Hey guys! It is time. Time for the final battle of the story. It's taken a long time to get here but we're finally here! I will probably write an epilogue as soon as I finish with this chapter and then post them together, but we'll see. This will also be a chapter where it's only set in Scarlett's POV. Thanks so much for supporting me with this story because it's been awesome! Feel free to read my other stories if you want! I'm currently working on two after this one! Please review or comment on the chapter! Finally, here's the chapter!

Ch. 36: The Final Battle

(Scarlett's POV)

I stare at the large man in front of us. He has to be at least seven feet tall and that's just judging him sitting down. His skin is a dark green while his hair is a fiery red. His eyes glow a deep ember as he stares back at us. It's a chilling feeling. He sits in the throne chair wearing a huge set of black armor paired with a long sword resting next to him. I wonder how long he's been waiting for us here.

"S-Scarlett...above him," Link whispers to me, his voice laced with shock. I look up above the throne and see two people attached to the wall. I see Princess Zelda and...What…? Dante…? His and Zelda's eyes are closed but I think they're still alive. I haven't seen him in so long due to me being on my journey but how did he get here?

Wait a second...I remember now. When we were rushing to Princess Zelda's room to revive Midna he was there too. His captain had given the mission of protecting her or something like that. When she disappeared, he did too because he had touched her as she was leaving...They both must have come here together. Ugh, I hate that he got mixed up in all of this.

"Welcome to my castle."

I look back down at Ganondorf and he's grinning at me devilishly.

"This is not your castle!" I yell at him. He slowly stands from the throne chair and then just stays where he is. Okay, he's definitely taller than seven feet.

"I've been dying to meet you!" Midna growls at him. Ganondorf begins walking towards us.

"You and your people amuse me, Midna. You've been defying the gods for so long with your petty and pathetic magic, only to be thrown aside like garbage. How sad. But I have to say that they've served me well. Better than I've expected. Their anguish was my nourishment. Through their bleeding, I grew stronger and stronger until I was able to come back in the form that I am; complete and true power. Absolute power that only those chosen by the gods can wield. One who wields this power deserves to be king, don't you think?" he asks, holding up his fist. The back of his hand lights up and I could see the triforce symbol illuminate on his hand from where I was standing.

He has the triforce of power…

Midna began laughing next to me.

"If you were chosen by the gods then I will do everything in my power to deny you!"

Ganondorf only seemed amused by her statement.

"Shadow has been moved by light it seems...How amusing," he chuckles, "Deny me then!" He screams before dissipating into dark smoke. The smoke then shoots up in the air and directs its attention to Zelda and Dante who are stuck to the wall, unconscious. Midna gasps and flies up to them in a rush.

"No!"

She spreads her arms out to protect them as the dark smoke flies into them. I don't blink as I watch the smoke go past her and absorb into Zelda and Dante. Their bodies shake and rattle as Midna's eyes widen at them. She moves to touch their faces, but she's blown back by the force of the smoke so much that she flies to the entrance of the throne room.

"Midna!" Link and I yell, turning around and running towards her. We try our best to get to her but another one of those yellow twilight barriers stops us from reaching her.

"Damn it," Link cusses. I try to catch my breath but hear footsteps behind us. Swinging around, I see that Zelda is walking towards Link and Dante is walking towards me. Their eyes are a noticeable ember, and their skin matches that of Ganondorf.

"They're Ganondorf's puppets now," Link says through gritted teeth. I shake my head and glare at Dante in front of me. He's my friend but if I have to fight him to save Hyrule then I will. If I can just free him from Ganondorf's grip…

"How dare you stand against the king of light and shadow. For this you shall feel my wrath!" Zelda and Dante say simultaneously. A sword forms in their hand out of the same dark smoke that went into them and they rise into the air. Link and I jump back and watch as they levitate higher and higher.

"We'll probably have to split up on this," I say to him with disappointment.

"Yeah, I think you're right. We'll be okay if we play it safe. If you need my help, just call out to me," he says to me with a small smile. I return the smile and then get ready for the upcoming battle. Zelda and Dante stop about halfway from the ceiling and start swaying side to side. The familiar letters form in front of them.

Ganon's Puppets

Zelda and Dante

Here we go.

I run to one side of the room and Dante follows me while Zelda stays with Link.

"Dante, stop! Ganondorf is just possessing you!" I yell at him. He makes no response. Instead, he raises his sword and dives at me like you would dive into a body of water. My eyes widen and I roll out of the way. My gods, he's fast!

"I don't think talking to them is gonna help!" Link says to me from across the room.

"It was worth a shot!" I reply. I keep my eyes on Dante's haunting form but out of the corner of my eye I see Zelda shoot a ball of electricity at Link. He dashes back and swings at it, trying to disperse it with his sword. Instead, the ball flies back into Zelda and electrocutes her.

