A few hours later, the morning sun blast through the cloudy skies of forks , new white rays streaming in through the window and curtain just the same showing the beauty of the body that lies on her stomach face buried in the pillow. Rosalie stares at her mate in wonder , her cold fingers trailing down Bella's spine leaving goosebumps in its wake.
She sees the rays of the sun, litter on her hands reflecting like diamonds .. wanting to remove her hand she remembers Bella's words... that she shines brighter than even the shiniest gem, an unconscious smile tugs on her lips at the memory.
After a few more moments in basking in her mates beauty she decides to wake her, it was past 8 and it was clear Bella wasn't be going to school, she wouldn't be either considering the sun was actually out shining through the clouded skies, she wished she could see this view every morning for the rest of her immortal life but the crushing realization splashes her like Ice cold water that before that can even happen a certain problem needs to be taken care of.
A sleepy tired voice breaks through her thoughts
"You're thinking to loud"
Not even noticing that she her mate eyes was partly open staring at her while she was lost in her thoughts.
"You're awake" she says , staring the obvious with roll of her eyes she softly pushes Bella's shoulder as she laughs at her statement.
"Yes ... I would think that was fairly obvious when I spoke" she says through laughter.
"I thought in the morning your brain was still shut down? So how is it that you're able to still make fun of me in your sleepy state" she asks with brow raised. Bella goes to answer but before she does her stomach does the talking for her, realizing just how long ago she ate.
"You're hungry?" She questions once again opening herself to ridicule.
"No, that's just my stomachs way of waking me up" she deadpanned. A smirk curling up on her lips before she found herself on the floor courtesy of Rose.
"Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit darling" she chides from her position on the bed. Bella groans on the floor in answer.
"Yeah... then why do you use it like a second ... ?" She quips from her position.
Rosalie stands up dropping the thin sheets revealing her naked body , slipping of the bed intentionally giving her mate an eyeful.She smiles at her mate going silent while ogling her.
"You were saying darling?" Bella flushed slightly before groaning.
"That's unfair" she whines feeling her cock hardening at the view.
Rosalie chuckles slipping into the bathroom, " all's fair in love and war" she quips before shutting the door. Bella scrambles up to join but she hears the lock of the bathroom click before she makes it.
"Arrgh Rose" she whines , her head dropping against the door she listens to the vampires tinkling laughter.she swears she hears her say 'serves you right'
Staring down at her now erect cock she sighs sadly. "It's just you and me buddy" she whispers before chastising her need to joke around.
After two separate showers the couple found them downstairs surrounded by the Cullen family, Esme's cooking drew Bella into the kitchen leaving Rosalie to deal with Emmets eat shitting grin and immature cat calls as they walked down the stairs.
The rest of the family had much more modest reactions Edward who didn't even comment other than give them a nod while sending a suspicious glance in Bella's direction which she shrugged off , heading to the kitchen where Esme had been cooking up a storm.
Bella greeted Esme with a beaming smile as she stared down at the spread before her, pancakes, bacon and hash browns.
"Wow Esme this looks great and just what I need I'm famished" she says with a large thankful smile on her face.
She hears Emmet chuckle and comment "must be you went at it for hours from the sounds of it" Bella fights a blush before smirking in the vampire's direction. But says nothing no need to stir the pot besides she knew Rosalie didn't like talking about the sex life or relationship in general.
"Oh hush Emmet!" Admonished Esme from her position, she saw the large vampire look sheepish before removing himself from the kitchen.
Bella dug in enthusiastically, polishing off the entire spread in under 15 minutes—she didn't lie she was famished besides she hadn't eaten since before the entire thing with James and holding her magic at bay was straining, it tired her —making her feel lethargic. Since she burned calories faster than most humans due to her high temperature as well she ate a lot ... not as much as she thought the wolves ate but a bit more than a normal 17 year old teenager.
Esme looked at her somewhat wide eyed , she smiled impishly at the woman before giving her two thumbs up.
"Wow Esme That was great, for a vampire that can't eat you sure know how to make one hell of a breakfast" she grinned. Patting her stomach contently.
Esme if she was human would blush at the praise , she smiled bashfully.
"Please I'm sure it wasn't that good" she said
Bella shook her head "no Esme trust me if you ever want to be a chef or start your restaurant you can ..." she said honestly
Esme chuckled removing the dishes "well aren't you the charmer" she quipped.
Bella gave her a small grin and winked in her direction "well you know if you weren't married and I wasn't madly in love with your daughter I would ask your hand in marriage" she said with serious nod. She chuckled at the older woman's expression before she giggled.
