach itself from the cage and wind back into her gauntlets, she landed near another of the floating cages as the woman jumped away from the impact of her first thrown one.
"Nope, just in a hurry and I can't waste time on another crazy person like you." She threw one of the cages at the woman, but she dodged again, nearly instantly closing the distance between herself and Ochako before swinging her claws at Ochako's face. Ochako stood her ground, letting the lady's claws scratch her visor, thankfully not piercing through it. Reaching forward, she pushed all of her fingers against the woman and shoved her into the air. She grabbed another cage and kicked it at the woman, who could do nothing as the extremely heavy object slammed her into another cage and pinned her between them.
"For someone with a cheetah quirk, you were pretty slow. You sure you belong on the same footing as the psycho with the knives and that black wall guy?" Ochako shook her head and touched her fingertips together, letting the cage pin the woman between the other one easily. Even with all of her strength, the woman couldn't even budge the large heavy cage. She let out a scream and slashed in the air, her claws desperately swinging at Ochako.
"Let me out of here! He's still busy dealing with that Owl bitch and her little friends! Give him a little more time!" Ochako shook her head and used her quirk on herself as she used the air thrusters in her boots to launch herself back up towards the walkway. As she landed, she heard shouts and yelling. Swallowing hard, she reached into her belt and pulled out that 'quirk erasure' gun. She pulled the hammer back as she walked and kept her finger off the trigger. She'd have to make sure to use it at the right time, if she had to at all. She wasn't tired from that fight at all—well maybe she was just a little tired—but her grappling hooks had really helped her fight from range while reducing the amount of magic she had to use. Shaking her head and clearing her thoughts, she focused on the fighting up ahead, trying to enter some kind of concentrated state before she got to the fight.
Katsuki watched the "rapid response team" lounging around one of the four rescue-focused trucks. That half-and-half bastard's mother walked around, inspecting it for what felt like the hundredth time to Katsuki. He rapidly tapped his foot as he sat in a chair on an elevated position in the storm shelter, able to see a majority of the mostly empty warehouse-like space with hundreds of bunk beds. He growled as one of class 1-B's students, that annoying blond copycat, strolled up to him.
"Oh wow! Wonder why class 1-A's 'number one entrance exam' student is on guard duty? Isn't that weird? I wonder why you aren't rescuing people? Is it because you're more likely to cause people to be scared with your stupid explosion quirk?" Katsuki crinkled up the water bottle he was sipping on and stood up, adjusting his grenade gauntlets as he looked the blond up and down.
"Oh yeah? What are you on? The rapid response team? I saw you hanging around one of those trucks, so you must be. That makes sense; I mean, a permanent sidekick like you're going to be stuck as couldn't be on a rescue team. You just copy a better quirk from someone else and use it less competently, right? I mean, no one would feel safe with someone who might as well be quirkless unless they had a real Hero's quirk to copy." Katsuki smirked as the blond nobody's face lit up like a cherry. He held a hand up to Katsuki's face, which made the bombing blond clench his hands into claw shapes, before a whistle drew both of their attention back to one of the trucks.
"Monoma! Get back here before I come and knock you out and drag you back here! We are on standby! Stop antagonizing Bakugo!" Katsuki relaxed as Monoma grumbled and walked back towards the truck. Katsuki glared at him when he still shot a condescending smile his way.
"Wow, you really put that dude in his place, huh?" Katsuki looked up and saw that invisible girl from their class standing in front of him while wearing their UA tracksuit. Blinking as she held out a bottle of water to him, he turned back towards watching the shelter, ignoring the extra's outstretched hand.
"Shouldn't you be guarding your portion of the shelter, Blank Space?" He flinched as she started laughing. He watched the water bottle float up and rub what he assumed was her face briefly before the clothing plopped down in a seat next to him. She threw the bottle of water into his lap before taking a sip of her own.
