Amber found her way to Reginald's office after changing into a uniform to see if there was anything that would be useful to her. She wasn't deterred by exploring the study since it was her nature to be curious. Countless books were in his study but none seemed to be fruitful. She scoffed at the lack of information until she went into the desk drawers. At first, the sleep scan records of the academy members didn't appear useful, that is until she got to Vanya's. Her eyebrow rose when there was a lot of activity in her earliest years, activity that matched her super powered siblings. At moments, there were off the charts and the spikes must have shown her powers and her powerful emotions. There was a drastic drop, which probably told Amber this was when Vanya started to take her meds. She slipped the files in her inner breast pocket and continued to investigate the office until she heard a disapproving cough. Her eyes shifted to the sound and sure enough, it was Pogo.

"What are you doing in my masters office Ms. Amber." he asked calmly.

Amber chuckled a bit and shook her head. It's sad that he kept going on like he was alive meanwhile he was six feet under and not on this earth anymore.

"Your master is dead Pogo and I wanted to see his notes on the others..."

"You mean Ms. Vanya." Pogo interrupted.

Amber sighed and nodded.

"You've proven to me that you could lie to the family and that your loyalty to Hargreaves matters above all else. Did he ever tell you that the world was going to end and did he have an idea on who would end the world?"

Pogo's grip tightened and he nodded.

"Just the former. The latter he had multiple theories; Dr. Terminal triggering the end with his inventions, a war to end all wars, the moon crashing down upon us. He could never be certain on what the cause was, only that there was to be an end which the academy must stop."

She wasn't getting anyway in terms of Vanya...maybe she had to bluff him. Klaus was looking for something so maybe she can bait him.

"I know Vanya has powers. I've seen the book that had information on Vanya's powers. You would have never guessed at a first glance." Amber lied.

Pogo's eyes widened and Amber grinned a bit. Go on, she thought.

"You found Master Hargreaves book? Please give it here. That book is far too priceless to part with." Pogo asked, coming closer to Amber.

"Don't see why, it should be information you know by heart and have memorized shouldn't it. I mean all the powers are clear as day and you had to know Vanya being ordinary was unlikely." Amber continued.

"Yes well it shouldn't be in the wrong hands. The information in the book shouldn't just be for anyone. In the wrong hands..."

"Someone could end the world, maybe Vanya?" Amber asked.

Pogo studied Amber and his surprise turned to that of disappointment. He sighed and shook his head.

"I see, you don't have the book. You're just trying to get information..."

"That I am clearly right about you useless..."

Amber groaned in sheer annoyance and she knew she had to calm herself.

"Look we don't have time for this song and dance Pogo. Why did Hargreaves take Vanya!? What do her powers do that made Reggie force her to medicate her? They can't be much more dangerous than mine are and I can literally set the world on fire if untrained. Please Pogo, we need to know." Amber begged.

Pogo shook his head and Amber cursed in French.

"You're signing the world's death certificate."

"Vanya doesn't have it in her to hurt anyone. She's truly a sweet woman, a woman Hargreaves I am sad to say never fully understood. He rather have Vanya be ordinary than to acknowledge the extraordinary yet dangerous gem he found."

"What. is. her. power!" Amber exclaimed.

Pogo slammed his stick down and shook his head.

"You will learn that I swear to keep my master's secrets long after his life ended. These will be my secrets to keep until I pass on as well. You know what it means to have strong ties and loyalties Ms. Amber so please understand that I can't share what I swore my master to keep between me and him. I will say this though...you're not the only one who knows Vanya may be more than ordinary. Your sound mind might give you the lead to whom to ask next."

Amber thought for a moment and it hit her, who would be the one person who perhaps could make Vanya ordinary, to tell Vanya she's ordinary and believe it with no questions.

"Allison." Amber thought out loud.

She glanced at Pogo and his hesitant gulp confirmed her instincts, Allison must have rumored Vanya when they were young. Not by her own choice, Hargreaves forced her. Amber needed to find Allison to confirm her theory and she really needed to find Vanya to get her away from Jenkins.

"If you do find the book Ms. Amber, I would love for it to be returned to me once you precure it for yourself. I know better that you will uncover the truth in that very book, but I would want it anyway." Pogo pleaded.

Amber nodded since Pogo had confirmed more than she thought he would. Pogo sighed in relief and walked to another part of the study. He opened the other side drawer and pulled out a small book. With a shaky hand, he gave it to Amber. She raised an eyebrow as she only saw 'Number 8' on it.

