A Possible Option, Kairi's Choice

"A heart eating monster," Kairi branded Kakazu, "You won't be the first one I kill!" Kairi charged at Kakazu. Clones of her Keyblade littered the battlefield around them. She grabbed one as she ran past, dual wielding the weapons. Hoping this would give her an edge in the coming attack.

Despite his size Kakazu was agile, as he dodged Kairi's swings even with Kairi using both Keyblades. When he jumped back, Kairi threw her clone Keyblade in strike raid, but Kakazu just held up his arms and hardened them. Her Keyblade ground against him like a buzzsaw but it didn't pierce the skin.

Then one of the monsters flew towards her. It shot a blast of lightning at her. Kairi jumped into the air to dodge. That gave Kakazu a chance to extend his arm, to grab her. Just as he was about to reach her Kairi vanished. And reappeared next to one of the Keyblades behind him. During her day of training Kairi learned she teleport to her clone Keyblades, just like the original, something she found very useful. Kakazu realized where she was and began to harden his back.

Time to see if this was worth the training!

Kairi's chakra spun at the tip of her Keyblade, "Rasengan!" Kairi stabbed her new power into the Kakazu's black back.

She heard him groan, and Kairi saw his back starting to crack. It didn't go through like the Chidori because it wasn't a lightning style attack, but it was still doing damage. Kairi just needed to press on and…

"Kairi, get back!" Kairi looked up at Shikamaru's warning, to see the fire monster was about to hit her. When it attacked, Kairi teleported to another clone for safety. When she was away, Kakazu was stitching up the damage she did with his black tendrils.

Kairi wanted to go after him again, but the fire monster was still after her. She quickly ran up the tree as it attacked her some more. She leapt off a branch, "Blizzard!" Kairi shot an ice spell at it as it breathed fire. The two opposing attacks just canceled each other out.

"Seven wishes," Kairi started to teleport around the monster, delivering seven different slashes into it. While that did damage, it didn't destroy it. Kairi landed on another branch, when she heard Ino scream. She looked down in horror to Kakazu had her and Choji by the throat. He was dragging them toward him with his extended arms. Shikamaru was being chased by the lightning monster, while Kakashi was busy with Hidan and the wind monster.

They all made eye contact. Kairi knew what to do.

She teleported to another Keyblade. One embedded in the trunk of a tree just as Kakashi ran by. On cue, Kakashi weaved a hand sign and a shadow clone appeared. Kairi grabbed the real Kakashi and teleported to a different Keyblade, out of sight, before Hidan noticed the switch.

"Get to Shikamaru, teleport him to safety when he tells you," Kakashi whispered.

Kairi just nodded. Before teleporting to a different Keyblade; one close to Shikamaru. She ran up next to him as they charged towards Kakazu, who now held Ino and Choji in the air.

Shikamaru pulled out a blue scroll. Kairi watched as threw it on the ground, did a hand sign before stomping on it. Water rose from the scroll covering the battlefield and it reached Kakazu's feat. Then the lightning monster appeared, ready to attack.

"Kairi."

"No problem," she placed a hand on Shikamaru and teleported them to dry ground as the monster shot a lightning attack. The electricity was carried through the water and hit Kakazu, who grunted in pain. Then Kakashi appeared from his hiding spot and threw a kunai attached to a paper bomb. Kakazu had to let go and use a water barrier jutsu, to block.

The explosion caused a smoke screen.

"Kairi, wait here," Shikamaru and Kakashi ran into the smoke and retrieved Ino and Choji.

"Are you guys, okay?" Kairi asked when they were deposited on the ground safely.

"Uh-huh."

"Yeah, more or less."

They all looked back at the enemy. Hidan landed next to Kakazu, "That was pitiful, what happened there buddy?"

"You should talk," Hidan growled, "I'm not the one who fell for a shadow clone."

"Heh, yeah, right. You saw that?"

"Shikamaru, what now?" Kakashi asked.

"There's no way we can beat them if they're together," Kairi said.

