QBH: Finally, I got around to make another chapter. I know about the situation with the world right now. I do consider myslef lucky that I haven't lost my job.
Shadow: So what kept you from writing any faster? Looking at the timeline, you haven't added anything in nearly a year.
QBH: I know. I am beating myself over it but writing fan fiction is not my full time hobby. I have been addicted to Fall Guys as of now.
Sonic: So where you able to get my awesome costume, it is the coolest.
QBH: I only joined after Christmas and could only get one of the costume pieces.
Amy: That aside, are you okay with writing more chapters? Your story seems to only be just beginning.
QBH: Like I said before I am still stubborn. I will get the story finished eventually, I don't want anyone who had read since the beginning to leave this unfinished. Well anyways, I present you guys this chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 33: Friendly Banter
After Sonic narrated the events of Sonic being honest to Amy to the rest of his friends as well narrate the event of Amy meeting Sonic and Blaze and her response, the gang is divided about the outcome.
"I don't know. That doesn't seem like Amy to just accept it like that. Either she just took it too well or will plan on something back at you." Rouge
"Normally I would agree but then again you did talk her down and she didn't lash out at you the moment you 'broke up' with her. Maybe she finally has grown out of her crush phase." Cream
"This is Amy we are talking about. She often resorts to anger whenever it involves you, Sonic." Knuckles
"I anticipated it actually. I didn't run away and even stood ready to be attacked but she didn't. Even she didn't resort to wrath when I confess that I wanted to date Blaze." Sonic
"It's true. She even wished us good luck with a smile. I doubt Amy would do anything to destroy our relationship." Blaze
"Well it is too early to tell for sure. Given with this revelation, we have to be ready for anything even resorts to have to restrain her in case she gets mad." Tails
"I hope not. If Amy has turned over a new leaf then we have to believe in her. I have no doubt in her to do anything that fiendish." Cream
Everyone just looked at Cream with concern at first; some were optimistic and agreed while others are skeptical and disagree.
"Nevertheless, all we need to do now is to be ready. I can't believe I am saying this about Amy though." Tails
"Well has she ever lashed out at anyone when it always involves you, Sonic?" Rouge
Everyone actually raises their hand.
"Even you Cream?" Sonic
"Not all the time. As long the topic is not about you and about her crush. We get along just fine." Cream
"Well that is the reason we should be worried. Granted I doubt Amy would really be upset at her special day either." Blaze
"Okay let us put an end to the worry. Since I am the center of this, I am not going to run away and be willing to sort this all out with her." Sonic
"This is all so complicated … and here we are supposed to get ready for a birthday party." Knuckles
"Either way we still have to get ready for the party in the next 2 days." Cream
"Just one question though, has anyone tell Amy to meet up for her birthday?" Knuckles
"I'll take care of that. I already trust you guys to take care of the party while I lead her at the park." Cream
"Of course." Everyone
After everyone nodded in approval, they were now engaging in small talk.
Meanwhile, Amy as she was gets off the nearest stop starts to worry about Shadow being lost as the sun starts to set.
"I just hope Shadow doesn't end up too lost or he might be too stubborn to ask for directions. Well … I might as well make our dinner just to be safe." Amy
Amy took a small detour making sure she enough ingredients to cook.
Shadow in the meanwhile, is trying his best to get back to Amy's apartment despite having no clear memorization of the route back.
Back at Sonic's home, the group decides to end the meeting as the younger kids had to head home before dinner.
"Since we have everything almost set for the party, I guess we can wrap up this meeting." Sonic
"Wait, what time is it?" Tails
"Around 7:00, I think." Knuckles as everyone glanced at the main clock
"It is the right time to head home or else mom would get very worried." Cream
"Chao, chao, chao." Cheese
"Do you need help getting back to your place? I can always walk you back home." Tails
"That is okay, Tails. I can take care of myself." Cream
Cream gave her friends a proper farewell followed by Cheese following her out.
"That was a nice try, Tails. Are you really joining the bandwagon?" Knuckles
Realizing what he just said to Cream, he quickly denies what everyone assumed his motives.
"I am not trying to win her over, you guys." Tails
"Its fine, Tails. Cream can handle by herself." Knuckles
"I do trust that she can take care by herself but you never know what would Eggman would pull up." Tails
"Its fine, Tails. It's the thought that counts." Blaze
"Anyway, what are you guys going to do tonight?" Tails
"I actually have to get ready for work, so I have to head back home." Rouge
"That's not surprising. I bet you got another treasure hunt to go plunder off again." Knuckles
"I would but I no longer going to hide any secrets from you, remember?" Rouge
"Isn't that nice, Knuckles. She is finally opening up to your thick head of yours." Sonic
"Do you always have to say my head is thick? You don't get anything else better to do?" Knuckles
"Wow. First time you aren't going to get angry, I am impressed." Sonic
Knuckles simply crossed his arms and just huffed.
Before Sonic could follow up another remark, Rouge spoke up.
"Come on hun. You don't have to push Knuckles too hard. And by the way, moving forward, I will ask you to come along whenever I get a good lead to any treasure. I need the company anyway." Rouge
Knuckles was surprised by her intervention and didn't follow up on the rebuttal.
"Come on sweetie, I think we should leave. Seems Sonic doesn't always treat you any better." Rouge
Rouge with a smile tugged Knuckles by the shoulder gesturing towards the front door.