"Forward too" she managed to say just as Rosalie strolled into the kitchen with a brow raised in Bella's direction.
"Still flirting with my mother I see" she said dryly. Bella turned giving her charming smile, one that would make any girls weak and Rosalie was no exception.
She took on a southern accent "Well darling, you know I've only got eyes for you" She was quite happy with the way it sounded, very southern. She saw a flash of lust in her lovers eyes. She turned away to face Esme with small smile.
"But truly thanks for breakfast Esme, it was great." She said honestly.
A voice cut of Rosalie's response , she knew the voice it was Edwards , before it sounded endearing but now she could her the slight whine in it and it annoyed her to no end.
"Bella I believe we have some things to discuss" he said from his position by the kitchen, his arms folded across his chest. He read both Alice and Carlisles mind last night, when Alice got the vision he immediately took jasper out of the room before the smell of blood hit them both. After hunting they finally came back only to find the two women celebrating their 'love' ... loudly even through the soundproofed walls they could hear Rosalie's screams of pleasure something he wished he could remove from his mind.
He still found two women together strange but also the one being woman being someone he was infatuated with and the other being someone who was supposedly turned in hopes she would be his companion as Esme was to Carlisle.
Bella sighed at Edward impatience well she supposed she should be happy he didn't interrupt her and Rosalie last night because she was sure she would've killed the vampire then.
She glanced at the rest of the Cullens who wore curious faces but Edward the only one being downright suspicious of her.
She nodded to him and took Rosalie's hand in hers and walked to the family room. The rest of the Cullens blurred in quickly each taking up a spot. She noticed Carlisle missing.
"Where's Carlisle ?"
Alice answered from her spot next to jasper who held her around the waist.
"Work, it being Monday and all"
"Well then shouldn't we wait for him? I'd rather do this in one go than in pieces or explain again" she said with a sigh.
Alice nodded and took out her phone dialing the familiar number.She spoke quickly, Bella didn't listen to the conversation instead she rubbed small circles on her mates hand as she absently watched the tv that was playing some type of fashion program.
"He'll be here in a half hour , he still has a case to wrap up on" she said to the room.
Bella nodded absently, Emmet flipped through the channels trying to find something more appealing than clothes being shown on tv.
She heard Edward leave the room with a groan she rolled her eyes at his impatience.
Esme padded back to the kitchen to finish the dishes she started on. Jasper and Alice were having their own private conversation.
"Are you sure you want to tell them" asked Rosalie quietly. Of course she wanted her family to know the truth but she didn't want her mate being pushed into something.
Bella shrugged "I'll tell them what I am ..that's all" she said clearly , she wasn't going to share the other details with them. Something Rosalie picked up on, she nodded in agreement before leaning into her mate with a content sigh.
The time passed quickly with Emmets subtle not so subtle teasing too which she just rolled her eyes and not confirming or denying anything. But couldn't keep quiet when he teased her about her stamina.
"I think newly mated couples last a bit longer than just a few hours Bella" he teased, Bella raised a brow at the jab.
"Well I mean it would've gone on longer if we didn't have an audience" she said almost bored " besides I didn't know you were so into hearing your sisters moans Emmet , shame on you" she poked right back.
A nudge in her ribs told her that comment wasn't appreciated. She oomphed softly. Glancing to the side she saw her mate give her the stink eye.
Emmet spluttered before he groaned in defeat choosing to keep his mouth shut. And Bella gave Rosalie a look that said ' see it worked didn't it?'
To which the blonde vampire rolled her eyes with a scoff .
Later Carlisle stepped into the home , a half hour later than he said. Bella didn't mind she enjoyed lounging with her Rosalie even with the threat of James and Victoria looming over their heads.
"Well Carlisles here now... so we can start" said Edward form his spot in the corner—Bella bit back a scoff at the boys appearance seemingly out of nowhere—'fucking ghost'. She thought
"You're right" she says with small nod towards Carlisle.
"Alright before we start give me a moment to do something" she said, closing her eyes pushing out her magical presence, she felt no one but the seven vampires that have small bursts of magic in them.
She pushes further to the outskirts of the home then through the woods, she feels the life forces of woodland creatures milling around. Birds in the trees .. she feels the presence of several larger creatures before she pulls back the veil, opening her eyes showing the azure blue orbs.Satisfied with her findings that neither James or Victoria was close enough to listen or anywhere which in itself seemed a bit fishy but she lets it go.
