Itachi seems to be intent on Yuuhi Kurenai lately and Nagi takes this opportunity to deepen her bond with her other teammate.

They don't have secret meetings and shared oracles between them, but she wants to get to know him.

Nagi bounce on the back of her feet, waiting for Yoji at the Aburame compound gate.

-Do we have practice?- he sign, approaching her.

"No. But are you free today?"

Yoji considers it.

-Yes.-

Nagi smiles up at him, "Great. Let's hang out?"

-Spar?-

She tilt her head, watching a pair of civilian siblings chase each other, "No. Let's just walk around Konoha. What do you do on your days off, Yoji-san?"

-Train-

Just like her.

"What about reading? Do you want to visit the bookstores with me? I've been trying to get a copy of Jiraiya-sama's Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Ninja but I still can't find one."

-Okay.-

"Let's eat out after." She start walking towards downtown.

There's a length of silence before Yoji moves.

-How far can you see?-

A question regularly presented to her.

She tap her chin in thought, stretching her field of vision to check, "See? About... three kilometres, give or take."

-Impressive.-

"Yes," she nod, "The elders always say so."

Nagi spots a pancake stand parked at a high pass and she pull at his sleeve to lead him to it. She buy them one each.

She watch him.

Unlike most, he doesn't even make an attempt to pay himself, taking her offering as it is.

Nagi likes Yoji.

He's rather simple. He asks questions she doesn't mind answering, and almost always answers her own.

Nagi says that because sometimes, Yoji gives the impression that... He really doesn't have an answer for the simpler things.

He doesn't have a favourite food, or a favourite colour, or his least favourite food and least favourite color.

The thing is, he doesn't have preferences.

Nagi sigh to herself.

What bad luck, that she'd be teamed up with a possible Root agent, though it's not really that surprising since of course they'd be keeping tabs on Itachi.

But since she entered the team at the same time as Yoji... She wonders if maybe it's her Yoji is supposed to observe.

Or maybe it's both. With Itachi's lost of his teammates, they took the chance to slip in a pair of eyes and since she's already on the team, reporting back about her won't be too remiss.

Nagi hopes so, for the sake of their own plans.

Being above suspicions and therefore with more freedom to move is the factor Shisui seems intent on preserving in her.

In the meantime, she'll keep a closer eye on her teammate and maybe work on returning some humanity in him. Not all people has been able to keep as much life as Sai had, so she hesitates to say that she has a plan. Only constant immersion.

Basically going out a lot and unsubtle pushes to do as much things so they can start separating what he does and doesn't like.

"Yoji-san, I've never played at the arcade before. Let's go and you play for me, I can't reach most of it."

XxXxXx

Nagi stares in mild wonder.

"Shisui?" She mutter to herself, examining the crow on the bridge railing.

This is the first time he'd used his summon as a messenger between them.

Nagi takes the chance to scrutinize the bird, comparing it to a normal one and is not surprised to see that in absolutely all angles, it looks just like any crow. It doesn't even speak, simply reaching out a leg to present her the tied paper.

Of course Shisui will not send anything distinctive.

After a scan in her surroundings, what may or may not be the future team seven's meeting place, she snatch the paper and unfold it.

It's vague and multi coded, but she gets the spirit of the message. He'd tracked down Gato and though he's not showing any signs of moving against Water yet, he'd also confirmed Gaara's state with a crow, as did he the Mizukage -though he almost lost a summon for that one. He's also combed the elemental nations for all the jinchuuriki.

Knowing exactly the signs to search for, Shisui doesn't need to take unnecessary risks like getting into high security files of enemy villages. It's a swoop and run operation. Once the crows confirms the person's identity, most often by matching the features she gave him from the 'list of characters' he'd had her make, they're out.

He had to eye the Mizukage a bit longer to determine that it really is a Mangekyou responsible for the genjutsu.

It is.

And he seems to currently be low-key freaking out.

Nagi is getting that impression, with how many times he's repeated at least Uchiha Madara is probably, hopefully, dead by this point pleasetellmehe'sdead in increasingly subtle and creative wordings.

Retrieving a pen from her weapons pouch, the first thing she writes is a reassurance that he probably is, if the rest of the story seem to be following the same pace, then she doesn't see why he won't either. Next, she reports her contact with Kabuto, specifically her continued contact with him, and that Yoji is most likely Root and in no uncertain terms, she's gonna try to pull him out -long term plan she's going to pull him out, but as of yet, she's just spending an inordinate amount of time with him.

Nagi takes this to mean that they will be commencing with meddling into the plot.

It's a bit scary. They can only do it once, one wrong move and everything might start spiralling to a worse conclusion. The butterfly effect, too. An action in one corner of the continent can have repercussions on the rest of it.

But the lives that they'll be able to keep from being destroyed, and the peace at the end.

The fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers that won't have to die.

Nagi can deal with the fear for that.