"That seemed to work!"

He nodded and readied for her to do it again. I turn to Dante and he dives at me again. Again, I jump out of the way and wonder if he'll form the same ball of electricity with his sword as Zelda just did. He never does. All he seems to know how to do is dive at me with the sword, which is still menacing, but it's only one type of attack.

I start trying to form a counterattack in my head while Link looks like he's doing fine. Zelda is diving at him too but not as much. She also has this triforce of light attack, but Link rolls out of the way before she can activate it. He's having much more success than me in this fight.

"Okay, come at me again…" I mutter to Dante. After a few seconds, he dives at me with his sword pointing at my chest. I grip my sword and swing behind my head and then in front of me right before he makes contact. The sword connects with Dante's body and he flies into the concrete of the castle wall with a huge boom!

"Sorry," I say. I have to look past the fact that it's my friend I'm fighting if I want to come out victorious. The faster I can free him from Ganondorf the better.

"You doing okay, Scarlett!?" Link asks me. I look at him and give him a thumbs up.

"Yeah! What about you!"

"So far so good!"

I smile and look at Dante. That swing really knocked the wind out of him and he slowly recovers himself from the indent in the wall. I think that maybe he's much weaker than Zelda to a degree. She has the power of the royal family while he's still new to being a Hyrulian soldier. That has to be the reason why he's not attacking me with any light attacks because he's never been able to form light magic like that.

"Okay, dive at me again!" I yell. His face gives off no real emotion as he floats up to the air once more. It's creepy that he doesn't make a single noise in response to my voice. He dives at me again and this time I raise my shield in front of me so that he bounces off it. Once I feel the impact of his sword, I push him back and hit him with my sword for the second time. All while this is happening, I can hear Link continuously hit back Zelda's light attacks. Dante hits the ground and stops moving finally.

"There we go."

I run to where Link is, and Zelda looks at me right when she's supposed to hit another ball of light back at Link. The ball of electricity hits her and her entire body shakes and trembles. She slowly lowers to the ground and her body goes limp on the bright red carpet that leads up to the throne chair.

"You think they'll be okay?" I ask Link, trying to slow my heavy breathing. He does the same and puts his sword away.

"I think so. We just had to get them out of Ganondorf's possession. I doubt that's the end of the fight though."

I doubt that as well.

Behind us, the twilight wall that had been holding Midna back disappears, and she is able to get to us once more. She puts all of the pieces of her helmet together and uses her multiple hands to slam both Zelda and Dante to the wall where the throne is located. She engulfs them in her hands for a few seconds, squeezing the dark smoke that Ganondorf had put them in. When she removes them, their skin is back to its regular color and they appear as if they are sleeping peacefully.

"Thank you, Midna," Link says to her. She separates the pieces of the helmet from herself and nods. The black shards of smoke linger around the two and then soar past us to the entrance of the room. There, it all comes together and a dark silhouette forms before us. Sighing, Link and I take our swords out again and Midna flies over to us, putting her arm on our shoulders. We give each other a look of confidence and get ready for the impending second fight.

The dark silhouette grows bigger and bigger until it forms a huge beast! The beast growls and enhances in size three more times. That's just great...The beast's fiery hair grows longer and extends down its back while sharp and long tusks shoot out of its snout. The beast roars at us once it's finished with its transformation. Looking at him, he's got to be the size of ten gorons put together!

Dark Beast

Ganon

Round two.

Midna touches both of our arms and we look at her.

"I think this fight will be easier if you two are beasts too."

"Yeah, we can use your hand to stop him if he charges at us," I say, trying to think of a plan on how to deal with this thing.

"Exactly! Let's do it!"

She snaps her fingers, and we transform into our beast forms. It might be the last time we have to use this form for anything. Then again, who knows what the future might hold for us. Now as wolves, we run around Beast Ganon and attempt to disorientate him. He can't attack both of us, can he? He runs straight ahead, ignoring us in the process, and sprints around the room. The force of his run causes the room to shake and bits of the ceiling fall to the ground.

He's trying to crush us!

Link barks to me and I run over to him. We huddle together and Midna forms a protective shield over us with her hair. One or two blocks of rubble hit the shield but overall, the attack is meaningless. Beast Ganon gets to the end of the room and then disappears through a portal that looks like one Midna would use. He must still have Zant's power even though he's dead…

"He could attack from anywhere so be ready!" Midna yells to us. The same portal appears in front of us and then disappears. Out of the corner of my eye, another one appears and then goes away. Is he just toying with us? After the fifth portal, Link spots a change in color on the sixth portal and we stare at it to see if anything happens. Sure enough, the humongous beast comes barreling out of it and charges straight in our direction. Link takes a step forward and Midna uses her hand to stop the monster in his tracks. Link gets pushed back a few feet from the sheer strength of the beast but he and Midna manage to stop him.

