A/N: So, Sam's kind of a dick to Bonnie and Abby in this chapter, please don't get angry. Sam's supposed to be a god. I think it's about time I give him a more "godly" attitude.
"Consider it done." Alpheus sighed as he raised his new hammer and smote the ground, unleashing another burst of power that tore open a rip in space-time. "I invite you all to come and witness my work. If you please, of course, Lord Salvatore."
"Follow me, my dear." Sam held out his hand to Anna who took it reluctantly. "I promise you, I will keep you completely safe, and so will Alpheus. Isn't that right?"
Alpheus gave a quick nod before stepping through the door which he opened. Sam carefully led the young girl through after him.
As soon as they were outside the dark multiverse, Anna was taken aback; they were currently looking at the remains of their home universe in the third person! "Sam...oh my god!" Anna's wide eyes spun in all directions, trying to take in everything she was seeing. "Is that-"
All around them were splinters of their home universe, some jagged in shape, some round. Some were still filled with twinkling stars, some were completely reduced to streaks of pure energy and swirled and convulsed aimlessly. Everything was encased by a blood-red void known as The Bleed.
Sam pulled her close to his body and gently caressed her back. "If it's too overwhelming, my love, don't look at it."
"I'm fine..." Anna threw her arms around his neck but continued to look over his shoulder at the wreckage that The Ultimator had left behind. The portal created by Alpheus that was big enough for a 20-foot giant seemed so small all of a sudden. It had just occurred to her that even though they were standing in a void, there still seemed to be gravity pulling them down.
Sam read her mind. "I thought the presence of gravity would make you more comfortable. However, if you wish to experience space travel, I could remove it."
"NO!"
"Suit yourself."
Alpheus raised his great hammer above his head, his monstrous muscles contracting beneath blue skin. Rainbow energy surged through his arms and into the tool, making it glow a bright white light.
"My dear, you might want to see this..." Sam gently pried her arms off his neck, despite her being a five-hundred-year-old vampire and clinging on to him as her life depended on it(which it probably did).
Then, Alpheus brought the weapon crashing down towards the blood-red void beneath his feet.
Although there was no sound due to The Bleed being a vacuum, Anna was sure if it had happened on Earth, everyone within a five-mile radius would go deaf. A blinding burst of energy expanded from the head of the hammer, engulfing everything around them.
The energy encircled the fragments of the universe, bringing them back together and reconjoining the splintered realities into one endless unity. When Alpheus' power finally faded, a massive sphere of stars, planets, and celestial bodies stood before them.
The universe, once split apart by The Ultimator's presence, was whole again.
"Shall we?" Sam snapped his fingers, opening a portal into their universe and to Mystic Falls. Anna smiled joyfully. "Yes."
The universe was in the state it had been seconds before The Ultimator shattered it to smithereens. Nerscylla's corpse lay on the ground beside Abby Bennett's little cottage, its eight legs curled up and smoking.
The occasional spark caused by short-circuiting in its wiring made Sam believe it had been fried by some sort of powerful electromagnetic pulse. The broken power lines around them seemed to confirm this fact.
"Samuel Salvatore!" Bonnie's angry voice screamed from behind the techno-organic organism. "You little fucking bastard! You backstabbing little creaton! You...you..." Her mind was too overwhelmed with emotion to come up with insults.
"I see you did a great job holding The Ultimator back." greeted Sam, casually, "normally when I give someone a job, I expect them to see it through or suffer the consequences of failing me." His body lit up, projecting shadows of his wings against one of the many boulders flung about by Nerscylla. "But since I'm in a good mood today-"
"Lord Salvatore." Alpheus' deep thunderous voice interrupted him. "What punishment shall I inflict upon the witches who failed you?"
Bonnie and Abby jumped into each other's arms and cowered back against the giant spider creature behind them. "S-Sam? W-w-what's that?" Bonnie trembled.
Alpheus marched up to them in one massive stride and bent over until his ginormous yellow eyes were on the same level as the two tiny witches. "I am Alpheus the World Forger, and this universe is my masterpiece. I can return this world to the forge as easily as I brought into existence. You shall pay the Death Lord with appropriate respect or face his infuriate wrath."
Sam rolled his eyes and raised a finger, silencing the World Forger. "Alpheus. What are the fuck are you doing in this universe? I thought you had some kind of strict SELF-INFORCED schedule to keep back at the world forge?"