"She's right. We need to get them on their own. We have got to tackle them individually."

"Agreed," Kakashi said.

"Once their combo attacks are off the table, we can focus on destroying the big guy's last four hearts," Kakashi motioned to Kakazu.

"Okay, but for that to happen, one of us would have to stall Hidan," Kakashi inputted.

"It should be me," Kairi volunteered., "I'm their target and Hidan has a grudge against me. I can lure him away."

"No, I'll do it," Ino stood up, "Listen out of the five of us I have the most chakra left. And besides I'm not good in a straight up fight anyway. With Mind Transfer Jutsu-…"

"Forget it," Shikamaru interupted, "It's too dangerous. Your Mind Transfer Justu should always follow after my Shadow Possession. If you miss you can't get back to your body for a few minutes, and Kairi, they're not just going to let you leave. They'd both go after you," he looked ahead, "I'm going to do it," everyone looked at him as he continued, "I'll get him with Possession and head off with him; that means Kairi, I'll need your support."

"I'll do it," Kairi said, "But how are you going to get him?"

"We still need some kind of diversion," Kakashi said.

"Well, I can take care of that part," Choji offered.

"No way Choji," Shikamaru shot down, "If he so much as scratches you and captures you're blood. It's all over. It'll be just like last time. A head on attack is the wrong way to go here."

Kairi grimaced when she remembered the last time Hidan captured someone's blood. Poor Asuma.

"Choji," Shikamaru spoke again looking at his teammates, "You need to preserve all the chakra you have. Kairi's strong, but I need her help; I can't go a long way without risk of the Heartless. So, Kakashi-Sensei will need you for support with the other enemy," Shikamaru looked ahead again, "I'll get a hold of him. You guys stay out of it. And the diversion, that'll be me. I've got this."

"I trust you," Kairi said, "But if you need help, just call."

"She's right," Ino said, "We'll always have your back."

"Alright, he's all yours then," Kakashi then handed Shikamaru something. Good, he must have gotten Kakazu's blood, "Here."

Shikamaru put it away and started walking ahead. Kairi looked ahead. Shikamaru was going to lead Hidan away, and when happened Kairi would have to go with him, to protect him from shadow Heartless. She looked at the monsters currently in front of her. She wanted to do damage while she was still there. At the very least, she needed to kill one of the monsters and give the rest of Team Ten a better chance.

Shikamaru attacked with his shadow. That split Hidan and Kakazu up. Kakashi went after Hidan this time. Shuriken in hand they began to fight, "You're fighting me now."

Kairi decided to go after the monsters. She ran and jumped into the air. She shot out her chakra chains, to grab them, but they moved away. Kairi's eyes land on the lightning style one. She threw her Keyblade at it. When it dodged Kairi teleported to it and tried to slash at it, but it flew away. The three monsters circled her as she descended. Then attacked. Kairi quickly put up her barrier, then when it was hit, she released star crackle. The shock wave knocked the monsters of balance.

In an instant, the Keyblade was thrown again and embedded in the wind monster's chest. Kairi teleported to it and grabbed the hilt, "Rasengan!" The monster's body twisted and contorted, until it was ripped apart, by the Rasengan Kairi created. Effectively killing the lightning style monster.

"Nice one Kairi!" Choji cheered. Kairi heard Kakazu grunt. He must have felt some pain after one of his monsters died.

Kairi looked to Shikamaru. Hidan just caught a punch.

"You're pathetic, I don't hide in the shadows," when separated, their shadows revealed a connection, "I become them."

Kairi teleported to a Keyblade clone near Shikamaru, before finally dismissing them. She needed to conserve her chakra.

"Shadow Possession Justu, complete."

"You stupid little…" Hidan snarled.

"Shikamaru, Kairi, get going!" Kakashi called as he blocked another punch from Kakazu.

"Leave the rest to us."

"We're counting on you."

"Right," Shikamaru nodded.

"We'll be back as soon as possible," Kairi promised, "Good luck."

Shikamaru made Hidan drop his scythe, "Come on, pal. We're going on a little stroll."

