Sanji parked the car. He got out and went around to the passenger seat and opened the door as Luane unbuckled the seatbelt. He helped her out and made sure she had everything. Then he closes the door and grabs her hand. They walk to the front of the school gate. He and Luane joined the herd of parent taking their kids to school. When they got in front of area her class gathers around he bends down to look at her. He gives her a smiled.
"Have a great day." He says. She gives him a smile in return. She gives him a hug back.
"You too." She says then she runs off. He stands up as he watches her talk with almost everyone. He's sure she's friends with the whole class.
He looks up at the sky as he walks back to his car. Today is the day. The court hearing for the adoption. He had been helping Zoro with his speech and anything else Zoro might need. He was glad to help Zoro with this. Glad to see Zoro really fighting for those two.
Seeing Zoro without them seemed so unnatural now. Plus if Zoro adopted them it would be easier for Luane to see them. Her and Arin are like kindred spirits, one in the same. She had really missed seeing him and it was very difficult to just visit Dandan's. It's would seem they can't just pop up to visit Arin.
Sanji went in his car and drove off to work. He didn't know what time the hearing started, he just knew it's today.
Zoro stood there in the courtroom talking to his friend, his lawyer. They both wore their dress uniforms. She told him that it would be okay but he just couldn't help but feel nervous.
He kept thinking about the bad things that could happen, he's been in the system, he knows it's not great, it's really bad until he got adopted by Mihawk. He wanted to do the same for them, especially now, they were younger than he was. He doesn't want them to go through what he did. Arin, especially, has already been through enough.
Before he knew it the hearing starting. Speaking directly to the judge his lawyer started, "the reason we are here today if to give this man, this officer," she point to Zoro, "the privilege to adopt not one but two children from Dandan's orphanage." She states.
"What makes this such a big deal?" The judge asks with a frown.
"That's why I'm here." Another lawyer stands up from his seat opposite from Zoro. They turn their heads to face him. "I don't believe he should be aloud to adopt these children."
"Alright, present the case." The judge says.
"In the case of Roronoa Zoro. I believe he shouldn't be aloud to adopt these children or any in the future. It was all over the news that he was kidnapped right from his home, taken away for weeks before he was found, beaten and bloodied. If these kids were with them they would have been put in danger, they could have been hurt." He says dramatically. Zoro and his lawyer looked at him like a bug. He can't be serious can he? This is how he's trying to persuade the judge? "He is an officer, this could be a recurrence. What happen if it's worse the next time? If it's not these kids then it could be others he wants to adopt. It would be best to let them stay where they are safe, and have them be adopted by someone else, by a couple perhaps." A vein popped on Zoro's forehead. The bastard, how dare he. There is a long pause, signalling he's finished.
"Is it our turn?" Zoro's lawyer asks.
"I've said what I needed." The man holds is nose in the air as he sits down. Zoro looks at his lawyer, she gives him a not. She goes to her seat next to Zoro as he stands up. He straightens his tie and smooths down his blazer. He clears his throat. They all look at Zoro shocked, he was going to testify himself, then why the lawyer?
"It would seem you didn't do your own research." Zoro says as he goes around the desk and to the judge not breaking eye contact with the enemy. "You says it would be saver if he stayed there but did you dig into what happened there?" Zoro asks. Both the other lawyer and the judge looked at the officer confused. "Before I continue I would like to say that I was an orphan too, I know how horrible those places are, saying that, I will say Dandan's is a great place. Better than any other place I've ever been in. With that said, I think you should look at these." Zoro is handed two case files. He gives one to the enemy and the other to the judge. They look through it.
"He was hurt." The judge states.
"Yes, not by any of the other workers or Dandan herself but another child. This child would bully the other kids not just Arin, the boy I would love to adopt, he would hurt both the boys and girls that either got in his way or didn't do want he wanted. He even hurt the smaller kids too if they got in the way but the older kids protected them as much as they could. By you saying that this boy would be safer in the orphanage you are willing him to be hurt by the other kids. This isn't the only case either. We have other cases where children are being hurt by other children." Zoro says. The judge looks through the case file Zoro gave him to see that it was full of pictures of bruises and cuts from different children. The enemy stands up frantically.
"This may be hurt how do we know this wasn't from you or an actual adult?"
"If you read the hospital report, or even the doctors note from not just one doctor but multiple, they have stated that the bruising on each child in not only small compared to what I or any adult is capable of but also they also aren't as hard and deep as what and adult could do."
The enemy looks quickly through this, so does the judge.