"Oh, that's so funny! I mean, I know we're all 'extras' to you, but it would be nice of you to learn at least someone's name, Bakugo. See? I didn't call you exploding porcupine, I called you by your name." Her phrasing was confrontational, but her tone was a laid-back one. He watched her legs stretch out as she relaxed. The fact that she could relax irritated him; they were relegated to guard duty while everyone else was either out doing real Hero work or on standby to provide support.
"The cops said they'd cover my section so I could come and give your grumpy butt some company, yay me." Katsuki didn't even spare Blank Space a glance as he kept surveying the shelter.
"I don't need the company of an extra who would slow me down if we get attacked. Go find one of the other nobodies to keep company." He did turn this time when she scoffed and stood up, stretching her arms above her head based on the movement of her clothes.
"I might be invisible, but at least I'm not delusional about my place here." He hopped up and barely restrained himself from popping off mini-explosions in his hand. Who was she to say what his place was. He was the best! So what if those baby civilians couldn't stay calm around explosions, that was on them! He shook his head and held a finger up towards where he assumed Blank Space's stupid face was but was interrupted when Half-and-Half's mom started shouting.
"Hey, rapid response team! If you're not over at 1-A's truck, then get over here right now! Emergency call from Shockwave's team, they need back up right now! You've got two minutes to get your gear ready before we move out!" She started the truck, and the large reinforced steel doors to the shelter slowly shuddered open. Katsuki watched Half-and-Half rouse the few sleeping members of the team, who instantly leapt up and ran into the back of the truck. Katsuki felt… envious of them getting to actually leave and do something while he and Blank Space… Wait a second, that bitch had basically just said he needed to learn his place.
"What were you saying, Blank Space?!" He spun around and realized she'd left him alone. He let out a scoff and shrugged. She was probably scared he'd yell at her, the big baby, just like that nerd Deku. He stared at Aizawa as he sprinted over to the passenger seat of the truck with a purple-haired kid running behind him before breaking off and running into the back of the truck with the rest of Katsuki's class.
He shook with rage at the thought of Aizawa showing favoritism to that nobody from… well, Katsuki didn't know where he was from, but the thought that Aizawa showing favoritism to him prevented Katsuki from going on the team had Katsuki steaming. He shook his head and picked up the water bottle that the invisible extra had left him. He'd just walk around to see if anyone was making trouble. He could use something to blow off some steam.
Eri stared at Owl and Max as the former used her feathers to completely disarm and knock out three guards one once, while Max took out one with his staff, not even bothering using whatever his quirk was on the guard. She flinched as Owl threw a wave of silver feathers at her, one of them catching her rags and pulling her out of the way of a man in red and brown full body armor. He'd swung a gun at her head, but the feather had saved her. Meanwhile, the torrent of feathers she'd launched grabbed the man and slammed him into the ceiling before dropping him onto the ground hard.
"You okay?" Eri blinked, looking up at the blond-haired woman, her piercing blue eyes looking into Eri's before nodding and using that feather lodged into her rags to lift her up and set her down gently on her feet. Once the feather flew back into Owl's wings, the woman stood up and nodded at Max, who reached into his bag and pulled out a silvery-blue orb, crushing it in his hands and chucking it at the rounded-up soldiers.
"Hey, why are you—" Max's hands glowed bright light blue with a light haze radiating off of them before the crushed orb grew into crisscrossing icy strands, pulling the four knocked-out guards tightly together. Eri's eyes grew wide as flowers sprouted along the icy ropes so that the binding on the guards looked pretty.
"What is… is that… you have a cool quirk, kid." Owl glanced around as Max scoffed.
"I told you I don't have a quirk, though I guess I do have quirky magic. Most of my kind specializes in water magic. Ice magic's a rarity, even for my family." Eri heard Owl groan before walking away flapping her wings impatiently.
