Chapter 36
Lunch with Bakugo hadn't lost its novelty yet...to her or to those around her.
It wasn't something they did often. Not now that they were "dating" and definitely not before. In fact, other than today, they had only eaten together during lunchtime once before, choosing to spend it with their friends instead.
That's not to say that they hadn't spent anytime together in the last two weeks. They still went on jogs together. They would have dinner together. Hang out in the common area as they worked on their homework. Other than the hand holding, Uraraka couldn't really see a difference between before and after. Should she feel anxious about it? She really had no point in comparison. Maybe this was how relationships were?
What she did know was that ever since their brief make-out session in her room after their first date things between them had been incredibly PG.
Two weeks and nothing.
Not even a good night peck on the cheek.
It had been dryer than the Sahara.
Now that was making her anxious. Again, maybe she had no point of comparison but she did think it was a bit too soon for that to start happening right? It definitely wasn't an issue for Kirishima and Mina , she thought with a frown.
"What's up, Cheeks?" Bakugo asked, in what Uraraka assumed was his attempt at sounding casual. He was way too good at picking up the smallest changes in a person. Great trait for a hero to have but Uraraka found it just a tad bit annoying at times.
"When are we going to have our rematch?" Uraraka asked, avoiding Bakugo's pointed glance while she took a bite of her rice, "You don't remember?"
"I remember." Bakugo said after a beat, "I just thought you had chickened out." He smirked at her before taking a bite of his fish.
"Excuse me?!" Uraraka exclaimed loudly, drawing in some unwanted stares from across the cafeteria. "Excuse me." She repeated again but this time more composed.
Bakugo chuckled before returning to his meal.
He liked this. Just the two of them having lunch together. After their first date quickly turned disastrous Bakugo was positive Uraraka was not going to want anything to do with him but he was quickly disproven. The pretty heavy make-out session on her bedroom floor that night had done wonders for his ego. Still, everytime she went a little silent or detached a little...when he would catch her frowns or forlorn expressions, like just now, the worry would set back in.
They had each spent the Sunday after their date catching up on homework and finishing their internship applications. Uraraka had chosen to do so with Deku's dumbass and the rest of those extras. For worse or for worse, the green-haired nerd and those other three were her friends. Bakugo didn't really mind the frog chick...she was alright, had her moments. But he didn't understand why someone as badass as Uraraka would willingly spend any more time than necessary with Half and Half and Four Eyes?!
Still, she was free to make her own choices.
The time apart had also given Bakugo the opportunity to process what had happened. He was unfortunately no stranger to villain attacks. It was a bit triggering to have been targeted once more and worse, not knowing who they were or why they were there? How did they find him?
It had been a nightmare. The only thing that kept him from letting fear creep in that night was the fact that he wasn't alone. He couldn't let anything happen to the girl next to him.
His girl.
He would never forgive himself if Uraraka got injured because of him. He couldn't tell her that though, he didn't want her to think he thought her weak. It was difficult to explain...he knew she was strong and could hold her own in a fight. He knew that. He'd seen what she could do and she was only getting stronger. But...
Being around him was dangerous. And it would only get more dangerous as he became a pro-hero and began climbing the ranks. He probably shouldn't let things with Uraraka progress any further. For her safety.
She'd probably murder him if he told her that though. Besides...and even though he knew this was selfish, he didn't want to not be near her. She made him feel...happy? Somehow the word didn't seem nearly enough to describe his feelings but it would have to suffice for now.
"Don't ignore me you coward." Uraraka teased lightly.
Had it been literally anyone else in the entire universe Bakugo might have sent a cascade of explosions her way. But it was her. And he actually didn't mind it as much as he thought he would have.
"Just say when Cheeks." Bakugo challenged, the air around him thick with self-assurance. Uraraka was strong and it would be an interesting fight, but he was pretty confident he'd win that rematch.
"Don't underestimate me Mr. Floaty McExplody." Uraraka challenged back.
"We're back to that shit nickname again." Bakugo rolled his eyes and shook his head but smiled, "And I'm not underestimating you Round Face. I'd be dumb as fuck not to see how much stronger you've gotten since our last match." Bakugo said it matter-of-factly but Uraraka still blushed at his sincerity.
The bell announcing lunch had ended rang and with that the couple began making their return towards their class hand in hand.
They were halfway to the classrooms when they heard the familiar trill of Mina's voice calling out to Uraraka.
"Chako-chan! Chako-chan." Mina's voice came from behind them. Uraraka and Bakugo turned around to see Mina approaching them quickly while dragging an unwilling Kirishima behind her.
"Hi Mina!" Uraraka responded merrily.
"Don't you ever shut up." Bakugo gruffed at their pink classmate.
"I believe I called out to Ochako not to your bitter ass." Mina huffed at him.
Bakugo was about to retort something when Kirishima cut in, "Okay, well that's our cue to leave right Baku-bro." He said casually, wrapping an arm around an unwilling Bakugo as he began usehring him away. "Don't be late girls, see you in class." Kirishima winked at the girls, chuckling as his friend started shouting expletives at him.