Shikamaru started running, making Hidan run after him. Kairi running next to them. Away from Kakazu and the rest of Team Ten.

It wasn't long before they left the giant, white, dead trees. And entered a live, lush green forest.

"Where are we going kid, eh? Splitting up me and Kakazu won't save you?"

Kairi threw her Keyblade when a Shadow Heartless appeared. Destroying it.

"What would happen if we let one get Hidan?" Shikamaru whispered.

"Hidan would become a monster. Usually, the stronger the darkness in someone's heart, the stronger the Heartless they'll be," Kairi glanced behind them, "I don't want to know what kind of Heartless he'd be."

"Understood, Kairi."

"I see it, Blizzard," Kairi froze the Heartless, before destroying it, "Okay, it looks like we'll be home free until we reach your clan's forest," she sensed ahead looking for Heartless, "We should-…" Kairi trailed off.

"Something, big is about to catch up to us," Kairi said.

"What do we do?" Shikamaru asked.

Kairi clenched her Keyblade, "Keep going. Follow through with the plan. I'll stay and keep it here."

"What?"

"It's a Heartless, I can handle it."

"You said it's big. I can't just-…"

"Kakashi and the others need you to complete your end of the plan," Kairi reminded, "We need to kill Kakazu!"

"But-…"

"Shikamaru, I know we haven't known each other that long," Kairi said, "But I need you to trust me like you trust Naruto, and if not. Then hurry up and do what you can, then come back and help me."

Shikamaru gritted his teeth, "Man what a drag. Fine, stay alive. Naruto will kill me if you die."

Kairi smiled, "You let me worry about Naruto," Kairi then turned around and shot back, past a yelling Hidan. It wasn't long before the Heartless appeared. It looked like a stitched up grim reaper. Kairi narrowed her eyes. It looked like a combination of Hidan and Kakazu. This one must have fed off their greed and bloodlust and took on their abilities.

But it was still a Heartless! Kairi wasn't going to lose this one.

The Heartless stretched out its arm, to swing its scythe at her. Kairi quickly dodged and threw her Keyblade. When her weapon struck it, Kairi teleported to it to deliver a few more hits. Then she teleported away to a safe distance when it swiped a claw at her.

"Burn!" Kairi shot a fire spell at the monster. It looked like it caused damage, but not enough.

It shot out a hand. Kairi quickly dodged, charged her Keyblade with chakra, before slicing through the black cords that attached the Heartless's hand to the body. She mentally kicked herself for not doing that to Kakazu earlier. Oh, well hindsight was 20-20.

She quickly used another fire spell to destroy the claw. Now it was down to one hand. Kairi briefly wondered if the plan worked. Did they trick Hidan? Did Shikamaru use the blood Kakashi got from Kakazu? Was Kakazu down another heart?

Kairi shook her head. She'd kill this Heartless and then find out!

"Thunder!" A bout of thunder struck the Heartless from the sky. Kairi tried to preserve her magic as best as she could and saved it for Heartless. She'd use it on other enemies, but Shikamaru and Kakashi advised Kairi to preserve her power as best as she could and use it when absolutely necessary. But for Heartless, it was no holds barred.

She dodged the large scythe again. She noticed that it had a more skeletal form now. When Kairi hit it again, she felt pain go through her body. She cried out and held her side.

Great this thing could mimic Hidan's Voodoo jutsu?

The Heartless then went berserk. Swinging the scythe around, like a top, Kairi had to put up her barrier, until it finished rampaging. When it stopped, the skeletal design vanished.

Kairi hit it again. She felt fine. Okay, so the Voodoo Justu was temporary for this Heartless and could only do it a few minutes at a time. Kairi needed to make as most of this time as she could.

She shot forward and started hitting it as hard as she could. She charged her Keyblade with chakra, to give her strikes more force.

Kairi quickly dodged another swing of the scythe. She looked at it with a glare. She had to get rid of it. If she could destroy the hand, she didn't see why she couldn't destroy the scythe.

