Okay guys. This is the one where I'm gonna get brutally murdered- I'm putting Tigger warnings at the bottom of the chapter- if you're concerned flick down to the bottom and see what the warnings are, it will get worse before it gets better and I don't want to upset people too much- but I don't wanna spoil things by putting the warning at the top so if you feel the need just go down to the bottom.
Percy drifted- she felt slow, heavy and weightless all at once- occasionally she heard voices- but they seemed distant, as if her head was underwater and they were above it.
And all through it all there was pain, hands touching her- the feeling of something cool being rubbed into her skin.
When she did fully wake up it happened slowly, and she forced back a whimper.
Everything hurt, she felt as if she'd been burned alive- which actually, if her memory wasn't playing tricks on her, was basically what had happened wasn't it?
She let out a slow weak breath as she opened her eyes, blinking up at the ceiling of... well she wasn't sure where she was. The ceiling above her was made of dark stone- and the light that filled the room wasn't electrical- it was softer, lamplight Percy realized as she ever so slowly tried to lift her head to look around and take stock- making a mental not that she was in a bed from the feel of it- and the sheets covering her felt cool.
She whimpered at the pain of even the smallest motion as she tried to lift her head- and then a voice came from the right of the bed.
"Perce- you're awake." and despite the pure relief and joy in that voice Percy felt as if she'd been sucker punched in the stomach and she snapped her head around to look- crying out from the pain as she did, and her eyes met familiar emerald green ones.
"No- no-"
"It's okay." Alabaster was leaning forward quickly, "It's okay Percy. You're going to be okay." he shifted, grabbing a glass from somewhere just outside of Percy's line of sight, "I'm going to give you some nectar- it should help with the pain-"
"This can't be happening-" Percy felt her eyes fill with tears, "Where am I? How-"
"Mount Orthys." Alabaster was sliding an arm beneath Percy's back, and he was pulling her up slightly so that she wasn't led flat- and she cried out in pain at the movement, she couldn't even lift her arms to try and push him away as he was pressing the glass to her lips. "When the volcano erupted I knew it had to be you- I sent some of my people to rescue you."
"Oh gods." Percy sobbed, "Oh gods no-"
"It's okay." Alabaster tilted the glass slightly, "Drink, it'll help-"
"Let me go- please-"
"Percy just drink the fucking nectar!" Alabaster snapped the words, "We can talk after, okay?" and Percy stared at him for a long moment before she swallowed hard and parted her lips so that he could pour some of the liquid into her mouth- and she swallowed slowly, the familiar taste of her moms warm cookies, the chocolate chips still all warm and melting.
And sure enough some of the pain faded- and before she'd realized it Percy had almost finished the entire glass of the precious nectar and Alabaster was shifting, putting the glass down on the floor, his arm still tucked beneath Percy's back, holding her up.
A moment later he was leaning over her, grabbing an extra pillow and tucking it behind her back to help her stay sat up- and Percy fought back tears when he faltered, leaning over her, his face inches from hers and his eyes flicking down to her lips, lingering there before they flicked back up, and Percy was silent, trembling when he finally leaned back, his expression almost amused. "There. See I'm trying to help you Percy."
"If you want to help me then let me go." Percy's voice was tight as she stared at Alabaster- "Please-"
"No." Alabaster's voice was firm, "Percy you nearly died- if I hadn't gotten to you when I did-"
"What about Leo? Did- did you rescue him too?"
Alabaster faltered, "I- no." and Percy closed her eyes, grief flooding through her. Even if he could survive the heat and the burns... with how high they'd been... he was probably dead.. but she'd been sure Nico was dead too. She- couldn't mourn, not in front of Alabaster and not until she knew for sure, so she pushed away the grief as he spoke again "I'm sorry." Alabaster's voice was stiff. "If I'd have known I'd have ordered them to find him too."
"What are you going to do now?" Percy knew she couldn't defend herself now. She was trapped- the nectar had helped, but even with the nectar she was still in pain, she still couldn't really move much.
