Epilogue
The years moved quickly, as they ever did. Before Narciss knew what had hit her, she was preparing for Draco, Harry, Hermione's, and Neville's graduation party. The four friends had aced their OWLs and their GCSEs at the end of their fifth year. They studied hard and worked with excellent tutors and it showed. They had each broken the record for highest score in their best subject. Hermione had scored a 117% in Transfigurations after she showed off her animagus skills and her ability to conjure, as well as transfigure. Draco had scored a 120% in Potions after he named all the correct ingredients and their amounts in the prepared potions they were supposed to identify. Neville had edged out Draco with a 121% in Herbology. Neville was so intune with the plants, he could get them to dance to the tunes that he hummed. Harry had been the real star, though. He surprised everyone by having a knack for Ancient Runes. He could just see the way they fit together for enchanting purposes. He got a 105% and was the first person to ever score higher than a 94% on the exam. All four students scored off the charts on their Defense exams. They literally broke the scoring model, which had to be reworked after they so badly trounced it.
Time moved on. Soon, it was time to begin their attendance at Hogwarts for their NEWT level courses. Everyone thought they were crazy but the group of four decided to sit all twelve NEWT classes. They continued to meet with their private tutors in the subjects and easily sailed through those exams, as well. They again broke records in the same subjects they had excelled in for the OWLs. All four students were accepted for masteries in their exceptional fields. It took three years to finish the masteries before Daco became Potions Master, Harry became a Master Enchanter, Hermione became a Transfiguration Mistress, and Neville became a Master of Herbology.
They all chose to go to Muggle University when they were done. They were only twenty years old, after all. They had promised Narcissa none of them would become betrothed before their 21st birthdays. All the children had agreed with their mother's reasoning. She wanted them to enjoy their youth without the added responsibility of such serious relationships to contend with. This suited Draco just fine. Gabrielle would turn 17 a few months before Draco's 21st birthday. If all went according to his plans, they would be engaged at his birthday party and would be married sometime the next year. Harry was planning to follow Draco's plan of proposing at their 21st birthday party. He just didn't plan to get married until he was 25. Hermione wouldn't consider marriage until she was done with her doctorate. Harry was encouraging her to be the fastest doctoral candidate in the history of the law program at Cambridge. Harry only planned to get his bachelor's degree in structural engineering to better his hand at enchanting. He hoped to make beautiful, bespoke homes inside trunks or the like. The home he had grown up in was dear to his heart, afterall.
Chryssie and Neville courted all through Neville's mastery. They announced their engagement at the Yule family get together following Chyssie's 21st birthday. Jazz surprised everyone by announcing her engagement to Ginny Weasley the same day. LilyAnne stayed single for longer than anyone expected. She and Dion Granger had been inseparable since their first meeting but they waited the longest to wed. LilyAnne was 35 before they announced their engagement. Even her younger siblings were already considering marriage before she and Dion tied the knot.
Narcissa kept her promise to Petunia Dursley. She never told anyone of her daughter Lily's true origins, though she thought LilyAnne might know. If she ever got an inheritance test, she would definitely know. Sometimes Narcissa wondered if she should tell her. Maybe when she was older, she kept telling herself. Narcissa kept the Villa trunk in the Dursley home until after Harry's 17th birthday. The Dursley's never knew they were there, though occasionally, Narcissa thought she saw a young blonde haired girl peeking inside the room.
The blood protection solidified and remained with all the members of the House of Black for generations afterwards. The love the family shared was just that strong. The protections stayed with the Dursley family, too. They lived long, happy, normal lives with no idea that magic was truly possible.
Remus and Tonks courted all through Harry's fifth year. They were married the summer before sixth year started. They enacted the Fertilitas Vita ritual on their first anniversary, along with Sirius and Charity. The couples used the ritual again two years later before everyone was content with the number of children they had… at least until the grandchildren started coming along.
Draco and Gabrielle only conceived once, which was common with Veela. To everyone's surprise, however, thanks to the Fertilitas Vita ritual, she managed to carry fraternal twins to term. A little girl, and to everyone's shock, a little boy. Boy births to Veela are exceedingly rare. Draco wasn't surprised. He said he always knew Gabrielle was exceptional in every way.
Harry and Hermione had two children, from two separate births. Narcissa taught Hermione the potion that allows her absolute control over when she'd give birth. They decided that Hermione's 30th birthday was the perfect time to conceive. They waited five years for their second child. Both of their children were boys. Harry was thankful he had a son each to carry on the Black and Potter names. Sirius' children were all girls, so Harry remained his heir to the Black name.
Neville and Chryssie married when Chryssie was 22 years old. They waited until she was 27 to start having children but they didn't stop for a long time. They had 9 children, including one set of triplet girls and two sets of twin boys. Chryssie just laughed and said she took after her mother. Narcissa smiled but never corrected her.
Jazz and Ginny thought they would never have children. Both witches were professional Quidditch players for almost 20 years, an extremely long career in such a violent sport. They quickly grew bored after they travelled the world and built their own home. They adopted a set of siblings who needed a good home and loved being mother's so much, they each decided to carry a baby of their own, bringing their grand total of children up to four.
LilyAnne and Dion only had one pregnancy. A set of twin boys, one of whom was a squib, but both of whom they loved equally with all their hearts.
The younger children eventually grew up and married as well. Teddy, Tonks' and Remus' son, ended up marrying Victoire Weasley, the daughter of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. They had one child together. Tonks' and Remus' daughter, Angelee, who preferred to go by her surname, Lupin, never married. She lived a long and happy life as an auror with many friends and family members to keep her company.
Severus and Narcissa's son Julius married a lovely chap by the name of Baggins. They had three children together. April married a fine Greek gentleman named Jason and moved to the isles. They had six children together.
Albus Dumbledore never gave up on his conviction that Lord Voldemort was still out there, waiting to come back to life. It ruined his reputation until everyone in Britain saw him as a doddering, old fool.
Narcissa sat in her home on 60th birthday and felt truly blessed. She looked around at her numerous children, grandchildren, friends, and family and knew she must have done something right. Narcissa Malfoy might be middle-aged but she hadn't wasted her life. She had lived life to the fullest and it showed. After all, the best revenge is living well.