"Whose Number 8 Pogo? Five told me he only had 6 siblings."

Pogo's eyes softened and he stated,

"Master Hargreaves always had a strong hunch that you'd be in the family eventually. He took it upon himself to infiltrate the circus as a patron to study you. It wasn't easy but he was able to study you and your true potential that he thought was wasted at the circus."

Her eyes widened as she glanced at the first couple pages and saw Hargreaves scrawls on her performances. Mentions varied from useful talents to the cause to utter worthless and flight risks. She closed the book and glanced at Pogo once more before putting the book in her bag.

"If he was so interested, why..."

"He believes everything happens for a reason and waiting for the right moments to strike for the best outcome he always told me when I made the same case was this, when you awakened your potential and control will be time you'd be a part of the academy. I never thought until recently what he could have meant. You still have untapped potential true, but you're now a woman Hargreaves wouldn't have to worry about with her abilities."

"In other words, when I wasn't a monster to him. I'm starting to think that no matter what I do, I'll always be a monster. At least now I am a monster who has people in her corner that love her and will not be the cause of destruction."

Pogo shook his head and patted her hand gently.

"Master Hargreaves knew fire could be a source of life or death and didn't know how to have your training be balanced. He's not perfect, but he still is my master and I will see his wishes through."

Amber sighed but nodded in agreement as Pogo slowly made his way out of the study. He shifted behind him and asked,

"I hope by the time I'm done with my rounds you'll be out of the room Ms. Amber. I would hate for Grace to show her capabilities to you if you wish not to comply."

With that, Pogo left the room and not wanting to fight with Five's robotic mother, she left as well. She saw Diego running down the hall and she stopped him.

"Where the hell were you hot shot?" Amber asked.

"Jail." he answered as he tried to get past her.

Amber got in front of him again and looked concerned. Diego noticed the softness in her face and chuckled.

"You really give a shit about me, don't you?"

"Of course I care about you asshole. I mean I see you like a kid brother. I need to make sure doesn't do anything reckless. Besides, I was worried about you like I would about a family if I had one to give a shit about."

Diego flashed a sly grin at her and licked the top of his teeth in a cocky manner. Amber raised an eyebrow at him, which only made Diego chuckle.

"You know it's funny, there's parts of you that remind me of Five. The arrogance, the better than everyone else, the stubbornness but yet I also see a sweet, warm, and protective side I don't see in my brother. Did he tell you about the time he cheated in our spars by using his powers to get behind me and shanked me with my own knife."

Amber smiled a bit and nodded.

"Yes, but to be fair, I think it was payback for you and Ben tag teaming him to make him swallow some chicken livers. Sounds like typical brother stuff for a superhero family."

Good times Diego thought and he looked over Amber once more. He didn't see her like an outsider, but in some weird way he was starting to care for her. Amber shook her head humorously and checked Diego out once more.

"You better get changed Diego. If this morning turned out like I thought it did, we need you to get Luther out of his shitty mindset."

"What did I miss now?" he asked.

Amber filled Diego in on what his father had done and how pissed it made Luther. Diego didn't seem too shocked and in fact, he was laughing about it.

"Of course, he would do such a thing, selfish old man. Hate to say it, but it worked seeing how we all came running back here after all this time. I hate to say Luther keeps getting screwed for his loyalty, but he is getting royally fucked."

"Hence why we need you since you're the only one aside from Allison that can snap him out of it. We can't find Allison and we think she went after Jenkins. Do we have you brother?"

"Brother?" he questioned.

Amber blushed a bit and turned away from him, only to have Diego playfully shift her gaze with his finger. She wasn't like Five he thought, she wanted to trust others and to call him brother made Diego feel a bit warm inside.

"Klaus thinks of me like a sister... does it sound absurd and have I not yet earned the honor to call you that."

"Depends, who do you like better as a brother, Luther or myself."

Amber scoffed and playfully glared at him.

"You by a mile, but Klaus beats you both by several for the time being. Now I would get your finger off me Diego or else I will warm you up or Five will shank you for touching his wife in an intimate sort." Amber teased.

Diego raised his hands up in defense and Amber chuckled at him.

"Wise move. Maybe there is hope for you yet Diego. Now get dressed."