"Flip him over!"

Midna and Link turn to their right and twist their bodies so that Beast Ganon is forced to fall on his side. And fall on his side he does! He hits the ground, causing another rumbling of the room, and just lays there. He looks to be unable to move. We take this chance to attack and sink our teeth into his stomach, which has a large scar spread across it. After all the monsters we've faced on our adventure, we knew it had to be a weak spot.

'Take this, you son of a bitch,' is all I could think while tearing into the flesh of his belly with my canines. It must be painful because he's thrashing around underneath us. Link and I are swinging back and forth on his stomach while Midna uses her hair to punch him.

He's getting his ass kicked hard!

A few seconds go by and he finally throws us off him. We land on our feet, or paws, and see that he's running around the room again. It doesn't seem that he can do much since he knows he can't rush us. Midna forms the shield over us like last time and he disappears into a twilight portal.

"Okay, look out for the portal that changes color!" Link says to Midna and I. There's one problem though. No portal appears in front of us. We look around for the beast and Link notices a huge shadow looming under him. Looking up, he sees Beast Ganon falling right on top of us!

"Oh shit! Get out of the way!"

He rushes me to the side of the room and Midna flies away just in time before the body of the beast hits the ground. Man, that would've hurt so bad if he had smushed us. But now we know! That's another attack we can account for during this fight!

"Thanks, Link. That was close," I say as Beast Ganon disappears into a portal.

"No problem. We're doing good! He can't beat us as long as we act as a team!"

Multiple portals start showing up and we wait until one of them changes color. Beast Ganon charges out of it at us and this time I'm the one that has to step up and hold him back. Midna's hand extends outward, and I plant my paws hard into the ground. We stop him before he can hit us, and I feel like I've just been hit by a merchant wagon or something! He's so freaking heavy! I can barely toss him to the left of me, and it takes me a moment to regain my strength. Link, however, goes in for the kill and gnaws on the beast's stomach multiple times. Blood flies everywhere and coats our fur while Ganon screams and cries out in pain.

"Didn't think this would happen, did you! Stupid motherfucker!"

Midna slams her fists into Ganon's body and at this point the fight is completely one-sided. I go in after Link and do whatever I can to kill this beast. He's caused everyone so much pain and hardship in Hyrule and this is our time to make him pay for it!

I expect him to throw us off again, but he screams as loud as he can and then drops to the ground, seemingly dead. We stop attacking him and Midna snaps her fingers to turn us back into humans again.

"Wow, that really got him," I say to the two of them. Link smiles and then gives me a hug.

"We make a good team."

Midna smiles too but her smile drops in confusion when pure light emits from her body. She looks down at herself and the light coming from her flows in the direction of Zelda and Dante. The light enters their body and their eyes immediately open, their bodies completely healed from the fight they had with us. I sigh in relief and run to Dante.

"Oh my gods! You're okay! I mean...Are you okay?" I ask him with a nervous laugh.

"Y-Yeah, I think so. The last thing I remember is Ganondorf choking me. Then...everything went dark…"

He stops talking and his eyes widen for some reason. He looks around and he stops freaking out when he sees Zelda next to him.

"Oh! Princess, you're alright!" he yells to her. She smiles and nods her head.

"Yes, it seems Ganondorf has lost his hold over us. Thank you for doing everything you could to protect me," she says to him softly. Goodness, her voice is like an angel's. Dante blushes and rubs the back of his head.

"N-No problem, Princess. It's my duty to give up my life for you. I hope you're not too hurt from Ganondorf's possession."

She shakes her head and takes his hand in hers.

"I'm fine. And please call me Zelda from now on. I can at least give you that much."

The boy blushes again and nods his head furiously. Link and I give each other a look and then let out a chuckle. There's no way these two aren't getting together. They're obviously flirting! Midna rolls her eyes and looks at Beast Ganon. A green-like steam rises from his body, almost like a steam engine. I truly hope that that was his final form. Though, it sounds too good to be true if it is.

"We should still be wary of another attack from him," Link says to me. The gaze he's giving Ganondorf is a serious one. I squeeze his hand and nod.

"I think so too. We have to make sure that he's defeated for good."

"I agree. Princess, are you able to move around fine?" Midna asks Zelda.

"Yes, we were bonded for only a moment but now I am in full control. I have a feeling this isn't over yet."

"You would be right," a sinister voice says to us. The beast in the middle of the throne room disappears and a face forms from its body. It's the face of Ganondorf engulfed in yellow and green flames. Link and I take a step back in front of Zelda and Dante while Midna looks just about done. She closes her eyes and all the pieces of her helmet cling on to her like glue. Beside me, Link gasps and I look to see him rushing over to her. He lets his arm out to grab her but the feeling of being transported hits our bodies before he can reach her.