She rolled away to a further distance and waited for the Heartless to attack. Just like she thought, it extended the arm that held the scythe to hit her. Kairi rolled out of the way, then quickly, her chakra chains shot through the ground and wrapped around the scythe. Kairi then charged her Keyblade with chakra and threw it. It effectively sliced through the black cables, then boomeranged back onto the scythe wielding claw. One less thing for Kairi to worry about.

Kairi heard a loud explosion. It wasn't from the Heartless it was from some where else. She didn't have time to wonder what that was, the Heartless took on its skeletal pattern again. Kairi gained some distance to wait out the Voodoo Jutsu. She put of a barrier as it grew out black tendrils. The black sinew shot at her, in the air or out of the ground. Kairi had no choice but to dodge and evade, since it had the Voodoo Jutsu activated.

After what felt like forever, the skeletal design faded. Kairi decided to try to finally end this. Kairi coated her Keyblade in fire magic, then threw. Deciding to be experimental, she also did the Shadow Clone Shuriken Jutsu. To her surprise, her Keyblade didn't just make clones, but they were all coated in fire. However, Kairi could feel the strain on both her magic and chakra.

The multiple fire raids exploded on impact. They poofed away right after. The original Keyblade now embedded in the Heartless's chest. Kairi teleported to it, and just like with the lightning style monster. Kairi sent chakra into her Keyblade.

The Heartless began to crack, light was seeping through, as Kairi gave on last push, "Rasengan!"

The Heartless was torn to pieces as giant Rasengan broke free, shining brighter than the sun. The heart free, floated into the sky. Kairi fell towards the ground exhausted. She used so much chakra and magic that day, she almost passed out.

"Kairi!"

Something caught Kairi in the air. She looked down to see, it was a giant white bird… no it was a living painting of a white bird. When the bird landed with Kairi, she sat up. Sai, Sakura, and a small dog ran up to her.

"Sakura, Sai?"

"Kairi are you okay?" Sakura asked as Kairi climbed down.

"I'm fine," Kairi gasped, "Just tired."

"Where's Shikamaru?" Sai asked.

Kairi pointed in the direction he ran, "He took Hidan… so we could separate them…"

"Okay."

"What are you guys doing here?" Kairi asked. She summoned her Keyblade and began to give and take chakra. This helped her recharge.

"Naruto finally finished his jutsu," Sai said.

"What!" Kairi asked. Naruto finished his jutsu already?

"Kairi, look at me," Sakura suddenly got in front of Kairi and was looking at her intensely.

"Uh…" Sakura suddenly moved Kairi's bangs away to look at her forehead, "Do I have a zit?"

"I thought I saw…" Sakura trailed off.

"Saw what?" Kairi asked.

"Nevermind," Sakura said, "You said Shikamaru is that way?"

"Yeah," Kairi nodded, "Where's Naruto?"

"Helping Kakashi-Sensei with the other one."

Using his new jutsu. Kairi desperately wanted to see it. Wanted to see how far Naruto had gotten. Sakura saw the look on Kairi's face and figured what she was thinking.

"Kairi, we'll help Shikamaru, you go ahead and head back to Naruto."

"Are you sure?" Kairi asked.

"Yeah."

"Thanks, see you later," Kairi ran past them back towards Kakazu.

As Sakura and Sai began running to Shikamaru, Sakura wondered, "Sai, did you see anything strange about Kairi?"

"She was very powerful, she destroyed that large Heartless on her own," Sai deduced.

"I didn't mean that," Sakura said, "Did you see anything on her forehead?"

"She doesn't have a zit," Sai simply said.

Sakura sighed. Sai didn't see it. Then again maybe she didn't see it either. But she thought for a second, Kairi had it. It looked just like the mark Lady Tsunade had.

Kairi raced through the giant white trees. She needed to find them, and help them… She needed to see Naruto's jutsu!

Soon she heard a commotion ahead. She was almost there. Kairi was getting ready to fight when something shot into the air. It looked like a black hairball that was hit with something, white and humming.