"That depends on what you mean." Alabaster's eyes were narrowed slightly, "In general, or with you?"
"Both."
"Prepare for the attack on camp." Alabaster's voice was honest, "And don't give me that look- you knew that was the plan."
"Please-"
"Percy." Alabaster shook his head, "We will be taking on camp. There's no changing that- I've already had to delay our plans to rescue you." he reached out, brushing some of Percy's hair out of her face, ignoring the way she flinched at the touch as he curled her hair around his finger "Lord Kronos will spare anyone who surrenders. I'll send a messenger ahead with word of our offer of peace-"
"You know they'll never do that." Percy whispered, "Alabaster- please if there is any good left in you-"
"It's not a negotiation Percy." Alabaster snapped the words, yanking the lock of hair around his finger lightly, an unspoken warning, "I am being kind to you now- but I haven't forgot our last meeting. The only reason you're alive is my intervention. Keep that in mind."
"Is that a threat-"
"No." Alabaster groaned, "Percy I'm not evil I still care for you- which is more than you deserve." he shook his head. "But you will behave- and you will stay here."
"And what if I don't-"
"And how are you going to escape?" Alabaster raised an eyebrow. "Percy, you're injured- you were unconscious for two days even with our best healers seeing to you. Even with daily nectar and ambrosia you'll be too weak to use your powers for a few weeks at least- and even if you could use your powers you can't access them in this room, I've cast so many spells binding your powers that you won't even be able to heal from water. And you don't have Riptide."
"Riptide always comes back to me."
"Back to your pockets." Alabaster shifted, grabbing the sheets and pulling them down- and Percy blinked as she looked down at the white fabric and realized-
"You- you stripped me-"
"I didn't!" Alabaster groaned, "Di immortals Percy- your clothes were scraps coated with lava and blood! I had the medics put you in a chiton- which hasn't got any pockets."
Percy glared, "That is creepy and invasive and-"
"You were literally half dead! What was I supposed to do Perce-"
"Leave me to die." Percy spat the words, "Because I'd rather be dead than be your fucking hostage-"
"You're not a hostage!" Alabaster snapped back, "Percy you- you'll understand in time, I know you'll come around if you just let me explain and spend some time away from everyone who's got you convinced the gods are right-"
"I'm not listening to you." Percy shot back, "Nothing you ever say or do is going to change my opinion Alabaster-"
"You keep saying that but I know it will." Alabaster closed his eyes, letting out a slow breath, calming himself. "Not that it matters either way. Now you're here you won't be leaving. Not until it's time." Alabaster shook his head, "I just hoped- I thought maybe things could change. Maybe you'd be willing to listen to me. Maybe we could spend the next couple of weeks together- just me and you, before-"
"Before what?" Percy's eyes narrowed, "What's going to happened Alabaster what are you doing?"
"It doesn't matter." Alabaster shook his head, "Or- it does but I'm not telling you. You'll find out soon enough. I just wanted to spend some time together before things change."
"Yeah, well I don't care." Percy let out a breath, glaring at him. "Someone will come for me-"
"How?" Alabaster snorted, "They don't know I have you. They probably think you're dead- you were literally inside of a volcano when it erupted princess." he shook his head, "The fact that you're alive is a miracle."
And Percy knew that he was telling the truth. And she hated it, she hated it so much. She was powerless right now. There was no water around her and she was way, way too weak to use her powers to summon up water like she had in the volcano so she couldn't test to see if he was telling the truth about the room.
"I don't want to be here."
"It'll be okay." Alabaster smiled tightly, "I'll take care of you even if you don't love me."
"I'm a prisoner. I'm a fucking bird in a cage this isn't fair it-"
"Maybe it isn't." Alabaster cut her off, "But life isn't fair either princess." he stood up, looking down at her for a long moment, shaking his head. "I'm going to go and get you some food- before you think about trying some stupid escape attempt I will be locking the door behind me, you have no weapons and this place is crawling with monsters. They've been ordered to stay out of your rooms but if you do somehow get past a locked door they've been ordered to ensure that you don't escape. They won't kill you but they will hurt you Percy and you are in no state to fight- I doubt you can even stand up let alone anything else- but just remember that." and with that he was turning and striding towards the door, and Percy glared at his back as he moved towards one of the two doors in the room- he unlocked it and stepped out quickly, closing it behind him- and the noise of the lock echoed through the room.