In a flash, we are in Hyrule Field. Link tightens his fist and lowers his head.

"Damn it! She's going to face him alone, so we don't have to! What happened to sticking together!" He yells angrily. I frown and take his arm into my hands.

"She's always been one to make decisions on her own. She wants to protect us so we don't have to fight for her anymore. I wish she would let us fight with her though…"

He huffs and gives me a worried look. I return it and look out at the castle in the distance.

"I'm worried too...but she's strong. I just know that she can-"

Before I can finish my sentence, a loud explosion sounds off in our ears and the castle explodes. The shockwave from the explosion throws us to the ground and Link and I instantly get back up.

"M-Midna…?" I whisper in shock. Smoke and debris cover the spot where the explosion occurred so it takes a minute before we can see anything. When the smoke clears, we only see one thing. It's Ganondorf...He sits atop a black horse and he raises his hand at us. There's something in it...I narrow my eyes to see what it is and when I realize what he's holding my eyes begin to water.

"No!" I scream out, tears flowing down my cheeks. In his hand is Midna's sacred helmet. Seeing me cry, the man grins and crushes the helmet in his fist.

"You bastard!" I yell out again. I look to Link and he's clenching his teeth in anger. Tears are forming in his eyes too. This can't be happening...She has to be okay! Ganondorf drops the helmet into the dirt and then rides his horse towards us. Behind him, five ghostly horsemen show up and point their swords at us.

"Shit…" Dante mutters. I wipe my face and raise my shield in front of me. Even with Midna gone, we have to end this. Link does the same and Zelda lowers our shields. We give her a surprised expression, but she looks to be calm during all that's going on.

"Spirits of light! Wielders of the great power that shines far and wides across the lands of our world...In my hour of need, grant us the light to banish evil!" She commands. Just before Ganondorf gets to us, we all disappear and find ourselves in an environment of nothingness. Nothing but light. It's similar to the place Shade always took us whenever he taught us a hidden skill.

"Link...Scarlett…"

Beside us, Zelda holds a bundle of arrows in her hands. The arrows are engraved in ancient writing and a pleasant hue glows around them.

"Those are…" I begin.

"Light arrows, yes," she finishes, "lend us the last of your power."

She bows to us and Link holds his hand out while looking at me. I smile and hold my hand out too. We've gotten this far, there's no way we're stopping now. Zelda raises up and smiles back to us seeing that we're giving her our hands. She rests her hands on ours and everything flashes back to Hyrule Field. Wait, am I taller? No, we're on Epona!

"Epona!" Links calls to her, petting her mane. She neighs happily and lifts up on her hind legs. Zelda and Dante stand next to us as Epona drops back down on her front hooves.

"I know you two can defeat the darkness that Ganondorf has brought to this land."

"We promise we'll win this," I tell her. She smiles and hands me the bundle of light arrows. I take my bow out and drop the arrows in my quiver.

"I know you will," she replies. Dante steps up to her and grabs her arm.

"Let's go, Pri-...Zelda. We have to get away from here so that you're safe," he says to her. He then looks at me and grins, "Give him hell, Scarlett. You too, Link."

"We will!" Link and I both yell with confidence. He nods and takes Zelda away from Hyrule Field, bringing her to safety. Now it's just me, Link, and Epona. Flashbacks suddenly race through my mind of when Link and I had first ridden Epona together. I think I might have fallen asleep on his shoulder back then.

"Brings me back to when we were just starting our journey," I say to him. He turns around to look at me and sees me smile at the comforting memory. He rests his hand on Epona's side and then on my hand.

"Those were the days," he laughs, "let's get back to days like that by defeating Ganondorf once and for all."

"Okay!" I say with determination. I look out into Hyrule Field and see Ganondorf riding around with the ghostly figures behind him. He's waiting for us...I put one of the light arrows on the string of my bow and tell Link that I'm ready.

"Alright, Let's go, Epona!" He yells. Epona neighs in such a way that it could be mistaken for a battle cry and speeds off in Ganondorf's direction. Seeing us come his way, Ganondorf grins excitedly and raises his fist in the air.

"Destroy them!"

The ghostly horsemen zoom past him at his command and head right for us. Immediately, Link makes a sharp right turn and dodges their attack. He then turns left again and gallops towards Ganondorf and the dark horse that he's sitting on. The man turns away from us and tries to get away from us but we're too fast.

"Here's the first one!" I yell as I pull back the light arrow on my bow's string. The light arrow radiates a strong, blinding light and gives off an echo that makes Ganondorf look back at me. The look on his face is one of dread. I glare as I let the arrow go and watch it hit Ganondorf right in his back. His whole body shakes from electrocution and he slumps on his horse's mane.