Knuckles quietly nodded but not before telling Sonic
"One of these days, Sonic. You got to stop snarking everyone. You are going to get your butt chewed out sooner or later." Knuckles
As Knuckles and Rouge, exited via the front door, there was a brief silence.
"I hate to say it, Sonic but Knuckles is kind of right. You tend to pick on him too often." Tails
"Yes, I am concerned about that behavior once in a while." Blaze
Knowing that he is outnumbered and the one who instigated that, Sonic could only feebly say
"Okay, maybe that wasn't the right response." Sonic
Tails and Blaze could only sigh and shake their heads in disbelief
Meanwhile at Amy's Apartment, Amy is busy making dinner. Without noticing the time, Amy is fixed in trying to prepare dinner even though she has no idea when Shadow would show up back.
"Worrying about a stubborn and arrogant being like this wouldn't matter to him in the grand scheme of things. … sigh … then again … only a few would be worried for his sake." Amy
Shadow now admitting he is lost, finally and out of pride did something he wouldn't have thought of doing. It may not seem like no big deal to ask a police officer for directions. For a very arrogant and stubborn being, it as seemed he was stung with a strong attack. Nevertheless, he needed to get back there before nightfall otherwise he expects to get an earful from Amy.
Meanwhile while Amy finishing up with cooking, she is somehow fixated on the clock in her kitchen. Worried that all that effort in making a nice dinner would go cold.
Meanwhile Knuckles and Rouge are about to set off back home when the former replies
"Thanks for standing up for me. Sonic is often like a big pain whenever he likes to do that." Knuckles
"You are welcome, honey." Rouge
Before the two would depart, Knuckles wanted to address something to Rouge
"So … you needed to go back to work?" Knuckles
"Well … Not everyone lives for free. I admit I am jealous that you can live off the island and don't worry about small trivial city living." Rouge
"If you say so. It isn't as grand as you think. As much as my duty to guard the Master Emerald, I have to stay put at that shrine for months or even years ever since I was tasked to be its Guardian." Knuckles begrudgingly admits
"I am amazed just how dedicated you are of your guardian role despite the many world-wide events that had happened." Rouge
"There are more serious events that can't be just ignored for the greater good." Knuckles
"Don't worry about being all lonely at the shrine. I'll still visit you whenever I have the free time." Rouge
"Properly? Cause I know you have been sneaking into the shrine, leaving calling cards behind." Knuckles
Rouge just gives her signature smile and put her face closely to him
"Yes. So, it was just to tease you but moving forward like we promise that I am honest with you, sweetie." Rouge
Knuckles quickly blushed but he reacted by kissing her
"Just come back soon, okay. It isn't fun being stuck all by myself." Knuckles after he finished
"Ah… I promise. Just one more kiss for the night." Rouge
"If only you were this easy to please." Knuckles
Both slowly kissed more firmly and gently while embracing tightly
Afterwards, the two parted ways heading back to their respective homes as Rouge is very happy as she glided back while Knuckles felt more relaxed as he headed back to his own home as well.
Back at Sonic's place, Tails and Blaze took turns talking down on Sonic for his flaws. Sonic couldn't help but bow his head in shame. What seemed like 2 or perhaps 5 minutes of snarky but well-meaning contempt, the two finally realize he had enough.
"Alright Sonic, I think I should call it a night. I still have projects I need to go over and help with the party preparations also." Tails
"You can always crash here, buddy. The commute back will take a while." Sonic
"Thanks but I can't leave my laboratory unattended on such short notice." Tails
"No problem, buddy. We might need to meet at the park to get ready for the birthday party." Sonic
Tails gave Sonics usual thumbs up as he leaves.
Sonic then turn to Blaze and asks
"Do you need to head back to your home universe. I am sure that your people would like to hear from you." Sonic
"I would but I still wanted to stay. Thanks for the concern though." Blaze smiling
"So, what would you like to do for the evening? Do you want to watch a movie or something?" Sonic
"Well, we need to eat dinner first but I actually want to take a fresh shower. It has been a long day." Blaze
"Sure thing. You can choose either the one by the end of the hallway or nearby my bedroom." Sonic
"Thank you, sweetie." Blaze as she left the room
Sonic couldn't help but feel embarrassed being called like that as he now tries to distract himself by setting up dinner.
Back at Amy's Apartment, Amy has finished her cooking and had set the table for two and yet looking at the clock is starting to get concerned
"I can't just venture out with a freshly made dinner already in place." Amy
Before she could decide whether or not to start heading out to start looking, the front door started knocking.
Relieved that he made it safely despite taking his time, she finally answers the door.
QBH: So I finished a chapter after procrastinating. Let us reasonable, writing fan fiction is not my full time hobby. It isnt easy trying to want to play games and still having a back catalog of them plus I am buying new ones whenever I have any interest.
Shadow: But your are still content with making more chapters?
QBH: I made a promise and I am too stubborn to just quit this story. I am not just leaving your romance story hanging
Sonic: No, take your time. I am sure both Amy and Shadow wouldn't mind they can spend more quality time together.
QBH: Anyway, now that I think about it. I may need to do so planning on some parts of the plot because it is incomplete.
Shadow: Wait a minute, I thought you said you have already have the entire story planned out.
QBH: I'll be honest that I have a draft already mapped out. I can assure you that the story will make sense and be connected. So that wraps up this chapter, see you guys soon for the next one!