Percy stared at it for a long moment before she swallowed hard, taking a deep breath.
She couldn't just give up without a fight could she?
She took a moment to take stock of her situation. She had no weapons- no pockets, it seemed that her locket, watch and the bracelet Annabeth had given her were gone- she forced down a wave of grief at the loss of such treasured items. She needed to focus on the important things.
So she gritted her teeth, forcing down a scream of pain as she pushed herself up further, so that she was sat up fully- every move make her skin feel like it was being stretched painfully- hot and throbbing and horrible in a way she'd ever even imagined before.
Once the pain had receded slightly and Percy felt like she could breath again she slowly twisted, letting her legs drop off the edge of the bed, and she winced when she looked down at herself and took it all in properly- the white of the chiton really made the redness of her skin stand out- her arms and legs were both a shade that reminded her of lobsters. She closed her eyes, swallowing hard.
She'd survived it- she was alive, she'd nearly died but she was alive.
Then she opened her eyes again and shuffled forward, constantly forcing back the pain, forcing herself to ignore it as she set her bare feet on the cool stone floor beneath her.
Her heart was pounding in her chest, as she slowly pushed herself up, fingers curling into fists- and she nearly let out a relieved sob when she managed to push herself to her feet.
It hurt- it hurt a lot, it was almost unbearable- but Percy prided herself on her stubbornness.
Now all she had to do was try to walk- if she could move around the room then maybe she could find something she could use as a weapon.
With her mind made up Percy took a step- and her legs gave out beneath her. She hit the floor with a shriek of pain, head cracking against the stone despite her best efforts to shield it.
She was pretty sure she blacked out for a minute or two, but when she came around again she managed to lift her paining head- eyes widening when she spotted the almost empty glass of nectar- she'd knocked it over as she'd fallen, and she reached out slowly, managing to curl her fingers around the cool glass as she slowly dragged herself up so that she was sitting, her back to the bed, a plan forming in her mind
She took a deep breath, lifting her hand with the glass in it before smashing it against the wooden frame of the bed beside her, smashing it into pieces- ignoring the pain as sharp glass cut into the palm of her hand.
At the very least if she had to be trapped her she could kill him for doing this to her.
She selected the biggest shard of the glass, curved, maybe an inch wide at it's widest point, and she used it to cut a strip off the skirt of the chiton, wrapping the fabric around the widest point of the glass before knocking the rest of the shards under the bed out of sight, hiding the weapon by moving the skirt of the chiton over it and tucking it so that it was just next to her, and she'd be able to grab it when the moment was right.
And when the door finally swung open again Alabaster stepped in carrying a tray.
His eyes instantly focused her and he cried out in shock when he realized she was on the floor. "Percy!" and he was rushing across the room and dumping a tray of food on the bed as he dropped down in front of Percy.
"Percy what the- you tried to get up didn't you?" his voice was filled with concern as he reached out, cupping her cheek in the palm of his hand. "You should have waited for me to get back I'd have helped you. Did you hurt yourself- your head is bleeding- shit-" and the door was open. He'd left the door open. Percy didn't even bother to hide the relieved sob that slipped past her lips.
Alabaster looked almost pleased at her reaction- "That's it- I'm here Percy. I'll look after you. I'll help you get better." he leaned closer, pressing his lips to Percy's forehead- and Percy didn't hesitate, grabbing the shard of glass by the makeshift fabric wrapped grip.
She lashed out, slicing the glass through the air, bringing it across his throat in one smooth move.
Okay, so possible Triggers:Percy's very badly injured from the volcano and is weak and completely powerless at this point. She's been captured and there's some real obsessive creepy behaviour from Alabaster but nothing too far at this point. Also she was stripped while she was unconscious and changed into new clothes.