Alpheus' attitude changed like corn on a hot stove. His stern, oppressive tone and expression swung into one of respect and humbleness. Bowing his head lightly, he addressed the abstract entity standing before him with uttermost politeness and respect.
"But Lord Salvatore, her attitude!" Alpheus protested, "how could you allow such a lesser being to treat you this way?"
Sam glared up at him. "If you wish to impress me, to get on good terms with me, threatening those insignificant beings will not do you any good. Don't you think, if the two little witches were any real threat, I would have dealt with them already? And by the way, you have yet to reply to my previous question. Why are you here?"
"This universe is my masterpiece." replied Alpheus, "I believe that entitles me to observe it from close up. As you can see, I have enhanced this reality to support both of our presences without collapsing into oblivion. However, if you wish me gone-"
"It's fine." Sam walked up to Bonnie and her mother and scanned them carefully from head to toe. "As you ladies...I have yet to decide what course of action I am going to take with you... Anna. Do you have any suggestions for what will become of these two?"
Anna looked at the pair of Bennett witches standing before her.
It was a hard choice between whether to spare them or condemn them, and she had reasons for both ways. It was Emily Bennett who saved her mother by locking her in the tomb, and it was Sheila Bennett who reopened the tomb and freed them.
But at the same time, it was also Bonnie's wrongdoings that resulted in her second death. By not disabling the Gilbert Device, Bonnie LET the townspeople capture and kill her and all of the other vampires.
She decided to do neither. "Leave them here." Anna told Sam sternly, "I will not punish them, but at the same time, I will also not compensate for the damages we caused. The big metal spider thing is also your problem to deal with."
"Hey!" Bonnie wailed, "what?! How do you expect us to-" She gestured at the demolished house, the half-broken down barn, and the giant alien droid that lay on their yard. "-deal with this?!"
"That is no longer my concern," Sam told her coldly as he calmly strolled up to the destroyed and mutilated corpse of Esther Mikaelson that lay in the midst of the broken barn. "Anna has expressed her demand. I shall keep it."
He pried his ring up off the cold, stiff hand of Esther Mikaelson and examined it. There was still a significant portion of power left in the relic, even after being used to break down The Ultimator's imprisonment and bring him to the 3rd dimension.
"Stay back if you please..." Sam crushed the ring in his hand, absorbing the stored power back into himself. Instantly, a wave of light traveled up his arm and into his chest where it clustered up, illuminating the barn around him.
The light in his chest extended down to his whole body, turning him into a figure of pure white light for a brief moment before finally exploding out. The tools hanging on the walls flew around the room, the stacks of hay raveled themselves and sprinkled with straws, and a giant dust cloud erupted from the barn.
Bonnie, Abby, and Anna ran for cover as a shockwave of energy burst forth from his body, demolishing the wooden barn in which he stood. Now once again winged, Sam, floated out of the wreckage carrying Esther's corpse over his shoulder, his powers partially restored.
"Not bad...not exactly good either..." He examined his glowing hands and the set of invisible wings on his back. "I need to find my other two relics if I am to restore my full power."
Alpheus planted the hilt of his hammer in the soft ground and bowed his head respectfully. "Lord Salvatore. Is there any punishment you wish for me to inflict on the other girl?"
"'The other girl'?"
"The vampire who goes by the name Annabelle Zhu." Alpheus pointed down at Anna who kicked him on the legs and feet repeatedly to no avail. "Are you not going to punish her for the degrading words and extreme impatience she has expressed to you?"
Sam gave him a glare so close to a death stare that Alpheus almost felt the life drain out of him. "If you touch a HAIR on her head, I will cut off your fucking hands!"
"But sir-"
"Say...isn't your work on this universe DONE?" Sam growled, "I think it's time for you to leave."
Alpheus opened his mouth to argue but quickly thought otherwise. There was no convincing Death, there was no reasoning with Death. Death played by his own rules and only his own rules. Nothing can change that. Unless he wanted to get another beating, he'd better keep his mouth shut.
"Yes, Lord Death." With a stroke of his hammer, Alpheus opened a portal to the dark multiverse and disappeared back into his home. All that was left behind was a barren circle of lawn around the spot his hammer hit.
Sam looked cheerfully at the rest of the group. "Now. Where can I get a wood chipper? We need to dispose of this body don't we?"
"Home Depot?" Anna shrugged, "there's one in Mystic Falls I think...wait! But don't just-" It was too late; Sam already disappeared in a flutter of wings. "-walk-in holding a dead body. Oh no..."