"You have blue eyes?" Said Emmet
"What did you just do?" Said Edward
"How did I feel all that" said Jasper
Said three voices all at once, Bella glanced at Emmet first "to answer your questions in order. My eyes are usually brown that's my original color but when I use magic it turns blue —revealing the presence of my magic," she paused holding her hand up halting any questions.
"I'll explain everything but keep your questions for later .. Edward What I did was spread my magic outward like a veil, to see whether James and Victoria were lurking around the corner... each creature has a certain signature life force if you will... even vampires"
She gave Jasper a smile " you felt everything I felt because I let you, the calmness from the squirrels in the trees foraging for nuts or the chirping birds in the trees .. the calmness of a predator hunting its prey.. was everything I feel when I do that.. I originally created the spell to detect whether I had any unwanted visitors at my home" she looked pointedly to Edward who had the decency to look embarrassed and ashamed.
"Yes Edward I know when you made your little visits .. not all of them but most of them even if you weren't in my room I could feel your presence in the woods surrounding me... thankfully you gave up your little Romeo shtick before I shoved a tree up you ass"
"sorry Esme" she added quickly. Esme listened with rapt attention and waved off the concern with a small smile and glare toward Edward. The vampire shrunk even further.
"Anyways now I'm not a witch.. witches has mostly died out their family lines becoming diluted over the centuries plus witches needed to harness power from the ley lines which refers to the alignment of historical structures across the world.. so in actual fact they were either harnessing power from their ancestors or places important to those ancestors. Of course even if those historical structures dilapidated over time the magic remains.
My family is different... whereas with witches either males are able inherit magic from their ancestors and be called warlocks and females being called witches .. the men in my family can't inherit the powers which means my father is just a normal human" she pauses glancing to the room before she continues . "We're fundamentally different I don't need to harness magic from the ley lines , or any ancestors .. my magic is innate.
Now I said that only females are able to inherit the powers that meant that at times there wasn't any on us walking the earth at a time but only one can really walk the earth, the one before me was my 4 times over great grandmother.. she had some special abilities that are specific to each of us meaning she had the ability to distort time and space —before she left this world she was teaching me and about our family and where we come from."
Alice blurted "if you're not witches what are you then and how did your family even gain your powers?" Bella smiles at the pixies excitement.
"I'm an enchantress .. now my history is obviously much longer than vampires or shifters or the extinct children of the moon."
" as for the second part of your question—our powers are derived from the goddess Hecate in Greek mythology—yes gods exist and no I won't be getting into a debate about Jesus or whatever you're free to believe what you will without my influence. Anyway she is known as the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of the Titanes Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea.
My family hailed from Ancient Greece and our original surname was Cygnus which directly translates to Swan. One of the woman in my family or my entire family was devout believers in the gods but they praised Hecate the most, bringing offerings never missing a prayer—she found their devotion to her amazing even when people slowly stopped believing we didn't instead we increased our prayers asking forgiveness for the lost ones. Suffice to say she liked us and blessed our family." She said in one breath.
The room was silent even Edward that had a difficult time believing the story, he could hear the honesty and it seemed like she wasn't lying considering Jasper could read her emotions and the way he felt everything she did when did that veil thing.
"So you knew about vampires then? You just played the hapless human ?" He asked after a beat of silence passed through the room.
Bella tilted her head with an amused smile playing on her lips " well even if I didn't you didn't exactly hide your seemingly supernatural feats well, after all you were nowhere near me when that van headed in my direction" she shrugged not answering his question but not ignoring it either.
Emmet laughed into the room before he jumped up " so what can you all do?" He asked excitedly , Bella chuckled at the childlike amusement in his eyes.
"Calm down Emmet, I'm pretty much the strongest in this room really... Edward is only faster than me but everything else we're on par plus the fact that like my great grandmother had the ability to distort time and space I have full control of the elements and sub elements but I haven't really practiced with it.. but" she paused before flashing to the kitchen to get a glass of water she returned just as quickly leaving the vampires stunned at the speed.
She grabbed the vase on the table removing a few stones "I hope you don't mind Esme" she said to the woman.
"It's fine"
She nodded , focusing on the small stones she crushed them in her hand, levitating it with air, she let the stones form a ball , using the water her eyes flashed their vibrant blue as the water circled the small ball, creating flames she added it.
In the palm of her hand the crushed ball of rocks Levitated with water and fire circling it. She smiled at the baffled expressions of the vampires.
"This is only on a small scale" she added with a tinge of cockiness. Her mate looked at her with a smile pecking her cheek.