"Now, Link!" I yell. Link shouts to Epona and she runs fast enough to be side by side with Ganondorf. Link brings back his left arm and then swings hard at the fiend's body repeatedly. Link does his best to ride Epona and attack Ganondorf at the same time while I ready another light arrow.

"You little shits!" Ganondorf curses as he recovers from the light arrow and takes a swing back at us. We both duck and slow down to get behind him again.

"Argh!"

Ganondorf yells out in frustration, knowing he's going to get hit again. I shoot the light arrow at him and he becomes paralyzed.

"Once more!"

Link hits him over and over, causing blood to spray left and right. When Ganondorf recovers this time, he grits his teeth and swings his arm at us. The arm he swings doesn't have his sword, which could only mean.

"Shit!" Link yells as the five ghostly horsemen appear to the side of us out of nowhere and knock both Link and I off Epona. I land on my shoulder and gasp out in pain while Link does the same. My eyes flutter open after a few seconds and I see Ganondorf riding away. Again, trying to gain distance. I look back down to Link and he's slowly getting up from the fall we just had.

"Y-You okay?" I ask through strained breaths. He's able to get to his feet and holds his hand out to me.

"I think so. Nothing's broken. Are you okay, Scarlett?"

I take his hand and he pulls me up.

"Yeah, just a couple bruises and scratches. That trick was dirty," I say angrily. He nods and we get back on Epona, who seems to be fine also.

"Sure was, but we're getting close to breaking him. He can't run forever. Let's keep doing what we were doing. If he hits us again, remember we can use a fairy to heal us if you're too hurt!"

"Yeah, I've got them in my bag!" I remind him as we start riding again. Ganondorf senses us and sends his warriors at us. This time, they miss, and we reach just behind Ganondorf and his horse.

"You two just won't die, will you?" He asks with a sadistic smile. Not sure why he's happy because I'm about to wreck him with this next arrow.

"Nope!" Link yells as I release my arrow. This time, the arrow hits right between Ganondorf's eyes on his forehead. Freaking bullseye! His head swings back and I can tell that that arrow sent in a huge wave of pain. Using this chance, Link rides beside him and hits him with his master sword. I lay my bow down in my lap and take my sword too, hitting him over and over with it. Instead of recovering, Ganondorf's horse speeds up out of fear and Ganondorf's limp body falls off it into the dust.

"Epona, stop right here!" Link commands as soon as it happens. He hops off the horse and I follow right behind him. We run to where Ganondorf is and his body stirs on the ground. Using his sword as a cane, he stands up while laughing maniacally. And he says we're the ones that just won't die…

"Hahahahahahaha!" He laughs at the sky. We finally get to where he's standing and draw our swords at him. This has to be the last fight. We've beaten him three times and now he's got nowhere to run. He finally stops laughing and then stares at us.

"Impressive-looking blades, I must say. But nothing more. Would you hear my desire? To take this foul blade...and use it to blot out the light forever!" He screams as he takes his sword out of its sheath. He throws the sheath to the side and walks toward us. Up close, I notice the huge gash in his chest. It's like the one he had while in his beast form. I bet it's still a weakness for him. Given his height, he's extremely intimidating. I feel my right-hand glow bright with the triforce of courage and I remember that this is the last battle we have to do.

It's him or us.

Above, the weather grows dark and thunder and lightning crack in the clouds. A wall of twilight forms around the three of us, shielding off Epona from the fight. Personally, I would prefer she be safe from all of this. I look from her to Link and he looks pissed. Then again, I'm pissed too. This man needs to be stopped and we're the only ones who can do it.

"Remember everything that Shade taught us, and fight to the best of your ability," Link tells me.

"I will. I love you, Link," I say back to him.

"I love you too, Scarlett."

Ganondorf grimaces at us and forms a stance, signifying that the battle has started.

Dark Lord

Ganondorf

I take a defensive stance while Link takes an offensive stance. Ganondorf dashes at me first and tries to elbow me to the ground. I dash backwards and Link attacks him head on, but the attack is blocked. Link makes a consecutive combo of hits but each one is blocked by Ganondorf's sword. I roll behind him and slash at his back, which hits its mark. Ganondorf growls and swings his arm around.

"Ah!"

The back of his hand slaps me to the ground and a burning sensation rises in my cheek. I bring my hand to my face and look up to see Link attacking Ganondorf's back this time. The man tries to hit Link the same way he hit me but Link ducks just in time.

I hurry and get back to my feet. I have to be faster than that. Link lands all the hits he executes and sends Ganondorf back a few feet away from us. Growling again, he dashes in between us and throws fists at both of us. Both Link and I grunt, attempting to block each fist with our shield. Each punch rattles my entire body.

The triforce of power really is something.