Amber waited in the lobby and moments later, Five, Diego, and Klaus joined her to get Luther. Klaus had a hunch on where Luther might be and they took Reggie's car to a local bar. Amber rolled her eyes as they walked in and sure enough, Luther was already on a second bottle of beer.

"Oh great just what we need, 'Number One' getting drunk off his ass." Amber scolded.

"Leave me alone." he growled as he sipped from his beer.

"Excuse me! You ought to know that you're behaving like a selfish little prick shit right now! Tu es une honte!" Amber exclaimed.

Amber was going to lunge at him, but Klaus and Five held her back. Diego looked softly at her and asked,

"Give us a few minutes."

"I would only need seconds with my way." Amber warned.

"I know you would, but we don't need a fire hazard. If you see me like a brother, trust me." Diego calmly told her.

Amber sighed and nodded. Five and Klaus brought Amber to a table and Five seemed a bit stunned.

"You see my family like your own?" Five asked with a slight smile.

"In its own fucked up and glorious way...yes. Though I really wish Luther wasn't in the family if I were to be honest. Seems like he's the dimmest out of everyone and he pisses me off greatly." Amber told him.

"Oh good I thought I was the only... wait no he pisses off Diego too. But yeah, Luther really is such a nag and now his 'don't give a shit' attitude is really a bummer even for him." Klaus mentions.

Amber watches as Diego and Luther talk and she's mentally screaming at them both.

"How hard is it to just say 'We can't find Allison and she went after a serial killer." Amber asks.

"Maybe Diego wants to ease him in." Klaus suggests.

"Well, I agree with Amber, we don't have time to mince words." Five added.

She watched as Luther's eyes widened, finally she thought.

"She's alone." Amber heard Diego say.

Bingo she thought and sure enough Luther exclaimed,

"You should have led with that! Jesus Christ!"

They all ran out of the bar and got into the car. Amber the passenger's seat, while Five drove and the remaining guys were in the backseat. Amber glanced at the book Pogo gave her and Five noticed as he was driving to the cabin.

"What's that you're reading?"

Amber cracked a slight smile and showed the cover. He raised an eyebrow and soon it clicked.

"My old man kept tabs on you. Always wondered where he was running to on some nights when I snuck out of bed. Never thought it was to watch you at the circus." Five mentioned.

"Wish he would have taken us, would have been a nice family trip." Klaus blurted out.

"Trust me, the circus was misery disguised as pleasure. Still all these notes about my powers, what I could possess, and what I could use them for. He even had ideas of temporal flame travel as far back as when I was ten. Genius yet a real bastard." Amber mentioned.

As she looked at the book, she noticed how some of her powers like making fire animals were limited but fire weapons were ingenious in his notes. There was a small note that had been crossed out several times as to the true strength of her power, but was marked very dangerous and temperamental, can cause ruin. She wondered what this could have been as she thought her flames were already very hot and powerful, yet there was still something beyond her usual fire power.

"Can you go any faster?" Luther asked Five.

"Ask me again and I'll burn you with a cigarette lighter." Five told him.

"No need, my flames are hotter. Now unless you want to feel fire under your butt, sit down and let Five do the driving young one." Amber scolded.

Luther sat down without a word while Klaus and Diego snickered at him which annoyed him greatly.

"Shut it you two." Luther growled.

By the time they got to the cabin, it was pretty late in the evening. Luther storms into the cabin and what he sees causes him to panic. Amber walked into the cabin and her stomach churned at the sight she was looking at, Allison in a pool of her own blood, her throat silted rather cleanly.

"Allison! No Allison!" Luther called out.

He took her in his arms and immediately headed back to the car in order to save Allison's life. Five got in the back seat with Diego and Luther to stop the bleeding while Amber got in the driver's seat. Klaus looked to her as he got in the passenger seat and told her,

"You better drive faster than Five did."

"There's a reason Five doesn't let me drive." Amber remarked as she stepped on the gas and she raced back to the academy.

Luther looked to Five and asked,

"Why the hell wasn't she driving on the way to Allison?"

"Because my love drives pretty recklessly and loves adrenaline a bit too much. Thankfully, we need that now to get Allison's neck to stop bleeding." Five said as he applied pressure to Allison's neck.

As Amber raced back, her thoughts went to Vanya and how she was able to do this. It pained her to think sweet and innocent Vanya did this, but she just couldn't think Jenkins could make a wound that clean. All Amber could hope for was for Allison to live through this and Vanya wouldn't have to be called what she had been all her early years, a monster.