"You're a saint Chako-chip." Mina sighed dramatically before turning towards her. Uraraka giggled. She could still hear Bakugo's threats from down the hall.
"Anyway," Mina started, "I got it."
"Got what?" Uraraka asked, slightly confused.
"What you asked me to get not even like an hour or so ago, come on Chako." Mina teased Uraraka, but her smile was warm. "Come on," Mina interlocked her arm with Uraraka and began walking her to their class as well.
"Wait...you don't mean…" Uraraka's eyes widened in thinly concealed shock. "But how? That was really quick!" Uraraka finally remembered what she had asked Mina to procure for her but she had thought it would take longer, and definitely longer than the lunch period.
Mina laughed again. "I already had it but I had lent it out to Ibara-chan so I just asked her for it over lunch and she happened to have it with her."
"Ibara-chan?" Uraraka asked, trying to picture all the students that went to her school.
"You know her, Shiozaki Ibara from class 1-B, long green thorn-covered vines for hair." The image of a regal-looking, elegant and soft-spoken girl came to mind but she couldn't coincide that image with this new puzzling information.
"Why would she...isn't she like really…" Uraraka wasn't sure where she was going with this. She supposed at the end of the day it didn't really matter. Wouldn't the school say the same thing about her if they found out? Uraraka was not going to be the one to judge.
"Oh sweetie, I told you we weren't the only ones who read this kind of stuff." Mina chuckled as she began pulling out something from her purse.
"Wait, you're gonna give it to me here?!" Uraraka panicked slightly, they were a couple feet away from their classroom door and they could hear the commotion from the inside.
"It has a cover like the other one. Open your bag." Mina instructed and quickly deposited the package into Uraraka's bag.
"Done." Mina smiled triumphantly, "Enjoy!" She said suggestively before making her way inside their classroom.
Uraraka took a quick second to gather herself. This was nothing new. She had already done this. Although this time it was a little different in that she had sought it out...for the main purpose of...doing it again...with
Oh goodness! Uraraka could feel the heat rush to her cheeks again.
"Uraraka-san, I suggest you get inside immediately." Aizawa-sensei's bored voice came from behind her, making her yelp in surprise.
"Ahh ha ha ha, y-yes, sorry, right away sir...yes." Uraraka began stuttering as she made her way inside as well. She briefly made eye-contact with Bakugo but this only caused her to become even more flustered. Uraraka quickly averted her gaze and rushed towards her seat leaving Bakugo pretty confused.
It was impossible to concentrate for the rest of the school day. It was as if time
had reversed itself to the previous December when she had just begun reading her first erotic fiction novel and Bakugo was just her angry classmate who was completely out of reach other than in her daydreams.
Except this time she didn't just have daydreams...she had memories. She remembered how his hard body felt above her. She could practically taste him and her most intimate parts ached with need. Desire.
Stop. You can't do this to yourself. You're in class!
Uraraka was getting hot. She kept finding herself staring at Bakugo...his hair, the back of his neck, his hands...she knew how they felt now. She knew how they felt touching her. How they felt inside her…
Concentrate.
Only a couple of minutes left of class but they felt like an eternity. The package Mina had so delicately placed in her bag seemed to be signaling at her. She hadn't really thought this through. How was she going to...the thought of what she wanted to do made her blush. She could feel the blood rushing to her face. A couple of minutes. Only a couple of minutes left.
She wanted to sprint out of the classroom and run straight to the privacy of her room but she couldn't do that. It would raise too much suspicion, especially in Bakugo.
Internships were being announced later in the evening and everyone was a little on edge. The girls had all planned to be together in the hours leading up. A bit of de-stressing with aimless gossip and camaraderie.
These internships counted a lot...most students would probably end up at the agency they interned during their second year. Everyone wanted to be placed somewhere reputable...somewhere where their quirks and hero abilities could shine. Uraraka was no exception.
Although Uraraka had agreed to apply to Miruko's agency with Mina without really knowing what she had agreed to in the first place, after giving it a bit of thought she actually thought it might be a good fit for her. Miruko, the Rabbit Hero, was currently No. 5 in the Hero Ranking. She was also a badass. Direct. Everyone respected her. Uraraka wanted to be able to command a room like she did. Yes, she could learn a lot from an internship with Miruko.
The only catch was the fact that Miruko never took interns. This year was the first time since her debut as a pro-hero that she
Uraraka had also applied with Ryuko and Wash. Can't put all her eggs in one basket. But still, the thought of not being accepted by Miruko had her beyond nervous.
But she wouldn't think about that now. If things went according to plan, that would come later, like much later.
The bell signaling the end of class rang and Uraraka ignored her previous musings and proceeded to sprinted out the door. Her mind on the task at hand. She'd deal with Bakugo or anyone else's questions later.
Right now she had to hustle her ass to Heights Alliance and prepare for this evening.
I hope you know what you're getting yourself into Ochako.
