Lavender eyes clenched tightly shut as a wail rose from the palace in the distance. Every cell in his being was screaming for him to return, to bring comfort to the one who was lamenting, but he held fast to the pillar he clung to. Shallow trenches appeared within the rock as his fingers raked across its rough surface, his nails slowly bending then cracking with the strength he was struggling to contain. A thin ribbon of blood appeared from each fingertip as he fought to level his breathing. The news of their disappearances had caused the king distress, that was to be expected, but even Yugi could not have predicted the explosion of magical energy that surely would have left gramps in a fragile state. It had been so powerful that the palace itself was barely capable of sustaining the power! Mana had put everything she had so that they could escape the clutches of those ravenous sirens and had barely made it back to the kingdom. They had overheard quite the tale between Bakura, the barbaric king, and his previous little pet, the eel woman, that he couldn't ignore the threat. "Sorry," he whispered, turning away as another wail sounded. "But I have to go help Atem before those sirens take anymore from us."