"You're amazing darling" she whispered playing to Bella's ego.
"Hehe thanks peanut" she grinned.
Carlisles eyes widened at the display of power, his own curiosity got the most of him, he watched Bella create fire out of nothing.
"How did you create fire out of nothing? But needed water to control it?"
Stopping the ball she let the fire disappear , the water return to it cup while the stones fell into her palm.
"Hmm I can create water though.. condensation you know what that is obviously now the nuclei if we were outside I could pull the droplets out of the air then we have water —it's a tiring process but it can be done if I'm nowhere near water ... as for the fire ? I guess the same thing applies I condense the air around me using my own magic as it's spark and then voila we've got fire" she said
"Wow ... that's wow" for the first time in a while Carlisle Cullen finds himself speechless at the teenager before him.
"That's amazing Bella .. id love to talk to you more about this or test your control over sub elements" a growl cut him off , Rosalie being the source.
" My mate isn't a science experiment Carlisle" she hissed , her protectiveness rearing it's head.
"It's fine rose," she calmed her down then looked to Carlisle " sure when we don't have a psychopathic murderer after me" she shrugged
"Of course" He conceded after the growl he received from his daughter.
"Bella how do you know about shifters?" Bella sighed she hoped Alice would gloss over that but clearly Bella hoped to much she didn't really want to get into the whole my family actually created you.
With a resigned shrug and a sigh escaping Rosalie she answered "My family is the reason shifters exists .. they were created as a watered down version of the children of the moon or better known as werewolves" she answered hoping the girl didn't pry further.
"What about Vampires though? We've been around that before that though , no one knows the origin exactly" asked Emmet to no one in particular he missed the grimace on Bella's face but Alice and Edward didn't.
"You know" the pixie accused, Bella narrowed her eyes before sighing.
"I do" she answered succinctly
"What then tell us I'm sure -" they were cut off by Bella's phone ringing.
"Hold that thought" she takes out her phone, glancing at the caller ID , she smiles at jakes name. She stands up answering the phone with a smile on her face.
"Jay" she says happily.Her happiness cut short by a chuckle , a chuckle she knew extremely well.
"Try again Bella" said the voice , her hands clenched tightly, gritting her teeth.
"James" she says angrily gaining the attention from the seven vampires in the room, Rosalie was up and next to her mate in a second.
"Ding ding you've got it Bella... now for your prize..."She didn't have time to play his games. She pushes out her magical presence once more. She feels another vampire just after the tree line—she was being watched James knew she was with the Cullens— 'how long had the vampire been there? Did they hear them talking .. ' she shakes her head.
"Why do you have Jacobs phone and where is my friend James?" She asks quickly. She feels a hand squeeze hers but she can't concentrate on that right now —this fucker has her friend , her best friend someone she considered a brother —family.
"Ah ah ah Isabella now now.. I know you're surrounded by those bunny munchers... so this is how it's going to go.. you listen to my instructions , I'll send it to you via text from this number and you follow it.. alone if not and my beautiful Vicky sees one bunny muncher your friend will be dead quicker than you can say shish-kebab .. do you understand Bella" gritting her teeth she turns to see the plea in Rosalie's eyes to refuse but how could she? How could she leave her brother to a fate she wouldn't wish on anyone.
"I want to hear his voice..." she says " I need to know his alive James" she fights her voice to not break..
"Ugh humans and their trust issues" she hears before the phone is moved.
"Bella ... Bells..." tears slide unbidden down her cheeks at the sound of her friends voice.
"Jakey.. are you okay?" She asks softly..
"Bella don't .. please don't come here I don't want anything to happen to you! just tell my dad I love him and I love you .. you were the best friend I ever had and an even better sister B" his voice breaks, it breaks Bella a bit more her tears now in an constant stream.
"No jake ... don't I'll come please just don't give up okay.. like we always say.. J forever right?"
"Well that was heartbreaking really, my heart goes out to you.. not" she trembles in anger at the voice and her brothers screams in the background begging her to stay away.
"Oh shut up" she hears bones crack and a groan.
"James I swear to the gods if you hurt him —"
She's cut off by a menacing laugh "you'll do nothing .. you're just a human now as I said you better be alone or your little brother will be digging his own grave.. times a wasting Bella"
A/N oooh the start of the hunt also the longest chapter I've written.
Did anyone expect the hostage to be Jake? Well I did that's why I made Bella stay in forks instead of fleeing to Phoenix but I've got some plans for my bro and his sis.