The white humming thing consumed the object and created a white cyclone. Before long, the cyclone created a shock wave. Kairi had to put up a barrier so she wouldn't get knocked back. It felt like forever, but the shockwave died down and the cyclone finally stopped. To reveal Kakazu was being turned into a pin cushion for small little needles. He fell into the giant crater, defeated.

Kairi lowered her barrier and cautiously approached through the dust. As she did, she saw someone lying on the ground, "Naruto!"

Kairi ran to Naruto's side as he gasped. He looked up.

"Hey Kairi, there you are…"

Kairi looked over her brother. He looked beaten, bruised, and his right arm looked like it went through a blender.

"Naruto, what happened, you're hurt!"

"Did you see that?" Naruto said tired, "That's my new jutsu…"

Kairi sighed, "What am I going to do with you?

Afterwards they went back to the village. Naruto needed to go to the hospital and they wanted to analyze Kakazu's body. Besides, Kairi needed to make a call.

"So that's what happened?" Namine asked on the other end.

"Yeah," Kairi confirmed, "Sorry to scare you."

"I feel like I'm going crazy," Namine said, "I finally have a family and you guys keep getting hurt. How's Naruto?"

"His arms banged up," Kairi explained, "But I think he'll be fine."

"So, it's that strong?"

"Yeah," Kairi leaned against the wall, now that Naruto was safe, Kairi had time to think about his new Jutsu, "It took down Kakazu in one blow. Destroyed his remaining hearts… my version of the Rasengan didn't even pierce the hardening jutsu…"

"You just learned the Rasengan," Namine reminded, "Now it's your turn to improve upon it."

Kairi smiled, "I'll text you the instructions to how to learn the Rasengan. I know it's easier to have someone teach you, but I was told you have to learn it yourself."

"Are you sure?" Namine asked.

"Yeah," Kairi said, "You're our sister, you have the right to learn it too."

"I'll add that to my training regiment," Namine said.

"Good luck in there," Kairi said.

"You too, stay strong Kairi," Namine then hung up.

Namine put down the phone and picked up her sketch book. She wanted to do something nice for her siblings. She drew a picture of Kairi and Naruto when they were kids. But they were together.

%%%%

Kairi walked through the hospital. She passed a door when she heard.

"Kakashi, whatever happens, don't let Naruto try to use Rasenshuriken again!" Kairi stopped and listened. Rasenshuriken was Naruto's new jutsu.

"It's that serious?" Yamato's voice asked.

"I saw the same symptoms in Naruto's right arm, not as severe, but the same," Tsunade said.

Symptoms? What were they talking about?

"If he keeps using that Jutsu, sooner or later, he'll lose it. The ability to wield chakra," Tsunade explained. Kairi gasped.

She quickly ran down the hall. She needed to find Sakura. Thankfully, Sakura was near Naruto's room.

"Hey Kairi."

"Sakura," Kairi said, "What happened to Naruto's arm?"

Sakura looked down worried, "Well, it's pretty bad."

"How bad?"

"The arm didn't just break," Sakura said, "The chakra network was damaged."

"It was damaged?"

"Not too badly," Sakura assured, "But, it was like tiny needles tried to sever the chakra network in the cells."

"So, that's what Rasenshuriken does?" Kairi asked. It was one thing to do it an enemy. But a weapon that hurt you too, was pointless.

"Yeah, I told Naruto he shouldn't use it often," Sakura said, "I'd rather he'd not use it at all. I don't think I could heal him if he does."

Kairi frowned, "So, just holding it is dangerous."

"Yeah," Sakura nodded, "I'll let you talk to him," she said before walking away. Kairi sighed. Naruto worked so hard on that jutsu, and it was useless. If only he didn't have to hold like…

Kairi summoned her Keyblade. She summoned the Rasengan at the tip. Spinning far from her… no risk of backlash… Kairi dismissed the technique and looked at her Keyblade.