Link eventually gets sick of blocking and decides to throw a punch of his own. His fist slams into Ganondorf's nose and I continue to use my sword to fight him. I get in a couple of slices of his skin before he jumps back again.

"Take this!"

Link runs at him and blocks a hit before doing a front flip over Ganondorf and slicing the back of his head. He stumbles forward and we both go in on him. I'm not sure how much he can handle but he's getting obliterated right now.

I might've spoken too soon because right as I am about to slash him again, he yells out in anger. He grabs my body and swings me into Link, throwing us into the Twilight Wall that surrounds us.

"Argh!"

I yelp, hitting the ground. I get up slowly but Link's already up.

"You okay!?"

"Yeah! You!?" I ask back.

"So far…" he mumbles. He watches as Ganondorf runs at us. He sighs heavily and then runs at him as well. The two clash their swords together and do their best to gain the upper hand against one another. I use this chance to take out my bow and light arrows. Maybe they can help. Link and Ganondorf's strength seem to be about the same because neither one can overcome the other. I pull the arrow back and aim for Ganondorf's shoulder.

"Not again!" He yells, which catches me slightly off guard. He stops trying to push Link back and dives out of the way as I let the arrow go. It misses and I shoot another one as fast as I can. He holds his sword in front of him and deflects arrow after arrow. He grins, knowing I'm never going to hit him like this and throws his sword at me.

"Ugh!" I shout and roll out of the way. During the roll, I hear him running again. I open my eyes and he's running at me full speed. Oh Gods, he's so fast and close to me. I raise my left hand up to shield myself but notice that my Hylian shield isn't even in my hand! I gasp and look around for it. It's in the place where I had rolled out of the way…

"Got you, bitch!" Ganondorf yells as he jumps in the air at me and brings down his sword. The only thing I can do at this point is do what Link did when the two were clashing with each other. I get up quickly and jump at the man with a yell. Metal rings out as our swords hit each other. The overwhelming power of Ganondorf is breath-taking. The force of his sword is so strong that I can already feel my grip faltering.

Link tries to help me out but Ganondorf kicks him away in the stomach, throwing him back a few feet. How is he able to fight off both of us!? I drop to one knee as my strength gives out. No matter what I do I can't win in a match of strength against him.

"S-Stop!" I yell out in desperation, even though I know he won't. My arms hurt so much. I look up at Ganondorf's face and an evil smile is plastered on it. He knows he can kill me. He's enjoying the fact that I'm struggling for my life against him.

Seeming to have enough of watching me, he gives one final push against me and knocks my sword out of my hands. He then brings his sword back and lunges it straight into my abdomen.

"Ahhhhh!" I scream out in pain. I intake a huge amount of air but everything feels like it has stopped working. I can't breathe or move. The only thing I can hear is Link screaming as he's sprints towards us again.

"Noo! Scarlett!"

I look down and see that blood is gushing from my body onto Ganondorf's sword. I feel as though time is unmoving…

I look back up only for Ganondorf to press his boot on my face and push me off his blade. Link continues to scream in rage as he finally reaches Ganondorf. Unfortunately, Ganondorf got me off his blade just in time to counter any attack Link could give him. I fall back into the ground and hold my stomach. Tears stream down my eyes and only two thoughts appear in my head; Link and my parents...I can't imagine what Link's feeling right now...And what would mom and dad say if they saw me like this…All crumbled up on the ground in a pool of my own blood…Am I really going to die here? Why couldn't I have been stronger like Link?

'Remember we can use a fairy to heal us if you're too hurt!'

My eyes slowly widen at the realization of Link's words back when we were fighting Ganondorf on horseback. The fairy! It...It should be in my bag! With a groan and another scream of pain, I roll myself on my back and reach down to my side for my bag. Rather than a bag, my fingers only feel the skin of my hip.

"H-Huh…?" I let out weakly. I try my best to look down at myself without having to see the horrible sight of my stomach. My bag's not attached to my hip. There's nothing there. I rest my head back on the ground and look all around me. A couple of feet away is my bag, half opened. The bottled fairy sits on the outer edge of it. The pain is becoming more real now with every second that passes. I have to hurry! I slowly stretch my arm out and try to grab the bottle the best I can. It's just out of reach for me. The farthest I can get is the very tips of my fingers.

This is torture.

More tears fall down my face as my vision begins to fade. I'm going to die soon. I can't crawl to it and I can't grab it. I'm just too weak!

"No…" I whimper out in a sob. I think of Link again and try to find him before my vision goes completely black. I expect him to still be fighting Ganondorf but said man is near the far twilight wall holding his right shoulder. Much closer to me is Link running as fast as he can over to me. My heart skips a beat at the sight of him and I watch as he snatches the bottled fairy from the bag and rips off the top.