"Let's move. There are just a few more doors before we get to the main stairwell, and we'll be good to go once we get to the warehouse. I'll fly all three of us out of here and… well, we'll figure out the rest from there." Eri nodded. Even if Overhaul was right and she was a curse… her eyes dropped as she thought about it. She'd just kill someone if she lost control of her power again. Wringing her hands together, she felt her vision slowly start to cloud over as she started breathing heavily.
"Hey, are you okay?" Eri blinked as Max knelt down in front of her, a smile on his lips as he patted her head. Eri felt her spirits lift a little as Owl looked back at her as well.
"Well if it isn't my uncaged bird. I have to say, I'm impressed you managed to escape your quirk-suppressing cage. Not to mention all the men I had between you and here." Owl's feathers lifted both Eri and Max up and pulled them close to the blond-haired woman as she floated into the air effortlessly. Eri looked around and saw Scott, his hood pulled up and concealing his silver hair as he threw two circular discs at Owl. Owl flung Eri and Max backward while flying down towards the discs, her wings closing in on her body before each disc exploded and slammed her into the ground.
"Doesn't matter how many feathers you hid in the air ducts, or how well prepared you thought you were, kid. I've been preparing to take you down since I kidnapped you and started training you to be their weapon." His foot slammed down onto Owl's face as she started to push herself up, several of her beautiful silver wings singed black and turned into ash as she went limp. Max stood up and pointed his staff at the man, but he threw two balls connected by a thin line that wrapped around Max and electrocuted him, making her tan friend cry out in pain. Reaching down, Scott yanked the blade out of its sheath that Owl had taken from his room.
"S-stop it!" Scott looked at her, frowning and pulling out another disk while twirling his blade. Rearing back to throw the disc, his eyes suddenly shot wide before he suddenly leapt away, a roar of flames shooting out from his feet as his cloak tore off his frame. He was wearing armor similar to the soldiers that Owl and Max had subdued, though this looked far more advanced. A thick metallic plate covered most of Scott's body save his head, with thicker metal around his forearms, shoulders, and his legs. The flame trail continued burning, lighting up Scott's face and accenting his scar as a man in a torn vest and a fedora stepped through the door, brushing off his shoulder as he did so.
"My, my, my. Today is just full of people for me to contend with. First, there were a few runaways who almost escaped that I had to unfortunately put down after they killed half my guards, then there were those heroes with you, and now a 'detective' stands before me." Ignoring Scott's words, the man threw off his hat and looked at Eri, who immediately recoiled. He looked at her dispassionately as he pulled his glove off his other hand before turning back to face Scott.
"You have my property. Kindly return it, and I'll gladly let you do whatever you want to the rest of your merchandise. I won't even have my bullets kill you if you relinquish her now." Instead of replying, Scott twirled his sword while pulling out a fancy-looking handgun with a long magazine. Slowly, his sword started slicing along the ground, sparks flying off the sword as his flame trail died down. A smirk spread across his lips as he pointed the blade at Overhaul.
"Afraid not. She's my property now that she's aboard my ship. I'm sure I'll find a use for her if she's that important to you. Shall we then?" Overhaul dropped to the ground as a faceplate slid over Scott's mouth, the suit bulking up instantly, almost doubling the size of Scott's muscles as he flourished his sword and leaned forward. Suddenly she blinked as a man covered in green lightning slammed into Overhaul, sending him flying into the wall opposite from Eri, while a massive gust of visible wind slammed into Scott, making him instantly slam into the door he'd been standing in front of. Eri felt her body leave the ground as she saw that green-hooded man grab both Max and Owl before setting the three of them down gently. She looked up and saw the man with green electricity coursing over the top of a costume, his green eyes seeming to glow in the dark of his hood while he glared. Electricity seemed to pass through even his eyes while he stomped forwards, a small gust coming off his foot.
"So… 'Detective Kai'. Care to explain what you meant by 'your property'?" Eri felt a chill go down her spine as he asked that question. Venom laced his voice as he held a hand up in front of her and a veil of flames gently floated around her, Max, and Owl.