Well… Technically Kairi could… But she wasn't a master, and she couldn't pass on the power just because he's her brother, could she? It could help him. He could learn her way of using the Rasengan the eventually Rasenshuriken…

But that also meant, Naruto would be a Keyblade Wielder. He would have duties, responsibilities to not just this world but all worlds. Would he want that?

But there were also rules. Kairi couldn't just pass on the Keyblade's power to someone just because she like them. But did she have the right to keep this power for herself?

Kairi dismissed her Keyblade and went into Naruto's room.

"Hey Kairi," Naruto's arm was in a bandage cocoon.

"You're arm…"

"Yeah, don't worry about it," Naruto grinned.

Kairi still saw the hurt in his expression.

Kairi looked down at her hand. The one that could easily summon a Keyblade, "Um, Naruto…"

"Yeah, what's up?"

"I…" light started to gather in her hand, but she stopped it.

"I just wanted to say, thanks for showing up when you did," Kairi smiled. They had time. Kairi could think about this. It was a huge decision after all. And Naruto wasn't going anywhere.

"Don't worry," Naruto said, "I'll always to be there to help my little sister."

Kairi snorted, "You're only older than me by like five minutes."

The two then laughed.

Kairi decided to sleep in the open bed next to Naruto. They closed there eyes and went to sleep.

"Naruto Uzumaki!"

Young Naruto looked up from his desk. He fell asleep in class again, "I wasn't asleep," he blurted out.

"Oh really?" Iruka-Sensei asked, "Then why don't you pick up from where Ino left off?"

"Uh," Naruto panicked. He did fell asleep, and he had no idea what page they were. A small rustle of paper caught his attention. He looked down to see a note, "pg 14 paragraph 2."

Naruto quickly began from there. Eventually he was done then it was another student's turn. Naruto sighed in relief, he looked to the girl who sat next to him. She showed him the note, "Thanks Kairi," Naruto whispered.

Kairi just smiled as the lesson continued.

%%%%

"Sasuke!"

Kairi had to cover her ears as Ino and Sakura squealed Sasuke's name as he walked past them. She seriously didn't understand what was so great about him. Naruto said she was the smartest girl in class because of that. It was recess and they were playing together, or at least Kairi would like to play with them, but…

"Kairi, let's play on the swing," Sakura said leading Kairi towards the swing.

"No way, she's playing with me," Ino said, grabbed Kairi's free arm and pulled her towards her.

"In your dreams Ino-Pig," Sakura said as she tried to pull Kairi back, "She's playing with me."

"Oh, come on, she doesn't want to stare at your forehead all day," Ino pulled her back.

Kairi whined a little. Ever since they decided to fight over Sasuke, somehow Kairi became a prize too. Because Kairi didn't have a crush on Sasuke, Ino and Sakura still wanted to be her friend, but now it basically turned Kairi into a rope in a game of tug-o-war.

"Come on guys," Kairi sighed.

%%%%%

"Get him Sasuke!"

"Show him who's boss!"

Naruto challenged Sasuke to another fight. And as usually everyone was cheering for Sasuke.

"Come on Naruto," except one, Kairi was cheering, "You can do it. Today's the day! Beat him up!"

However, Naruto was soon on his back. He lost again. As Sasuke walked away, Kairi helped Naruto up, "You okay?"

"Yeah," Naruto frowned, "He pisses me off."

"You'll get him next time," Kairi said.

%%%%%

They walked home from school, "I hate having homework," Naruto complained.

"We gotta do it," Kairi reminded.

"Ugh…"

Kairi sighed, "Why don't we go to the island first?"

"Really?" Naruto asked sparkly eyed.

"Yeah," Kairi nodded, "But only for an hour, then we go home and do our homework," Kairi had to be the responsible one.

"Sure, let's go."

%%%%

"Kairi, Naruto come on!" Naruto and Kairi ran after Riku and Sora. All four of them laughing.

For those who are confused, Namine used her powers to give Naruto and Kairi dreams about them growing up together. Isn't she sweet?

Yes, many of you are hoping Kairi will give Naruto a Keyblade. But, we'll have to wait and see.