"Please be okay! Please be okay!" He yells repeatedly with tears in his eyes. I stare at him as the fairy flies out of the bottle. I know I say this a lot, but his eyes are so beautiful...The blueness in them is mesmerizing...His tears only brighten the color and make them glisten like a lake would from the sun. This isn't exactly the right time to be adoring his eyes but it's the only thing I can focus on for some reason. I guess being this close to death, you never really know what you'll think about in the last second…

"Heal her! Heal her!"

The fairy flies to my abdomen and I gasp as the wound starts to close. The inner walls of my flesh connect back to each other and repair themselves. It hurts a lot but it's also comforting in a way. Once everything is fixed from within, the skin of my stomach heals from the fairy's abilities and covers up the hole that was once there. Coughing up blood, my vision slowly goes back to normal, and Link lets out a huge sigh of relief. He drops to his knees and wraps his arms around me.

"Scarlett, I'm so sorry! I should've been faster!" He cries out in guilt. I shake my head in his embrace.

"No! It's not your fault, Link! He was too strong for me…"

"But you're stronger than him..."

He sits back and cups my face with his hands gently.

"...How do you feel?"

"I feel fine now! If you hadn't gotten over here, I'd probably be dead!"

He looks down at the ground and then at Ganondorf who is bleeding heavily from his shoulder.

"I don't even want to think about that. The important thing is that you're okay. I got him pretty bad in his shoulder, so I bet he's slower now. You ready to continue fighting?" He asks. I take a deep breath and we both stand up.

"Yeah, let's finish this."

He nods with determination and crouches down to the ground. He picks up my sword and hands it to me. He then retrieves my shield and helps me slide my hand through the band on the back of it. Now that I have all my equipment, he holds both of my arms and kisses me. He pulls back and tightens his grip on his sword.

"Ganondorf!" He yells at the man, his voice hardened into one of anger. Ganondorf looks up from his shoulder and he's not grinning now. When he sees me alive and well, his frown lowers into a glare.

"I was right when I said you don't die…" he spits out. I glare back at him and prepare to attack him.

"Not today!"

Link and I break out into a full sprint towards him. He grunts in disgust and pushes himself off the twilight wall that he's leaning on. Blood gushes from his shoulder and spreads himself out to fight both of us. Link attacks him first with a power spin while I go for an overhead cut. Link's bet was correct when he predicted that he would be slower. He's able to block and dodge Link's spin but I cut into his other shoulder. He yells and swings his sword back at me, but I jump back just in time.

Link goes for him again before he can even react and slashes at him multiple times. Link focuses on the sword in Ganondorf's hand and knocks it out of his grip.

"Nice!" I say as I dash for it and throw it behind me. Ganondorf's eyes grow large, knowing he just lost his only way of defense. Now we can both deal damage to him! I turn back to him and point my sword at his abdomen, just like he did with me. His hands are too occupied trying to lessen Link's attack to stop me from mine.

"Got you!" I scream as I stab my sword into his lower abdomen. The wound is so deep that it goes from one side of his body to the other. His body freezes up in horror of the situation and Link kicks him to the ground. I watch as he jumps over his body and brings down the tip of his blade into the weak spot on Ganondorf's chest.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Ganondorf's mouth hangs open in the loudest scream I've ever heard. Link stares into his eyes, almost like he wants to be the last one Ganondorf sees before dying.

"This is for Scarlett," he finally says before pushing even harder on his blade and causing it to plunge deeper in Ganondorf's chest. He screams even more, and Link gets off of him. He walks to me and takes my hand.

"It's over," he mutters. I sigh and look at Ganondorf sadly.

"Thank Hylia…"

Shockingly, Ganondorf slowly gets up with our sword still inside him.

"D-Do not think this is the end…The history of light and shadow will be written in blood…"

"No, Ganondorf. You're done," I say to him coldly. His jaw clenches in anger and he raises his right fist. Link steps in front of me but Ganondorf never throws a punch. The triforce symbol of power fades from his hand and he stares at it in disbelief. He then looks at me and points.

"I...I killed you…"

"You almost did," I respond, "but Link saved me."

"Tsk…" He snorts, looking at Link this time. He goes to say something but, out of nowhere, his eyes roll back into his head. His pupils are replaced by a colorless white and then close for good. He lowers his head and his heavy breathing goes silent in front of us. I blink and look at Link.

"Do you think he just…?"

"Yeah…" he says quietly. He takes my hand and gives it a loving squeeze.

"I wish Midna could be here with us," he says to me with a saddened look. I squeeze back and sigh.

"Me too. I know she's in a better place though...W-What's that?" I ask suddenly. Behind Link's shoulder are four balls of lights that clear away the storming clouds above us. Link turns around as the balls of light form a silhouette of the light spirits that we had helped in the past.

"It's the light spirits but what are they doing here?" He questions. We just stand where we are and watch the spirits as they rotate in the sky. They lower to the ground to reveal a strangely familiar shape just over the hill in front of us. We squint our eyes to try to make it out.

"No way," Link says to me. He takes my hand and starts running towards the hill with excitement running through his veins. He must have better vision than me because I have no idea what's up there. I don't question Link though as I run with him. Judging by his current mood, I can make a guess as to who's up there. The thought of Midna being alive brings a smile to my face and we run even faster up the hill.

We reach over the top of the hill and find a cloaked figure sitting on the ground. The cloak is designed with ancient twilight markings that only Midna would know how to read.

"Midna!?" I ask the figure, wanting so bad for it to be her. The figure stands up and then faces us. It's Midna, only not the one we're used to seeing. This Midna is tall and extremely beautiful. Her face is just gorgeous, and her orange-tinted hair flows down her neck and chest like a waterfall. Her outfit almost looks like a swimsuit. The top of it covers her breasts but leaves her stomach open and her skirt goes down to her feet, but her legs are, for the most part, free from it.

Both Link and I gasp in amazement and all we can do is stare at her.

"What? Say something! Am I so beautiful that you've no words left?" She asks with a smile forming on her face. Link matches her smile with a grin and seeing that makes me grin too.

"M-Midna...You're beautiful! You're so pretty!" I yell in astonishment. I run up to her and give her a hug, which she gladly returns. Link joins in and it really feels like the gang's back together again.

"I told you! I wasn't lying when I said I was the sexiest being alive!"

"For now. I will reach your level of sexiness one day!" I declare, giving her another hug. Link laughs and shrugs his shoulders.

"I mean, I think you're already the sexiest woman alive but Midna's free to fight me over it."

"Nah...I think we've all done enough fighting for today. I'm glad you two came out victorious. I knew you would."

"Well, I almost didn't. One of those fairies we caught way back saved me from getting stabbed by Ganondorf...And Link was the only reason I was able to get it...How did you survive?" I ask her, holding her hands in my own.

"I knew you two would help each other stay alive, and I'm not exactly sure...I think the spirits aided me when everything went dark. The next thing I know, I'm here and back in my old body. I think that they knew I was helping you guys restore them back to their full power, so they decided to return the favor. That, or the dark power that had been keeping in that impish form went away when both Zant and Ganondorf died."

I nod and smile at the ground. They've had our backs just like we've had theirs.

"Thank Hylia, for that," Link says, "though, they could've made you a bit shorter."

Oh gods, he's right. She's got at least five or so inches on us. At the mention of her height, she narrows her eyes at the boy and pokes a finger into his chest.

"Oh no! This whole time I've been like two feet tall while you two towered over me! Well, guess what! Not anymore, mister!" She screams. I giggle behind my hand at the sight of Link rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, okay. That's fair."

"Damn right it is!"

She walks past us to the edge of the hill and looks down at a dead Ganondorf standing there, motionless. She shakes her head and crosses her arms.

"He's really dead, huh."

"Yeah, he won't be bothering us anytime soon."

"That's good. He needs to be put away forever. I don't think he deserves a proper burial though. I'll leave that decision to Princess Zelda. For now, I need to get back to my people and attempt to rebuild the Twilight Realm," she says to us.

"Is there anything we can do to help?" I ask. She smiles and shakes her head.

"You two have helped enough. I must build their trust in me on my own. The only way to do that is to go back to them. That means we must go back to the Desert Prison where the twilight mirror is...Hang tight while I get Princess Zelda. I need to discuss something with her before I leave. I'll transport back here when I get her and then we'll all go to the prison."

"Okay, we'll be here," Link tells her. She nods and teleports away, leaving us alone with each other. That feeling of overwhelming relief washes over my body knowing that we did the mission we were always meant to do from the very beginning. It was long and arduous, but it was worth it. I sat on the ground and leaned back on my palms. My limbs felt like jelly after all that fighting. Link snickered and did the same next to me.

"I'm so beat," I tell him.

"Me too," he replies, "we can start thinking about what we want to do for our vacation because there's no way we're not going on a vacation after everything we did," he laughs. I smile and lay my head on his shoulder.

"Hmm...I think a good long nap should be the first thing on the list. That sounds so nice right about now."

"Definitely. I'd also like to go back to my village and let everyone know that I'm okay. They've probably been worried sick for weeks," he says with a yawn. He lays back into the grass and I snuggle up close to him.

"Yeah, I should probably do the same with my parents...How are you feeling right now?"

"Like I just ran a 200-mile marathon...What about you?"

"I was thinking more of a 300-mile marathon," I answer him with a laugh. He laughs as well and rests his arms around my hips. We both know as soon as we close our eyes we'll be out until Midna comes back for us. And that's exactly what we do.

Sleep.

And you know, after the battle we just fought, I think we deserve some rest.
